Daniel R. Bailey
MCVEYTOWN - Daniel R. Bailey, 70, of McVeytown, died at 10:55 p.m. Thursday, May 18, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born June 16, 1929, in Oliver Township, he was a son of the late Walter and Viola (Bilger) Bailey. His wife, Betty A. (Gill) Bailey, whom he married Aug. 2, 1953, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Rodney L. Bailey, Lewistown, Jeffrey L. Bailey, Alburtis, Connie S. Bailey and Karen L. Bailey, both of Pennsburg, Mrs. Robert C. (Vickie) Romig, Yeagertown, and Mrs. Wilbur (Patricia) Rhodes Jr., New Bloomfield; a sister and brothers, Helen Carter, Dayton, Ohio, Albert Wilson, Lewistown, Harold Bailey, Berry's Personal Care, Mifflintown, Earl Bailey, McVeytown, and Kenneth Bailey, Mattawana; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters and one brother.
He was a Korean Conflict veteran of the United States Army National Guard, having served with the 176th Armored Battalion.
He was a general custodian for the Mifflin County School District, and retired after 25 years of service on June 30, 1993, having worked last at Stodes Mills Middle School.
He was a member of McVeytown United Methodist Church, and the Men's Bible Sunday School Class.
He was a former Boy Scout Commissioner for McVeytown Troop 105, a member of the Order of the Arrow and a Gold Medal recipient for scouting.
He enjoyed woodworking.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown, with the Rev. Marian E. Hartman officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown, where graveside military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

John I. 'Cubby' Bair
LEWISTOWN - John I. "Cubby" Bair, 80, of 306 Valley St., Lewistown, died at 9 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2000, at his residence.
Born May 15, 1919, in Yeagertown, he was a son of Ner E. and Anna (Pennebaker) Bair. His wife, Myrtle C. (Blovelt) Bair, whom he married March 6, 1946, survives.
Also surviving are: children, John E. Bair, Augusta, Maine, Darlene K. Moore, McVeytown, and James I. Bair, Gary L. Bair, Charles D. Bair, and Mrs. Steven (Donna) Duncan, all of Lewistown; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre.
He was employed as a laborer for the Borough of Lewistown for over 30 years, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Rhodes Memorial United Methodist Church, Lewistown. He was also a life member of Highland Park Hose Co.; former member of Lewistown Fire Police; and a former member of Fame Fire Company.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Darvin C. Donahey officiating. Interment will be in Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, where graveside military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown.
Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.

Esther S. Baker
MCCLURE - Esther S. Baker, 89, of McClure died at 6:40 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 1999, at the Grandview Nursing Home, Danville, where she had been a resident since September.
Born May 22, 1910, in West Beaver Township, Snyder County, she was a daughter of the late John M. and Carrie (Weader) Kline. Her husband, Howard Baker, died May 16, 1982.
She is survived by three nieces, Elaine Hauck, Danville, Shirley Pfile, Naperville, Ill. and Janet Walter, McClure.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Grace Kline and a brother, Edward Kline.
She had worked for the former American Viscose, Lewistown; owned a farm near McClure; and cleaned homes in the area.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure.
She enjoyed gardening, embroidery, and hooking rugs.
Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at the Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure, with the Rev. Phil Thorsen officiating. Interment will be in the McClure Union Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to: the Memorial Fund of Trinity Lutheran Church, McClure, PA 17841.
The Aurand Funeral Homes, North Brown St., McClure, is in charge of arrangements.

Keith A. Baker Sr.
BURNHAM - Keith A. Baker Sr., 49, of 405 S. Walnut St., Burnham, died at 7:29 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital.
Born May 2, 1950, in Lewistown, he was a son of Richard R. Baker of Lot 1-Freedom Ave. Trailer Court, Burnham and Janet (Zeiders) Baker of 428 Freedom Ave., Burnham.
Surviving are: a son, Keith A. Baker Jr., at home and a brother, Richard E. Baker, 42 Willow Lane, Reedsville.
He was a 1968 graduate of Chief Logan High School and a 1972 graduate of Mansfield State University, where he received a Bachelor of Arts in education.
He was a member of the office staff and a parts chaser for Ford New Holland in Belleville from 1975 to the present. He was recently disabled.
He was a member of the Burnham Church of the Brethren and a past Burnham Borough councilman.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Burnham Church of the Brethren, 541 W. Freedom Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. Wayne W. Mast and the Rev. Gene W. McCallips officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park.
Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham.

Oliver F. Baker
ERIE - Oliver F. Baker, 81, of 1316 Harper Drive, Erie (Millcreek Township), died Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2000, at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie.
Born March 4, 1918, in Armagh Township, Mifflin County, he was a son of the late Frank and Esther (Shank) Baker. His wife of 54 years, Edith (Grose) Baker, survives.
Also surviving are: sons, Donald F. Miller, Patriot, Ind., and Michael A. Miller, Lewisville, Texas; sisters, Terrie M. Baker, Julian, and Mrs. Fred (Mary) Culbertson, Huntingdon; 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was employed at Erie Malleable, Erie, for many years, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Erie, the Dancing Flames Square Dancing Camping Club and a life member of the Siebenbuerger Club. He also square danced with the Y Squares.
Services will be held at 23 p.m. Monday at Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald Krum officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Rock Cemetery, Lewistown.
Friends may call from 2-5 p.m. and from 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Dusckas Funeral Home Inc., 2607 Buffalo Road, Erie, or from noon until the time of services Monday at Hoenstine Funeral Home, Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown.

Ronald I. 'Duke' Baker
LEWISTOWN - Ronald I. "Duke" Baker, 65, 32 Forsythe St., Lewistown, died at 1:14 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 1, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Sept. 17, 1934, in Lewistown, he was a son of Mary (Reeder) Baker Ranck of Lewistown and the late Ivan Baker. His wife, Donna (Fraine) Baker, 32 Forsythe St., Lewistown, survives.
Also surviving are: a daughter, Stephanie Ann Baker, St. Croix, Virgin Islands; brothers and sister, Alonza Baker and Mrs. Artimo (Imogene) Ciccolini, both of Lewistown, and Gregory Baker, McVeytown; stepsisters and stepbrother, Bonnie Baker, Liverpool, Richard Louder and Rosie Eby, both of Lewistown.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Clyde J. Baker and William Louder.
He was a member of the United States Army.
He was employed at FMC, retiring in 1993.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. today at the Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. William F. Baughman officiating.
Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the services today at the funeral home.

Kenneth L. Bailey
REEDSVILLE - Kenneth L. Bailey, 80, of Outlook Point Commons, Reedsville, formerly of West Fifth Street, Lewistown, died at 5:20 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2000, at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown.
Born April 28, 1919, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Omar L. and Sara C. (Jackson) Bailey.
Surviving are: sister and brother, Mrs. Donald J. (Doris) Doll, McAlisterville and Eugene S. Bailey, Orlando, Fla.; four nieces and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by five brothers and three sisters.
Early in life, he was a clerk and driver for Huey's Meat Market, Lewistown for 25 years. Later he was employed by Rocco's Market, Lewistown, retiring in 1976.
He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Lewistown and was a former member of the church choir.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Dean M. Bobb officiating. Interment will be in St. Mark's Cemetery, Lewistown.
Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the service Saturday at the funeral home.

Helen Mae Bailor
LEWISTOWN - Helen Mae Bailor, 90, a resident of Beverly Healthcare-William Penn, formerly of Bailor Drive, Lewistown RR2, died at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, June 13, 1999, at the nursing home.
Born Nov. 19, 1908, in Mount Union, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edgar and Emma Myrtle (Wilson) Heaster. Her husband, Chester W. Bailor, died Feb. 7, 1993.
Surviving are: children, Mrs. Melvin (Audrey) Kinser, Lewistown RR2, Frederick L. Bailor, 78 Brannon Lane, Lewistown, Mrs. Terry (Saundra) Searer, McVeytown RR2, and Mrs. James (Barbara) Beaver, 315 W. Fifth St., Lewistown; a sister, Elva Marie Frye, Northumberland; 12 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons and a daughter.
She was a homemaker. Early in life, she worked at the American Viscose Corp., Division of FMC.
She was a member of the Church of Christ, Lewistown Heights.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Brother Rick Woodall officiating. Interment will be in New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.Family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
