Donna C. Paloskey

Donna C. Paloskey, 76, of 11593 Renovo Road, North Bend, died Monday, April 23, 2012 at the Williamsport Regional Medical Center.

Born Dec. 5, 1935 in Lock Haven, she was a daughter of the late J. Nevin and Izetta Beryl (Miller) Blesh. On July 21, 1956, she married Edward P. Paloskey, Sr., who survives.

A 1953 graduate of Lock Haven High School, she received a degree in nursing from Temple University in 1956 and also earned a bachelor’s degree in education from Lock Haven University. Donna was employed as a school nurse for 22 years with the Keystone Central School District, and from 1977 to 1987 she was the Director of Nursing at the Bucktail Medical Center. Following her retirement from Keystone Central School District, she returned to work at Bucktail Medical Center, where she performed part-time nursing duties.

Donna was a member of P.A.S.R., Temple Alumni Association, and Lock Haven University Alumni Association.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 55 years are one daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Clair Folkenroth of Dover; one son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Stacy Paloskey of Renovo; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John N. and Ginger Blesh of Dunnstown and H. Joel and Kathy Blesh of Farrandsville; one sister, Phyllis J. Grenoble of Jersey Shore; 6 grandchildren, Jennifer Hagerman, Lisa Cajigas, Rashel Paloskey, Matthew Paloskey, Bryce Paloskey, and Edward Paul “PJ” Paloskey III; 8 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral will be held at noon on Thursday, April 26, at Covenant United Methodist Church, 44 W. Main St., Lock Haven. Officiating will be Calvin “Chip” Young, friend. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Lock Haven.

Friends will be received from 6 to 8 pm Wednesday at the church, and again on Thursday prior to the service from 11 am to noon.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either Bucktail Medical Center, 1001 Pine Street, Renovo, PA 17764, or the Clinton County S.P.C.A., 33 Mill Hill Road, Lock Haven, PA 17745.

Helen E. Reaser

Helen E. Reaser, 93, a resident of Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit for the past year, and formerly of Muncy and Montgomery, died Saturday, May 19, 2012 at the nursing unit.

Born Sept. 3, 1918 in Deerfield, NJ, she was a daughter of the late Paul G. and Eliza (Cattell) Baitinger. Her husband, A. Franklin Reaser, preceded her in death on Jan. 29, 1970.

A graduate of Bridgeton, NJ, High School, she continued her education at the Hahnemann Hospital School of Nursing in Philadelphia, where she received her R.N. degree in 1939. Helen then worked at Norristown State Hospital, where she met her husband. In 1940 they moved to Carbondale and then to Montgomery, and Helen later lived in Muncy. She was employed at the Muncy Valley Hospital for a short time before accepting a position at Muncy State Correctional Institution, where she worked for 21 years and retired in 1979 as head nurse.

Helen was a member of Christ Evangelical Lutheran Church, Montgomery. She was also a member of PA Assoc. of Retired State Employees (PARSE). In her spare time she volunteered at Red Cross bloodmobiles. Helen spent lots of time in her flower garden where she enjoyed observing the many birds who visited there. When she was younger, she did a lot of sewing and made much of her own clothing.

Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Carolyn Reaser of Cedar Grove, NJ and Jim and Janice Reaser of Sinking Spring; two brothers, Paul Baitinger, Jr. of Upper Deerfield Twp., NJ and John (Maryellen) Baitinger of Alloway, NJ; two sisters, Marian Dwyer of Charlestown, MD and Jean VanVleit of Wilmington, DE; one sister-in-law, Arlene Opp of Muncy; four grandchildren, Amy (Eric) Diggan, Michael (Allison) Reaser, Brian (Maria) Reaser and Lauren (Christopher) DeLaura; and four great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Lauren and Lindsey Diggan and Lillian Reaser.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by two sisters, Harriet Rector and Anna Gubbine.

A graveside service will be held at 1 pm on Wednesday, May 23, at St. John Lutheran “Brick” Church Cemetery, Route 405, Montgomery. Officiating will be Rev. David K. Fishel, Chaplain at Susquehanna Health System.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit, 215 E. Water St., Muncy, PA 17756.

Shirley M. Lantz

Shirley M. Lantz, 72, of Williamsport, died Nov. 21, 2008 at Rose View Center, Williamsport.

Born May 11, 1936 in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Benjamin Sr., and Bessie Craven Weller.

She was a member of the graduating class of 1954 of the Montgomery High School.

She was retired from Sodexho, Inc at Williamsport.

Surviving are her husband, Robert E. Lantz, at home, a son, James Douglas Weller of Williamsport, a stepdaughter, Cheryl J. Fox of Montoursville, a stepson, Robert E. Lantz, II of Linden; four sisters, Rosemary and her husband, Eugene Henley of Williamsport, Doris and her husband William Flick of Bastress, Joan and her husband, Charles Cunningham of Poughkeepsie, NY, and Judy Rooker of Williamsport, a brother, Benjamin, Jr. and his wife, Sue Weller, one granddaughter; and four great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death a sister, Betty Barto and by her late brother, Eugene Weller.

Funeral services were held Nov. 25, at the Charles M. Noll Funeral Home, 1South Williamsport. Rev. Mark D. Brumbach, pastor at South Williamsport United Methodist Church, officiated. Interment was in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.

Margaret E. Meeker

Margaret E. Meeker, age 91, Bloomsburg, died Nov. 20, 2008 in the Skilled Nursing Unit of the Muncy Valley Hospital, where she had been a patient since Sept. 23.

Born in Mifflin Twp., she was a daughter of the late Virgin and Ella (McAfee) Hunsinger. She resided in the Bloomsburg area most of her life.

She was a 1935 graduate of the former Mifflin Twp. High School.Mrs. Meeker was a waitress and also at one time was employed as a cook at the Bloomsburg Memorial Elementary School. She belonged to the Wesley United Methodist Church, Bloomsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Meeker, on Aug. 4, 1986. Surviving are a daughter, Penny I., wife of Frank S. Kutz, Muncy; son, Thomas L. Meeker and his fiance Christine Haney, Bloomsburg; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a twin sister, Mildred Balitza, Berwick; and brother, Walter Hunsinger, Coral Gables, Fla.

Funeral services were held Nov. 24 at the Dean W. Kriner, Inc. Funeral Home, Bloomsburg; with her pastor, the Rev. Jay E. Jones, officiating. Internment was in Elan Memorial Park, Lime Ridge.

Ethel M. (Gray) Bigger

Ethel M. (Gray) Bigger, 87, of Muncy, died Wednesday, Nov. 19, 2008, at her home.

Born Nov. 9, 1921, in Picture Rocks, she was a daughter of the late Clyde and Bernice Barto Gray.

Her husband of 58 years, Donald H. Bigger Sr., preceded her in death on March 25, 1998.

A 1939 graduate of the Danville Area School Class, she was previously employed at the Milton Shoe Factory and Milton Wood Products. She was also an Avon Representative for many years and retired from the Muncy Valley Hospital in 1988, after having worked there for over 10 years.

Mrs. Bigger was a member of the Friends Evangelical Church, Hughesville for over 40 years. Her service to the Lord included Ecroyd Missionary Circle, church Treasurer, Sunday School teacher, Youth Group Leader, serving on the Hospitality Committee and Elder. She held Good News Clubs, volunteered for the Sonlight House, Meals on Wheels and the Muncy Valley Hospital. She also loved hunting, in her earlier years, and spending time with her family.

Surviving are a son, Donald H. (Janet) Bigger Jr. of Turbotville; four daughters, Betty L. Meckley of Milton, Mary C. (Carl Jr.) Buck of Montgomery, Cheryl A. (John) Laudenslager of Watsontown and Donna K. (Jim Jr.) Reichard of Watsontown; a sister, Maude Martyn of Virginia; 12 grandchildren, Staci Calabro, Jeffery Bigger, Lisa Lapp, John Meckley III, Michael Meckley, Dawn Fleming, Wendy Haynes, Gregory Buck, Joshua Laudenslager, Kristin Laudenslager, Eric Wagner and Stefanie Wagner; three step-grandchildren, Erika Reichard, James Reichard III and Danielle Reichard; 15 great grandchildren; and five step-great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son-in-law, John E. Meckley Jr.; a sister, Evelyn Gray; and two brothers, Paul and Clyde Gray Jr.

Funeral services were held Nov. 24 at the Evangelical Friends Church, with the Rev. Dan Cale and Rev. Richard Gesslinger co-officiating. Burial was in Twin Hills Memorial Park, Muncy. Memorial contributions may also be directed to the Evangelical Friends Church, Hughesville.
