Jeptha S. Hostetler
MILROY - Jeptha S. Hostetler, 80, of 260 Stage Road, Milroy, died at 6:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001, at his home. Born Sept. 4, 1923, in Brown Township, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Solomon Y. and Mary (Speicher) Hostetler. His wife, Miriam E. Hostetler, preceded him in death on Nov. 27, 1998. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Isaac M (Mary) Yoder, Mrs. Christian (Elizabeth) Speicher, Jesse S. Hostetler and Rubin D. Hostetler, all of Milroy, Mrs. Samuel (Miriam) Yoder and Mrs. Jonathan (Rachel) Hostetler both of Reedsville; sisters Ruth S. Yoder, Reedsville, and Barbara S. Yoder, McClure, brother, Christian S. Hostetler, Reedsville, 23 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister. He was a member of the Old Order Amish. His funeral will be held at noon Friday at his home. Interment will be in Back Mountain Cemetery, Milroy. Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Avenue, Burnham, is in charge of the arrangements.

John M. Hostetler
MCVEYTOWN - John M. Hostetler, 87, of US Hwy. 522S, McVeytown, died at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 7, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Feb. 19, 1914, in Mattawana, he was the son of the late Jefferson D. and Barbara M. (Harshbarger) Hostetler. His wife, Frances M. (Koch) Hostetler, preceded him in death on April 30, 1998. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Arthur L. (Carol) Kohler, Hesston RR1; two foster sons, Terry E. Colyer, New Jersey and Eugene Sullivan, McClure; a sister, Mrs. Leroy (Lois R.) Peachey, Belleville; two grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a number of foster grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two foster sons, William J. Cook and Kirby W. Wagner; sisters, Alice Bratton and Grace Anderson; and brothers, David Hostetler and Russell Hostetler. He was a World War II veteran of the United States Navy Seebees. He retired from Standard Steel heat treating department in 1977 with 30 years of service. He also farmed for many years and worked for the former Booth Funeral Home in McVeytown for 37 years. He was a member of the Strodes Mills Baptist Church, the McVeytown Fire and Ambulance Companies, and the Loyal Order of the Moose #143, Lewistown. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Strodes Mills Baptist Church, with the Rev. Jonathan God officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown.

Noah H. Hostetler
REEDSVILLE - Noah H. Hostetler, 3, son of Moses J. and Esther (Hostetler) Hostetler of 8098 East Back Mountain Road, Reedsville, died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 7, 2001, at Hershey Medical Center. He was a member of the Old Order Amish. His service will be held at noon Tuesday at the Hostetler residence. Interment will be in Back Mountain Cemetery, Milroy. Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Sadie K. Hostetler
MATTAWANA - Sadie K. Hostetler, 74, of Open Door Personal Care Home, Mattawana, formerly of Belleville, died at 6:10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2001, at the home. Born April 23, 1927, in Belleville, she was a daughter of the late Noah D. and Mattie K. (King) Hostetler. She is survived by brothers, Ben S. Hostetler, Alvin M. Hostetler, Sollie D. Hostetler, all of Belleville and Elam K. Hostetler, McVeytown; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was preceded in death by sisters, Lizzie M. Kauffman, Nancy Hostetler and Ada E. Hostetler. She was a member of the Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church, Reedsville. Her service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Pleasant View Amish Mennonite Church, 490 Green Lane, Reedsville, with ministers, Dan King, Jesse Lee Spicher and Bishop David J. Peachey officiating. Interment will be in Locust Grove Cemetery, Belleville. Friends may call 6-8:30 p.m. today at the church. Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville is in charge of arrangements.

Simeon Y. Hostetler
REEDSVILLE - Simeon Y. Hostetler, 93, of Reedsville, died Sunday, Jan. 28, 2001, at the home of his daughter in Milroy. Born Aug. 7, 1907, in Reedsville, he was the son of the late Reuben and Salina (Yoder) Hostetler. He is survived by children, Elizabeth Zook and Rudy Hostetler, both of Milroy, Michael Hostetler, Woodward, Ben Hostetler, Aaronsburg, Nancy Hostetler, Joseph Hostetler, Samuel Hostetler and Jonathon Hostetler, all of Reedsville; and two half sisters, Elizabeth Yoder, Reedsville and Sarah Byler, New Wilmington. He was a farmer. Services will be held at 9 a.m. Tuesday at his home at 1162 Coffee Run Road, Reedsville. Interment will be in Greenlea Cemetery, Reedsville. Friends may call 5-7 p.m. today at his home. The W. Robert Neff Funeral Home, 837 Main St., Howard, is in charge of arrangements.

Irene R. Houck
LEWISTOWN - Irene R. Houck, 83, of Lewistown, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2001, in Sarasota, Fla. Born May 18, 1917, in Natrona Heights (near Pittsburgh), she was the daughter of the late Harry and Bella (Levinson) Rabinowitz. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold W. Houck, a former Mifflin County attorney, who died Feb. 14, 1973. She is survived by a daughter, Rose Ann Woldorf of Harrisburg, and one grandson. She attended the University of Pittsburgh and graduated from the Pennsylvania State University, State College in 1939. She was a charter member of many Lewistown and Mifflin County service organizations, including the American Association of University Women, the Family Counseling Board, the Mifflin County Arts Council and Arts Festival Committee, the Juniata Foundation for the Blind, the Carl Shoemaker Blind Auxiliary, the Mifflin County Garden Club, the Mifflin-Juniata United Way, the Lewistown Hospital Auxiliary, and the Mifflin County Retired Teachers Association. She was also a trustee and charter member and past president of the Ohev Sholom Synagogue Auxiliary-Hadassah Organization. In 1993, the AAUW recognized her achievements by naming her Woman of the Year and in 1995 the Mifflin County Round Table of Christians and Jews selected her as their recipient of the Brotherhood Award for her outstanding benevolence, service and concern for the community. Funeral services were held Friday in the Bookstaber Chapel of Mount Moriah Cemetery, Lower Paxton Township. A memorial service will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday in Ohev Sholom Synagogue, 20 E. Third St., Lewistown. Family will receive friends at Mrs. Houck's home, 24 N. Main St., Lewistown on Sunday after the memorial service or at Mrs. Woldorf's home in Harrisburg on Monday and Tuesday evenings. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Robert Douglas Woldorf Fund at the Greater Harrisburg Foundation, 200 N. Third St. Harrisburg, PA 17108 or to the charity of one's choice. Parthemore Funeral Home & Cremation Services, New Cumberland, is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Evelyn Jamison Houdeshel
LITITZ - Mary Evelyn Jamison Houdeshel, 76, of Luther Acres, Lititz, died Monday, May 21, 2001, at the Lancaster General Hospital. Born on Nov. 28, 1924, in McAlisterville, Juniata County, she was the daughter of the late Thaddeus and Alma Florence (Kinzer) Jamison. Her husband, the Rev. John H. Houdeshel, whom she married July 12, 1947, survives. Also surviving are: four children, Mrs. David (Ruth H.) Rugh, Seattle, Wash., Mrs. Carl (Kathryn J.) Barr, Stewartstown, Steven J. Houdeshel, Downingtown, and Mrs. Gunnar (Betty G.) Armstrong, Lititz; and nine grandchildren. She graduated from the Fayette Township High School and Maryville College, Tennessee. She taught elementary grades in Raritan, NJ and McAlisterville, prior to her marriage. She then served with her husband in Presbyterian (USA) Churches in Maryland, Illinois and Pennsylvania. She was active in the life of these churches, serving as a teacher in the Sunday school, an officer in the women's groups, and pianist and organist. She also taught piano lessons in her home. At the time of her death, she was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Lancaster. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the First Presbyterian Church, 140 E. Orange Street, Lancaster, with the Rev. Randolph Riggs, the Rev. William Netting and the Rev. Wes Anderson officiating. Interment will be in the Lost Creek Presbyterian Cemetery, McAlisterville, at the convenience of the family. Friends may greet family members and share a meal with them following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to: the Capital Campaign of the Stewartstown Presbyterian Church, 16 College Avenue, PO Box 277, Stewartstown, PA 17363. The Cremation Society of Pennsylvania, 4100 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg, is in charge of arrangements.

William Junior 'June' Houseworth
RICHFIELD - William Junior "June" Houseworth, 47, of Richfield RR2, died at 9:25 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2001, at his home, of a fatal heart attack. Born June 10, 1953, in Richfield RR2, Monroe Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late William Ellsworth and Helen Irene (Seiler) Barner-Houseworth. His wife, Teresa Ann (Maneval) Houseworth, whom he married June 17, 1989, survives. Also surviving are: children, Chad Allen Houseworth and Nicole Ann Houseworth, both at home; brother and sister, Lester Lee Houseworth, Richfield RR2 and Mrs. Lyle (Catherine Marie) Spade, Millerstown RR2; half-brother, Paul Barner, New Jersey; and many nieces and nephews. He was educated at the East Juniata High School, Cocolamus. He was disabled due to his heart condition. He attended the Aline United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant Mills RR1. He enjoyed video games with his children, horseshoes, hunting and fishing. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Aline United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant Mills RR1, with Pastor James E. Lewis officiating and the Rev. Franklin Trego assisting. Interment will be in the adjoining church Cemetery. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of service Saturday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Aline United Methodist Church, c/o Judith Skinner-treasurer, RR2, Box 289, Mount Pleasant Mills, PA 17853, where the funds will develop into a trust fund for William's children. The George P. Garman Funeral Home Inc., Mount Pleasant Mills, is in charge of arrangements.
