Ellis Robert Zook
ANNISTON, Ala. - Ellis Robert Zook, 72, of Anniston, Ala, formerly of Belleville, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday, May 22, 2000, at Regional Medical Center in Anniston, Ala. Born Sept. 1, 1927 in Belleville, he was a son of the late Joseph B. and Martha (King) Zook. Surviving are: a daughter and son, Mrs. Chris (Debbie) Bobo, Gadsden, Ala. and James Zook, Piedmont, Ala.; brothers and sisters, Joseph A. Zook, Belleville, Dorothy Yoder, Lewistown and Irene Yoder, Whitehall; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by brothers, Melvin S. and Ivan J. Zook. He served 23 years in the United States Army, having served in World War II, the Korean Conflict and the Vietnam War. He owned and operated an appliance company in Anniston, Ala., and he had been an instructor in the Chemical School at Fort McClellan, Ala. for 10 years. He was a member of the VFW since 1946, having served one term as district commander and four terms as post commander. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home in Anniston, Ala with the Rev. Bob Pope officiating. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at Chapel Hill Funeral Home. Local information was provided by Donald E. Baggus Funeral home, Belleville.

Kenneth J. 'Stub' Zook
MILROY - Kenneth J. "Stub" Zook, 57, of 34 Randall Drive, Milroy, died at 9:50 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000 at Lewistown Hospital. Born June 5, 1943 in Milford, Dela., he was a son of the late Ivan J. and Viola M. (Meredith) Zook. His wife Carol S. (Riden) Zook, whom he married April 11, 1964 survives, residing at 34 Randall Drive, Milroy. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. Jeff (Timi) Narehood and Mrs. Donny (Toni) Attick, both of Reedsville and Mrs. Craig (Kelli) Johnson, Mrs. Doug (Nikki) Kahley, and Brandi Zook, all of Milroy; brothers and sisters, Robert I. Zook and James E. Zook, both of Belleville, Mrs. John (JoAnne) Smith, McVeytown and Mrs. James L. (Barbara) Haines, Spring Mills; and eight grandchildren. He worked as a supervisor at the welding and press and shear departments at New Holland in Belleville from 1965 until his retirement in July of 1998. He was a 1961 graduate of Kishacoquillas High School. He was a Methodist by faith. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Church Hill United Methodist Church, 199 Woodland Circle, Reedsville, with the Rev. Richard J. Bender and the Rev. Douglas D. Sabin officiating. Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy at the convenience of the family. There will be no viewing. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Church Hill United Methodist Church, PO Box 72, Reedsville, PA 17084, or to Kish Valley Grace Brethren Church, 99 Taylor Drive, Reedsville, PA 17084, or to New Lancaster Valley Evangelical Methodist Church, PO Box 87, Penns Creek, PA 17862.

Asparuk 'Butch' Abrashoff
MOUNT UNION - Asparuk "Butch" Abrashoff, 88, of 216 E. Shirley St., Mount Union, died Saturday morning, June 16, 2001, at the Lewistown Hospital. He had been in failing health for several years. Born Sept. 7, 1912, in Steelton, he was the son of the late Tasse and Mary (Behofcist) Abrashoff. His first wife, Ann E. Abrashoff, died Nov. 20, 1975. His second wife, Lena (Parsons) Price Abrashoff, survives. Also surviving are: stepchildren, Lolita Secrest, Lewistown and Lawrence Wilson, Mount Union RR2; brother and sisters, Donald Abrashoff, Altoona, Nada Rinker, Prudence Island, RI, and Jean Parker, New York City, NY; four step-grandchildren, six step-great-grandchildren and six step-great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two stepchildren: Harry Wilson and Louise Daughenbaugh; one step-grandchild; and three brothers and one sister. He was a US Army veteran of World War II, having served as a Sergeant with Company F, 157th Infantry Regiment, 45th Division. He received the EAME Thr service Medal with two bronze stars and the Purple Heart, while in the European Theatre. He was co-owner and operator of the Mount Union Beverage, from which he retired in 1979, with 43 years of service. He was of the Orthodox faith. He was a life member and past president of the Simpson-Hunt Post 107, American Legion in Mount Union and a life member of the Blue Juniata VFW Post 5754, Mount Union. He was an avid sports fan. There will be no viewing or services. Burial will be in the Garden of Honors in the Mount Union Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to: the Ronald McDonald House, North Academy Avenue, Danville, PA. The Robert D. Heath Funeral Home, Mount Union, is in charge of arrangements.

Dorothy M. Adair
LEWISTOWN - Dorothy M. Adair, 83, a resident of Ohesson Manor, Lewistown, formerly of 40 Terrace Boulevard, Lewistown, died at 3:45 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2001, at the nursing home. Born July 13, 1918, in Lewistown, she was the daughter of the late Harry F. and Mae I. (Riden) Ganoe. Her husband, Donald E. Adair Sr, died May 2, 1982. Surviving are: a son, Donald E. Adair Jr., 4284 SR 103 North, Lewistown; sisters and brother, Mrs. George (Marion) Collins, Lewistown, Mrs. Richard (Joyce) Feathers, Harrisburg, and Harry L. Ganoe, Felton, DE; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one sister. She was an office employee at the Bon-Ton Department Store for 23 years, retiring in 1987. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Silver Star Sunday School Class and a Sunday school teacher for many years. She was also a member of the Fort Granville Grange. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday at Heller-Hoenstine Woodlawn Funeral Home, 200 N. Main St., Lewistown, with Karen McCachren, director of Caring Ministries, officiating. Interment will be in Juniata Memorial Park. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. today at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: First United Methodist Church, 200 E. Third St., Lewistown, PA 17044 or to Ohesson Manor, 276 Green Ave., Lewistown, PA 17044.

Glen W. Adams
CHAMBERSBURG - Glen W. Adams, 70, of 657 Forest Road, Chambersburg, died at 2:46 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2001, at Chambersburg Hospital. Born March 25, 1930, in Warriors Mark, he was the son of the late Jessie and Frances I. (Johnson) Adams. His wife, Marjorie I. (Gillam) Adams, whom he married May 30, 1953, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. George (Jo Ann) Adams Wisor, Jeffrey S. Adams, and Kelly B. Adams, all of Chambersburg; a sister, Mrs. George (Ann) Smith, Chambersburg; five grandchildren and three great-granddaughters. He was preceded in death by three brothers and two sisters. He was graduate of Allensville High School. In 1974, he founded Chambersburg Waster Paper Co., Chambersburg and currently owned and operated the CWP Discount Outlet, Chambersburg, which he founded April 6, 1999. Early in his life he had farmed, was employed by New Holland Machine Company in Belleville, as a driver by Daily Express in Carlisle, and by the former Horn's Motor Express, Chambersburg. He was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church, Chambersburg. He was also a member of the General James Chambers Lodge 801 F&AM, Chambersburg; the Tall Cedars of Lebanon Valley Forest 145, Shippensburg; the Zembo Temple, Harrisburg; a 32nd degree mason with the Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Harrisburg; the BPO Elks Lodge 600, Chambersburg; the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 842, Chambersburg; the Chambersburg Club; the Burt J. Asper Post 46 American Legion, Chambersburg; member and Past Director of the Pennsylvania Motor Truck Association; the Family Motor Coach Association; and a former member of the Civitan Club, Chambersburg. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg, with the Rev. Jimmie Knox officiating. Interment will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, where a Masonic service will be conducted at 8 p.m. by members of the General James Chambers Lodge 801, Chambersburg. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: the Dialysis Services of Pennsylvania-Chambersburg, 765 Fifth Ave., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Richard D. 'Spig' Adams
MATTAWANA - Richard D. "Spig" Adams, 67, of Adam's Lane, Mattawana, died at 4:50 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 31, 2000, at the Lewistown Hospital. Born Aug. 19, 1933, in Bratton Township, he was the son of the late Chester D. and Carrie E. (Moist) Adams. His wife, Shirley Jean (Kauffman) Adams, whom he married Jan. 13, 1954, survives. Also surviving are: a son, Richard L. Adams, Mattawana; a daughter, Mrs. Mark (Kimbra S.) Morrison, Lewistown; brothers and sisters, Florence Weaver and Mrs. Lawrence (Susie) College, both of Lewistown, Myles Adams and Betsy Fisher, both of Mattawana, Melvin Adams, McVeytown, and Grace Mizerek, Covina, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Steven Paul Adams; a daughter, Susan Jean Adams; four sisters, Dora Zeiders, Blanche Adams, Mary Settle, Annie Adams; and a brother, Homer Adams. He was employed in the Rolling Steel Department of Overhead Door Inc., Lewistown, for 23 years. He was Protestant by faith. He enjoyed gardening and spending time with his family. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Harshbarger Funeral Home, 3 South Market St., McVeytown, with the Rev. Jerry L. Wise officiating. Interment will be in the Hertzler Cemetery, Mattawana. Family will receive friends from 1 p.m. until the time of the services Wednesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to: the March of Dimes, Central PA Chapter, 160 S. Progress Ave., Suites 2A and 1C, Harrisburg, PA 17109-4624 or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 6931 Arlington Road, Bethesda, MD 20814.

George R. Aitkin
LEWISTOWN - George R. Aitkin, 80, formerly of Milroy, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 28, 2001, at Lewistown Hospital. Born June 4, 1921, in Milroy, he was the son of the late Ralph Russler and Rhoda Adams (Naginey) Aitkin. Surviving are: a brother, Frank N. Aitkin, Milroy, and a sister, Mrs. Patrick (Helen) Rametti, Peterstown, WV. He was a farmer. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of WW II. He was a member and former superintendent of White Memorial Congregational Church, Siglerville. His funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, at Bohn Funeral Home, Reedsville, with the Rev. Robert C. Zorn officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Milroy. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service Monday, at the funeral home.

Barbara A. Alcala
ELIZABETHTOWN - Barbara A. Alcala, 59, of 982 Hershey Road, Elizabethtown, died Friday, May 25, 2001, at her residence. Born in Lewistown, she was the daughter of Sarah (Hughes) Earnest of Barrville and the late Harvey Earnest. Her husband of 39 years, David M. Alcala Sr., Elizabethtown, survives. Also surviving are: children, Mrs. John (Victoria) Risenbatt, Lebanon, Tracey Alcala, Campbellstown, Mrs. Lloyd (Carol) Fake, Annville, David M. Alcala Jr., Palmyra, and Christopher Alcala, Quentin; brother and sister, John Earnest, Lewistown and Mrs. Richard (Sheila) Finegan, Palmyra; and six grandchildren. She worked as an assembler for AMP Inc., Harrisburg. She was a member of the Palmyra Church of God. She enjoyed reading, puzzle books, and camping. She was also an avid Elvis Presley fan and collected Elvis memorabilia as well as ceramic dolls. Services will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Palmyra Assembly of God Church, 1384 Park Drive, Palmyra. Interment will be in the Colebrook Lutheran Church Cemetery, Colebrook. Friends may call 6:30 p.m. until the time of the service Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to: Pinnacle Health Hospice, 3705 Elmwood Drive, Harrisburg, PA 17110 or to The American Cancer Society, 314 Good Drive, Lancaster, PA 17603. The Frank S. Miller Funeral Home Inc., 130 N. Market St., Elizabethtown, is in charge of arrangements.
