Sally Lou Gussler
YEAGERTOWN - Sally Lou Gussler, 56, of 100 Mann Ave., Yeagertown, died at 1:25 p.m. Monday, July 12, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital.

Born July 30, 1942, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Sara (Gross) and William A. Gussler Jr.

She is survived by two sisters, Barbara A. Barker and Bonnie K. Gussler, both of Yeagertown.

She was preceded in death by a brother, William Gussler III.

She was Methodist by faith.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family and private interment will be held at Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Muscular Dystrophy Foundation , 810 Seventh Ave., New York, NY 10019.

Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy Frances Gwyn
MIFFLINBURG - Dorothy Frances Gwyn, 76, of 426 Old Orchard Lane, Mifflinburg, formerly of Lewistown and Massachusetts, died at 11:45 p.m. Tuesday, March 2, 1999, in Riverwoods, Lewisburg.

Born Dec. 8, 1922, in Plymouth, Luzerne County, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth Bernick. Her husband, Gene Edward Gwyn, whom she married in Plymouth on June 15, 1950, died on Jan. 10, 1999.

Surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Lamar D. (Libby R.) Loss Jr. and Mrs. Roy S. (Dorene G.) Straub, both of Mifflinburg; four grandchildren; and stepfather, Ben Mazur, Plymouth.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Bernick in 1995.

She was 1940 graduate of Plymouth High School.

She, along with her husband, operated Gywn's Pharmacy, East Chestnut Street, Mifflinburg for over 20 years, retiring in 1974.

She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, Lewisburg. She was also a member and past secretary of the Mifflinburg Athenaeum Club and a past member of the Mifflinburg Civic Club.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 814 Saint Louis St., Lewisburg, with the Rev. Patrick J. Shannon officiating. Interment will be in Hill Top Cemetery, Mifflinburg.

Friends may call from 10:15 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to: the Memorial Fund of Saint George's Catholic Church, Mifflinburg, c/o Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church, 814 Saint Louis St., Lewisburg, PA 17837.

The James L. Schwartz Home for Funerals, 247 Chestnut St., Mifflinburg, is in charge of arrangements.

Nester J. 'Eddie' Hackenberg
MIDDLEBURG - Nester J. " Eddie" Hackenberg, 71, of Middleburg RR1, died Thursday, March 9, 2000, at his home.

Born May 27, 1928, in Franklin Township, Snyder County, he was a son of the late Hoyt Henry and Mary Jane (Gill) Hackenberg. His wife, Jacqueline E. (Shambach) Hackenberg, whom he married March 12, 1949, survives.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Lynn (Cheryl L.) Ritter, Middleburg RR1; six sisters, Jean Shambach, Elva Mitchell, and twin sister, Esther Keister, all of Middleburg RR1, Betty Zechman, Penns Creek, Doris Walter, Middleburg, and Peggy Weikel, Mifflinburg RR1; two brothers, Verdon Hackenberg, Mount Pleasant Mills RR1, and Barry Hackenberg, Mifflinburg RR1; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Karen Ann Bridy, on Nov. 3, 1985; a sister, Martha Walter; and five brothers, Howard Hackenberg, Rudolph Hackenberg, Sheldon Hackenberg and infant twin boys.

He was a self-employed carpenter for more than 40 years and was serving his sixth term as Franklin Township Supervisor.

He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church, Middleburg RR1, where he served in numerous offices which included superintendent since 1968, trustee and Sunday school teacher. He was also on the Pastor-Parish Relations Committee.

He enjoyed woodworking.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Zion United Methodist Church, Middleburg RR1, with the Rev. James E. Rudy officiating. Interment will be in the church Cemetery.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Sunday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Zion United Methodist Church, 504 Winey Ave., Middleburg, PA 17842 or to the Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.

Danielle J. Hackenberger
PORT ROYAL - Danielle J. Hackenberger, 9, 110 E. Maple Lane, Port Royal, died Sunday, Aug. 15, 1999, at her home following an extended illness.

Born May 21, 1990, in Camp Hill, she was the daughter of D. Curtis Hackenberger, Mifflintown RR5 and Jacklyn (Stoner) Wilt, 110 E. Maple Lane Port Royal.

Also surviving are: brother and sister, Anthony C. "Andy" Hackenberger and Carrie B. Hackenberger, at home; paternal grandparents, Carl "Pete" and Elsie Hackenberger, Thompsontown; maternal grandparents, William and Mary Martha Stoner, Mifflintown RR5; stepfather, Paul C. Wilt, 110 E. Maple Lane, Port Royal; and a stepbrother, John M. Wilt, New Bloomfield.

She had completed third grade at Fermanagh-Mifflintown Elementary School, Mifflintown, attended Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mifflintown, and was a member of the Central Pennsylvania Youth Rodeo Association, the Rollin' Thunder 4-H Trail Club, and the Fine Fitters 4-H Sheep Club.

A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Wednesday at the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Mifflintown, with the Rev. William Mielke and Pastor Louise Reynolds officiating.

There will be no public viewing and the family will provide all flowers.

Memorial contributions may be made to: the Four Diamonds Fund, Office of University Drive, PO Box 852, Hershey, PA 17063.

Maude E. Hackenberger
MIFFLINTOWN - Maude E. Hackenberger, 84, a resident of the Brookline Manor Convalescent Rest Home, Mifflintown RR1, formerly of Thompsontown, died at 3:10 a.m. Thursday, June 17, 1999, at the rest home.

Born Dec. 9, 1914, in Salem, she was the daughter of the late William H. and Emma (Lauver) Kauffman. Her husband, John D. Hackenberger, whom she married Dec. 29, 1936, died Nov. 16, 1994.

Surviving are: daughters, Alice June Jones, Thompsontown, Trudy H. Watts, McAlisterville, Cathy Smith, Liverpool, and Sally Jo Gantt, Millerstown; nine grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; ad two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, John D. Hackenberger Jr.; a brother, Melvin "Bud" Kauffman; four half-brothers; and four half-sisters.

She attended Thompsontown High School.

She was employed as a seamstress by L. Shellenberger and Sons, East Salem, retiring in 1979.

She was a member of the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Thompsontown.

Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Thompsontown, with the Rev. Kerry Aucker officiating. Interment will follow in the church Cemetery.

Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the church.

Catherine G. Hackenberry
LEWISTOWN - Catherine G. Hackenberry, 79, of 343 W. Fifth St., Lewistown, died at 10:18 p.m. Tuesday April 6, 1999, at the Lewistown Hospital.

Born March 10, 1920, in Mifflin, she was the daughter of the late Lynn J. and Margaret S. (Yohn) McClure. Her husband, Robert N. Hackenberry, died in 1970.

Surviving are: children, Karen S. Hackenberry, Akron, Ohio and Mrs. James (Barbara J.) Kamerer, Butler; a brother, Lynn J. McClure Jr., Gardenview, Reedsville; and three granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by a son, Robert N. Hackenberry Jr. and one brother.

She was a teller at the Lewistown Trust Co. for 20 years, retiring in 1990.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery.

There will be no public viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Iva Stetler Hackenberry
MECHANICSBURG - Iva Stetler Hackenberry, 80, of Messiah Village, Mechanicsburg, formerly of Lewistown, died Tuesday, March 21, 2000, at the village.

Born May 30, 1919, in Beaver Springs, she was a daughter of the late Artie and Annie (Kuhns) Kratzer. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Kenneth O. Stetler. She is survived by her second husband, C. Russell Hackenberry of Messiah Village.

Also surviving are: two daughters, Shirley Campbell, Camp Hill, and Kathy Stetler, Scotch Plains, N.J.; two brothers, Hurley Kratzer, Lewisburg, and Paul Kratzer, New Jersey; a sister, Mary Try, McClure; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

She was a retired state employee who worked in the Department of Motor Vehicles.

She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Lewistown.

Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Messiah Village Chapel, Mechanicsburg, with the Rev. Ronald Burgard officiating. Interment will be in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens, Harrisburg.

Friends may call from 9:30 until the time of services Saturday at the chapel.

George L. Hackett
CENTRE HALL - George L. Hackett, 89, of Centre Hall, died Wednesday, June 9, 1999, at Centre Crest in Bellefonte.

Born April 13, 1910, in Armagh Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late C. Brown and Blanche Irene (Shank) Hackett. His wife, Wilma "Jim" (Allen) Hackett, whom he married Dec. 1, 1930, died May 28, 1994.

Surviving are sisters, Flora Martz, Ruth Garman, and Grace Homan, all of Centre Hall, Sara Wagner, Sun City, Calif., and Faye Bloom, Hemet, Calif.

He was a farmer and later worked at HRB Singer in State College, then at Penn State University, retiring in 1975.

He was a member of Sprucetown United Methodist Church, a member of the Farm Bureau, where he served one term on the board of directors, and was a member of Centre Hall Fire Co. and Ambulance Club.

Earlier in life, he enjoyed watching local baseball teams.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Mark D. Heintzelman Funeral Service, 226 S. Pennsylvania Ave., Centre Hall, with the Rev. Norman Huff officiating. Interment will be in Sprucetown United Methodist Church Cemetery, Potter Township.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home.
