Claire R. Aumiller
MILROY - Claire R. Aumiller, 103, a resident of Zendt's Nursing Home, Richfield, formerly of South Main Street, Milroy, died at 3:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at the nursing home. Born March 19, 1897, in Milroy RR, she was the daughter of the late James R. and Nancy May (Treaster) Ramsey. Her husband, Ray C. Aumiller Sr., died in 1965. Surviving are: children, Mrs. John (Mary Jane) Romig and Arthur A. Aumiller, both of Milroy; 23 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by children, Ruby Fluke, Gladys Henry, Ray C. Aumiller Jr., Lynnwood Aumiller, and Glenn R. Aumiller; brothers and sisters, Maude Brown, Forrest Ramsey, Mary Close, Janet Walters, Margaret Hock, and Nellie Miller; and two grandchildren. She was a member of White Memorial United Church of Christ, Milroy. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the White Memorial United Church of Christ, Milroy, with the Rev. James E. Hughes officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of the service Wednesday at the church. Family will provide all flowers, but memorial contributions may be made to: White Memorial United Church of Christ, 68 S. Main St., Milroy, PA 17063. Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, is in charge of arrangements.

E. Elizabeth 'Liz' Aumiller
MILROY - E. Elizabeth "Liz" Aumiller, 63, of 232 Pleasant Lane, Milroy, died of Lou Gehrig's disease, at 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at her residence. Born Oct. 4, 1937, in Belleville, she was the daughter of the late George W. and Enid E. (Detweiler) Henry. Her husband, Leon L. Aumiller, whom she married Oct. 2, 1955, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Joseph L. Aumiller, Bethesda, Md.; brothers and sisters, Ruth Ann Thompson, New Holland, Mrs. Marvin (Mary) Steinhaver, Albert Lea, Minn., and George D. Henry, Wittmund, Germany; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas G. Aumiller on Nov. 4, 1990. She worked as a secretary for Aumiller's Sales and Service, Robert S. Palm-contractor, and the Mifflin/Juniata Special Needs Center. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Milroy. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St. Lewistown, with the Rev. Rosalie N. Smith officiating. Interment will be in the Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home. Elda B. Aumiller
BEAVERTOWN - Elda B. Aumiller, 73, of Beavertown, died at 11:35 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, 2000, at her home. Born June 21, 1927, in Beavertown, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Stella Idora (Lose) McClellan. Her husband, John F. Aumiller, whom she married June 30, 1946, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Clay (Peggy L.) Henry, Beaver Springs and Mrs. John P. (Susan K.) White III, Mechanicsburg, Michael L. Aumiller, Etters and John C. Aumiller, Sunbury RR3; a sister, Goldie Bratsch, Cleveland, Ohio; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters and brother, Albertine E. King, Stella Hetrick, and Margaret Aigler, Mertie McClellan, Florence "Ponnie" Kelly, and John Clarence McClellan. She worked at the former Beavertown Weaving Mill and Saylor's Shirt Factory as well as cleaning for private homes in the area. She was a former member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Beavertown. She was a past president of the Snyder County Democratic Women's Club, served as clerk for many years on the Beavertown Borough election board, and was instrumental in fund-raising for the Arthritis Foundation. She enjoyed crafts, sewing and crocheting. Services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday at Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown, with the Rev. David Meckley officiating. Interment will be in the Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown. Family will receive friends from 9 a.m. until the time of services Saturday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: Evangelical Community Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.

John F. Aumiller
BEAVERTOWN - John F. Aumiller, 77, of 511 Chestnut St., Beavertown, died at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, 2000, at his home. Born Nov. 23, 1922, in Beavertown, he was the son of the late Charles E. and Blanche S. (Troxell) Aumiller. His wife, Elda B. (McClellan) Aumiller, whom he married June 30, 1946, died Aug. 23, 2000. Surviving are: children, Mrs. Clay (Peggy L.) Henry, Beaver Springs, Mrs. John (Susan K.) White, Mechanicsburg, Michael L. Aumiller, Etters, and John C. Aumiller, Sunbury RR3; brothers and sisters, Charles Aumiller Jr., Beavertown, James Aumiller, Baltimore, Md., Violet Fetterman, Wilburton, and Aleatha Powell, New Port Ritchy, Fla.; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a 1941 graduate of Middleburg High School. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II from 1942 to 1946. He was a crew chief on a B-26 bomber in the 336th Bomb Group. He operated Aumiller's West End Service Station in Beavertown from 1946 to 1951; operated Aumiller's Garage, Middleburg in 1947; was a delivery driver for Pepsi-Cola; worked for 10 years for C. W. King Trucking, Beavertown; and retired in 1984 after 20 years of driving truck for Ira Middleswarth and Son, Middleburg. He was a member of the New Berlin American Legion Post 957 and the B-26 Marauder Historical Society and also served as a Democratic committee man in Beavertown. He enjoyed gardening, particularly raising roses. He was also a fisherman. He was of the United Church of Christ faith. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the Hummel Funeral Home, 574 Hill St., Middleburg, with the Rev. David Meckley officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown, where military honors will be given by the New Berlin American Legion. There will be no viewing. Memorial contributions may be made to: Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg, PA 17837.

Clark S. Aurand
LEWISTOWN - Clark S. Aurand, 97, of 20 Clarks Lane, Lewistown, died at 11:20 a.m. Wednesday, June 28, 2000, at his residence. Born Aug. 1, 1902, in Ferguson Valley, Granville Township, he was the son of the late Ralph and Rebecca (Dobson) Aurand. His wife, Jessie Elizabeth (Worley) Aurand, died May 12, 1983. Surviving are: a son, Lynn E. Aurand, Lewistown; a grandson whom he reared, David R. Aurand, Lewistown; a sister, Erma Bortell, Lewistown; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one step-grandchild and two step-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Fenton R. Aurand in 1997 and three brothers, Millard, Forrest, and Glenn Aurand. Early in life, he worked for Logan Iron and Steel and later in machine shop 2 of Standard Steel, Burnham, retiring in 1967 after 35 years of service. He was also a self-employed farmer during his whole lifetime. He was a member of Ellen Chapel United Methodist Church, Lewistown. He was a life member of the Mifflin County Sportsmen's Association, the Lewistown Moose Lodge 143, and the City, Hook, and Ladder Fire Co. He was also a member of the Mifflin County Historical Society, the Lewistown Masonic Lodge 203, the Juniata Forrest Tall Cedars 88, the Lewistown VFW Post 7011, and a 1997 inductee into the Seven Mountains Bowling Association Hall of Fame. Services will be held at 3 p.m. Friday at the Heller- Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with the Rev. J. Faust Hissong officiating. Interment will be in the Aurand Family Cemetery, Lewistown RR. Friends may call from 2 p.m. until the time of the services Friday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Mifflin County 2000, MCIDC Plaza, 6395 State Route 103 North, Lewistown, PA 17044.

Esther A. Aurand
BEAVERTOWN - Esther A. Aurand, 88, of Beavertown, died at 4:15 a.m. Tuesday, June 20, 2000 at Penn Lutheran Village where she had been a resident since Dec. 28, 1999. Born April 5, 1912 in Beaver Township, Snyder County, she was a daughter of the late John W. and Jennie M. (Bingman) Hassinger and the late Ellen Coleman, her step-mother. Her husband Glace K. Aurand, whom she married Aug. 5, 1934, preceded her in death on Feb. 3, 1991. Surviving are sons, Jerre I. Aurand, Beavertown and Darwin L. Aurand, Harrisburg, three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sons, Allen A. Aurand and Hubert H. Aurand, a great-grandson, Joel, a sister, Florence Hetrick, and a brother, Randall Hassinger. She graduated from the former Beaver Vocational School's Class of 1930. She assisted her husband in running the Glace k. Aurand Funeral Home between 1936 and 1973 when they retired. She enjoyed making crafts, sewing, bird watching and flowers. She was a member of Beaver Lutheran Church, Beaver Springs RR1. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at the Beavertown Chapel of Aurand Funeral Homes, 316 W. Market St., Beavertown with the Rev. Stanley D. Reep officiating. Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Beavertown. Friends may call 4-9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home with the family receiving friends 7-9 p.m.

Ruth P. Baer
MOUNT UNION - Ruth P. Baer, 90, formerly of Mount Union, and most recently having resided with her son R. Max Baer at HCR 61, Shade Gap, died at 5:08 p.m. Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital, Huntingdon. Born Dec. 23, 1909, in Latrobe, she was the daughter of the late Oren and Effie (Kelly) Snyder. Her husband, Harvey Nelson "Hen" Barr, whom she married April 30, 1930, in Hagerstown, Md., died July 3, 1954. Surviving are: children, Nelson F. Baer, McVeytown RR1, R. Max Baer, HC 61, Shade Gap., and Diane L. Anders, Lewistown; 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family having been preceded in death by brothers and sisters, Wilbert Snyder, Ralph Snyder, Howard Snyder, Lawrence Snyder, Lillian Reck, Mary Goodhart, and Grace Carr; and one granddaughter. For several years she was employed by the L. Grief Mfg. Co., Mount Union and was appointed tax collector for Shirley Township, Huntington County, following her husband's death in 1954, and subsequently won election to that position for 25 years. She was a member of the Allenport United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School in the primary department, played piano for the Sunday School and Women's Society, and was a charter member since 1968 of the Women's Society. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, at the Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, the Rev. Rich Morris and the Rev. Jeff Winstead officiating. Interment will be in the Mount Union Cemetery. Friends may call from 7-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Marlin W. Bailey
GRANVILLE - Marlin W. Bailey, 82, of 147 Millers Lane, Granville, died at 11 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2000, at his residence. Born Sept. 7, 1917, in Burnham, he was the son of the late Russell F. and Carrie E. (Peters) Bailey. His wife, Lucille M. (Smithers) Bailey, survives. Also surviving are: daughters, Mrs. Gerald (Beverley) Clelan, 123 Sunset Road, Lewistown and Mrs. Paul (Melanie) Wagner, 139 Millers Lane, Granville; a brother, Russell C. Bailey, 2709 US Highway 522N, Lewistown; five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters. He was United States Army veteran of World War II, having served in the Pacific Theater. He was a salesman and manager for the Coca Cola Company, Lewistown for 43 years, retiring in 1982. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lewistown, United Commercial Travelers, and VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. Private graveside services will be held at the convenience of the family at Lind Memorial Cemetery, Lewistown, where full military honors will be conducted by VFW Post 7011, Lewistown. There will be no public viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third St., Lewistown, PA 17044. Hoenstine Funeral Home Inc, 75 Logan St., Lewistown, is in charge of arrangements.
