Miriam R. Esterline
LEWISTOWN - Miriam R. Esterline, 81, of the Coleman House, Market Street, Lewistown, formerly of Yeagertown, died at 4:15 p.m. Sunday, March 28, 1999, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn.

Born Nov. 8, 1917, in Aaronsburg, she was the daughter of the late John and Mary (Hosterman) Zerby. Her husband, Rolland Esterline, died in 1976.

Surviving are: children, Gary L. Esterline, Ort Valley, Lewistown and Mrs. Scott (Sharon) Snyder, Carmichaels; brothers and sisters, Henry Zerby, Centre Hall, Irene Davis, Clearfield, Mrs. Adam (Frances) Condo, Bellefonte, and Eugene Zerby, Spring Mills; and two grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Yeagertown, the Midnight Riders Motorcycle Club in Lewistown, the Women of the E.L.C.A., and was active in church choir.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Main Street, Yeagertown, with the Rev. Philip C. Tundel officiating. Private interment will be held in the Yeagertown Lutheran Cemetery.

There will be no public viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Holy Communion Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Main Street, Yeagertown, PA 17099.

Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Henry Francis 'Hank' Ettinger
BEAVERTOWN - Henry Francis "Hank" Ettinger, 65, of Beavertown RR1, died at 6:45 p.m. Friday, March 31, 2000, at the Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.

Born Sept. 18, 1934, in Adams Township, Snyder County, he was a son of the late Elmer and Esther (Smith) Ettinger. His wife, Winafred (Swartzlander) Ettinger, whom he married Sept. 7, 1967, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Henrietta M. Straub, Mount Pleasant Mills, Denise R. Rager, Pine Grove, and Michael A. Ettinger, Beavertown RR1; 13 brothers and sisters, Mary Cobb and Ruth Ettinger, both of Florida, Margaret Carter, Evelyn Shiffer, and Mabel Knouse, all of Pennsylvania, Rose Sargent, Maude Mae Howell, Evelyn Osborne, Diane Moyer, Elmer Ettinger, Roger Ettinger, Henry Ettinger and Ronald Ettinger, all of New York; and eight grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by stepmother, Erma Ettinger; stepfather, Murray Smith; sisters and brothers, Ellen Radel, Olive Ettinger, Carl Keister, Russell Keister, Raymond Ettinger, Clayton Keister, and Fred Keister.

In 1985, he retired from the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation after 23 years of service as a highway construction inspector.

He enjoyed hunting, music and the mountains.

Services will be held at 1:30 pm. Tuesday at the Beavertown chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes Inc., 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, with the Rev. Seidel Shiffer officiating. Interment will be in the Troxelville Union Cemetery. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. today at the funeral home, where family will receive friends 7-9 p.m.

Frank T. Evanitsky
MIFFLINTOWN - Frank T. Evanitsky, 80, of Brookline Manor Nursing Home, Mifflintown, and formerly of North Beech Street, Burnham, died at 11:20 a.m. Monday, Feb. 14, 2000, at the home.

Born March 1, 1919, in Kingston, he was a son of the late Phillip and Sophie (Luzecki) Evanitsky. His wife, Mary Evanitsky, died April 28, 1999.

Surviving are: children, Francis J. Evanitsky, Lewistown and Mrs. Gary L. (Theresa A.) Cutler, Beavertown; a sister, Justyna Supulski, Kingston; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren.

He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.

He worked in maintenance at Dank's Department Store and Sacred Heart School.

He was a member of Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Lewistown.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m Thursday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, Lewistown, with the Rev. Thomas Marickovic officiating. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lewistown.

Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday with a rosary at 8:45 p.m. at Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Sacred Heart School, 110 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Mary T. Evanitsky
BURNHAM - Mary T. Evanitsky, 78, of 809 N. Beech St., Burnham, died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, 1999, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn.

Born June 12, 1920, in Yeagertown, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Wozniak) Olnick. Her husband, Frank T. Evanitsky, whom she married in 1940, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Francis J. Evanitsky, Lewistown and Mrs. Gary L. (Theresa A.) Cutler, Beavertown; brother and sister, Steve Olnick, Reedsville and Lillian Clark, North Carolina; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two step-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by four brothers and one sister.

She was employed at Cluett & Peabody Shirt Factory in the cutting department for 15 years.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church.

Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, at the Sacred Heart Church, Lewistown, with Father Thomas Marickovic offficiating and Deacon John Rocco assisting. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Lewistown.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, where a Rosary reading will be held at 9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Diabetes Association, 5020 Ritter Road, Suite 103, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055.

Miriam N. Evans
MIFFLIN - Miriam N. Evans, 75, of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, HC-67, Mifflin and formerly of Denholm, died at 11:15 p.m., Saturday, Feb. 26, 2000, at the village.

Born Dec. 2, 1924, in Milford Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late William E. and L. Fern (Fisher) Whitesel. Her husband, Earl W. Evans, died Oct. 25, l994.

She is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Wayne (Connie L.) Marquart, Lewisberry.

She was preceded in death by: a daughter, Earlene K. Clouser on April 8, 1986.

She was the last of her immediate family having been preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth W. Whitesel.

She was a homemaker and had worked at the American Viscose Corp., Lewistown.

She was a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin, with the Rev. George S. Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in the Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown RR4.

Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the church.

The family will provide all funeral flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to: the Trinity United Methodist Church, PO Box F, Mifflin, PA 17058 or to Friends of Locust Grove, HC-67, Box 7, Mifflin, PA 17058.

The Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, is in charge of the arrangements.

Marshall E. Eward
LAFAYETTE HILL - Marshall E. Eward, 76, of Lafayette Hill, formerly of Milroy, died Wednesday, May 19, 1999, at The Integrated Health Service in Springfield Township.

Born Oct. 31, 1922, in Yeagertown, he was a son of the late Alton and Hilda (Wilson) Eward. His wife of 56 years, Elda (Johnson) Eward, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Col. Marshall Eward, Harrisburg, and Barbara Jablokov, Lafayette Hill; sisters, Maude Kerney, Berlin, N.J., and Grace Eward, York; and three grandchildren.

He was a graduate of Yeagertown High School and Penn State University, where he earned a master's degree in mathematics, chemistry, and physics.

He served as a Technician 5th Grade from 1943-1946 in the United States Army during World War II.

He was a high school physics teacher for Kishacoquillas High School, Mifflin County School District, for more than 40 years before his retirement.

He was a member of Milroy Presbyterian Church, where he was a church elder. He was also a member of Milroy Volunteer Fire Co. and was an Emergency Medical Technician with Milroy Ambulance Association.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Saint Philip Neri Roman Catholic Church, 437 Ridge Pike, Lafayette Hill, with Father Edward Kelly officiating. Interment will be in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery, Annville.

Friends may call from 9-10 a.m. Friday at Lownes Funeral Home, 659 Germantown Pike, Lafayette Hill.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Milroy Volunteer Fire Co., Milroy, PA 17063.

Ada M. Ewing
SELINSGROVE - Ada M. Ewing, 95, a resident of Penn Lutheran Village, Selinsgrove, formerly of McClure RR2, died at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 29, 1999, at the village.

Born Dec. 24, 1903, in McClure, she was the daughter of the late John C. and Margaret R. (Hoffman) Pheasant. Her husband, Charles F. Ewing of Penn Lutheran Village, whom she married Aug. 12, 1922, survives.

Also surviving are: daughters, Evelyn R. Smeltzer and Gayle E. Conner, both of Lewistown, and Margaret R. Moser of McClure RR2; sons, C. Richard Ewing, Bethlehem, Dalton E. Ewing and Jerry L. Ewing, both of McClure RR2; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Betty M. Ewing; a sister, Mary E. Pheasant; two brothers, O. Warren Pheasant and Harry Z. Pheasant; half-sister, S. Elizabeth Heeter; half-brothers, Orrie Crawford and William Pheasant; step-brother, Dr. William Crawford; and a step-sister, Minnie Crawford.

She was a member of St. John's Ridge Lutheran Church, McClure RR2, where she was a Sunday school teacher and active in other church activities earlier in life.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the McClure chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, North Brown Street, McClure. Interment will be in the Black Oak Ridge Cemetery, McClure RR2.

There will be no evening viewing, but friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service in the chapel.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Charles F. Ewing
MCCLURE - Charles F. Ewing, 101, of Penn Lutheran Village, Selinsgrove, died at 8:20 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 1999, at the village, where he had been a residence since 1994.

Born Sept. 7, 1898, in West Beaver Township, Snyder County, he was a son of the late Frank A. and Annie M. (Snook) Ewing. His wife, Ada M. (Pheasant) Ewing, whom he married Aug. 12, 1922, died July 29, 1999.

Surviving are: children, Evelyn R. Smeltzer and Gayle E. Conner, both of Lewistown, C. Richard Ewing, Bethlehem, and Margaret R. Moser, Dalton E. Ewing and Jerry L. Ewing, all of McClure RR2; a sister, Carrie M. Dippery, Beaver Springs RR1; 13 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Betty M. Ewing; a sister, Mary E. Kline; and three brothers, John E. Ewing, Erie R. Ewing and Spencer E. Ewing.

He was a member of St. John's Ridge Lutheran Church, McClure RR2, where he had served on the church council for many years.

He retired from Overhead Door Co., Lewistown, in 1966 after many years as a carpenter. Earlier in life, he farmed and owned and operated Ewing's Hatchery in West Beaver Township.

He was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Union Local No. 1936. He served on the original Veterans Memorial Swimming Pool Board.

He enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing and woodworking.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday at the McClure chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, North Brown Street, McClure, with the Rev. Kathleen Kinney officiating. Interment will be in Black Oak Ridge Cemetery, McClure RR2.

Family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
