Steven E. Henry
MIFFLINTOWN - Steven E. Henry, 39, of Mifflintown RR4, died Friday, Nov. 9, 2001, at his home. Born March 22, 1961, in Lewistown, he was the son of David and Janet (Gray) Henry, Port Royal RR1. His wife, Joan (Krinjeck) Henry, survives. His service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the South Juniata Baptist Church, Honey Grove RR1, with Pastor Dennis R. Thompson Jr. officiating. Interment will be in the McCullochs Mills Cemetery. Friends may call noon-9 p.m. today, where the family will be present 7-9 p.m., at the Henry Funeral Home, Honey Grove, and 1 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the church.

Angel L. Hepner
MOUNT UNION - Angel L. Hepner, 29, of 124 Hartman Village, Mount Union, died at 2:45 a.m. Friday May 4, 2001, at the Western Penn Hospital, Pittsburgh, following an extended illness. Born March 28, 1972 in Lewistown, she was a daughter of Dale E. Hepner, Yadkinville, NC and Joseph C. and Roberta "Robin" (Plank) Snyder of Newtown Hamilton, who survive. Also surviving are: children, Trenton McConaughey and Tory McConaughey, both at home; brothers and a sister; Dale E. "Chuck" Hepner Jr., Mapleton, Joey Snyder, Mike Snyder and Scott Snyder, all of Newton Hamilton, and Shane Hepner and Michelle Beal, both of North Carolina. She was a 1991 graduate of Mount Union Area High School. She was a member of the Wesleyan Church, Mount Union. She had been employed at the Huntingdon County Head Start of Mount Union. Her funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wesleyan Church in Mount Union with the Rev. Rod Uhlig officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 10 a.m. Tuesday until the time of the service at the church. The Robert D. Heath Funeral Home in Mount Union is in charge of arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia/Lymphoma Society, Two Gateway Center, Pittsburgh, PA 15222, or to Hope Lodge, 125 Lucy Ave., Hummelstown, PA 17036, or to Family House, 514 N. Neville St., Pittsburgh, PA 15222.

Ethel M. Hepner
LEWISTOWN - Ethel M. Hepner, 65, wife of Emory Hepner, of 40 W. Sponagle Ave., Lewistown, formerly of Mcalisterville, died Saturday at Lewistown Hospital. The funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Sheaffer Funeral Home, McAlisterville, with the viewing one hour prior to the service.

Neda J. Herbster
BELLEVILLE - Neda J. Herbster, 94, a resident of Valley View Haven, formerly of Snyder County, died at 9:02 a.m. Friday, March 30, 2001 at Valley View Haven, 4702 E. Main St., Belleville. Born Nov. 1, 1906 in Snyder County, she was a daughter of the late Howard S. and E. Jane (Bowersox) Zechman. Her husband Charles C. Herbster preceded her in death on Nov. 20, 2000. Surviving are: a daughter, Jean Norman, 20 Chestnut St., Beaver Springs; a sister, Celesta Boyer, Lewisburg; seven grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles H. Herbster, on Nov. 20, 2000. She was also preceded in death by two brothers and five sisters. She was employed at the American Viscose Corp. and prior to that at the Beavertown Silk Mill. She was a member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Beavertown. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family with the Rev. Galen Sharp officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown. Memorial contributions may be made to: United Church of Christ, Beavertown, PA 17813. Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown is in charge of arrangements.

Morine L. Herron
MIFFLINTOWN - Morine L. Herron, 93, of Mifflintown RR5, formerly of Montgomery, Ala., died at 9 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 2, 2001, at her home. Born Feb. 22, 1907, in Perry County, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Josiah and Virilla Estelle (Kinard) Stewart. Her husband, Vonnie H. Herron, preceded her in death. Surviving are: a daughter, Dorothy V. Markle, Mifflintown RR5; brother and sisters, James Stewart and Jorine Petty, both of Columbus, Ga., N. Louise Agrue, Montgomery, Ala., and Norma Pilkinton, Phenix City, Ala.; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles E. "Billy" Herron; two sisters, Ollie Bell Beck and W. Myrtle Walker; and a brother, Fred "Buck" Stewart. She retired as the head seamstress for St. Margret's Hospital, Montgomery, Ala. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, and spending time with her family. Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. James R. Bramer officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal. Friends may call from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.

Clay B. Herto
REEDSVILLE - Clay B. Herto, 82, of Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin, formerly of West Railroad Street, Reedsville, Mifflin, died at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2001, at the home. Born Feb. 7, 1919, in Bethlehem, he was a son of the late Harry B. and Eunice (Bigelow) Herto. His wife, Mary Ruth (Bumgardner) Herto, died Feb. 16, 1985. Surviving are: a son, Gary Lee Herto, Suffolk, VA; brothers and sister, Earl Herto, Milroy, James Herto, Lewistown, and Averal Reese, California; three grandchildren, Alan Lee and his wife, Joan, Lorton, VA, Richard Keith and his wife, Bonnie and Jeri Lyn Gelbaugh Yarnell and her husband, Lorenzo, both of Suffolk, VA; and four great-grandchildren, Michele Gelbaugh, Jennifer Gelbaugh, Kristen Herto and Adam Herto, all of Suffolk, VA. He was preceded in death by a son, Dennis D. Herto on Nov. 8, 1967. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served with the Medical Corps. He retired from Standard Steel in 1981. Early in life, he worked locally with the Civilian Conservation Camp. A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville, with the Rev. Ed L. Moore officiating. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville. Memorial contributions may be made to: Salem United Methodist Church, 2 Feeder Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.

James E. 'Jim' Hertzler
COCHISE, Ariz. - James E. "Jim" Hertzler, 81, of Cochise, Ariz., died at 6:34 a.m. Friday, Feb. 2, 2001, at the Southern Arizona VA Healthcare Hospital, Tucson, Ariz. Born April 7, 1919, in Walker Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Harvey J. and Margaret M. (Kauffman) Hertzler. Surviving are: children, Charles J. Hertzler, Gregory, Mich., Mrs. Ronald (Linda M.) Hawkins and Mrs. John (Debra L.) Robu, both of Stockbridge, Mich., Mrs. George (Pam S.) Price, Genoa, W. Va., and Mrs. Keith (Terrie L.) Broesamle, Munith, Mich; two sisters, Mary Ellen Zerbe, Nazareth and Helen B. Redmond, Mechanicsburg; nine grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Martha Sheaffer. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, having attained the rank of Tech 5th grade and serving with the 607th Tank Destroyer Battalion in the European and African Theatres. He retired in 1981 with 28 years of service as a field worker for Panhandle Eastern Pipeline of Michigan and Wyoming. He was a life member of the VFW Post 6397 and a member of the American Legion Post 48, both of Garnett, Kan. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with Donald Prye officiating. Interment will be in the Adam's Cemetery, Mifflintown RR4, where full military honors will be provided by the Juniata County Veterans Council. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.

Robert B. Hesser
MATTAWANA - Robert B. Hesser, 69, of Mattawana, died at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001, at the Hershey Medical Center. Born Feb. 11, 1932, in Bratton Township, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Annie (Kauffman) Hesser. His wife, Dorothy A. (Anderson) Hesser, whom he married June 9, 1957, survives. Also surviving are: three daughters, Mrs. Terry (Diane) McCallips, Lewistown, Mrs. Harold (Cathy) Richardson, Hermitage and Mrs. Ronald (Linda) Bank, Harrisburg; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Lois R. Hesser, and four brothers, Edward E. Hesser Sr., Norman C. Hesser, Carl D. Hesser and Melvin L. Hesser Sr. He was a Korean War veteran of the United States Army. He was a 1959 graduate of Elizabethtown College. He was employed as a fisheries biologist for the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission, retiring in 1991 with more than 30 years of service. He was a member of the McVeytown Presbyterian Church, where he taught the Westminster Sunday School class for 35 years. He also served as a church elder, trustee and choir member. He was moderator of the Huntingdon Presbytery in 1997. He was a member of the Lewistown Country Club and sang with the One Way Quartet and played the fiddle with the Polka Dots. He was an avid fisherman, hunter and golfer. His funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at the McVeytown Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Jeanette Rapp officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, and from 8:30 a.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the McVeytown Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 323, McVeytown, PA 17051.
