Jay I. Roth
VIENNA, VA - Jay I. Roth, 59, of 8608 Acorn Circle, Vienna, VA, formerly of Belleville, died on Wednesday, June 6, 2001, at INOVA Mt. Vernon Hospital, Alexandria, VA. Born in Belleville on Dec. 19, 1941, he was the son of the late Irvin L. and Lena (Zook) Roth. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Peachey) Roth, whom he married on Aug. 13, 1966. Also surviving are: a daughter, Michelle Roth-Cline, Madison, WI; a brother and sisters, Leonard Roth, Pheonix, AZ and Sarah Ditweiler and Marjorie Yoder both of Fairview, MI. He was a graduate of Belleville Mennonite School. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics from Eastern Mennonite University in Harrisonburg, VA. He was employed at Unisys Corporation for 18 years. He was a member of the Oakton Church of the Brethren in Vienna, VA. He sang with the Fairfax Choral Society for many years and avidly pursued interests in music, computers, and motorcycles. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Allensville Mennonite Cemetery, with minister Timothy Peachey officiating. The Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville, is in charge of local arrangements. Memorial contributions may be made to the Eastern Mennonite University Music Department or the Oakton Church of the Brethren Disability Access Fund.

Helen D. Rothermel
LEWISTOWN - Helen D. Rothermel, 88, of 27 Grand Parkway North, Lewistown, died at 9:15 p.m. Sunday, April 22, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born June 12, 1912, in Snyder County, she was a daughter of the late Charles and Lizzie (Yetter) Stimely. Her husband, Stanley H. Rothermel, died July 2, 1970. Surviving are a son and a daughter, Donald L. Rothermel and Helen Goddard, both of Lewistown; and two grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers, four sisters, and a half brother. She was a member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown and the Order of the Eastern Star. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery. There will be no viewing however, the family will receive friends following the service at a fellowship luncheon in the church social room. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Renovation Fund, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044. Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Samuel B. Rothrock Jr.
RICHFIELD - Samuel Barry "Jake" Rothrock Jr., 52, of Richfield RR1, died at 7 a.m. Monday, March 5, 2001, at Hershey Medical Center. Born May 7, 1948, in Richfield, Monroe Township, he was a son of the late Samuel L. Rothrock Sr., who died Dec. 10, 1998 and the late Freda Kathryn (Moad) Rothrock, who died May 29, 1996. Surviving are: a brother, Larry J. Rothrock, McAlisterville RR1; a sister, Mrs. Gilbert (Patricia L.) Close, Shermansdale; and six nieces and nephews. He was 1966 graduate of East Juniata High School, Cocolamus. He was employed for 24 years as an attendant for the Selinsgrove Center, until he retired on disability in 1999. He was Protestant by faith and a member of the Stony Run Mission Church, McAlisterville RR1. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed flowers and yardwork. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Stony Run Mission Church, McAlisterville RR1, with the Rev. Raymond D. Neitz officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the church. The George P. Garman Funeral Home Inc., Mount Pleasant Mills, is in charge of arrangements.

Frank J. Ross
ELMA, NY - Frank J. Ross, 77, of Elma, NY, formerly of Lewistown, died Sunday, April 15, 2001, at the South Buffalo Mercy Hospital, Buffalo, NY. Born Oct. 28, 1923, in Coraopolis, he was the son of the late Frank and Angeline T. (Condeloro) Ross. His wife, Dorothy (Gress) Ross, survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Christy Anne) Reling, East Aurora, NY; brothers and sisters, Marie Meloni and Fred Ross, both of Reedsville, Lucy A. Ross and Rocco A. Ross, both of Lewistown; three grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was a 1941 graduate of Lewistown High School, where he played basketball. He also graduated from Kent State University with a degree in accounting. He was a veteran of World War II, having served as a paratrooper in the 11th Airborne Division. He was employed by Kinney's Shoe Corporation for 39 years, retiring as a regional auditing manager on March 1, 1990. He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Elma, NY and a member of the Elks Lodge 663, Lewistown for many years. He enjoyed watching baseball games and was an avid golfer. Private services were held at the convenience of the family in New York. Memorial contributions may be made to: St. John's Lutheran Church Memorial Fund, 2131 Woodard Road, Elma, NY 14059. The Paul A. Kloc Blossom Chapels Inc., Elma, NY, was in charge of the arrangements.

Gerald M. 'Joe' Rowles
MIFFLINTOWN - Gerald M. "Joe" Rowles, 74, of Mifflintown RR5 Box 25-R, died at 2:08 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 18, 2001 at his residence. Born Dec. 23, 1926 in Shippensburg, he was a son of the late Violet (Rosenberry) Rowles. His wife, Dorothy (Book) Rowles, whom he married June 23, 1956, survives. Also surviving are: children, Gerald M. Rowles, Kathy M. Rowles, Candy J. Rowles Etter and Steven W. Rowles, all of Mifflintown, Penny J. Rowles, Carlisle and Sandy L. Rowles and Mrs. Richard (Danielle) Harvey, both of Honey Grove; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Lester (Janet) Wingert and Mrs. William (Judy) Henderson, both of Shippensburg, Mrs. Donald (Bonnie) Miller, Concord and James Rosenberry of California; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandson. He was preceded in death by seven brothers and three sisters. He was a truck driver for Roadway Express in Camp Hill for 22 years, before retiring in 1975 due to disability. He was a Protestant by faith. He was a member of the Mifflintown American Legion Post No. 298, and a member of the Fraternal Order of the Eagles Aerie No. 1299, Carlisle. Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Sun Home Health Hospice, 2 Hudson Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044. Paul A. Royer
LEWISTOWN - Paul A. Royer, 54, of 111 N. Grand St., Lewistown, died at 3:14 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born May 15, 1947, he was the son of Sara (Brannan) Royer of Goss Terrace, Lewistown and the late Robert P. Royer. His wife, Betty Lou (Parker) Royer, whom he married Sept. 19, 1981, survives. Also surviving are brother and sisters, James Brannan of Mechanicsburg, Mary Gahagan and Mary Lee Rieffannacht, both of Lewistown. He was preceded in death by one brother, Robert L. Ritter. He was a 1966 graduate of Lewistown High School. Early in life, he worked for Royale Dairy and then for Schneider Valley Farms, State College for the past 18 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church and the Teamsters Local 764. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at Hoenstine Funeral Home, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, where a Scripture service will be held at 8:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to: Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Helen S. Rozsas
POTTSTOWN - Helen S. (Zagorski) Rozsas, 93, of North Hanover Street, Pottstown, died Sunday, March 18, 2001, at Pottstown Memorial Medical Center. Born in Conchehocken, she was the daughter of the late Vincent and Stella Zagorski. She was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen S. Rozsas. Surviving are: children, Mrs. John S. (Pauline R.) Blackwell, Lower Pottsgrove Township, Mrs. David A. (Pamela A.) Varley, Lewistown, and Stephen S. Rozsas, Winter Haven, Fla.; two stepsisters, Mrs. Rev. Paul (Josephine) Faithful, Douglassville and Frances Swoyer of Pennsburg; seven grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. She worked for 25 years at the former Shuler Hotel, Pottstown. She was a member of St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Pottstown, where she was active with the senior citizen's group and worked in the kitchen for the Monday night bingo. She was one of the original and founding members of the Pottstown Area Senior Center, where she was active for many years. A prayer service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Catagnus Funeral Home, 711 N. Franklin St., Pottstown, with a funeral Mass at 11 a.m. at St. Aloysius R.C. Church, Hanover & Beech Streets, Pottstown. Interment will be in St. Aloysius New Cemetery, Lower Pottsgrove Township. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Willam W. 'Muddy' Ruhl
CAMP HILL - William W. "Muddy" Ruhl, 9l, of Camp Hill, died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, in Hershey Medical Center, Hershey. Born Oct. 25, 1909, in Bellefonte, he was the son of the late Harry and Lillian (Steinmiller) Ruhl. His wife, Edna M. Ruhl, preceded him in death. He is survived by a daughter, Carol A. Bufala, Conshohocken; two sisters, Lillian Houtz, Lewistown and Sara Williams, Fleetwood; and one grandson. He was retired from the former Pomeroys Department Stores in Camp Hill and Harrisburg. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Camp Hill and was a member of the Lewistown Moose. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Myers-Harner Funeral Home, Camp Hill, with the Rev. J. Stewart Hardy officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens. Friends may call 9 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Lung Association, 6041 Linglestown Road, Harrisburg, PA 17112.
