Doris J. Gill
HERSHEY - Doris J. Gill, 64, of IHS Woodlands Nursing Center, Hershey, formerly of Elizabethtown and Atkinson Mills, died at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at the nursing center. Born Feb. 8, 1936, in McVeytown, she was the daughter of Charles E. Irvin, Thompsontown and the late Martha (Buchanan) Irvin. Her husband, Richard M. Gill, died March 14, 1975. Surviving are: children, Richard L. Gill and Mrs. John (Kimbra Jo) Rios, both of Elizabethtown, Terry D. Gill, Halifax, Mrs. Michael (Pamela) Umipig, Hummelstown, Gary E. Gill, Lebanon, and Brian K. Gill, Hanover; brothers and sisters, Mary Irvin and Dennis Irvin, both of Thompsontown, Ronald Irvin, Elizabethtown, Larry Irvin, Millersburg, Robert Irvin, Wrightsville, Donald Irvin, Mifflintown, Mrs. Roy (Sharon) Page, Arch Rock, Carl Irvin, Johnstown, and Rick Irvin, Rheems; and 10 grandchildren. She was a homemaker and had worked as a waitress at the Clearview Diner, Elizabethtown. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Bethel AME Church, 23 Juniata St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Bernard Carpenter officiating. Interment will be in Atkinson Mills United Methodist Cemetery, McVeytown RR. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the American Diabetes Association, 2040 Linglestown Road, Suite 106, Harrisburg, PA 17110.

Evelyn Y. Gilson
PORT ROYAL - Evelyn Y. Gilson, 89, of 215 Main St., Port Royal, died at 6:40 p.m. Sunday, July 30, 2000, at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin HC67. Born April 22, 1911 in Spruce Hill Township, Juniata County, she was a daughter of the late Noah Hertlzer and Mary Ellen (Souders) Yoder. Her husband Noah H. Gilson, whom she married Oct. 12, 1940, survives, residing at 215 Main St., Port Royal. Also surviving are: daughters; Mrs. William (Suellen) Renz, Perkasie and Judy E. Gilson, Hershey, brothers and sisters; Charles Hugh Yoder, Brookline Manor, Mifflintown RR 1, Gerald Earle Yoder and Dean Souders Yoder, both of Port Royal RR1, and Gladys Y. Snyder, Harrisburg, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She was a 1928 graduate of Port Royal High School, and a 1930 and 1939 graduate of Shippensburg State Teacher's College, Shippensburg. She retired in 1973, having been a school teacher for 35 years. She taught at Lagrange School, Spruce Hill School, Matamoras School, and at a private kindergarten in Mifflintown. She also taught first grade at Tuscarora Valley Elementary School, Port Royal. She was an active member of the Port Royal Presbyterian Church, the Victory Class, and Missionary Society of the church. She was a member, for many years, of the Port Royal Literary Guild, the Juniata County Educators Association, Turbett Grange No. 781, the Shippensburg Alumni Association, and the Public School Employee's Retirement System. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, with the Rev. Richard E. Wright officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from noon, until the time of services, Thursday at the funeral home. There will be no evening viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to the Port Royal Presbyterian Church, PO Box 387, Port Royal, PA 17082-0387.

Glenn E. Glant
HARRISBURG - Glenn E. Glant, 66, of Lower Paxton Township, Harrisburg, died at 3:50 a.m. Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Harrisburg Hospital. Born Feb. 17, 1934, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late John E. Glant and Alma M. (Kustaborder) Glant Himes. His wife, Delores (Fultz) Glant, whom he married July 4, 1954, survives. He is also survived by a sister, Judith M. Cortez, Santa Rosa, Calif. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Douglas Glant, on Nov. 15, 1994, and a brother, the Rev. William E. Glant. He was a United States Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served as a sergeant and, prior to the Korean Conflict, he was a guard at Arlington National Cemetery. He received an associate degree in radio maintenance from Fort Benning, Ga., during service time and worked as an electrician for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers, Local 143, Harrisburg for 41 years, retiring in 1994. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Harrisburg, was past president of the Linglestown Volunteer Fire Co. and a former Little League coach at Koons Park, Linglestown. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. David W. Schmuck officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery, where military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2040 Linglestown Road, Suite 106, Harrisburg, PA 17110-9568 or to the Kidney Foundation of Central Pa., 208 Oak St., Harrisburg, PA 17109.

Leon B. Glass
LEWISTOWN - Leon B. Glass, 55, of South Grand Street, Lewistown, died at 12:02 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born June 16, 1945, in Philadelphia, he was the son of the late Collen and Sarah (Barnett) Glass. His wife, Frances (Williams) Glass, whom he married Jan. 11, 1997, survives. Also surviving are: children, Gina Glass and Rhonda Glass, both of Maryland; stepchildren, Rickey Nickens, Maryland, Pearl Nickens, Joan Nickens, and Garry Nickens, all of Virginia; brothers and sisters, Linda Glass, New York, Mattie Winstead, Maryland, Priscilla Henson, North Carolina, Calvin Glass, Philadelphia, and Harold Glass, Mount Union; and three grandchildren. He was a flag man in the construction industry. Services will be held in Roxboro, NC at the Plenty Funeral Home. Local information provided by the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown.

Richard D. Glenn
MIFFLINTOWN - Richard D. Glenn, 50, of Mifflintown RR5, died at 12:40 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2000, at Beverly Healthcare-William Penn Nursing Home, Lewistown. Born May 30, 1950, in Derry Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Edward B. "Ted" and Helen L. (Long) Glenn. He is survived by a sister, Mrs. Larry "Ty" (Virginia A.) Haubert, Mifflintown RR3; a brother, John I. Glenn, Port Royal RR1; and four nieces. He was a 1968 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown. He had been employed as a carpenter by Wagman Construction, York, and he had been a former co-owner of Riverside Oil Company Inc., Mifflintown. He was a member of the Crawford-Brubaker VFW Post 5863 and the American Legion Post 298, both of Mifflintown, and the Nittany Lion Club. He was a sports enthusiast and his hobbies included golfing and NASCAR racing. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge Street, Mifflintown, with Taylor E. Miller officiating. Burial will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to the Lewistown Hospital, 400 Highland Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.

James L. Glick
LEWISTOWN - James L. Glick, 52, of 609 Chris Ave., Lewistown, died at 4:27 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born Oct. 2, 1948, in Belleville, he was the son of N. Norman Glick of Belleville and the late Effie (Kauffman) Glick. His wife, Betty (Goss) Glick, whom he married April 29, 1972, survives. Also surviving are: stepmother, Sarah K. (Peachey) Glick of Belleville; a son, Tyler Black, 609 Chris Ave., Lewistown; and a brother, Robert E. Glick, Newton, Kan. He was preceded in death by a brother, Richard Glick in 1995. He was employed by American Hickory and prior to that at Wilson Gas and Oil. He was a member of the Maple Grove Mennonite Church, Belleville and was president of the Men's Merchant League. He served as substitute bowler for the Thursday night Church League and the Friday Night Mixed League. He was also a member of the United Steelworkers of America Local 1940. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Maple Grove Mennonite Church, 115 Maple Grove Road, Belleville, with the Rev. Ivan Yoder officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Family will receive friends 6-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown and from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Heart Association, 501 Howard Ave., Building D., Suite 101, Altoona, PA 16601 or to the Maple Grove Mennonite Church, 115 Maple Grove Road, Belleville, PA 17004.

Kay M. Glick
LEWISTOWN - Kay M. Glick, 60, of 929 Jacks Creek Road, Lewistown, died at 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born July 21, 1939, in Belleville, she was the daughter of the late Clyde C. and Grace A. (Oburn) Randolph. Her husband, Sherman L. Glick of 929 Jacks Creek Road, Lewistown, whom she married June 18, 1960, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Thomas (Susan) Shank and David C. Glick, both of Lewistown, Mrs. Jacob (Paula) Fisher, McClure, and Mrs. James (Christine) Orwig, Mifflintown; a sister, Mrs. George (Darlene) Sunderland, Belleville; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, Harry Randolph. She was a 1957 graduate of Huntingdon High School and and a 1960 graduate of the Lewistown Hospital School of Nursing. She was a homemaker and was the secretary of Kish Valley Dairy Sales. Earlier in life, she had worked as a registered nurse. She was a member of the Allensville Presbyterian Church and of the Mount Union Chapter Order of the Eastern Star. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Allensville Presbyterian Church, Allensville, with the Rev. Geoffrey Huish officiating. Interment will be in Mooresville Cemetery, Mooresville. Friends may call from 6:30 p.m.-9 p.m. Sunday at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville and from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, PO Box 551, Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the Allensville Presbyterian Church, PO Box 130, Allensville, PA 17002.

J. Ray Goodling
MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS - J. Ray Goodling, 65, of Mount Pleasant Mills RR2, died at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at his home. Born Aug. 23, 1935, in Juniata County, he was the son of the late Daniel W. and Abbie (Strawser) Goodling. His wife, Minnie M. (Fultz) Goodling, whom he married Sept. 27, 1957, survives. Also surviving are: daughters, Mrs. George P. (Barbara K.) Sheaffer, Richfield RR2, Mrs. Jason C. (Nina M.) Ferry, Liverpool RR1, and Karen S. Goodling, Steelton; brothers and sisters, J. Norman Goodling, Dauphin, J. Lester Goodling, Mifflinburg RR3, J. Earl Goodling, Selinsgrove, Mrs. George (Shirley) Troutman, Pearl Hayes, and Mrs. Harry (Hazel) Phillips, all of Mount Pleasant Mills RR2; and five grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers, J. Howard, J. Nevin, J. Russell, and J. Glen Goodling; a sister, Verna Goodling; and a grandson, Andrew Ray Messimer in 1985. He was educated at the Laurel Hill Grammar Schoolhouse, Juniata County. He retired in August of 1997 from Excel Homes Inc., Liverpool RR2, where he was employed as a night watchman for nine years. He had also worked as a self-employed carpenter for seven years and was employed by Hempt Brothers, Camp Hill as a supervisor for 24 years. He was a member of the Dressler's Ridge United Methodist Church, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2; Medic 55 of Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg; and the Richfield Ambulance League, Richfield. He enjoyed hunting, wood-working and fishing. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the George P. Garman Funeral Home, Mount Pleasant Mills, with Pastor Michele C. Morgan officiating and Chaplain James R. Taylor of SUN Home Hospice assisting. Interment will be in Dressler's Ridge United Methodist Cemetery, Mount Pleasant Mills RR2. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: SUN Home Health Hospice, 61 Duke St., Northumberland, PA 17857.
