Martha M. Rheppard

Martha M. Rheppard, 85, of 253 Plum Creek Road, Sunbury, passed away Friday, November 11, 2011 at the Sunbury Hospital emergency room.

Born August 7, 1926 in Middleburg, she was a daughter of the late William and Marion (Long) Shiffer. On April 26, 1949, she marriage Maurice A. "Pete" Rheppard, who preceded her in death in 2000.

In her youth Martha attended a round school near Mifflinburg. During the 1970's she was employed by the former Milton Shoe factory.

Surviving are nine children, Bonnie Fogleman and Carol Woody, both of Milton, Fred Klinger of Northumberland, Maurice "Pete" Rheppard, Jr. and Sally Zimmerman, both of Sunbury, Leana Leitzel of New Columbia, David Rheppard of Arkansas, Martha Reese of Danville, and Jane Horne of North Carolina; two sisters, Marion Lynn of Milton and Shirley Shiffer of West Milton; 20 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Charles Rheppard.

In keeping with her wishes there will be no services.

Arrangements are being handled by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, S. 2nd & St. Louis streets, Lewisburg.

Helen S. Moore

Helen S. Moore, 85, of Mexico Road, Milton, entered into eternal rest on the evening of November 8, 2011 at her home in Milton.

She was born February 7, 1926 in West Milton, a daughter of the late Merril and Mable (Clark) Walter. She marriage Doyle Moore on June 12, 1948 and remained truly devoted to him during their 62 years of marriage. Doyle preceded Helen in death on March 3, 2011.

Helen was a part of the “Greatest Generation” growing up during the great depression and living through the difficult years of World War II. When the war ended, she dated, fell in love and eventually marriage Doyle. Helen enjoyed her many years of retirement following her employment at Bucknell University where she worked primarily in the English department.

Helen’s greatest enjoyment in life was being with her husband, Doyle. They were truly dedicated to each other and their love was hard to match. Together they made plans to visit each and every state. During their long and happy marriage they were able to realize their dream, visiting all fifty states as well as traveling abroad. Every time they left home they would always hug and kiss each other, telling each other “I love you”. When Doyle was stricken with Alzheimer’s disease, Helen remained by his side to his last day. During the last couple months of Helen’s life, her family, friends and Evangelical Hospice took great care of her so that she could die in peace at her home.

Helen is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Larry E. Moore of Linglestown, and Gary T. and Harriet T. Moore of Milton; three grandchildren, Shawn Moore of Milton, and Steph Murray and Jeremy Moore both of Montandon; honorary grandson, Jacob Rocktashel of Milton; one sister, Thelma Murphy of Akron, OH; and three great grandchildren, Riley, Addison, and Tyler Murray all of Montandon.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Phylis Johnston, Miriam Reed and Loretta Brown; and one daughter-in-law, Ruth Moore.

Friends will be received from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, November 14, 2011 at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main Street, Watsontown where a memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Officiating will be Rev. Ricky A. Phillips, Evangelical Hospice chaplain. Burial will follow in Lewisburg Cemetery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive, Lewisburg PA 17837.

Susan Marie Markle

Susan Marie Markle, 46, of 122 Center St, Milton, died Sunday, November 6, 2011, at Geisinger Medical Center.

Born February 10, 1965 in Lewisburg, PA, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Pearl (Delcamp) Umstead. She and her husband of 16 years Jeff Markle, were marriage June 10, 1995.

Susan was a 1983 graduate of Warrior Run High School. She worked in childcare for the last 15 years at Concerned Citizens for Child Care, Sunbury.

She was a member of Watsontown United Methodist Church.

Susan was deeply devoted to helping children. She served as a member, leader and mentor with the Girl Scouts for the past 40 years. Susan also served as a Sunday School superintendent for her church. She loved camping, scrapbooking and traveling.

Surviving in addition to her husband are one son, John Markle of McEwensville; one daughter, Kenetha Markle of McEwensville; three brothers and one sister-in-law, William Rowe of Spokane, WA, Duane Rowe of Mifflinburg, and Steve and Stacey Rowe of Lewisburg; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Judy and Ron Simpson of Tyler, TX, Yvette and Ben King of Vancouver, WA, and Theresa and Mike Ewark of Mifflinburg; one brother-in-law and sister-in-law, John and Polly McWilliams of State College; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received from 4 to 7 p.m. Thursday, November 10, at Watsontown United Methodist Church, 1319 Eighth Street Drive, Watsontown, where the funeral will be held at 7 p.m. Officiating will be her pastor, Rev. Doug Eberly.

Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family in Green Lawn Memorial Park, Montgomery.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to either the Girl Scouts in the Heart of Pennsylvania, 350 Hale Ave, Harrisburg, PA 17104 or the Watsontown United Methodist Church, 1319 Eighth Street Drive, Watsontown, PA 17777.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.

Bonnie K. Slagenweit

Bonnie K. Slagenweit, 56, of Watsontown, died Thursday, November 3, 2011, at her home after an extended illness.

Born January 20, 1955 in Roaring Spring, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harry R. Miller and Virginia L. (Clark) Miller, who survives. She and her husband of 36 years Mark E. Slagenweit Jr., were marriage March 29, 1975.

Bonnie was a 1972 graduate of God's Bible School in Cincinnati, OH. She worked in Montoursville for the United States Postal Service as a rural mail carrier for the past 16 years.

She was a member of God's Missionary Church, New Columbia.

Bonnie was best known for being a friend and servant to all. She was forever putting others before herself by cooking for them and helping out in any way possible. Bonnie also enjoyed gardening, flowers and most of all, her grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband and mother are two daughters and sons-in-law, Marianne and Philip Brown of Cincinnati, OH and Jennifer and Justin Harris of Palm Harbor, FL; two sons and daughters-in-law, David and April Slagenweit of Watsontown and Jonathan and Tonya Slagenweit of Hobe Sound, FL; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, H. Roger and Maggie Miller of Phoenix, AZ, Steve Miller of Tulsa, OK, Jeff and Elizabeth Miller of Port Matilda, and Dave and Miriam Miller of Milton; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Carol and John Jones and Faye and Tommy Parsons all of Hobe Sound, FL, and MaryLou and Mel Modzel of Imler; seven grandsons and one granddaughter.

In addition to her father, she was predeceased by a sister in infancy, Ruth Miller.

Friends will be received from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, November 7, at God's Missionary Church, 852 Ridge Rd., New Columbia, and again from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday, November 9, at Martinsburg Brethren In Christ Church, 334 Son Rise Dr. & Cross Cove Rd., Martinsburg, where the funeral will be held Thursday, November 10, at 11 a.m. Officiating will be her pastor, Matthew Ellison.

Burial will follow in Dry Hill Cemetery, Woodbury Twp.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to God's Missionary Church, PO Box 97, White Deer, PA 17887.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.
