Donnas F. Seiler
MCALISTERVILLE - Donnas F. Seiler, 69, of McAlisterville, died at 1:33 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, in the emergency room of Lewistown Hospital. Born July 10, 1931, in McAlisterville, she was the daughter of the late Gladys E. Dunn. Her husband, William R. Seiler, whom she married Sept. 1, 1951, survives. Also surviving are: children, Barry E. Seiler, Mifflintown and William P. Seiler, McAlisterville; brothers, Ray E. Paige, Lancaster and Richard Paige, Mifflintown; and four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a granddaughter. She graduated from Fayette High School, McAlisterville in 1949. She had been employed as a telephone operator in McAlisterville and later as a seamstress for L. Shellenberger & Sons, McAlisterville. She retired in 1993 after 33 years as a manager for Tupperware Sales. She was a member of Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, McAlisterville, with the Rev. James Park Bricker officiating. Interment will be in the Hillside Cemetery, McAlisterville. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. Saturday at the Ronald C. Sheaffer Funeral Home, 16 Westfall St., McAlisterville, where the family will be present 7-9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be to: the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church, PO Box 15, McAlisterville, PA 17049.

Gladys E. Seiler
LEWISTOWN - Gladys E. Seiler, 79, of 715 East Princeton St., Lewistown, died at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 14, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born March 25, 1921, in Reedsville, she was the daughter of the late William F. and Stella (Worrall) Royer. Her husband, Boyd P. Seiler, died Oct. 16, 1985. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Harold (Judy) Treaster and James W. Seiler, both of Milroy, Mrs. Robert (Beatrice) Goodhart, Bellefonte, Mrs. Dennis (Jane) Yohn, Mrs. Glen (Nancy) Franklin, and David S. Seiler, all of Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Mrs. Ronald (Mary) Henry, Fred H. Royer, James P. Royer, Ronald K. Royer, all of Lewistown, Mrs. Jack (Dorothy) Bradley, Mrs. Harold (Eleanore) Smith, Edward L. Royer, Robert L. Royer, Marlin E. Royer, Glenn P. Royer, all of Burnham, Helen E. Strange, Freemont, Calif., Mildred I. Majestic, Berwick, William F. Royer, Disputanta, Va., and Charles L. Royer, Belleville; 19 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Boyd P. Seiler Jr. in 1945; a sister, Betty Keiser in June 2000; and a brother John Bender in 1982. She was a graduate of Reedsville High School. She was a housewife and served with Meals-on-Wheels for 17 years. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Milroy CMA Church, 46 Elm St., Milroy, with the Rev. Edward P. Fleming Sr. officiating. Interment will be in Church Hill Cemetery, Reedsville. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday at the Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville. Dorothea Marie Serotkin
MIFFLINTOWN - Dorothea Marie Serotkin, 93, of Mifflintown RR4, died at 8:10 p.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2000, at the Brookline Manor and Retirement Village, Mifflintown RR1. Born April 1, 1907, in Harrisburg, she was the daughter of the late David B. and Maude (Reichley) Moist. Her husband, Harry N. Serotkin, died Oct. 6, 1974. Surviving are: children, Nancy G. Serotkin, Falmouth, Mass., Nora Serotkin, Bellefonte, and Jonathan Serotkin, Port Huron, Mich.; sister, Evelyn Robinson, Mifflintown; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by a son, David M. Serotkin and a sister, Margaret L. Moist. She was a 1925 graduate of Harrisburg Central High School and a 1929 graduate of Wilson College, Chambersburg, where she received an AB in English. After college, she worked for the Board of National Missions, New York City from 1931-1937 and then she was the music director of the Kingsley House, Pittsburgh. She later became the director of services at a day care center in Chester. She was an accomplished musician and throughout her life, she was involved in various professional functions as a freelance piano accompanist. She was a member of the Westminster United Presbyterian Church, Mifflintown. Her hobbies included playing bridge, cooking, gardening, reading, local history, music and genealogy. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Brown Funeral Home, 100 Bridge St., Mifflintown, with the Rev. Walter Williams officiating. Interment will be in Union Memorial Gardens, Mifflintown RR4. Friends may call from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Saturday at the funeral home.

William A. Setzler Sr.
MCVEYTOWN - William A. Setzler Sr., 73, of 8088 US Highway 522 South, McVeytown, died at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born Dec. 19, 1926, in Mattawana, he was a son of the late Charles and Nina (Foster) Setzler. His wife, Lois E. (Walter) Setzler, died July 18, 1995. Surviving are: children, Jane Setzler and Susan Spickler, both of McVeytown, Mrs. Randy (Debra) Reeder and Larry Setzler, both of Lewistown, Barry Setzler, McClure, Cathy Setzler and Dean Setzler Sr., both of Burnham; brothers and sisters, Floyd Setzler, Williamsport, Md., Lloyd Setzler, Ida Heimbach, Alice Shawver and Arlene Black, all of Lewistown, George M. Meluis, McVeytown, and Merrill Setzler, Hummelstown; 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, William Setzler Jr.; brothers, Paul, Glenn, Clair and Clarence Setzler; sisters, Florence Grassmyer and Ruth Kline; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Early in life, he worked for FMC Corporation for 22 years. He was an independent truck driver for many years and retired from Joe Krentzman & Sons in 1989. In early life, he attended Strodes Mills Baptist Church. He was a member of the Juniata Valley Woodcarver's Association, specializing in bird carvings. He was also a member of the United Textile Workers of America, the West Granville Fire Company, and the West Granville Auxiliary Police. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. John S. Walters and the Rev. Darvin Donahey officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park, where military graveside services will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice: The Bridge, 1126 W. Fourth St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to the Mifflin-Juniata American Cancer Society, 26 N. Brown St., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Ruth Elaine Druivenga Sewell
SAC CITY, Iowa - Ruth Elaine Druivenga Sewell, 71, of Sac City, Iowa, died Saturday, June 10, 2000, at Mercy Hospital, Sioux City, Iowa. Born Jan. 25, 1929, in Vail, Iowa, she was a daughter of the late Edwin J. and Katherine (Brinker) Druivenga. Her husband, Calvin Sewell, whom she married April 12, 1958, in Arthur, Iowa, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. William (Julie) Keller, Blairsburg, Iowa, Mrs. Todd (Melissa) Folk, Burnham, Thomas Sewell, Rockford, Ill., Christopher Sewell, Guyton, Ga., Tedd Sewell, Garden City, Kan., Daniel Sewell, Florissant, Mo., and Andrew Sewell, Sac City, Iowa; sisters and brother, Kathryn Peterson, Edgerton, Wis., Helen Hammerstrom, Arthur, Iowa, and Fred Druivenga, Carroll, Iowa; and 10 grandchildren. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Marion Druivenga, John Druivenga, Minnie Hough and Marie Kuehl. She attended country school and graduated high school. She worked in a factory in Minneapolis, in the Arthur Locker, and as a housekeeper at the Loring Hospital for 20 years, retiring in 1999. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, in Newell, Iowa. She enjoyed crocheting, sewing, reading and doing crafts. Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Bethel Baptist Church in Newell, Iowa, with Pastor James Bartsch officiating. Interment will be in Oakland Cemetery, Sac City, Iowa. Farber & Otteman Funeral Home, Sac City, Iowa, is in charge of arrangements.

Thelma I. Shade
LEWISTOWN - Thelma I. Shade, 63, of 141 S. Pine Road, Lewistown, died at 3:23 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Lewistown Hospital. Born May 2, 1937, in Oliver Township, she was the daughter of the late Howard and Lorma E. (Fry) Harshbarger. Her husband, John A. Shade, died April 26, 1999. Surviving are: children, Mrs. David (Sharon) Beaver, Mount Union, Mrs. Henry (Rebecca) Ritter, Rachel Harkleroad, and Joe Shade, all of Lewistown; sisters and brother, Mrs. James (Madeline) Moist, Tyrone, Florence Boozel, Newton Hamilton, Mrs. Dale (Hannah June) Rhodes, Lewistown, Mrs. Fred (Marcella) Colyer, McAlisterville, and John J. Harshbarger, Riverdale, Calif.; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a sister, Audrey Jean Grassmyer and a brother, Percy E. Harshbarger. She was a member of the Vira Methodist Church and the Women of the Moose Lodge 143, Lewistown. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Barr Funeral Home, 120 Logan St., Lewistown, with the Rev. John Walters officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Shirley S. Shaffer
DAUPHIN - Shirley S. Shaffer, 74, of Dauphin, formerly of Lewistown, died Sunday, Nov. 26, 2000, at the Carolyn Slane Residence of Hospice of Central Pennsylvania. Born Aug. 23, 1926, in Lewistown, she was a daughter of the late Roy S. and Mary Ellen Laticia (Aurand) Shimp. Her husband, W. Dean Shaffer, preceded her in death. Surviving are: a son, Stephen S. Shaffer, Enola; three sisters, Irene S. Bailey, Dorthea Elizabeth Fleming and Mildred L. Nicholson, all of Lewistown; and one step-granddaughter. She was retired from Bell Telephone. She was a member of Hope United Presbyterian Church, Dauphin and the Bell Telephone Pioneers of America. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Lind Memorial Methodist Cemetery, Lewistown. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Zimmerman-Auer Funeral Home, 4100 Jonestown Road, Harrisburg. Memorial contributions may be made to Hope United Presbyterian Church, 931 Red Hill Road, Dauphin, PA 17018.

Elizabeth J. Shank
MILROY - Elizabeth J. Shank, 81, of Ohesson Manor, Lewistown, formerly of Milroy, died at 12:35 a.m. Friday, Dec. 8, 2000 at Ohesson Manor, Lewistown. Born July 10, 1919, in Eden Hill, Huntingdon County, she was a daughter of the late Edwin and Margaret (Johnston) Stover. Her husband, Glen A. Shank, died Sept. 26, 1998. Surviving are: children, Stephen Shank, Mrs. James R. (Elaine) Neal, Mrs. James (Catherine) Peachey, all of Milroy; a sister, Eleanor Yocum, Alexandria; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons, Lynn N. "Shorty" Shank on Oct. 16, 1983, and Russell E. Shank on Sept. 24, 1984; a sister, Mary Catherine Showalter; and a brother, John Stover. She was a 1936 graduate of Warriors Mark High School. She was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church, Siglerville. She enjoyed quilting, sewing and cooking. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Johns Lutheran Church, Siglerville, with Pastor Rosalie N. Smith officiating. Interment will be in Salem Cemetery, Siglerville. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Parkinson's Disease Foundation, 710 W. 168th St., New York, NY 10019.
