Virginia Ethel Raup

Virginia Ethel Raup, 96, formerly of Watsontown, died Thursday, December 8, 2011 at RiverWoods in Lewisburg.

Born February 23, 1915, she was a daughter of the late John and Kathrine (Orr) Raup.

Virginia was a 1933 graduate of Watsontown High School where she was president of her class. She attended Danville State Hospital School of Nursing, graduating in 1936. Virginia served as a nurse on the Blanche F. Sigman hospital ship in the South Pacific during World War II. Following the war she worked in Ft. Howard Hospital and Ft. Holabird Hospital, MD.

She was a member for over 50 years at the Watsontown United Methodist Church. She also was a member of the Clyde F. Mowrer American Legion Post 323, Watsontown. Virginia was involved with the Watsontown high school alumni association. She was truly devoted to her family, whom she loved very much.

Surviving are numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Pauline Hoffman.

A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, December 11 at the Watsontown Cemetery. Officiating will be her pastor, Rev. Doug Eberly.

The family will provide the flowers and suggests memorial contributions be made to Evangelical Hospice, 1 Hospital Drive Lewisburg, PA 17837.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.

Vivian M. Raup

Vivian M. Raup, 83, of Montandon, passed away, Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at her home.

Born November 15, 1928 in Lewisburg, she was a daughter of the late Arthur and Carrie (Renn) Newman. On May 29, 1947, she marriage Melvin L. Raup, who survives. Together they celebrated 64 years of marriage.

Vivian was a member of the Montandon Baptist Church where she helped with numerous church activities.

Before her marriage to Melvin, she worked at the former Chair Factory in Lewisburg. Vivian was very family oriented and loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Doug Mays of Upper Marlboro, MD and Nancy and Edward Straub of Sunbury; one sister, Carolyn Touchtone of Lewisburg; six grandchildren, Brian Mays, Angela Barbitta, William Straub, Andrew Straub, Allison Yeager and Michael Billhime; nine great-grandchildren, Ashley Mays, Gavin Barbitta, Shyanne Mays, Aaron Taylor, Chris Yeager, Christopher Straub, Jacob Yeager, Noah Yeager and Makyza Straub.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by four brothers, Bob, Don, Howard and Arthur (Bucky) Newman.

Friends will be received from 11 to 1 p.m. Saturday, December 31, at Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, South Second and St. Louis Streets, Lewisburg where the funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Officiating will be her minister, Pastor Tom Marker.

Burial will follow in the Montandon Cemetery.

The family welcomes flowers; however, if desired memorial contributions may be made to Montandon Baptist Church, 257 Main Street, Montandon, PA 17850.

Rebecca "Becky" B. Buck

Rebecca "Becky" B. Buck, 59, of 4 Wyndmere Drive, Watsontown, passed away Thursday, January 12, 2012, at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

She was born October 19, 1952 in St. Petersburg, FL, a daughter of the late Ralph and Janie (Herndon) Buddin. On January 11, 2001, she marriage Joel Buck. Together they celebrated 11 years of marriage.

A 1970 graduate of Northeast High School in St. Petersburg, FL, she attended the University of South Florida where she graduated in 1974 with a degree in Sociology. Becky worked as a claims representative for over 20 years with the Social Security Administration, Selinsgrove.

Becky was lively and energetic and lived life to the fullest. She loved her family and friends very much. Becky could always be found outdoors where she enjoyed hiking, kayaking, biking and fishing. She was fond of sunflowers as well as art, photography and painting. In addition, she enjoyed music and dancing. Enthusiastic about travelling, Becky travelled everywhere she could, especially tropical climates.

Surviving in addition to her husband are two daughters and sons-in-law, Andrea and Joshua Clark of Laurel, MD and Nicole and Lyndale Chambers of Jacksonville, FL; two stepsons and one stepdaughter-in-law; Brady and Calla Buck formerly from Watsontown and currently of Landisville, NJ and Jake Buck of Cornelius, NC; one sister and brother-in-law, Tricia and Rob Rodocker of St. Petersburg, FL; and five grandchildren, Alexis, Reece and Mackenzie Clark, Nicholas Chambers, and Alexis Buck.

In addition to her parents she was predeceased by a brother, John Buddin.

A celebration of Becky's life will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society, Union County Unit, 57 Reitz Blvd. Suite 102, Lewisburg, PA 17837 or to the American Red Cross SUN Area Chapter, 249 Farley Circle, Lewisburg, PA 17837.

The family is being assisted by Cronrath-Grenoble Funeral Home, 308 Main St., Watsontown.

Carol A. Buckles

Carol A. Buckles, 68, of Watsontown, died Friday, January 6, 2012 at the Muncy Valley Hospital Skilled Nursing Unit.

Born June 28, 1943 in Watsontown, she was a daughter of the late Russel and Betty Jane (Aikey) Rowe. Her husband, Gale F. Buckles, preceded her in death on September 24, 2008.

Carol was a 1961 graduate of Warrior Run High School. She worked for the former Montgomery Mills and JPM, as well as in the Bakery at Weis Markets, Milton.

She was of Lutheran faith.

Carol loved to read and enjoyed camping with her husband.

Surviving are a sister and brother-in-law, Donna and Thomas Bieber of Watsontown; two nephews and their spouses, Christopher and Rebecca Bieber of Watsontown and Jason and Brandi Bieber of Lewisburg; two nieces and their spouses, Jennifer and Joel Satteson of West Milton and Tracy and Dwayne Aunkst of Watsontown; and several great-nieces and nephews.

Services will be held privately and at the convenience of the family.

The family suggests memorial contributions be made to either the American Cancer Society, Union County Unit, 57 Reitz Blvd. Suite 102, Lewisburg, PA 17837 or The Gatehouse, 1100 Grampian Blvd., Williamsport, PA 17701.
