Sue M. Alberta Opfar, 97, of Fayette City, who was born in Wickhaven, Pa., died Sunday, May 27, 2001, in Residence of the Hilltop, Carroll Township, Washington County, Pa.
She is survived by her sister, Rose Alberta Batwinis of Fayette City; and sisters-in-law: Kathryn Alberta of Jeannette, Pa., and Frances Alberta of Roscoe, Pa.
Friends will be received at the Eley-McCrory Funeral Home Inc., 334 Main Street, Fayette City, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 30, until 11 a.m.

Doris J. Redmond
Doris J. Redmond, 80, of Brownsville, Pa., died Sunday, May 27, 2001.
She is survived by three daughters: Judy Christopher and Sharyn Lewis both of Brownsville, Pa., and Vickie Morris of Northfield, Ohio; 10 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Melvin Cottle of Bedford, Ohio.
Private services are under direction of the Skirpan Funeral Home, 135 Park Street, Brownsville, Pa.

Marian E. Schiffbauer
Marian E. Saladin Schiffbauer, 78, of Uniontown, Pa., passed away Monday, May 28, 2001, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia.
She was born June 26, 1922, in Pittsburgh, Pa., daughter of the late Clifford and Irene Saladin.
Her husband, James E. Schiffbauer Sr., died May 25, 1999.
Surviving are seven children: James Schiffbauer and his wife, Mary, of Chalk Hill Pa., and Daniel Schiffbauer and his wife Rose, Janice Mancuso, and Susan Schiffbauer all of Uniontown, Pa., Melinda and her husband, Jim Kefover, of Charleroi, Pa., Paul Schiffbuaer and his wife, Helen, of Virginia Beach, Virginia, and William L. Schiffbauer of Fairchance, Pa.; six grandchildren: Daniel, Michael, James and Leah Schiffbauer, Melissa Mancuso, David Pegg; great-grandchildren: Daniel E. Schiffbauer and Lauren Schiffbauer; and a brother, Clifford Saladin of Pittsburgh, Pa.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Services on Thursday, May 31, will be announced.

Ollie Shaver
Ollie Shaver, 89, of Allison One, Pa., died Sunday morning, May 27, 2001, in Brownsville General Hospital.
Arrangements will be announced by the Muriel E. Lantz Funeral Home, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa.

Teresa M. Smitley
Teresa H. Smitley, 103, of Hopwood, Pa., passed away Monday, May 28, 2001, at her home. She was born August 19, 1897. She was "Mom Smitley" to many she loved and who loved her. Teresa was a member of Hopwood Free Methodist Church. Her husband, William Clyde Smitley, predeceased her. She was the mother of Pastor M. Jean Parry of Hopwood, Pa., and William C. Smitley of North Versailles, Pa.; grandmother to David Parry of Douglasville, Georgia, and Bonnie Duncan of Lancaster, Pa. She has three great-grandchildren: Matthew, Tommy, and Elizabeth.
Friends will be received in the DONALD R. CRAWFORD FUNERAL HOME, Hopwood, Pa., on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Visitation continues Friday, June 1, in Hopwood Free Methodist Church from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Moull officiating.
Interment will follow in Braddock Cemetery, Braddock, Pa.

John Milton Snyder
John Milton Snyder, 56, of Nemacolin, Pa., passed away Sunday, May 27, 2001, in Greene County Memorial Hospital, Waynesburg, Pa.
He was born December 25, 1944, in Labelle, Pa., son of Emerson Snyder and Martha Dixon Snyder.
John served in the United States Army from 1960 to 1964 and then in the Reserves for several years.
He was a retired Inspection Mechanic for Roysters Company in Masontown, Pa., the Lead Guitarist for numerous Country Bands, a member of Masontown Fish and Game Club, Leckrone Rod and Gun Club, and Masontown V.F.W., and received his G.E.D. from the former German Township High School.
A brother, Emerson "Curley" Snyder died in 1995. His parents are also deceased.
He is survived by his fiancee, Gloria M. "Bo" Brooks; five children: Mrs. Joseph (Sherry) Santalucci of Chautauqua, New York, Mrs. Kevin (Shelly) Leadbeater of Smithfield, Pa., Mrs. Frank (Tammy) Chelsa of Latrobe, Pa., Mrs. Clarence (April) McKahan of Nemacolin, Pa., and Johnetta Snyder at home; 15 grandchildren; also Tawny Newman, whom he called his sixth daughter, of Washington, Pa.; six sisters: Mary Howard of Lemont Furnace, Pa., Judy Milliken Snyder, Delores Fordyce Snyder and Mrs. Robert (Deborah) Lewis all of Uniontown, Pa., Ina Willingham of Kent, Ohio, and Mazie Cougher of McClellandtown, Pa.; three brothers: Gene "Punk" Snyder of Smithfield, Pa., Charles "Chuck" Snyder of Gates, Pa., and Recknard Snyder of Uniontown, Pa.
Friends will be received in the JAMES D. BARNETT FUNERAL HOME, 196 West Main Street, Uniontown, Pa., today from 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., and Thursday, May 31, from 10 a.m. until 11 am. Services will begin at 11 a.m. with Rev. Roland O'Brien and Rev. Dale Rexrode officiating.
Interment will follow in Church Hill Cemetery, McClellandtown, Pa., where Military Honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 400 of Carmichaels, Pa.

Jack C. Thornton
Jack C. Thornton, 73, of McClellandtown, Pa., died Saturday morning, May 26, 2001, at his home.
He was born March 6, 1928, in Wheeling, West Virginia, son of William Thornton and Helen Kinney Thornton.
Jack served three years in the United States Navy, was a retired Welder from United States Steel's Irwin Works, was a Portrait Painter and a Jewelry Craftsman, and a member of Duck Hollow Golf Course where he was known as "Thunder" to his golf buddies and "Pap Jack" to his family and friends.
A sister, Marie Thornton Jones, brothers, William Thornton Jr. and Robert Thornton, and his parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Henrietta English Thornton; two daughters: Carmen Still, Atlanta, Georgia, and Marlella Thomas, Uniontown, Pa.; four sons: Jack Thornton Jr., Warren, Ohio, Craig Thornton, Philadelphia, Pa., Albert Thornton, Altoona, Pa., and Darryle Thornton, Edenborn, Pa.; three sisters: Barbara Nelson, Pittsburgh, Pa., Patricia Thornton, Steubenville, Ohio, and Virginia Smoot, Columbus, Ohio; two brothers: Michael Thornton and Jan Thornton both of Steubenville, Ohio; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Henry and Pearl English of Edenborn, Pa.; grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and a dear friend, Kevin Frye of Edenborn, Pa.
Friends will be received in the MURIEL E. LANTZ FUNERAL HOME, 297 East Main Street, Uniontown, Pa., on Wednesday from 5 to 9 p.m. where Services will be held Thursday, May 31, at 11 a.m. with Rev. Alfred Thompson officiating.
Interment, Greendale Cemetery, Masontown, Pa.

Bradley W. Tiberi
Bradley W. "Brad" Tiberi, 17, of Keisterville, Pa., died Friday, May 25, 2001, in Uniontown Hospital.
He was born August 30, 1983, in Uniontown, Pa., son of Paul Tiberi Jr. and LouAnn LaMonica Tiberi of Keisterville.
Brad was a Senior at Uniontown Area High School and an avid basketball player.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Patsy LaMonica and Anna Tressa LaMonica, and his paternal grandparents, Paul Tiberi Sr. and Susan Lecorochick Tiberi.
In addition to his parents he is survived by a sister, Pam and her husband, Jeremy Bobish, of Smithfield, Pa.; a brother, Randy Tiberi and his wife, Celeste, of Palmer-Adah, Pa.; uncles and aunts: Phil and John LaMonica, Rita Groves, Maryann Repon, Donna Kutek, and Jim Tiberi; nieces and nephews: Monica, Randy Jr. and Hillary Tiberi, Cecily and Jay Bobish; and his girlfriend, Racine Richter.
Friends will be received in the ROBERT T. KISH FUNERAL HOME INC., 20 North Mill Street, New Salem, Pa., today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday, May 30, until 11 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.
Funeral Mass follows at 11:30 a.m. in Holy Rosary Church, Republic, with Rev. Fr. Stephen R. Bugay as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Parish Wake Service will be held today at 3 p.m.

Michael Utlak Jr.
Michael Utlak Jr., 80, of Bethel Park, Pa., and formerly of Uniontown, Pa., died Sunday, May 27, 2001, in St. Clair Hospital, Pittsburgh.
He was born January 18, 1921, in Mount Braddock, Fayette County, Pa., son of Michael Utlak Sr. and Katrina Orinchin Utlak.
Michael was a Veteran of World War II, member of St. Gregory Byzantine Catholic Church, member of St. John Damansene Choir, former Cantor of the Church, member of V. F. W. Post 47 in Uniontown, Pa., former student at Duquesne University and also The University of Pittsburgh, and retired from Sears where he had worked for 37 years.
He was the Husband of Helen Skunda Utlak; Father of Marcella and her husband James Joswick, Michael Utlak and his wife Sherry, Kathleen Utlak Rausch, Paulette and her husband Frederick Tuning, Sonya and her husband James Bauer, Marietta and her husband Gregory Irvin, and Nadine Utlak Kowal; Brother of Marie LaVechia, Theodore Utlak, Catherine Chemsak, Victor Utlak, and the late Sister Michael Utlak, O.S.B.M., Ann Utlak, and Rev. Fr. Eugene Utlak; Grandfather of Kelly Tuning and Leslie Tuning, Christopher Bauer, Jeremy Rausch and Jason Rausch, Kirsten Utlak and Kelsey Utlak, Nicholas Irvin and Jacob Irvin; and Great Grandfather of Collin Ewing.
Friends will be received at the PAUL L. HENNEY MEMORIAL CHAPEL, 5570 Library Road, Bethel Park, Pa., (412-835-1312), today from 2 to 9 p.m.
Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 30, at 9 a.m. in St. Gregory Byzantine Catholic Church, Upper St. Clair, Pa., with Rev. Fr. Bruno as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. John The Baptist Byzantine Cemetery, Hopwood, Fayette County, Pa.

Louis J. Volpe
Louis J. Volpe, 87, of Grays Landing, Pa., died Friday, May 25, 2001, in Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, West Virginia.
He was born October 25, 1913, in Martin, Fayette County, Pa., son of Joseph Volpe and Angeline Cupp Volpe.
Mr. Volpe was a member of All Saints Roman Catholic Church in Masontown.
He was a Coal Miner retired from Nemacolin Mine, a licensed Ham Radio Operator, had served as an Auditor for Nicholson Township, and was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was a member of United Mine Workers of America District 2 and the former Moose Lodge.
Above all else he was a loving Husband, and devoted Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather.
His parents, a grandson, Donald J. Hannah Jr., a brother, Nathan "Najoe" Volpe, and several sisters preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife, Mildred L. Bohan Volpe, with whom he celebrated 62 years of marriage on May 5; two daughters: Mary Ann and her husband, Don Hannah, of Geneva, Ohio, and Angela Oleski of Concord, California; three grandchildren: Donan M. Hannah, Trena Lee Hannah, and David Anthony Oleski; three great-grandchildren: Hannah Leigh Sposito, Amelia J. MacWilliams, and Cody Oleski; a sister-in-law, Patricia Volpe; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received in the HAKY FUNERAL HOMES INC., 515 North Main Street, Masontown, Pa., today, May 29, until 9:45 a.m. when a Prayer Service will be held.
A Mass of Christian Burial follows at 10 a.m. in All Saints Roman Catholic Church, Masontown, with Rev. Fr. James F. Bump as Celebrant.
Interment will follow in St. Agnes Cemetery, Leckrone, Pa.
Visitation was also held Memorial Day from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
