Joseph R. Hensel, 30, of Confluence died Sunday July 6, 2003 as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident. He was born February 21, 1973 in Mount Pleasant a son of Joseph A. Hensel of Mill Run and the late Rosemary Shaffer Hensel. Mr. Hensel was employed by Rosensteel's Restaurant and the Lone Star Restaurant. He was a graduate of Connellsville High School. In addition to his father he is survived by his stepmother, Della L. Brooks Hensel and one sister, Mary Ann Hensel. Friends will be received from 7-9 P.M. Wednesday and 2-4,7-9 P.M. Thursday in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., Route 711, Melcroft. Services and Interment will be private.

Juel M. Bernardo, 87, of Connellsville died Wednesday March 10, 2004 in the Carriage Hill Nursing Home, Fredericksburg, Virginia. She was born July 26, 1916 in Connellsville a daughter of the late James and Olive Cox McPartland. Juel was a graduate of the former Immaculate Conception High School. She was a retired secretary at the Anchor Hocking Glass Corp. where she was employed for 38 years. She was a long time member of the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church where she served as church organist for over 40 years. She also played the organ at many other area churches during her lifetime. She is survived by one son, Thomas E. Bernardo and his wife Betty of Fredericksburg and one granddaughter, Tiffany Bernardo. Juel was the last surviving member of her immediate family. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Edward T. Bernardo in 2000 and one sister, Patricia Hawkins. Friends will be received from noon-4, 7-9 P.M. Sunday in the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville where a Blessing Service will be held Monday at 9:30 A.M. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 A.M. in the Immaculate Conception R.C. Church, Connellsville with Rev. Terry Hercik as celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Rita's Cemetery. A Parish Wake Service will be held at 8:45 P.M. Sunday in the funeral home. June Gales, 82, of Greensburg, formerly of Indian Head, died Wed. Jan. 14, 2004 in the Greensburg Care Center, Hempfield Twp.
She was born Feb. 8,1921 in Mt.Pleasant a daughter of the late Elmer and Gertrude Kalp Shaffer.
June was a life long resident of the Melcroft/Indian Head area. She had formerly worked for the Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission and also as a Waitress for the New Stanton Restaurant.
June is survived by 2 brothers James Shaffer and his wife Charlotte of Greensburg and Donald Shaffer and his wife Cora Ann of Youngwood, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Arnold J. Gales in 1978, a brother Robert Merle Shaffer, a sister Dorothy Barna, a half brother Henry Elmer Shaffer and a half sister Lillian Alverda Shaffer, and her step mother Bessie Miller Shaffer.
Family and friends will be received in the Clyde Brooks Funeral Home Inc., route 711 Melcroft, Fri. from 2-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held Sat. at 2:00 PM, in the funeral home, with Rev. Kenneth Dale Faidley, 67, of Connellsville died Friday May 31, 2002 in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. He was born July 12, 1934 in Kingwood a son of the late Alvin Andrew and Edith Grace Pletcher Faidley. Dale was the owner and operator of Faidley's Refuse Service for over 35 years. He was also a member of the F.O. Eagles of Connellsville. He is survived by five children, Karen Permuko and her husband Steve of Portersville, Pa., Lisa Emerick and her husband Joseph of Dawson, Melissa Faidley, Dale K. Faidley and Angela Faidley, all of Connellsville; seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren; one brother, Roy Faidley and his wife Geraldine of Connellsville; two sisters, Betty Weis and her husband Ken of Akron, Ohio and Verna Ruth Hillen and her husband Leland of Connellsville and his former wife Rose Faidley of Connellsville. Kenneth L Metzger, 75 of South Connellsville, formerly of Grindstone, died Friday, May 24, 2002 at his home.
He was born Sept. 17, 1926 in Connellsville a son of the late F. Ray and Olive G. Morrow Metzger.
Kenneth had been residing in South Connellsville since 1994. He was a graduate of Connellsville High School with the class of 1944. Prior to his retirement in 1986 he worked as a Clerk for the former P&LE Railroad for 42 years. He was a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church in Connellsville and was a former member of the South Brownsville United Methodist Church and the Fairview United Methodist Church in Grindstone. He was also a member of the Men's Choir at the church and was a former Men's Bible Class Teacher at the South Brownsville U.M. Church. He was a member of the United Methodist Men and was Past District President of the United Methodist Men. Kenneth also was a Volunteer for the Connellsville Community Ministries.
He is survived by his loving wife of 53 years Lois J. Donner Metzger, 4 sons Kenneth C. Metzger and his wife Joyce of Connellsville, Robert C. Metzger and his Fiancée Carole of Smithfield,Mark L. Metzger and his wife Michele of Connellsville and David L. Metzger of Connellsville, 5 grandchildren Bryan Metzger and his wife Jenipher, Greg Metzger,Luke Metzger and his wife Angela, Matthew Metzger and his friend Sarah McCloy, and Amanda Metzger, all of Connellsville, and 2 great grandchildren Seth and Taylor Metzger, 2 brothers Gerald L. Metzger and his wife Frances of South Connellsville, Clyde W. Metzger and his wife Pearl of Connellsville, 2 sisters Audrey J. Metzger of Connellsville and Shirley Driscoll and her husband James G. of Connellsville, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a brother Wayne Metzger.

Laverne C. Pierce, 89 of Ohio, formerly of South Connellsville, died Fri. Jan. 23, 2004 at her place of residence.
She was born Sept. 23, 1914 in Uniontown a daughter of the late Max R. and Myrtle Claire Orndorff.
Laverne was a graduate of Connellsville High School with the class of 1933. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Connellsville. She was also a member of the Golden Aires and the South Connellsville Vol. Fire Dept. Ladies Aux. Laverne enjoyed, along with her late husband Russell and friends, the Hudson Car Shows and ceramics.
Laverne is survived by her loving children Larry R. Pierce and his wife Laura of Delaware OH. and Maxine A. Morgan and her husband Herbert of Sheffield Lake OH., 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. and 1 great great grandchild.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Russell L. Pierce on June 23,2000.

Sleasman Martin. She was a lifetime member of the 313 CB Club and was a member of the Otterbein United Methodist Church and the Win One Sunday School Class. She is survived by two sons, Ronald L. She was born June 30, 1908 in Connellsville a daughter of the late Frank and Augusta Tikey Smidtke.
Leona was a life long resident of Connellsville. During her life she was active in many civic activities. She was a Volunteer for the United Way and for the Connellsville Canteen during WW II.She was also a member of the Connellsville Hospital Ladies Aux. Leona was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Connellsville and it's Catherine VonBora Class.
Leona is survived by her sister Ruth Livingston of Connellsville and a sister-in-law Veronica Smidtke of South Connellsville and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband C.J. Franklin Ellis on June 21,1998, 3 brothers William F., Donald V., and Joseph R. Smidtke and a sister Violet Kerns.

Lester J. Pletcher, 81 of Indian Head,went home March 29,2003, and forever more will dwell in the mansion of the King of Glory.
Lester was born March 9,1922 in Scullton, a son of the late Ross and Bertha Ansell Pletcher. He served as a Sergeant in the U.S. Army during WW II in Africa and Italy.Lester worked for many years as a Carpenter Superintendent with Local #2274 in Pittsburgh. He was a gifted craftsman. He was also a life member of Donegal VFW #6743. Lester attended the Pennsville Baptist Church. Lester leaves to cherish his memory, 2 sisters Evelyn King and her husband Dean of Scullton and Dorothy Horner and her husband Thomas of Martinez GA., a brother Emerson Pletcher and his wife Ruth of Scullton, a special friend Blanch Grimm of Normalville, and many nieces,nephews, brothers-in-law and sisters-in law. Lester was a special friend to anyone who came to know him.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his wife Doris Pritts Pletcher on Jan. 19,2001. 5 brothers Earl,Lloyd,Hubert,Harold, and Calvin (Alec) Pletcher, and a sister Marie Pletcher.

Lloyd D. Oldland, 89, of Ridgway, Pa. formerly of this area died Saturday February 7, 2004 in DuBois Regional Medical Center. He was born June 27, 1914 in West Leisenring, a son of the late Walter L. and Ella F. Rockwell Oldland. He married Minnie L. Tissue, who preceded him in death on August 24, 1992. Mr. Oldland resided in Ridgway for 21 years. He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, Ridgway and the Marion Lodge #562 F&AM of Scottdale, Uniontown Lodge of Perfection, Council Chapter Consistory of the Valley of Pittsburgh, Tall Cedars of Lebanon, The Atomas Club of Westinghouse, Association of Veterans of Western. Pa., Life Member of the Air Force Sgt. Association and the AARP. He served in the US Army and was a veteran of WW II. After WW II he joined the US Air Force where he retired after 25 years of service. He also had been employed by the Atomic Research Lab, Bettis Site, of Westinghouse Electric, for 27 years. He is survived by two children, Betty Lou Adamosky of Butler and Paul L. Oldland of Ridgway and three grandchildren. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family. In addition to his parents and wife he was predeceased by seven brothers, Orrie,Charles, Jesse, Earl, Harry, Ralph and Franklin and five sisters, Esther, Nellie, Olive, Blanch and Priscilla. Friends will be received in the Meehan-Shilk Funeral Home, Ridgway, on Monday from 2-4,7-9 P.M. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday in the funeral home with Rev. Lloyd E. Jack, 57 of Jeffersonville, PA., formerly of Vandergrift, PA. died peacefully, Thur. March 11, 2004 in the Montgomery Hospital, Norristown PA..
He was born Oct. 11,1946 in Harrison PA., a son of the late William and Lena Pierce Jack.
Lloyd had been a resident of Jeffersonville for the last 30 years. He was the Owner/Operator of Advanced Concrete Technologies, a concrete equipment supplier in Lancaster Pa. Lloyd was a Veteran of the Vietnam War having served in the U.S. Army in the Special Forces. He was also a Prisoner of War survivor. Lloyd was a lifetime member of AMBUCS. He was a avid snorkeler and upon his death Lloyd gave the gift of life through organ donation.
Lloyd is survived by his wife Barbara A. Miller Jack, a former resident of Connellsville and graduate of Geibel High School with the class of 1977, a brother Meade Jack and his wife Marlene of Vandergrift, a sister Zelda Larue Casagni and her husband Joe of Buffalo NY., his mother-in-law Dorothy Burkley Miller of Connellsville, 2 sisters-in-law Janice Hay and her husband Robert of Connellsville and Nancy Goodspeed of Atlanta GA., and a brother-in-law Timothy Glenn Miller of Pottstown PA., 2 nieces Tracy Macaluso and her husband Dan of Williamsville PA., and Jill Casagni of Cheektowaga NY., and a nephew Michael Jack and his wife Kerie of New Kensington.

Lois C. Whoric, 78, of Connellsville died Sunday June 2, 2002 in Mt. St. Macrina Manor, Uniontown. She was born October 8, 1923 at Adelaide a daughter of the late Roy and Edith Allen Ambrose. Mrs. Whoric was a graduate of the former Dunbar Twp. High School, Class of 1941. She and her family were partners with her brother, Roy Ambrose and family,in the former Dari-Delite in Connellsville. She was an avid bowler and traveled extensively with her friends. Mrs. Whoric was a member of the Pennsville Baptist Church and the Philethea Class. She is survived by two sons, Randall Whoric and his wife Donna of Connellsville and Barry Whoric and his wife Lisa of Scottdale; six grandchildren, Nathan,Jared,Brandon,Bethany, Brittany and Bradley Whoric; one brother, Roy Ambrose, Jr. and his wife Martha of Wooddale and one sister, June Piasecke of Connellsville. Lois J. Donner Metzger, 73, of South Connellsville, formerly of Grindstone,
died peacefully Thur. March 25, 2004 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Dec. 5, 1930 in Morrell a daughter of the late Henry C. and Clara L. Hegner Donner.
Lois had been a resident of South Connellsville since 1994. She was a loving Homemaker, Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother to her family. She was a member of the Greenwood United Methodist Church in Connellsville and was a former member of the South Brownsville U.M. Church and the Fairview U.M. Church in Grindstone. Lois was a former member and Past President of the Garden Club in Brownsville for 20 years. She was a member of the Christian Women of Uniontown, the Mozart Club, and was a volunteer at the South Connellsville Personnel Care Home. Lois loved Oil Painting and was a member of the Bullskin Twp. Senior Citizens and it's painting club.
Lois is survived by her loving sons Kenneth C. Metzger and his wife Joyce, Mark L. Metzger and his wife Michele, and David L. Donner and his wife Wanda of Sarasota FL. and Henry C. Donner and his wife Wanda L. of Rock Hill SC., her sisters Hazel Hamilton and her husband Wayne of Sarasota FL., Florence Piasecke of Connellsville, and Dorothy Hatfield of North Port FL.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her husband Kenneth L. Metzger on May 24, 2002 and a son Robert C. Metzger on Nov. 21, 2002.
Family and friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC. 111 E. GREEN ST. CONNELLSVILLE, Sat. from 2-4 and 7-9 PM and Sun. from 1-4 and 7-9 PM. A funeral service will be held Mon. at 1:00 PM, in the funeral home, with Rev. Patti Comini-Miller officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.

Lucy Ann (Hatcher) Queer, 82, of Norvelt died Sat. June 21,2003 in the Harmon House, Mt.Pleasant. She was born Dec. 21,1920, in Louisa, Kentucky the second child of James and Brooke Vinson Hatcher. She was a graduate of the former Hurst High School with the class of 1938. Lucy was a member of the Bridgeport United Methodist Church and was a Sunday School teacher at the church. She also attended the McGregor Baptist Church in Fort Myers FL. where she and her husband Don spent many happy winters. Lucy was co-owner of the Donald F. Queer Agency in Latrobe. She was an active participant in the Bullskin Twp. Senior Citizens Center and frequent visits there were always a mutual delight. She was also a member of the Norvelt Women's Club.
Lucy is survived by her loving husband of 62 years Donald F. Queer, whom she married in 1940, a daughter Joyce Wiltrout and her husband Rev. Larry Wiltrout of Washington PA., 2 sons Don Scott and his wife Jea of Norvelt and Barry Scott of Norvelt, a much loved sister-in-law Joanna Hunter of Bridgeport, 7 grandchildren Tracy Dowler of Youngstown, Alan Wiltrout of Washington PA.,Christy Scott of Greensburg, Kelly Scott of Latrobe, Joshua Scott of East Hampton CT.,Troy Wiltrout of Washington PA., and Caleb Scott of Lake Ridge VA., 9 great grandchildren, her youngest brother Franklin R. Hatcher and his wife Beverly of Chambersburg, 5 nephews and 3 nieces. Lucy will be greatly missed by her husband, children, and the entire family and all the many people who's lives she has touched over the years.
In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her older brother Vinson Hatcher, a Bataan Death March survivor, a younger brother Donald Hatcher, and a younger sister Betty Hatcher.
Family and friends will be received in the Brooks Funeral Home Inc.,406 E. Washington St. Mt. Pleasant, from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Mon. & Tue. Additional viewing will be held Wed. from 10 - 11 AM, the hour of a funeral service, in the Bridgeport United Methodist Church, with Rev. Larry Wiltrout, her son-in-law, and Rev. Ardie Hill co-officiating. A committal service and interment will follow in the Westmoreland County Memorial Park, Greensburg. In lieu of flowers the family suggest that contributions be made to the Bridgeport U.M. Church, RD #4, Mt. Pleasant 15666,in memory of Lucy Ann Queer.

Lyric M. Allshouse, 23 month old daughter of Rose Allshouse of Connellsville and Brian Vojtkofsky of New Salem died Saturday July 17, 2004 in Highlands Hospital, Connellsville. She was born August 14, 2002 in Pittsburgh. In addition to her parents she is survived by her maternal grandparents, Pauline Allshouse of Connellsville and Jeff Christner of Scottdale; her paternal grandparents, Ed and Frances Vojtkofsky of New Salem; her maternal great grandfather, Duane Christner of Dawson; her aunts and uncles, Michelle and Hannibal Burton of Miami, Fla., Mike and Wendy Allshouse of North Carolina and Janice and Butch Vojtkofsky of New Salem. She was predeceased by a sister, Jessica Clark and a brother, William John Clark, IV. Friends will be received from 3-9 P.M. Tuesday in the Brooks Funeral Home, Inc., 111 E. Green St., Connellsville where services will be held Wednesday at 11:00 A.M. with Dave Waters officiating. Interment will be in the Dickerson Run Union Cemetery.
