Bryson Clark Ocker Jr.
CENTER VALLEY - Bryson Clark Ocker Jr., 72, of Center Valley, formerly of Lewistown, died Wednesday, May 12, 1999, at the Lehigh Valley Cedar Crest Hospital.

Born July 24, 1926, in Maitland, he was the son of the late Bryson C. and Eleanor (Beck) Ocker Sr. His wife of 46 years, Jean E. (Young) Ocker of Center Valley, survives.

Also surviving are: a son, Dr. Clark Mitchell Ocker, Wyomissing; a daughter, Dr. Rosalie Ocker, Lancaster County (Marietta); brothers and sisters, Francelyn Goss, Enola, Lois Smith and Jon Ocker, both of Mifflinburg, and Sidney Ocker, Sunbury; and four grandchildren.

He was a 1944 graduate of Lewistown High School and he received a bachelor of science degree in mechanical engineering from Penn State University.

He was an engineer, specializing in air and hydraulic brake systems, employed by Mack Truck Inc., Allentown, retiring in 1985. He later worked as a private engineering consultant.

He was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Lutheran Church, Bethlehem, where he was past president of the Congregation Council, and sang in the Senior and Faith choirs.

He was also a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers, and was a past president of the Lehighton Pilots Club.

A memorial service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Lutheran Church, with Senior Pastor Edith Roberts officiating.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Friday at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Music fund of St. Peter's Lutheran Church, 474 Vine St., Bethlehem, PA 18015.

The Pearson Funeral Home, 1901 Linden St., Bethlehem, is in charge of arrangements.

Miriam E. Ocker
BEAVER SPRINGS - Miriam E. Ocker, 78, of Beaver Springs died at 6:50 a.m. Monday, Jan. 24, 2000, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Born Aug. 2, 1921, in Decatur Township, Mifflin County, she was a daughter of the late Rev. Joseph H. and Vina Amanda (Wagner) Fleming. Her husband, Carson H. Ocker, whom she married Dec. 16, 1939, survives.

Also surviving are: three daughters, Barbara G. Ocker, Beaver Springs, Mrs. Joseph (Ruth Ann) Feehrer Sr., McClure, and Mrs. Bob (Kathryn L.) Koller, McClure RR2; sisters and brothers, Kathryn Weeder, Selinsgrove, Josephine Gallagher, Doylestown, Mrs. Ed (Elsie) Wagner, Beaver Springs RR1, John Fleming, Huntingdon, and Bob Fleming, Boyertown; nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and stepmother, Grace Reigle, Beaver Springs.

She was preceded in death by sisters, Ruth Naomi Fleming and Margaret Fleming; and brothers, David Fleming, Allen Seal Fleming, Carl Melvin Fleming and Joseph Harold Fleming.

She was a homemaker who enjoyed quilting, knitting, gardening and spending time with her family.

Early in life, she worked at Chef-Boy-Ardee, Milton, and she worked as a cook at West Snyder High School from 1969 to 1983. She and her daughter, Barbara, were instrumental in establishing and operating Five Barley Loaves, a local food bank in western Snyder County.

She was a member of Bannerville Church of the Brethren, McClure RR2, where she served as a children's Sunday school teacher and a deaconess. She also served as leader of the Merry Mixers, a 4-H Chapter in western Snyder County.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Bannerville Church of the Brethren with the Rev. Liane Wagner officiating. Interment will be at Adamsburg Cemetery, Beaver Springs.

Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the Beavertown chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown.

Owen M. O'Connor
CARLSTADT - Owen M. O'Connor, 72, of Carlstadt, NJ, died Monday, July 5, 1999, in Carlstadt.

Born in Wallington, he was the son of the late William and Mary O'Connor. His wife, Connie (Bennato) O'Connor, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Kenneth O'Connor, Carlstadt, NJ, Thomas O'Connor, East Rutherford, NJ, Mrs. William (Colleen) Malnick, Washington Township, NJ, and Mrs. Edward (Maureen) Andexler, Toms River, NJ; brothers, William O'Connor, Temple, Maine, Joseph O'Connor, Little Falls, NJ, and Raymond O'Connor, McClure; and four grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by brothers and sister, John O'Connor, Michael O'Connor and Elaine O'Connor.

He was a veteran having served in the U.S. Navy Seabees during World War II.

He was a warehouse man at Grand Union, Carlstadt for 23 years, retiring in 1989.

He was a parishioner of St. Joseph's Church in East Rutherford. He was also a member of Schmidt-Hoeger VFW Post 3149, the G.C. Burkadt American Legion Post, the Carlstadt Board of Education from 1979-1985, the Carlstadt Planning Board, and the Carlstadt Property Maintenance Tribunal.

The Kimak Funeral Home Inc., 425 Broad St., Carlstadt, NJ, was in charge of arrangements.

Marie B. Olbrich
LEWISTOWN - Marie B. Olbrich, 98, of 507 Lindbergh Way, Lewistown died at 1:30 a.m. Thursday, March 2, 2000, at her home.

Born July 16, 1901, in Orange, N.J., she was a daughter of the late Adam and Margaret (Hanft) Behringer. Her husband, Carl E. Olbrich, preceded her in death in 1974.

Surviving are: a son and daughter, Paul D. Orbrich, 507 Lindbergh Way, Lewistown, and Mrs. James (Carol) Geary, Bonner Springs, Kan.; six grandsons and six great-grandchildren.

She was the last of her immediate family, having been preceded in death by two brothers, John and Peter Behringer.

Until the time of her retirement, she was office manager for Dr. Richard Feige in Maplewood, N.J.

She attended Lewistown Presbyterian Church and was a life member of Hillside and Valley Presbyterian Church, Orange, N.J. She was also a member of the Foresters in Orange, N.J.

Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 11 at the Chapel of Rosedale Cemetery, Orange, N.J.

The family will provide all flowers.

There will be no public viewing.

Isaac Richard 'Bill' Omps
BERKELEY SPRINGS, W. Va. - Isaac Richard "Bill" Omps, of Berkeley Springs, W. Va., died Monday, Dec. 20, 1999, at City Hospital in Martinsburg, W.Va.

Born March 17, 1923, in Hancock, Md., he was a son of the late George Peter and Carrie Cleo (Michael) Omps. His wife, Agnes Isabel (Bain) Omps, died Jan. 9, 1995.

Surviving are four daughters, Patsy Hipp, Shepherdstown, W.Va., Barbara Cooper, Charles Town, W.Va., Brenda Kline, Milroy, and Sharon West, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; and nine grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by five brothers, Charles "Buck" Omps, George "Porky" Omps, Harris "Bud" Omps, Melvin Omps and Homer Omps.

He attended public schools in the Oakland section of Morgan County, W.Va.

He served in the 285th Engineering Combat Battalion of the U.S. Army during World War II.

He worked construction and was a retired heavy equipment operator.

He was Protestant by faith. He was a member of the Morgan County Farm Bureau and the A.A.R.P.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va., with the Rev. Glenn F. Stevens Sr. officiating. Interment with military honors will be provided by the Tri-State Honor Guard in Greenwood Grove Cemetery.

Friends may call from 10:30 a.m.-9 p.m. today and family will receive friends from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home, 306 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, W.Va.

John H. O'Neal
MIFFLIN - John H. O'Neal, 75, of Locust Grove Retirement Village and formerly of Port Royal, died at 6:14 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 16, 2000, at the village.

Born Sept. 18, 1924, in Newport, Perry County, he was a son of the late Jay W. and Florence (Ramp) O'Neal. His wife, Ruth Ann (Ellis) O'Neal, whom he married Oct. 29, 1948, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Donald E. O'Neal, Mifflintown RR3, Steven E. O'Neal, Port Royal, Sheila A. Sieber, Thompsontown RR2, and Pamela J. Haines, Port Royal RR1; sisters, Betty M. Wells, Steele, Mo., and Doris A. O'Neal, Thompsontown; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Clyde "Tiny" O'Neal.

He was a 1942 graduate of Juniata Joint High School, Mifflintown.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean Conflict.

In 1984, he retired as a construction supervisor for PennDOT, Harrisburg.

He was a life member of the American Legion Post No. 298, Mifflintown.

He was an avid football and race fan.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. George S. Reynolds officiating. Interment will be in Locust Run Cemetery, Locust Run.

Full military burial honors will be conducted by the Juniata County Veterans Council.

Family will receive friends from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.

Chester E. Oppel
CATAWISSA - Chester E. Oppel, 89, of 131 Main St., Allied Apartments, Catawissa, died Sunday, Oct. 10, 1999, at the Orangeville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where he had been a patient since Oct. 5. He had been in failing health for two weeks.

Born Oct. 10, 1910, in Allensport, Huntingdon County, he was a son of the late George and Mabel (Miller) Oppel. His wife, Eleanor L. (Black) Oppel, whom he married April 29, 1933, survives.

Also surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Ronald (Cathy) Rohrback, Catawissa RR3; sister and brothers, Helene Leonard, Mount Union, Paul Oppel, Hollidaysburg, Howard Oppel, Enola, and Glenn Oppel, Belleville; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, the Rev. Bruce Oppel, and two sisters, Grace White Lloyd and Leyna Oppel.

He was a member of Atkinson Mills United Methodist Church, and the Senior Citizens Center, Atkinson Mills.

He was an avid hunter and enjoyed gardening.

Early in life, he worked on his father's dairy farm. For more than 30 years, he owned and operated the former Oppel's Motel, McVeytown, which is now Meadowview Manor Retirement Home, until he retired from motel management in 1981.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Allen R. Horne Funeral Home, 193 McIntyre Road, Catawissa, with the Rev. Robert Minto, pastor of Grace Bible Church, Numidia, officiating. Interment will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Franklin Township.

Family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday and from 10 a.m. until the time of services at the funeral home.

Sandra E. Orner
BELLEVILLE - Sandra E. Orner, 47, a resident of Valley View, Belleville, formerly of Reedsville, died of natural causes, at 10:30 p.m. Monday, Nov. 15, 1999, at the Lewistown Hospital.

Born Aug. 4, 1952, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of P. Eugene and Betty L. (Shilling) Orner of Rear 32 Pearl St., Reedsville.

She is also survived by a sister, Mrs. William (Connie) Maben, Naginey.

She was a 1970 graduate of Kishacoquillas High School.

She worked as a filing clerk for Easter Seals for 10 years.

She was a member of the Reedsville Evangelical Lutheran Church.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Valley View Chapel, Belleville, with the Rev. Kenneth Longfield and the Rev. Galen Sharp officiating. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville.

There will be no public viewing, but friends may call at her parents' home at Rear 32 Pearl St., Reedsville.
