H. Russell Garver
MCVEYTOWN - H. Russell Garver, 85, of McVeytown RR1, died at 2:55 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 6, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, Lewistown. Born Feb. 9, 1915, in Oliver Township, Mifflin County, he was the son of the late Henry and Naomi (Rhodes) Garver. His wife, Florence M. (Rowles) Garver, whom he married April 3, 1940, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Carl R. Garver, Palmyra; a foster daughter, Nancy Bishop, Hummelstown; a sister, Helen Bratton, McVeytown; and two grandchildren. He was a 1933 graduate of McVeytown-Oliver High School and a l934 graduate of Coyne Electrical School, Chicago, Ill. He was a life-long farmer and also worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad and at a sawmill owned by his brother-in-law, William Bratton, near Ryde. Later in life, he worked for Fisher Electronics in Milroy, Maclay and Son's Farm Machinery in Belleville, and as a groundskeeper for the Mifflin County School District, retiring in 1977. He was a member of the Atkinson Mills United Methodist Church, the Men's Bible Sunday School Class of the church, and the Country Crossroads Senior Center, Atkinson Mills. He enjoyed farming and gardening. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, with the Rev. Jeanette Rapp officiating. Interment will be in Mattawana Cemetery, McVeytown. Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Sara J. Geedy
BEAVER SPRINGS - Sara J. Geedy, 78, of Beaver Springs, died at 7:15 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, at Hershey Medical Center. Born Feb. 5, 1922, in West Beaver Township, Snyder County, she was a daughter of the late Vincent W. and Mary A. (Getz) Kuhn. Her husband, Clifford M. Geedy, whom she married Nov. 19, 1941, died Sept. 7, 1989. She is survived by two sisters, Eunice Masso, Berlin, N.J. and Grace Reigel, Beaver Springs; three brothers, Floyd Kuhn, Honeoye, N.Y.; Paul Kuhn, McClure and James Kuhn, West Berlin, N.J.; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by four sisters, Margaret Erb, Florine Kuhn, Esther Rickert and Janet Hassinger, and a brother, Perry V. Kuhn, and a brother missing in action, John Kuhn. She was a member of Newport Assembly of God, where she was a member of the Women's Missionary Society. She had been attending Bannerville Church of the Brethren and was a member of the Beaver Springs Senior Center. Services will be held 2 p.m. Sunday at the Newport Assembly of God Church, with the Rev. Gary L. Bellis and Pastor Liane Wagner officiating. Interment will be in the Union Cemetery, Duncannon. Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Saturday at the Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, where the family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. and from 1:00 p.m. until the time of the services Sunday at the church.

Libby S. Gehman
BERWYN - Libby S. Gehman, 52, of Berwyn, formerly of Milroy, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at her home. Born Feb. 12, 1948, in Lancaster, she was the daughter of the late R. Richard and Dorothy (Kahl) Gehman. She is survived by two sisters, Jane Esh of Milroy and JoAnn Hess of Berwyn; one brother, Thomas Gehman of Reedsville; one niece and six nephews. She was a 1966 graduate of Kishacoquillas High School and she also graduated from Penn State University with a bachelor's degree in recreation education. She was employed by Harrah's Entertainment having worked in Lake Tahoe, Atlantic City, Aukland-New Zealand, and New Orleans. All services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. The Alleva Funeral Home Inc., Paoli, is in charge of arrangements.

Ivan S. Gerhart
LEWISTOWN - Ivan S. Gerhart, 43, of 55 Redwood Drive, Lewistown, died of natural causes at 1:24 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born Feb. 17, 1957, in Ephrata, he was the son of Harvey and Verna (Sweigart) Gerhart of Manheim. His wife, Sandy (Long) Gerhart, whom he married in 1990, survives. Also surviving are: stepchildren, Dietmar Wilke, Columbia, Elaine Wilke, McVeytown, Mrs. Whorten (Sandra) Haines and Denise Wilke, both of Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Lester Gerhart, Luke Gerhart, and Mrs. Clyde (Brenda) Metzler, all of Manheim, Erma Miller, Lititz, and Mervin Gerhart, Marietta; and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Lamar Gerhart. He retired on disability from Almux Aluminum, Leola. He was a member of the West Granville Fire Company, Lewistown. Graveside services will be held at 3 p.m. Monday at the Juniata Memorial Park, with the Rev. Wayne Mast officiating. There will be no public viewing. A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 22 at Erb Mennonite Church, Doe Run Road, Manheim. Memorial contributions may be made to the family at 55 Redwood Drive, Lewistown, PA 17044. The Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Edward J. Gerlock
BRICK, NJ - Edward J. Gerlock, 72, of Brick, NJ, formerly of Mount Union, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Brick Hospital, Brick, NJ. Born July 17, 1928, in Mount Union, he was the son of the late John and Mary (Mishock) Gerlock. His wife, Sara (Linthurst) Gerlock, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Daniel Gerlock of Maybrook, NY; two daughters, Nancy Rodino of Scotch Plains, NJ and Jody Gerlock of Brick, NJ; a brother, A. Stephen Gerlock, Brick, NJ; three sisters, Ann Dwozan, Ormond Beach, Fla., Margaret Bell, Lewistown, and Betty Ellen GerIock, Mount Union; and five grandchildren. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of World War II. He received a bachelor's degree in 1952 from Shippensburg University, and a master's degree in 1959 from Penn State University. He was a guidance counselor at Point Pleasant Beach High School, New Jersey, for 25 years, retiring in 1985. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Martha's Roman Catholic Church, Herbertsville Road, Point Pleasant, NJ. Interment was private. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Disabled American Veterans, PO Box 14301, Cinncinnati, OH 45250-0301or to the Food for the Poor, 550 SW 12th Ave., Deerfield Beach, FL 33442-3188. Colonial Funeral Home, Brick, NJ, was in charge of arrangements.

Clair A. Gibbons
MIFFLIN - Clair A. Gibbons, 45, of HC 67 Mifflin (Walnut), died of natural causes at 11:55 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born June 20, 1955, in Honey Grove, he was the son of Robert Gibbons of Honey Grove and the late Betty (Rhoades) Gibbons. His wife, Wendy K. (Swailes) Gibbons, whom he married Feb. 14, 1998, survives. Also surviving are: sons, Shane R. Sunday and Donald E. Gibbons, both of Loysville; stepsons, Larry E. Wileman, at home and Kevin W. Wileman, Mifflin; brothers and sisters, Richard Gibbons, Ernest Gibbons, Brenda Hutchinson and Susan Garrett, all of Honey Grove, Larry Gibbons and Robin Gibbons, both of Reeds Gap, Shirley Clouser, Cross Keys and Mary Gibbons, Port Royal; one grandson and one step-grandson. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lester Gibbons and Donald Gibbons and a niece, Makyla Dalton. He was employed as a pipeliner. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Guss Funeral Home, 20 South Third St., Mifflintown. Interment will be in East Waterford Cemetery. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Clair Gibbons Fund, c/o Barbara Partner, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, PA 17059.

Gene W. Gilbert
LEWISTOWN - Gene W. Gilbert, 63, of 608 Maple Ave., Lewistown, died at 2:28 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born May 23, 1937, in Yeagertown, he was a son of the late Stella M. (Rose) and Harvey W. Gilbert Sr. His wife, Gloria (Alexander) Gilbert, died July 27, 1999. Surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Cheryl) Woodcock, Thompsontown, and Mrs. Robert (Sandy) Cross, Burnham; brothers, Harvey W. Gilbert Jr. and Gerald Gilbert, both of Lewistown, Robert Gilbert, Carlisle, and Richard Gilbert, York; and four grandchildren. He served with the 104th Armored Calvary of the Pennsylvania National Guards. He was an inspector at Standard Steel from 1972 until retirement. He attended Bible Baptist Church, Burnham. He was a member of United Steelworkers Local 1940 and the Textile Worker's Union Local 6. He was also a life member of the Yeagertown, East Derry, Burnham and Highland Park fire companies; served as chief of Highland Park Fire Company from 1967-1983; was EMT co-ordinator; a member of the Keystone Chapter of Fire Chiefs; a member of the Keystone Fire Chiefs Association; and a member of the International Society of Fire Instructors. He served as Derry Township supervisor for four terms; served on the Republican committee; and was the Oliver Township Emergency Management co-ordinator. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. John Walters officiating. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home.

Katherine C. Gilbertson
LEWISTOWN - Katherine C. Gilbertson, 92, of 27 Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown, died at 6:10 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, at the Malta Home, Granville. Born Feb. 10, 1908, in Marsteller, she was a daughter of the late Thomas and Mary (Gannon) Dailey. Her husband, David Gilbertson, died June 12, 1992. Surviving are: a sister, Nellie S. Stroup, Delaware Avenue, Lewistown; a brother, William Dailey, Granville; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Pauline M. Hendrickson, on July 27, 2000; four brothers and two sisters. She was a homemaker and, early in life, she was employed as a machine operator at the American Viscose Corporation. She was a member of the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown. There will be no public viewing. Family will provide all funeral flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart of Jesus Roman Catholic Church, 106 N. Dorcas St., Lewistown, PA 17044. Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
