Virginia L. Fisher
LEWISTOWN - Virginia L. Fisher, 69, a resident of Ohesson Manor, Lewistown, formerly of 7 French Drive, Lewistown, died at 7:03 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 10, 2000, at Ohesson Manor. Born June 8, 1931, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Numa L. "Bud" and Edna T. (Lingle) Whiteman. Her husband Richard E. "Jack" Fisher preceded her in death on Sept. 28, 1987. Surviving are: children; Mrs. James (Richelle) Demskie, 1002 W. Fifth St., Lewistown, Jeffrey E. Fisher, 4275 Route 103 North, Lewistown and Dee Ann Fisher, 332 Cottage Place, Lewistown; a sister, Mrs. Jack (Betty) Gracey, Oceanside, Calif.; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a grandson. She worked as a clerk/typist for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the Department of Revenue and Bureau of Liquid Fuels Tax before retiring in 1988. She was a member of the Granville United Methodist Church and Lewistown Business and Professional Women's Club. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Mark S. Brower officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant View Cemetery, Mattawana. There will be no public viewing, however, family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Granville United Methodist Church, PO Box 310, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Robert L. 'Bob' Fleegal
LEWISTOWN - Robert L. "Bob" Fleegal, 71, of 45 Cedar Drive, Lewistown, died at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, July 15, 2000, at his residence. Born April 30, 1929, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Legora C. and Mary E. (Russell) Fleegal. His wife, Margaret (Logan) Fleegal, survives. Also surviving are: children, Michael R. Fleegal, Deborah Moist, Mrs. Stephen (Cynthia) Barger, and Brian L. Fleegal, all of Lewistown; eight grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. He was a United States Air Force veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was a construction worker employed by Pipefitters Local No. 520, Harrisburg for 50 years, retiring on disability in 1990. He was a member of Strodes Mills Baptist Church and the West Granville Fire Company. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Jonathan C. God officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Helen B. Fleisher
LEWISTOWN - Helen B. Fleisher, 88, formerly of North Grand Parkway, Lewistown, died at 1:40 p.m. Monday, July 10, 2000, in Irmo, SC. Born July 19, 1911, in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Martha G. (Duck) Barnes. Her husband, J. William Fleisher, died in 1995. She is survived by: daughters, Constance B. Fleisher, St. Paul, Minn. and Martha Lyn Spangler, Irmo, SC; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Martha E. Barnes and a grandson, Dirk Blose. She was a teacher for the Mifflin County School District for 30 years. She was a member of the Lewistown Presbyterian Church. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Lewistown Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Bruce Hinderliter officiating. Interment will be in Lind Memorial Cemetery. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Mifflin County Library, 125 N. Wayne St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the Lewistown Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Third St., Lewistown, PA 17044. Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown is in charge of arrangements.

Irma W. Fleming
LEWISTOWN - Irma W. Fleming, 88, formerly of Valley Street, Lewistown, died at 7:35 p.m. Wednesday, July 12, 2000, at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown. Born April 28, 1912, in Waterloo, she was the daughter of the late Harvey and Charlotte (Shearer) Fleming. She is survived by a brother, Max Fleming Sr., Reedsville. She was preceded in death by brothers and sister, J. Woodrow Fleming, Ralph Fleming, and Louise Dando. She obtained her teaching certificate from Shippensburg and received her bachelor of science and master's degrees in education from Penn State University. She was a grade school teacher in the Mifflin County School District for 40 years, retiring in 1972. She was a 50 year member of the Lewistown Presbyterian Church. She was also a member of P.A.S.R., and a volunteer at Ohesson Manor. She loved gardening, crocheting, and ceramics. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Robert Zorn officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Lewistown Presbyterian Church, 17 E. Third St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the Salvation Army, 9 S. Dorcas St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Robert M. Flory
LEWISTOWN - Robert M. Flory, 79, of 685 Peach Orchard Road, Lewistown, formerly of 39 Strasburg Pike, Lancaster, died Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born in April 1921, in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Eby H. and Ida (Miller) Flory. His first wife, Agnes (Roth) Flory, died in 1998. His second wife, Thelma J. (Graybill) Flory, survives. He is also survived by a brother, B. Rodney Flory Sr. of Lancaster. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Essa Flory. He was a 1939 graduate of McCaskey High School and also graduated from Marshall College, Huntingdon, WV and Hardware Mutuals Insurance School, Newark, NJ. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having served as a lieutenant and lead bombardier with the 87th Air Force Second Combat Division H53rd Bomb Group. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, an air medal with three clusters and theater of war ribbons. After the war, he worked as a truck manager at Wiggins Chevrolet, as general manager at Sausman Helms Chevrolet, High Spire and at Garden Spot Motors. A philanthropist who gave millions of dollars to many projects and causes in the Lancaster area, he made his fortune in Lancaster's Tourist Industry. He owned and operated the former Amish Homestead tourist attraction for 31 years, until it closed in 1992. He also built the 12-room Nomad Motel on Lincoln Highway East and, in subsequent years, added Brunswick Tours, Cream Top Dairy, the Amish Cinema complex and other properties to his holdings. He recently was nominated for the first Distinguished Philanthropist award by the Lancaster County Estate Planning Council and the Lancaster County Foundation. He donated 43 acres, valued at $1 million, for Flory Park in East Lampeter Township. The land was what remained of the former Amish Homestead that the Florys sold to Wal-Mart for more than $4 million. He and his late wife, Agnes, donated $1 million to Hospice of Lancaster County for a 12-bed center in memory of their late daughter, Essa, who had spina bifida. Their donation to the hospice unit subsequently contributed to the construction of Essa Flory Hospice Center, Pennsylvania's first freestanding hospice center. The Flory's donated $1 million to Lancaster General Hospital for expansion of its school of nursing and for the renal dialysis unit at its health campus. Another $1 million was donated in 1999 for The Women and Babies Hospital of Lancaster General. The Flory Pavilion at the new hospital was named in honor of his late wife. Contributions also have gone to church projects. In 1999, the Pennsylvania Dutch Convention and Visitor's Bureau presented its first annual Appreciation Award to Flory, one of the founding fathers of the county's tourism industry. He had served as director of the tourist bureau in the early 1960s. He was also chairman of the East Lampeter Township Board of Supervisors in the 1960s and 1970s; Republican committeeman for Lancaster Township from 1950-1956 and judge of elections in East Lampeter Township from 1957-1960. He was a member of Bible Baptist Church, Burnham, the Pennsylvania State Association of Township Supervisors and the United Commercial Travelers. A 32nd-degree Mason, he was a member of Harrisburg Consistory, Andrew H. Hershey Lodge 764, Zembo Temple in Harrisburg, and Lancaster County Shrine Club. He was a hunter and fisherman and belonged to Mill Creek Sportsmen Association. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Fred F. Groff Funeral Home, 234 W. Orange St., Lancaster, with the Rev. John S. Walters officiating. Interment will be in Conestoga Memorial Park. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Christian Academy Scholarship Fund, 101 Beech St., Burnham, PA 17009.

Charles B. Fogleman
MIFFLINTOWN - Charles B. Fogelman, 81, of Mifflintown RR1, died at 8:10 p.m. Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born March 1, 1919, in Walker Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Banks L. and Luella B. (Dysinger) Fogleman. His wife, Katherine L. (Kahley) Fogleman, whom he married Dec. 15, 1966, survives. Also surviving are: daughters, Mary L. Kauffman, Mifflintown RR2 and Barbara A. Robb, Fort Rucker, Ala.; and one grandson. He was preceded in death by brothers and sister, Lloyd E. Fogleman, Raymond H. Fogelman, and Mary C. Colyer. He attended Fayette elementary and high schools, McAlisterville. He was a lifelong farmer in Juniata County and worked many years in maintenance for Fayette Township. He was a member of the McAlisterville United Methodist Church. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with the Rev. Karl R. Herman officiating. Interment will be in the Lost Creek Mennonite Cemetery, Mifflintown RR2. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, where family will be present 7-9 p.m.

David M. Fogleman
NEW BLOOMFIELD - David M. Fogleman, 83, a resident of the Perry Village, New Bloomfield, formerly of Port Royal RR1 and Thompsontown, died at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, June 3, 2000, at the village. Born Dec. 18, 1916, in Walker Township, Juniata County, he was the son of the late Irvin A. and Lucy J. (Leach) Fogleman. He is survived by a sister, Helen J. Campbell, Ickesburg RR. He was preceded in death by a brother, Russell I. Fogleman and a sister, Maude M. Fogleman. He was U. S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from Empire Kosher Inc., Mifflintown. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Lower Tuscarora Presbyterian Cemetery, Academia, with the Rev. Harold Imes officiating. Full military honors will be provided by the Juniata County Veterans Council. There will be no viewing. The Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, is in charge of arrangements.

Helen M. Folk
LEWISBURG - Helen M. Folk, 76, of Old Turnpike Road, Lewisburg, died Thursday evening, Oct. 12, 2000, at her home. Born May 30, 1924, in Lewisburg, she was a daughter of the late John S. and Mary C. (Winklebleck) Zeigler. Her first husband, Charles Edward Morris, whom she married Sept. 19, 1943, preceded her in death in 1970. Her second husband, Alton Eugene Folk, whom she married Sept. 25, 1976, preceded her in death in 1990. Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Kenneth L. (Patricia Ann) Street, Cogan Station; two sons, Gene E. Morris, Selinsgrove, and Robert C. Morris, Lewisburg; two stepsons, Norman Folk and William Folk, both of Northumberland; three sisters, Anna Wehr, Mifflinburg, and Edith Feaster and Joyce Keefer, both of Lewisburg; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Barbara Ellen Morris, on March 9, 1947, and a sister, Ruth Zeigler, on Feb. 20, 1928. A graduate of Lewisburg Area High School in 1942, she worked at the JPM Company, Lewisburg for many years and retired as a line supervisor. She was an active member of the St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewisburg and a member of the Rambler's Club of Lewisburg, volunteered at RiverWoods with a group that sewed and mended articles of clothing for residents, enjoyed bowling and formerly was a member of a bowling league in Mifflinburg. A funeral service is at 11 a.m Tuesday at St. John's Lutheran Church (Twin Churches), Lewisburg, with the Rev. Peter S. Bergstresser officiating. Interment will be in the Lewisburg Cemetery. Friends will be received from 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the church. The Gary H. Cronrath Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis streets, Lewisburg, is in charge of the arrangements.
