Sara Ann Spangler
HUNTINGDON - Sara Ann Spangler, 87, of Oneida Township, Huntingdon RR2, died at 11:45 a.m. Sunday, April 16, 2000, at her home.

Born June 26, 1912, in Milroy, she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Dickson) Monsell. Her husband, George Albert Spangler Jr., whom she married in 1932 in Hagerstown, Md., died June 28, 1977.

Surviving are: children, Charles Spangler, Spring Mills, Mrs. Harold (Margaret) Randolph, Belleville, Helen McMinn, Burnham, Joyce Poleck, Petersburg, Connie Spangler and Anna Spangler, both of Huntingdon; 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Francis L. Little, on Sept. 13, 1998; and a grandson, John Carl Cramer.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Milroy United Methodist Church.

She was an avid bingo player and enjoyed cooking and baking.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Cutright-Speck Funeral Home, Ridge Road and Juniata Avenue, Smithfield Township, Huntingdon, with Pastor Bert A. Bowen officiating. Interment will be in Donation Cemetery.

Friends may call from noon until the time of services today at the funeral home.

Hazel V. Spece
THOMPSONTOWN - Hazel V. Spece, 94, of Perry Village, New Bloomfield and formerly of Thompsontown, died at 4:05 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, 1999, at the nursing home.

Born on Jan. 31, 1905, in Cocolamus, she was a daughter of the late Ira and Mary (Stuck) Shelley. Her husband, William D. Spece, whom she married on Jan. 29, 1927, preceded her in death on March 1, 1998.

Surviving are: four children, Thelma J. Bitting, Pine Grove Mills, Sara J. Davis, Hemet, Calif., Shirley A. Martin, Thompsontown and Terry W. Spece, Ickesburg; seven sisters, Mabel Strawser, McAlisterville, Esther Moore, Paradise, Keturah Brubaker, East Salem, Ann Long, Thompsontown, Lulu Daughenbaugh, McAlisterville and Geraldine Leach, Mifflin; one brother, Paul Shelley, Cocolamus; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a sister, Sarah Benner.

She had attended Neimond's Independent Church, Richfield RR1.

She attended elementary school in Leister Valley.

She was a homemaker all her life, except for working in a garment factory early in life. She enjoyed baking, sewing and crocheting.

The funeral service will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with Pastor Terry Sheaffer officiating. Interment will be in Brown's United Methodist Cemetery, Cocolamus.

Friends will be received 4-9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the family will be present to receive friends 7-9 p.m.

Memorial donations may be made to the Perry Village "Forget Me Nots," 213 E. Main St., New Bloomfield, PA 17068.

Shawn Lee Specht
LEWISTOWN - Shawn Lee Specht, 22, of Rear 417 Green Ave. Extended, Lewistown, died Thursday, May 4, 2000, at his residence.

Born Dec. 3, 1977, in Lewistown, he was the son of William Specht of Florida and Karen (James) Specht of Rear 417 Green Ave. Extended, Lewistown.

Also surviving are: maternal grandmother, Dolly James, Lewistown; maternal grandparents, Donald and Dorothy James, Lewistown; paternal grandfather, David Specht, Lewistown; paternal grandmother, Phyllis Lilly, Lewistown; and paternal great-grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Knepper, Lewistown.

He was preceded in death by an infant sister.

He was a technician at Print Right Millwright Inc., Mifflintown.

He attended Calvary Bible Church.

Services will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc., 75 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. Michael Bailey officiating. Interment will be private and in Mt. Rock Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Viola Katherine Speck
CARLISLE - Viola Katherine Speck, 89, a resident of the Thornwald Home, Carlisle, formerly of Lindbergh Way, Lewistown, died at 3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at the home.

Born Nov. 13, 1910, in Lewisberry, she was a daughter of the late Logan and Bertha (Miller) Trout. Her husband, John Melvin Speck, died Feb. 15, 1990.

Surviving are: a daughter, Mrs. Walter (Doris) Stumpff Jr., Tuscaloosa, Ala.; sister, Iris Trout, Hershey; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, Earnest Speck in 1995 and a brother, Lloyd Trout.

She was a homemaker and early in life, she was owner/operator of Speck's Restaurant, South Main Street, Lewistown, where she was an accomplished pie maker.

She was a member of St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, Lewistown and the Dames of Malta. She was a former Rebekah and a member of the board of directors of the Rebekah Home.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown, with the Rev. Gerald A. Krum officiating.

There will be no public viewing.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, 120 N. Main St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the charity of one's choice.

Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.

Harmon J. Speece
THOMPSONTOWN - Harmon J. Speece, 80, of Thompsontown RR1, died of natural causes at 11 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 28, 1999, at his residence.

Born April 29, 1919, in Mifflintown, he was a son of the late Lloyd B. and Sara (Jones) Speece. His wife, Lena A. (Rice) Speece, died Nov. 30, 1972.

Surviving are: children, Robert L. Speece Sr., Lewistown, Quinn J. Swartz, Richfield RR1, and Judy K. Dunn, Thompsontown RR2; brother and sister, Wayne B. Speece, Harrisburg, and Mary E. Bender, Malta Home, Granville; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles Speece, and a sister, Ruth M. Rice.

He was a U. S. Army veteran of World War II, having served from 1944-1946 in the Asian Pacific Theatre.

He retired as a machinist from Bethlehem Steel Corporation, Steelton, after more than 30 years of service. He had previously worked the family farm in Thompsontown RR1 and, earlier in life, had worked at the Jet Aircraft Manufacturing Plant, Baltimore, Md.

He was a member of Locust Run United Methodist Church, Thompsontown RR1, and a prior member of Whiteland United Methodist Church, Millerstown RR2, where he had been Sunday school superintendent. He was also a past member and president of VFW Post 5863, Mifflintown; past member of American Legion Post 298, Mifflintown, and a member of AFLCIO United Steelworkers Union Local of Harrisburg.

He enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, with the Rev. Maureen Wagner officiating. Interment will be in East Salem Cemetery, Thompsontown RR1, where military honors will be accorded by the Juniata County Veterans Association.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 7-9 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to: Locust Run Methodist Church, RR1, Thompsontown, PA 17094.

Anna S. Speicher
REEDSVILLE - Anna S. Speicher, 52, of 810 Coffee Run Road, Reedsville, died at 3:15 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 2, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital.

Born March 12, 1947, in Reedsville, she was a daughter of the late Levi and Roda (Hostettler) Yoder. Her husband, Michael A. Speicher, survives.

Also surviving are: brothers and sisters, David Yoder and Mrs. Sam (Roda) Hostettler, both of Reedsville, Aaron Yoder, McClure, Levi Yoder, Naginey, Steve Yoder and Mrs. Yonie (Emma) Speicher, both of Milroy, Mrs. Michael (Sarah) Hostettler, Chambersville, and Mrs. Jake (Elizabeth) Zook, Aaronsburg.

She was preceded in death by one brother.

She was a member of the Old Order Amish.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family. Interment will be in Green Lane Amish Cemetery, Brown Township.

Heller-Hoenstine Burnham Funeral Home, 108 First Ave., Burnham, is in charge of arrangements.

Bruce Howard Spigelmyer
SELINSGROVE - Bruce Howard Spigelmyer, 81, of Penn Lutheran Village, Selinsgrove, formerly of Beavertown, died at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2000, at the nursing home.

Born May 30, 1918, in Paxtonville, he was a son of the late Thomas and Beulah (Gill) Spigelmyer. His wife, Grace Rearick, whom he married June 24, 1939, died July 17, 1972.

Surviving are: a son, Dallas Spigelmyer, Selinsgrove; three sisters, Jean Hartman, Fairborn, Ohio: Nora Ritter, Milton and Mrs. Dick (Letha) Griffith, Kreamer; three brothers, Stoy Spigelmyer, Reedsville, John Spigelmyer, Selinsgrove and Jack Spigelmyer, Selinsgrove; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren;

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Harriet Seward and Phyllis Sailor; and two brothers, Elwood Spigelmyer and Malcolm Spigelmyer.

He was a United States Army veteran of World War II and served in Japan.

He retired from the Selinsgrove State School, motorpool. He was a member of Heiser-Hoffman VFW Post 5640, Middleburg and enjoyed hunting and fishing.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Beavertown chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, Inc., 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, with the Rev. Stanley D. Reep officiating. Interment will be in the Paxtonville Union Cemetery, where graveside military services will be provided by the Heiser-Hoffman VFW, Middleburg.

Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where family will be present from 7-9 p.m. to receive friends.

Memorial contributions may be made to: the Beaver Lutheran Church, Beaver Springs, PA 17813.

Doris J. Spigelmyer
LEWISTOWN - Doris J. Spigelmyer, 60, of 2238 Hawstone Road, Lewistown, died at 6:59 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 9, 1999, at her home.

Born Dec. 3, 1938, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Harry "Pete" and Pauline R. (Goss) Bradley. Her husband, Gerald B. Spigelmyer, whom she married July 7, 1956, survives.

Also surviving are: children, Toby L. Spigelmyer, Port Royal RR3, Andy D. Spigelmyer, Port Royal RR1, Michael B. Spigelmyer, Spring Grove RR7, Todd B. Spigelmyer and Mrs. Timothy (Tammy) Nipple, both of Mifflintown RR3, and Jason B. Spigelmyer, Lewistown; brother and sister, Mrs. Thomas (Shirley) Wismer, Lewistown and Harry Bradley Jr., McClure RR2; and seven grandchildren.

She was a 1956 graduate of Lewistown High School.

She was a part-time employee of Best Mart, Mifflintown.

She was a member of the Mifflintown Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses.

Services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Mifflintown Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses, with J. Michael Wagner officiating. Interment will be in the New Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of the services Sunday at the Mifflintown Kingdom Hall.

The Rex Funeral Home, Port Royal, is in charge of arrangements.
