Corabel "Mick" Millheim

Corabel “Mick” Millheim, 90, of Muncy, died April 27, 2012 at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, where she had been a resident for the last two and a half years.

Born May 3, 1921 in Northumberland County, she was the last surviving child of the late Lewis and Matilda (Stahlnecker) Heddings.

Mick was truly an outdoors lady. She took great pleasure in planting large vegetable and flower gardens. She spent many hours walking in the woods with her wild flower and bird books. In her younger days she enjoyed hunting and fishing with her husband, son-in-law and grandson.

Surviving are one daughter, Shirley Walters (Ted), of Muncy; one grandson, Dr. Rick Walters (Lynne) and their daughters, Savannah and Kacie, of New Tripoli; one granddaughter, Cameron Myers (John) and their sons, Zachary, Kyle, Matthew and Daulton, of Hughesville; one step-daughter, Ruth Spurlin (Jim), of Augusta, GA and their children, Michael, Pamela, Robert and Heidi.

In addition to her parents Mick was predeceased by her husband, Robert Millheim; four sisters, Helen Johnson, Mary Cooper, Marie Kratzer and Ada Marter; and two brothers, Larry and Robert Heddings.

In keeping with Mick’s wishes, there will be no visitation and services will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family is being assisted by Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy.

Norman L. Weigle

Norman L. Weigle, 79, of 103 Dunkleberger Road, Williamsport, died Friday, April 13, 2012 at the Gatehouse Hospice Center, Williamsport.

Born August 14, 1932 in Williamsport, he was a son of the late Clyde and Marie (Waltz) Weigle. On April 12, 1997, he married the former Nancy A. (Musser) Stiger, who survives.

Norm was a graduate of Williamsport High School and was a US Air Force veteran. He retired from Bethlehem Steel after more than 25 years, where he worked in the maintenance department. In his younger years, he helped his father build homes.

Norm was a member of The Door Fellowship, Williamsport, and the Hemlock Hunting Club.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 15 years are two sons, Steven (Leslie) Weigle, of Naples, FL and Keith (Sue Larson) Weigle, of Williamsport; three daughters, Lori Weigle Meyers and husband Joseph, of Montpelier, VA, Lynne Weigle Snow and husband Jeffrey, of Alexandria, VA and Trudi Weigle Harris and husband James, of Richmond, VA; three stepdaughters, Lorie (John) McCarty, of Muncy, Kellie Grieco, of Montoursville and Leslie (James) Gilbert, of Williamsport; two brothers, Jerry (Mary Sue) Weigle and Gene (Kathryn) Weigle, all of Williamsport; and 20 grandchildren.

In addition to his parents he was predeceased by a son, Kevin Weigle, who died in 1981.

The funeral will be held at noon on Monday, April 16, at The Door Fellowship, 470 Pine St., Williamsport. Officiating will be his minister, Pastor Wayne Holcomb. Burial will follow in State Road Church Cemetery, Lycoming Twp.

Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to noon on Monday at the church.

Franklin W. Stahl

Franklin W. Stahl, 76, of 1178 Mall Road, Montoursville, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012 at the Muncy Valley Hospital emergency room.

Born May 25, 1935 in Danville, he was a son of the late Arthur and Stella (Bortz) Stahl. On Nov. 8, 1954 he married the former Maxine L. Leavy, who survives.

Frank was employed for 45 years with the Lycoming Housing Authority, where he performed maintenance duties. He was a member of the N.R.A. and enjoyed being outdoors tending to his garden, caring for his lawn, or camping with his family. Frank was an avid NASCAR fan, and he spent several winters in Florida.

Surviving in addition to his wife of 57 years are one son and daughter-in-law, Tim and Audrey Stahl of Cogan Station; one daughter, Vickie Bower of Muncy; two brothers and one sister-in-law, Charles and Nancy Stahl of Montoursville and George Stahl of Hughesville; three grandchildren, Joshua Bower and his wife Joani, Andrew Stahl and Benjamin Stahl; and three great-grandchildren, Breanna Bower, Kaitlyn Miller and Amaya Bower.

The funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be Rev. Michael Wright, pastor of Community Baptist Church, Montoursville. Burial will follow in St. James Lutheran (White) Church Cemetery, Muncy.

Friends will be received from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. on Saturday at the funeral home.

Grace M. Swisher

Grace M. Swisher, 81, of 5078 Moreland Baptist Rd., Unityville, passed away Thursday, April 26, 2012 at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born February 7, 1931 at home in Penn Township, Lycoming County, she was a daughter of the late Jasper and Lena (Weaver) Holmes. She and her husband, Melvin E. Swisher, who survives, were married June 14, 1950.

Grace worked at the former International Furniture Company, Montoursville for five years.

She was a member of Salem United Methodist Church, Unityville.

Grace was fond of flowers. She enjoyed sewing, baking and collecting chicken figurines. Most of all she loved spending time with and caring for her family.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 61 years are three children and their spouses, John Swisher, of Knoxville, TN, Cathy Bomboy (Keith) and Melvin “Chip” Swisher, Jr. (Betty), all of Unityville; three brothers, Chester Bruce Holmes, Oliver Wendell Holmes, and Herbert Carl Holmes; five sisters, Anna Blanche Frantz, Myra Derrick, Clara Jane Bower, Norma Whitmoyer, and Mildred Schreffler; six grandchildren, Tessie Savage, Brittany Ellison, Marisa Reeder, Melvin Ammon Swisher, Kyle and Chad Bomboy ; and two great-grandchildren, Noah Savage and Chase Ellison.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by one brother, Warren Holmes and one sister, Nellie Budman.

The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, at Grenoble’s, 121 S. Main St., Muncy. Officiating will be her pastor, Rev. James R. Sunderland, Jr. Burial will follow in the Salem Cemetery, Unityville.

The family welcomes flowers; however, if desired, contributions may be made to Salem United Methodist Church and mailed to Vera Lewis, Treasurer, 241 S. Gordner Church Rd., Unityville, PA 17774.

Janet M. Stroup
(November 22, 1940 - January 8, 2012)

Janet M. Stroup, 71, a resident of South Market Street, Muncy, PA, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 8, 2012 in the Gatehouse at Williamsport, PA following a brief illness. Born in Franklin Twp., Lycoming County, PA, on Friday, November 22, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Buss and Adda (Gordner) Diltz.

Janet was the wife of William B. Stroup with whom she celebrated a 39th wedding anniversary on July 20, 2011.

She was a 1958 graduate of Hughesville High School. Janet was employed by the former GTE Sylvania at Montoursville and was last employed by the former Atwood Fabrics at Muncy. Janet had also been employed as a home health aid. Her most enjoyable job of all was raising her family.

She was a member of the New Life Church at Pennsdale, PA. She enjoyed sewing, reading, traveling and puzzles.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by five children, Sherry (George Lightcap) Stroup, Blackwood, NJ; Douglas (Karen) Stroup, Berwick, PA; Eric (Erica) Stroup, Picture, Rocks, PA; Richard Stroup, Muncy, PA; Randy Stroup, Muncy, PA; two sisters, Leona (Alan) Poust, Hughesville, PA; Dorothy (Carl) Fraley, Muncy, PA; five grandchildren, Chylee Stroup; Sara Stroup; Benjamin Stroup; Lauren Stroup and Timothy Stroup. She was preceded in death by one brother, Calvin O. Diltz.

A memorial service will be conducted from the New Life Church, 1006 Village Road, Pennsdale, PA at 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, January 21, 2012 with Reverend Robert A. Lauver, her pastor, officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to the American Diabetes Association, 3544 North Progress Avenue, Suite 101, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to The Gatehouse, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701. Arrangements are being handled by the Galen R. Betzer Funeral Service, 108 North Main Street, Muncy, PA.
