Mabel E. Burkholder, 92 of Mill Run, died Sunday, January 11, 2004 at the home of her son, Dale Burkholder, where she had been staying.
She was born Nov. 8,1911 in Bruceton Mills, West Virginia, a daughter of the late Jesse and Millie Maust Wolfe.
Mabel was a resident of Mill Run for most of her life. She was a graduate of the Connellsville High School. Mabel was a longtime member of the Mill Run United Methodist Church and it's Tried and True Sunday School Class. She also had been in the Ladies Aid and Missionary Group.
Mabel is survived by her loving sons Dale Burkholder and his wife Jean of Mill Run and Robert Burkholder and his wife Maxine of Champion, 7 grandchildren Michelle Miller and her husband Randy of Normalville, Mark Burkholder and his wife Wanda of Connellsville, Wendy Jo Leichliter and her husband Lyndon of Champion, Lynn Miner and her husband Chris and Richard Burkholder and his wife Shelly all of Mill Run, Robert Burkholder and his wife Terri and Jason Burkholder all of Champion, 16 great grandchildren, a sister Kathryn Teets of Beaver Falls, a brother Robert Wolfe of Pompano Beach FL., and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Wilmer L. Burkholder in 1979, a son Richard W. Burkholder in 1984, a brother Alvin Wolfe and 2 infant brothers.
Family and friends will be received in the Brooks Funeral Home Inc., 111 E. Green St. Connellsville Tue. from 2-9 PM. A funeral service will be held Wed. at 11:00 AM, in the funeral home, with Rev. Madison Stringfellow and Rev. Thomas Bonomo officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Normalville Cemetery.

Madeline J."Jean" Treece, 60 of Acme, PA. formerly of Findlay OH., died Sunday, March 14, 2004 in the Westmoreland Regional Hospital, Greensburg, PA. She was born December 31,1943 in Indian Head, PA. a daughter of the late Calvin Weimer and the late Susan Marie Shaffer Weimer Shepler. Jean was a graduate of Connellsville High School with the class of 1963. She had been a longtime resident of Findlay OH. and had lived in Acme for the last 3 years. She was a former Home Health Care Worker. Jean was a member of the Findlay Church of the Nazarene while living in Ohio, and had been attending the Davistown United Methodist Church. Jean is survived by a son Michael Treece and her grandson Kevin Treece both living Sweden, 4 sisters Roxann Snyder and her husband Curtis of Acme, Ethel Pritts and her husband Richard of Macon GA., Barbara Felesky and her husband Edward of Boswell, and Kimberly Giles and her husband Richard of Donegal, and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her step father Harold "Huck" Shepler, 2 brothers Donald W. and Calvin J. Weimer, and 2 sisters Susan Shepler and Helen Weimer. Marcella A. Symanski, 71, of Mount Pleasant died Thursday March 18, 2004 at her home. She was born January 24, 1933 in Mount Pleasant a daughter of the late Albert and Virginia Pergalski Gorecki. Mrs. Symanski was a graduate of the former Hurst High School. She was a member of the Visitation Roman Catholic Church and a former member of the Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church and the Holy Rosary Society. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by an infant sister, Virginia. She is survived by her husband of 52 years, Walter L. Symanski; two daughters, Carol Stoops and her husband Alvy and Doris Marhefka and her husband Michael, all of Mount Pleasant; six grandchildren Jill, Haylee and Joshua Stoops and Julie, Matthew and Nicholas Marhefka; five sisters, Eleanor Sheele of Mount Pleasant, Cecelia Barrick of Mount Pleasant, Sister Mary Amelia of the Felician Sisters of Coraopolis, Florence Zemba and her husband Paul of Jeannette and Frances Bailey of Mount Pleasant and one brother, Edward Gorecki and his wife Dorothy of Mount Pleasant. Marie Ringer, 96, a resident of Eicher's Family Home, Normalville, formerly of South Connellsville died Sunday July 11, 2004 at her residence. She was born January 23, 1908 in South Connellsville a daughter of the late Levi and Matilda Shultz Sanner. Mrs. Ringer was a lifelong resident of South Connellsville and she was a 1925 graduate of Connellsville High School. She was a faithful member of the Albright United Methodist Church, South Connellsville for 87 years. She was a former Sunday School Teacher of 47 years and she also served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She was a member of the Ever Faithful Class and the Women's Missionary Society. She is survived by her husband Harry M. Ringer; one son, William Levi Ringer and his fiancée Joanne VanNosdeln of South Connellsville; one daughter, Tillie Berg and her husband Kenneth of South Connellsville; seven grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild and two sisters, Eleanor Lund of La Mesa, Calif. and Ruth Hartman and her husband Floyd of South Connellsville. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a son, Ronald "Red" Ringer in 1995 and three brothers, Everett, Merle and Gerald Sanner. Friends will be received from 2-4,7-9 P.M. Mary Louise Grendon,83, of State College, formerly of Connellsville and Monroeville died Wednesday April 2, 2003 in State College, Pa. She was born March 2, 1920 in Connellsville a daughter of the late Jessie and Clara Baker Jordan. Mary Louise attended Heidelberg College in Tiffin, Ohio where she met and married the late Howard Thomas Grendon. She attended graduate school at Yale University and the Pennsylvania State University where she earned a master's degree in English Literature. She taught English Literature and Humanities at the New Kensington Campus of the Pennsylvania State University for many years. Professor Grendon is fondly remembered by generations of devoted students for her feisty and hilarious classroom antics. More than a few of her students enrolled in her classes even after she "flunked" them previously. Her classes would invariably "fill up" and she was renowned as the most popular professor on campus. Mary Louise has a lifelong love of literature and it is said that she read a book a day every day of her life. She was an accomplished pianist and a serious collector of fine china and porcelain. An avid animal lover, Mary Louise could never turn away a stray and was always surrounded by her beloved pets. Recently Mrs. Grendon moved from her home in Monroeville, Pa. to State College where she succumbed to a long illness on April 2, 2003. She is survived by her sister, Betty Payne of Laurel, Md. and her sons, Kerry Branwell Grendon of State College and Michael Todd Grendon, M.D. of Glenview, Ill. She is also survived by her four granddaughters, Ashley, Andrea, Kathryne and Emily. Friends will be received in the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, Pa. on Monday April 7, 2003 from 11 A.M. until 1 P.M., the hour of funeral services with Rev. Vince Scavo officiating. Interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park.

Mary M. Snyder, 87, of Normalville, PA, passed away Wednesday, May 22, 2002. She was born December 22, 1914, in Normalville, the daughter of the late George W. and Missouri White Prinkey. She was a member of Normalville all her life. She attended Connellsville High School, was a member of the Normalville United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, was church secretary and church pianist, and was a member of The Women's Society of the Church. She was a member of The Fayette Mountain Craft Club, a 4-H Leader of the Somerset Viking Sewing Club, and a former member of The Mill Run Grange. Her hobbies included flower gardening and handcrafts. She was loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Surviving are her husband, Elmer W. Snyder to whom she would have been married for 70 years on June 18, 2002; four daughters, Mrs. Joseph (Betty) Biler, of Normalville, Margaret O'Brien, of Macedonia, Ohio, Mrs. Gerald (Ann) Kinneer Sr., of Acme, and Mrs. John (Helen Kay) Porterfield, of Normalville; ten grandchildren, Brenda and Joanne Biler, Phillip, John, and Mary Ann O'Brien; Gerald Jr., Robert, Deborah, and James Kinneer and John Porterfield; seven great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Charles, Russell, and Harry Prinkey; two sisters, Elsie and Helen Prinkey; three half-brothers, Lloyd, Elmer and Marshall Prinkey; three half-sisters, Blanche Imel, Nora Pritts, and Lena Brooks; and two infant sisters, Lona and Elma Prinkey; Friends will be received in The Clyde Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., Route 711, Melcroft, today from 7-9 p.m. and on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. where services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. She was born Dec. 19,1926 in Connellsville a daughter of the late John J. and Anne Clark Patrick.
Mary Margaret was a life long resident of Connellsville. She was a graduate of the former Immaculate Conception High School with the class of 1944. She was also a graduate of Penn State University in 1948 She was a Teacher for many years in the Connellsville Area School District. Mary Margaret was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville.
Mary Margaret is survived by her loving husband of 45 years J. Robert Munson, her loving children J. Mark Munson and his wife Karen of Monroeville and David S. Munson and his wife Gemma of Connellsville, and her loving grandchildren, Nora, Thomas, Daniel, Gabriella, and Nico Munson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.
In addition to her parents Mary Margaret was predeceased by a brother John J. Patrick Jr.

Pearl B. Reynolds, 87 of Connellsville, died Thursday, July 22, 2004 in UPMC Shadyside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
She was born Aug. 28,1916 in Myersdale, Somerset County, a daughter of the late Charles Wilson and Lulu Estelle Imhoff Bittner.
Pearl had been a resident of Connellsville since 1938. She was a loving mother and homemaker. Pearl was very active in church work throughout her life with the First Christian Church and the First Baptist Church in Connellsville and the Temple Baptist Church in Pittsburgh. She was a member of the Temple Baptist Church in Pittsburgh, where her son John is Pastor of the church.
Pearl is survived by her loving son Pastor John C. Reynolds, of Connellsville, a brother John Bittner of Johnstown, and her sisters Julia Jones and Mary Minick both of Johnstown, and Annaruth Brubaker of Hurricane WV.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Albert J. Reynolds in 1994 and a brother Wilberdien Bittner.

Mrs. Benedict was a resident of Mount Pleasant for most of her life and she resided at Harmon House for the past three and one half years. She was a member of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Mount Pleasant and the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Society. She was also a longtime member of the Sons of Italy and Assunta Club Ladies Auxiliary. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband, Pete "Punk" Benedict; one daughter, Elsie Biller and son-in-law Leo " Corky" Biller;one son, Christopher Benedict, Daughter-in-law, Joanne Benedict; two grandsons, John Lobingier and Jimmy Biller; one great grandson, Justin Benedict and two sisters, Margaret Bridges and Dolly Yeskey. She is survived by six children, Madalyn Kantorik of Mount Pleasant, Philip "Bud" Benedict and his wife Ethel of Mount Pleasant, John "Jack" Benedict and his wife Fay of Swissvale, Pete Benedict, Jr. of Prittstown, Pearl Ann Shumar and her husband Richard of Mount Pleasant and Christine "Tina" Kachmarek of Mount Pleasant; 51 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren and 14 great great grandchildren. She was born Sept. 18,1941 in Clarksburg WV. a daughter of the late Sam J. and Betty J. Brannon Marchio.
Peggy was a graduate of Weston High School and Fairmont General Hospital School of Nursing in Fairmont WV. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church in Connellsville.
She is survived by her husband Thomas R. Whelan whom she married July 28,1962 and her children Lisa Young and her husband Andrew and Sandra Snead and her husband Scott all of Glen Allen VA., Laura Whelan and Lou Edwards of Virginia Beach VA., Thomas Whelan and his fiancée Alissa Isaacson of Swannanoa NC., and Elizabeth Whelan of Connellsville, PA., and her grandchildren Brandon Young, and Samantha and Noah Snead all of Glen Allen VA.

Randy was a graduate of the Connellsville Area High School with the class of 1977. He had been a resident of Tennessee for the last 5 years and worked as the Fleet Manager for Town & Country Ford in Nashville TN. In addition to his mother he is survived by his step father Ronald Bryner of Joppa MD. and a brother Charles Bryner of Joppa MD. Richard H. "Peanuts" Petrone, 70, of Connellsville died Wednesday March 12, 2003 in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. He was born March 8, 1933 in Connellsville a son of the late Carl and Margaret Siesky Petrone."Peanuts" was a retired clerk for the B&O and later CSX Railroad. He was a member of the Polish Club, the Sons of Italy and the Italian Independent Club, all of Connellsville; social member of the Connellsville VFW and the South Connellsville Fireman's Club. He was a former member of the Army National Guard. During his life he was active in many youth sports and activities and coached Little League baseball for several years. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by and infant sister, Christine. He is survived by his wife Norma June Crouser Petrone; five children, Michael Petrone and his wife Deborah, Jenny Kinnick and her husband Dale, Don Petrone and his companion Diane Smith, Steve Petrone and Bill Petrone, all of Connellsville; three grandchildren, Adam, Stephanie and Ashley Petrone; two brothers, Ralph Petrone and his wife Pearl and Paul Petrone and his wife Julie, both of Connellsville and one sister, Mary Peck and her husband Edward of Lemont Furnace. Richard Lee Lankey, 46 of Acme, died unexpectedly, Thursday Jan. 15, 2004 in the Frick Hospital, Mt.Pleasant.
He was born June 6, 1957 in Connellsville a son of the late Leroy and Emma Jean Eutsey Lankey.
Richard was a graduate of Connellsville High School with the class of 1975. He was employed by the Double D Logging Co. in Champion. He is survived by his fiancée Leora Frederick of Acme, 2 sons Donald Hoyman of Acme and Christopher Hoyman and his fiancée Jamie of Scottdale, a step son Mark Frederick of Acme and a step daughter Kathy Hensel and her husband Melvin of Acme, a grandson Tanner Hoyman and 2 step grandchildren Amanda and Adam Hensel, 2 brothers Carl Lankey and his fiancée Lisa of Otis MA. and Roger Dale Lankey and his wife Joyce of Derry, and a sister Janet Porterfield and her husband David of Acme, and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Stephen James Lankey.
Family and friends will be received in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., route 711 Melcroft, Sat. from 7-9 PM and Sun from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held Mon. at 11:00 AM, in the funeral home, with Rev. Charles Whipple officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Mt. Joy Cemetery, Mt.Pleasant Twp.

Robert F. Carroll, of Connellsville, passed away on Sunday, March 28, 2004, at Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. He was born in Pittsburgh, the son of the late Robert Francis and Mary Elizabeth Moore Carroll. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Nancy Lee Lamanna Carroll, of Connellsville. He is survived by two cousins, Margaret Jean Baughman, of Amarillo, Texas, and Loretta Ann Hrin, of Seattle, Wash.; a father-in-law, James Lamanna, of Perryopolis; two brothers-in-law, James Lamanna Jr., of Connellsville and Jesse C. Lamanna, of San Francisco, Calif.; a good friend, Thelma Gilpin, of Connellsville; and three nieces. Robert served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of East Connellsville United Methodist Church. Robert was a member and past worshipful master of King Solomon's Lodge #346 F&AM of Connellsville. He was the principal of Uniontown Masonic School of Instruction. He was a member of Connellsville Royal Arch Chapter #283, member and past Thrice Potent Master of the Uniontown Lodge of Perfection 14th Degree and a member of Penna Consistory 32nd Degree at Pittsburgh and the Syria Shrine of Pittsburgh. Friends will be received at the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., where services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Dr. Marvin Watson officiating. Committal and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park. King Solomon's Lodge #346 F&AM will conduct a memorial ritual at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
