Lucille J. McCartney
GARDEN CITY, Mich. - Lucille J. McCartney, 77, of Dearborn Heights, Mich., died Friday, March 10, 2000, at Garden City Osteopathic Hospital, Garden City, Mich.

Born July 31, 1922, in Defiance, she was a daughter of the late Alexander and Celia (Grace) Solomon. Her husband, William F. McCartney, preceded her in death.

Surviving are: children, Mrs. Robert (Vicki) Kainz, Dryden, Mich. and Richard McCartney, Michigan; brother and sisters, James Solomon, Eastpointe, Mich., Mrs. Pete (Edith) Keifman, Saxton and Mrs. Ken (Patricia) Miller, Marysville; and one granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.

She was a 1939 graduate of Broad Top High School and a graduated of the Phillipsburg State Hospital School of Nursing.

She was a licensed registered nurse.

She was an active member of the Warren Valley United Methodist Church, Dearborn Heights, Mich.

Services were held at the Howe-Peterson Funeral Home in Dearborn, Mich. Interment was in Acacia Park Cemetery, Beverly Hills, Mich.

Dr. Charles Bernard McClain
LEWISTOWN - Dr. Charles Bernard McClain of 9 Woodside Lane, South Hills, Lewistown, died at 10:25 p.m., Monday, July 5, 1999, at his residence.

Born in Mount Union, he was the son of the late Alice (Hunter) and Dr. C.A.R. McClain. His wife, Kathleen (Folkner) McClain, survives.

Also surviving are a daughter, Mrs. V. Michael (Jean) Hartman, 111 Sunset Road, Lewistown and several nieces.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan McClain Moore in 1995; two brothers, Dr. Fred McClain and Dr. Robert McClain; and two sisters, Ethel Bumbaugh and Gertrude Nolte.

He was a graduate of Juniata College and the University of Pennsylvania Medical School.

He served his internship at Allentown General Hospital, accompanied his father in general practice for one year in Mount Union, and later came to the Lewistown Hospital as a resident physician. Within the year, he was appointed surgical assistant to the late Dr. H.C. Cassidy until his appointment as chief of the newly created surgical service. After retiring from the practice of surgery, he served seven years as an emergency room physician at Lewistown Hospital, and after retirement worked in various capacities at Vans Motors, Lewistown.

He was a member of the First United Methodist Church and was a member of the Board of Directors of the First National Bank, Lewistown (now Mellon).

He served two terms as president of the medical staff and was also the surgical staff chairman at Lewistown Hospital. He was president of the Mifflin-Juniata Medical Society for two terms, a member of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, and a member of the American Medical Association.

He also served as a volunteer team physician for 20 years for various sports teams at Lewistown High School.

Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family, with Margaret Patterson and the Rev. Charles Barner officiating. Interment will be in Mount Rock Cemetery.

There will be no public viewing and family will provide all funeral flowers.

The Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St. Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Kendra Lynn McCleary
BELLEVILLE - Kendra Lynn McCleary, 2, of 210 Second St., Belleville, died Wednesday, March 22, 2000, at her home.

Born Feb. 18, 1998 in Lewistown, she was the daughter of Deborah J. White of Belleville and Terry McCleary of Carlisle.

Also surviving are: a brother, Bryson E. Wilkinson, at home; maternal grandmother, Gloria Immel of Huntingdon; maternal great-grandfather, Kenneth Cox of Kistler.

Services will be held at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, with the Rev. Gordon Ross officiating. Interment will be in Haven Rest Memorial Park, Shirleysburg RD1.

Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of service Sunday at the funeral home.

J. Dean McClellan
CENTRE HALL - J. Dean McClellan, 83, of Centre Hall RR, died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 1999, at Centre Crest Nursing Home, Bellefonte.

Born Aug. 8, 1916, in Potter Township, he was a son of the late Harry A. and Margaret (Fleisher) McClellan. His wife, Donnis J. (Heiser) McClellan, whom he married Nov. 15, 1955, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Dena J. Ford, Buckeystown, Md., Dixie L. Bower, Watsontown, and Jeffrey D. McClellan, Centre Hall RR; stepson, Dennis Crawford, Hershey; brother, W. Frank McClellan, State College; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and three step-grandchildren.

He attended Tussey Sink School through eighth grade and Centre Hall-Potter Township High School.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Early in life, he worked as a police officer in State College, and owned and operated J. Dean McClellan Taxi Service in State College. Later, he worked for Rockview State Correctional Institution, retiring in 1976.

He attended Bethany United Methodist Church, Colyer, and was a life member of Lewistown Loyal Order of the Moose and Bald Eagle Fraternal Order of the Police. He was a former member of BPOE Lodge 1600, State College.

Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at Bethany United Methodist Church, Colyer, with the Rev. F. Jeffrey Mugridge officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family at Centre County Memorial Park.

There will be no public viewing.

Mary Josephine McClellan
SILVER SPRING, Md. - Mary Josephine McClellan, 92, of Manor Care Nursing Home, Silver Spring, Md., formerly of McClure, died at 2:30 p.m. Sept. 14, 1999, at the nursing home.

Born March 19, 1908, in McClure, she was a daughter of the late Bruce and Carrie (Knepp) Wagner. Her husband, John E. McClellan, whom she married in 1928, died in 1979.

Surviving are: sons, John McClellan Jr., Laurel, Md., and Ronald E. McClellan, West Chester; brother, Ralph Wagner, McClure RR2; half-brother, Quentin Dreese, McClure RR2; stepsister, Eva Felker, Beaver Springs; 10 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Erma Yarworth; a brother, Dallas Wagner; a half-sister, Betty Dreese; and a stepsister, Pauline Sauers.

She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure, where she had been active earlier in life.

She worked at the former American Viscose and enjoyed crocheting and knitting.

Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure, with the Rev. Philip Thorsen officiating. Interment will be in McClure Union Cemetery.

Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the McClure chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, Inc., North Brown Street, McClure.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure, PA, 17841.

Merle E. "Butch" McClellan
BURNHAM - Merle E. "Butch" McClellan, 75, of 544 Highland Ave., Burnham, died at 8:41 p.m. Tuesday, March 7, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital.

Born Dec. 26, 1924, in Burnham, he was a son of the late Jacob and Altannia (Ashman) McClellan. His wife, Margaret A. (McLucas) McClellan, whom he married Sept. 10, 1949, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Dennis L. McClellan, 538 Highland Ave., Burnham, and J. Andrew McClellan, 508 Circle Lane, Lewistown; sister and brother, Catherine Henry, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, and Melvin McClellan, Edgewater Avenue, Lewistown; three grandchildren and one great-grandson.

He was preceded in death by two sons, Merle E. McClellan Jr. and Rodney McClellan; nine brothers and one sister.

He was a United States Navy veteran of World War II.

He was employed by the American Viscose Corporation and Avtex Fibers for 30 years, retiring in 1986.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Birch Hill Cemetery, with the Rev. Ralph Wilson officiating. Military rites will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.

There will be no public viewing.

Dorothy Isabelle Royer McElhoe
STATE COLLEGE - Dorothy Isabelle Royer McElhoe, 87, of 624 Old Farm Lane, State College, died at 4:40 a.m. Sunday, May 30, 1999, at Outlook Point Assisted Living in State College.

Born May 7, 1912, in Waddle, Centre County, she was a daughter of the late John C. and Carrie (Ripka) Royer. Her husband, Paul E. McElhoe, whom she married June 30, 1928, in Hagerstown, MD., died in 1984.

Surviving are: one son, John Paul McElhoe of State College, three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was a graduate of Reedsville High School and a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Milroy.

She was a member of the State College Senior Citizens and enjoyed flower gardening, cards, crossword puzzles and reading. No funeral services will be held. Interment will be at the convenience of the family.

There is no public viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, Cente Unit, 123 S. Sparks St., State College, PA 16801.

John L. 'Jack' McFadden
MIFFLIN - John L. "Jack" McFadden, 73, of Mifflin died at 7:50 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, 1999, at the Lewistown Hospital.

Born Jan. 7, 1926, in Mifflin, Juniata County, he was the son of the late John L. and Laura M. (Clouser) McFadden.

Surviving are: sisters, Mabel Frick, Camp Hill and Ruth Sterner, Findlay, Ohio; one niece and two nephews.

He was a retired truck driver.

There will be no public viewing.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in the Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown.

Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, is in charge of arrangements.
