Marie L. Ruble
MIFFLINTOWN - Marie L. Ruble, 67, of 105 N. Fifth St., Mifflintown, died at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 22, 2000 at Locust Grove Retirement Village, Mifflin HC63. Born Dec. 31, 1932 in Nancy, France, she was a daughter of the late Paul and Geanne (Reinbold) Bontemps. Her husband, Scott D. Ruble, survives. Also surviving are: a daughter, Violette M. Darrow, Honey Grove RR1; a brother and a sister, Felix Bontemps and Paulette Bontemps, and a number of nieces and nephews, all living in France. She was preceded in death by an infant son, Timothy Mark Ruble. A homemaker, she enjoyed collecting angels and four-leaf clovers. Graveside services and interment will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Old Church Hill Cemetery, Port Royal, with the Rev. Douglas Kelley officiating. There will be no viewing. Guss Funeral Home, 20 S. Third St., Mifflintown, is in charge of arrangements.

Robert R. Ruble
MILROY - Robert R. Ruble, 73, of 59 Randall Drive, Milroy, died at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born Sept. 14, 1927, in Milroy, he was a son of the late Clarence Edward and Mary Jane (Kurtz) Ruble. His wife, Eleanor J. (Venditta) Ruble, whom he married Nov. 16, 1948, survives. Also surviving are: daughters, Connie J. Riden and Joyce R. Jimenez, both of Milroy; two brothers, Merle C. Ruble, New Cumberland and William F. Ruble, Milroy; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sister and brothers, Gladys Carpenter in 1994, James Ruble in 1944, Ray E. Ruble in 1987, David E. Ruble Sr. in 2000, Charles Ruble and Richard Ruble. He retired from New Holland, Belleville in 1986. He was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Milroy and the Milroy Fire Company. Private services will be held at the convenience of the family, with Pastor Douglas Sabin officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Kish Valley Grace Brethren Church, 99 Taylor Drive, Reedsville, PA 17084. Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, is in charge of arrangements.

Hayden G. Runk
MCVEYTOWN - Hayden G. Runk, 86, of Ferguson Valley Road, McVeytown, died at 6:25 p.m. Monday, July 3, 2000, at Ohesson Manor Nursing Home, Lewistown. Born Oct. 1, 1913, in Clay Township, Huntingdon County, he was the son of the late David W. and Naomi (Newman) Runk. His wife, Lillian M. (Stine) Runk, whom he married Oct. 22, 1938, survives. Also surviving are: a son, David S. Runk, Lewistown; a daughter, Elaine S. Richards, Cranford, N.J.; five brothers, Kenneth W. Runk, Elkhorn, Wis., Wayne E. Runk and Sheldon D. Runk, both of McVeytown, Max L. Runk, Punxsutawney, and Boyd W. Runk, Mount Union; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother and four sisters. He was a self-employed farmer, retiring in 1975, after having operated the Valley View Farm in Ferguson Valley for 35 years. He was a member of the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, where he served as a deacon and was a member of the Men's Bible Sunday School Class. He was also a member of the former Interstate Milk Producers Association. He enjoyed gardening. Burial will be at 10:15 a.m. Thursday at the Spring Run Cemetery, McVeytown, followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. at the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, with the Rev. Jerry Lee Miller officiating. Family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. today at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 S. Market St., McVeytown. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Spring Run Church of the Brethren, PO Box 333, McVeytown, PA 17051.

Christina A. Runtagh
LUNENBURG, Mass. - Christina A. (Calleri) Runtagh, 46, of 747 Flat Hill Road, Lunenburg, Mass., died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at her home after a long illness with cancer. Born May 20, 1955, in Berwick, she was the daughter of Carmen Calleri of Berwick and the late Christine (Magrone) Calleri. Her husband of 23 years, Richard R. Runtagh, formerly of Lewistown, survives. Also surviving are: children, Jordan R. Runtagh and Kirin A. Runtagh, both of Lunenburg, Mass; and brothers, John Calleri, Arlington, Texas and Carmen Calleri, Bloomsburg. She graduated from Berwick High School in 1973 and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Bucknell University in 1977. She worked as a software engineer for various companies and most recently she held the position of director of software engineering for Cadence Design Systems, Chelmsford, Mass. A memorial service will be held at noon Friday at the United Parish, 39 Main St., Lunenburg, Mass. There will be no calling hours. The Lunenburg Chapel of the Sawyer-Miller-Masciarelli Funeral Homes, 763 Massachusetts Ave., Lunenburg, Mass., is in charge of arrangements.

Edward B. Rupert
HUNTINGDON - Edward B. Rupert, 78, of 927 Mifflin St., Huntingdon, died at 8:20 a.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at his home. Born Oct. 3, 1921, in Burnham, he was the son of the late Ralph Maxon and Lizzie Jane (Ashman) Rupert. His wife, Patricia J. (Weir) Rupert, whom he married Aug. 16, 1947, survives. Also surviving are: sons, Timothy A. Rupert and David L. Rupert, both of Huntingdon and two grandsons. He was the last of his immediate family. He was a World War II veteran, having served with Headquarters Battery of the 939th Field Artillery Battalion of the U. S. Army, seeing action in the GO 33 & 40WD 45, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Rhineland, and Northern Apennines and Central Europe Campaigns. He was awarded the Good Conduct Medal, the Croix DeGuerre, the American Defense Service Medal, and the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal with five Bronze Stars. He worked at Owens Corning Fiberglas, Huntingdon, retiring in 1984 after 27 years of service. He was Protestant by faith. He was a life member of the Brooklyn Fire Co., Lewistown and a member of the Standing Stone VFW Post 1754, and the Frank P. Hommon Post 24, American Legion, Huntingdon. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with the Rev. Doyle H. Klinger Jr. officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends noon-2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: The Home Nursing Agency, 900 Bryan St., Huntingdon, PA 16652 or to P.R.I.D.E., 307 10th St., Huntingdon, PA 16652.

William M. Russell Sr.
BURNHAM - William M. Russell Sr., 78, of 317 Fifth Avenue, Burnham, died at 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 25, 2000, at his residence. Born March 21, 1922, in Lewistown, he was the son of the late Harry Melvin and Esther Jane (Mowery) Russell. His wife, Doris E. (Henry) Russell, whom he married March 21, 1946, survives. Also surviving are: children, William M. Russell Jr., Reedsville, Sharon A. Barger, Starr A. Bratton, Kathy Sue Shawver, all of Lewistown, Scott A. Russell, Burnham, and Steven L. Russell, Port Royal; 15 grandchildren and 29 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Jack Russell, and a sister, Martha Walker. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He had worked for Beaver Brothers Bakery, Poloron Homes, and Giant Foods. Services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Michael Bailey and the Rev. James Phillips officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, Lewistown. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the American Cancer Society, Mifflin-Juniata Unit, 112 North Wayne Street, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Edna V. Rutherford
MILL CREEK - Edna V. Rutherford, 92, of 74 SR 655, Mill Creek, where she resided with her daughter, Jane Kanagy, died at 2 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born April 10, 1908, in Timberville, Va., she was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Sausman. Her husband, Milton A. Rutherford, whom she married Aug. 19, 1925, died July 11, 1990. Surviving are: children, Robert Rutherford, Downington and Mrs. Jacob (Jane) Kanagy, SR 655 Mill Creek; foster daughters, Mrs. Dennis (Lois) Allison, Alexandria and Mrs. Ray (Frances) Hartzler, Yeagertown; 14 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was the last of her immediate family and was preceded in death by a son, Charles and one grandson. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Emmanuel Bible Church, Huntingdon RR, where she was a Sunday school teacher. Active in child evangelism, she taught Good News Clubs and Five Day Clubs in the elementary schools in Brady Township in Huntingdon County for many years. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the Robert E. Peters Funeral Home, Huntingdon, with Pastor Greg Harvin officiating. Interment will be in the Mountainview Cemetery, Mill Creek. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of the services Friday at the funeral home.

Thelma M. Rutherford
ALLENSVILLE - Thelma M. Rutherford, 76, of 50 Huey St., Allensville, died at 4:54 p.m. Wednesday, July 19, 2000, at Centre Community Hospital, State College. Born July 28, 1923, in Warriors Mark, she was the daughter of the late Jesse and Francis I. (Johnson) Adams. Her husband, William H. Rutherford, whom she married March 25, 1946, died July 16, 2000. Surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Lloyd (Anna Marie) Yoder, Allensville, Mrs. Lloyd (Mary) Grubb, Huntingdon RR1 and Mrs. Thomas (Karen) Kauffman, Huntingdon RR3; sister and brother, Mrs. George (Ann) Smith and Glen W. Adams, both of Chambersburg; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Susan Faith Rutherford on June 17, 1996; a son, Richard Allen Rutherford on May 30, 1948; a granddaughter, Lesley Yoder; brothers, Lawrence Adams, Dean E. Adams, and Calvin C. Adams; and a sister, C. Marie Kupetz. Most of her life, she helped on the family farm in Trough Creek Valley and had also worked at the Arrow Shirt Factory, Huntingdon and at R.S. Vogt, Allensville, retiring in 1986. She was a member of Allensville Presbyterian Church and volunteered at the Allensville Fire Company during festivals. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Allensville Presbyterian Church, with the Rev. Geoffrey Huish and the Rev. Keith Kensinger officiating. Interment will be in Mountain View Cemetery, Mill Creek. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the Donald E. Baggus Funeral Home, 3813 W. Main St., Belleville. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Allensville Presbyterian Church, PO Box 130, Allensville, PA 17002.
