Merrill W. Bailor
LEWISTOWN - Merrill W. Bailor, 82, of 805 W. Fifth St., Lewistown, died at 3:45 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, 1999, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Oct. 16, 1916, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late Samuel H. and Clara J. (Weimer) Bailor. His wife, Joyce (Esh) Bailor, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Richard M. Bailor, Milroy, Mrs. Rodger (Sue) Howe, Avon, Colo., Timothy R. Bailor, York; eight grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Chester W. Bailor, a sister, Grace S. Bailor, half-sisters, Hilda Spigelmyer, Gertrude Klinger, Ruth Hall, and an infant sister.
He graduated in 1935 from Lewistown High School.
He was employed at the American Viscose Corporation for 43 years in the shipping department, retiring in 1980.
He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church, Lewistown, and was a veteran of World War II, having serving in the U.S. Navy.
He served as a union chairman for a number of years. He was a member of the Lewistown American Legion. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Juniata Memorial Park with the Rev. Gerald Krum officiating.
Memorials may be made to: St. John's Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown PA 17044.
Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, Belleville, is in charge of arrangements.

Eleanor Mae Bailey
LEWISTOWN - Eleanor Mae Bailey, 77, of 32 Parkview Ave., Lewistown, died at 10:35 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 1999 at Lewistown Hospital.
Born March 26, 1922, in McClure, she was the daughter of the late Samuel H. and Kate R. (Gilbert) Lash. Her husband, David S. Bailey Sr., died Jan. 24, 1998.
Surviving are: children, Mrs. David (Shirley) Forshey, Mount Union, David S. Bailey Jr., 32 Parkview Ave., Lewistown, Paul W. Bailey, 220 S. Spruce St., Lewistown, and Mrs. Gary C. (Mary) Griffith, 149 Country Lane, McVeytown; brother and sister, Samuel Lash, Parkview Avenue, Lewistown and Dorothy Gordon, Old Stagecoach Road, Lewistown; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.
She was a homemaker and early in life, she was employed in the housekeeping department of the Lewistown Hospital.
She attended the Parkview Church of the Brethren.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, with the Rev. William V. Fetrow officiating. Interment will be in Birch Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.

Frank H. Baker
MIFFLIN - Frank H. Baker, 85, a resident of the Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin HC63, formerly of Lakemont, died at 4:45 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 1999, at the village.
Born Feb. 24, 1914, in Blair County, he was the son of the late Simon C. and Pearl M. (Hite) Baker. His wife, Jane (Kauffman) Baker, whom he married May 29, 1937, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Cliff Baker, Mifflintown, Cynthia Ritzman, Thompsontown and Tracy Cisney, Port Royal; brothers and sister, William B. Baker, Hollidaysburg, Lynnwood Baker, Phoenix, Ariz., and Anna Mary Bounds, Duncansville; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Virginia Jean Baker and two sisters, Hazel Heuston and Elsie Cupples.
He worked as a boring mill operator in Machine Shop I at the Standard Steel in Burnham, retiring in 1977 after 37 years of service.
He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Mifflin; the York Rite Juniata Valley Council 64; the Tall Cedars of Lebanon, Juniata Valley Forest 88; the Lakemont Caddies Association; a 50-year member of the Union Lodge 324 F&AM and the Lewistown Royal Arch Chapter 186.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. George Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Mifflintown.
Friends may call from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the services Tuesday at the funeral Home. A masonic service will be conducted at 2:15 p.m. by the Union Lodge.

Gregory A. Baker
CARLISLE - Gregory A. Baker, 60, of Manor Care Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Carlisle, and formerly of McVeytown RR2, died at 2:10 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2000, at the center.
Born Nov. 27, 1939, in Lewistown, he was a son of Mary (Richardson) Baker Ranck, Lewistown, and the late Ivan Baker. His wife, Kathryn (Eckhard) Baker, whom he married Aug. 3, 1972, survives.
Also surviving are: sons, Randy Baker, Lewistown, and Barry Baker, Colorado; stepsons, Richard Dickson, McVeytown and Kenneth Dickson, Strodes Mills; two brothers, Alfonso Baker, Lewistown, and Richard Louder, Granville; three sisters, Mrs. Artimo (Imogene) Ciccolini, Burnham, Bonnie Baumgardner, Liverpool, and Mrs. Melvin (Rosie) Eby, Lewistown; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Clyde "Mort" Baker, Ronald "Duke" Baker and William Louder.
He was employed in the ring mill at Standard Steel, Burnham, for 35 years.
He served in the United States Army.
He was a life member of City Hook, and Ladder Fire Company and was a member of the Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No. 143. He was an avid fan of late model and sprint car racing and demolition derbies.
Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Juniata Memorial Park, with the Rev. Jerry Miller officiating.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 2040 Linglestown Road, Suite 106, Harrisburg, PA 17055.

J. Harry Baker Sr.
WILKES-BARRE - J. Harry Baker Sr., 84, of State Street, Nanticoke, died Tuesday, Oct. 26, 1999, in the emergency room at Mercy Hospital, Wilkes-Barre.
Born Feb. 5, 1915, in Lewistown, he was a son of the late David L. and Etta (Hommel) Baker. His wife, Doris (Wertz) Baker, whom he married Feb. 22, 1945, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Rev. Carl Baker, Martinsburg, W.Va., John H. Baker Jr., Hatboro, and Carol Hamilton, Quakertown; brothers and sisters, Robert Baker, Port Royal, Rev. Bruce Baker, Newburgh, N.Y., Ray Baker and Elnora Zarkovich, both of Mifflintown, Betty Fultz, Etta Henry, and Shirley Morgan, all of Lewistown, Martha Warner, Mechanicsburg, and Nancy Francis, Quebec, Canada; and five grandchildren..
He was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Brown Baker, Daniel Baker, Rev. Harold Baker, Freeda Smith and Dorothy Baker.
He was a 1931 graduate of Yeagertown High School.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theatre as a master sergeant.
He had resided in various areas while employed as a manager for F.W. Woolworth and Co., the last being in Nanticoke. He retired after 46 years of service in 1981.
He attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Nanticoke.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 120 S. Walnut St., Nanticoke, with the Rev. Wayne O. Beaver, pastor of the church, and the Rev. Carl Baker, his son and pastor of Rosemont Grace Brethren Church, Martinsburg, W.Va., officiating. Interment will be Saturday in Mummert Meeting House Cemetery, RR1, Abbottstown, Pa.
Family will receive friends from 10 until the time of services Friday at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to: the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, 120 S. Walnut St., Nanticoke, PA 18634, or to the charity of one's choice.
Davis-Dinelli Funeral Home, 170 E. Broad St., Nanticoke, is in charge of arrangements.

Russell B. Balmer
BEAVER SPRINGS - Russell B. Balmer, 78, of Beaver Springs RR1 died at 7:30 a.m. Friday, July 23, 1999, at Evangelical Community Hospital, Lewisburg.
Born June 9, 1921, in Lititz, he was a son of the late John and Florence (Weidler) Balmer. His wife, Sarah (Hartman) Balmer, whom he married Dec. 25, 1940, survives.
He was preceded in death by a son, Wayne Balmer, on Nov. 1, 1965, who died during the Vietnam Conflict, and a brother, Lowell Balmer.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
He retired from the parts room of the former Beavertown Weaving Mills in 1986 after many years of service.
He was a member of Beaver Lutheran Church, Beaver Springs RR1 where he had served on the church council. He enjoyed studying about the Civil War, golfing and NASCAR racing.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Beaver Lutheran Church with the Rev. Stanley D. Reep officiating. Interment will be in Adamsburg Cemetery, Beaver Springs, with graveside military services given by the Erman E. Lepley American Legion Post 23.
The family will receive friends at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services Monday. The Beavertown Chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 West Market St., Beavertown, is in charge of arrangements.

Roy L. Baney
THOMPSONTOWN - Roy L. Baney, 84, of West Main Street,Thompsontown, died at 4:35 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital.
Born Jan. 2, 1916, in Wells Tannery, Fulton County, he was a son of the late J.E. and Mary Viola (Burkett) Baney. His wife, Patricia Ann (Regester) Baney, whom he married Dec. 8, 1953, survives.
Also surviving are: sons, John E. Baney, Mountain Road, Millerstown, Roy R. "Randy" Baney and Michael K. Baney, both of Thompsontown; sisters and brother, Lillian Springfield, Swansboro N.C., Helen Jones, Turnersville, N.J., Elva Pannebaker and Charles Baney, both of Lancaster; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother, John E. Baney and a sister, Katherine B. Hawk.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II.
He was a railroad brakeman for Conrail, retiring in 1982.
He was a member of Thompsontown United Methodist Church, the Tennis Lodge 371 F&AM, Thompsonstown, and the J.E. Bowen Post 122 AMVETS, Thompsontown.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown.
There will be no public viewing.

Judith A. Bannon
SHAMOKIN DAM - Judith A. Bannon, 60, of 10th Avenue, Shamokin Dam, and formerly of Lewistown, died at 6:45 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 9, 1999, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
Born Feb. 28, 1939, in Reading, she was a daughter of Robert Heller of Reading and the late Florence (Wentzel) Boyer. Her husband, William L. Bannon, whom she married June 6, 1959, survives.
Also surviving are: children, Matthew C. Bannon, Spring City, and Mrs. Edward (Diane L.) Berryman, Lancaster; sister, Laurie Munnion, Lebanon; two half brothers, Steve Heller and Robert Heller, both of Reading; two grandchildren; and a stepmother, Audrey Heller, Reading.
She was a graduate of Lewistown High School and attended Penn State University.
She was a member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam.
She was an avid bowler.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Shamokin Dam, with the Rev. Wayne C. Muthler officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Memorial Fund, Shamokin Dam, PA 17876.
