Born Sept. 20, 1938, in Chambersburg, she was the daughter of the late William R. and Henrietta Banks Williams.

She attended Chambersburg High School.

She retired in 1998 from Scotland School for Veteran's Children, Scotland, Pa., as house parent supervisor. She previously had been employed by Hennessey Lubricating of Chambersburg; and at South Mountain Restoration Center, South Mountain, Pa.

She is survived by her husband of 18 years, Christopher P. Maghee; two daughters, Michelle Parks and Sylvia A. Pickens, both of Chesapeake, Va.; two brothers, Newton Tatton Williams and William R. Williams, both of Chambersburg; one granddaughter and a number of nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by one sister and two brothers.

Services will be held Thursday at 11:30 a.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Gregory P. Nelson will officiate. Burial will be in Lebanon Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Fayetteville Volunteer Fire Co., 101 W. Main St., Fayetteville, PA 17222; or to American Cancer Society, 452 E. King St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Howard U. Hershey

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Howard Urban Hershey, 72, of 9438 Eden Drive, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999, at Western Maryland Hospital, Hagerstown.

Born June 22, 1927, in Greencastle, Pa., he was the son of the late Earl Shively and Lucille A. Crout Hershey.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Dorothy Virginia Hill Hershey, in 1963.

He worked at Letterkenny Army Depot; and then for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation as a dispatcher until his retirement. He worked part time at Valley Bank as a security guard.

He was a member of General Chambers Lodge 801; American Legion Post 46; AMVETS Post 224; V.F.W. Post 41, and Marine Corps League, all of Chambersburg.

He is survived by four daughters, Sueann Guyer and Sharon K. Harry, both of Shippensburg, Pa., Karen R. Blaney of Salisbury, N.C., and Tina M. Swope of Needmore, Pa; four sons, Robert Earl Hershey, Steven J. Hershey, and Curtis A. Hershey, all of Greencastle, and Barry K. Hershey of Chambersburg; one sister, Janet Clark of Chambersburg; 17 grandchildren, five stepgrandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Donna Jane Hershey; and a brother, Earl S. Hershey.

Services will be Thursday at 10 a.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 6492 Lincoln Way West, St. Thomas, Pa. The Rev. Dan Porterfield will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home and Thursday at 9 a.m. The funeral home will be open Wednesday from 2 p.m. The General Chambers Lodge 801 will conduct services at 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Dorothy V. Lovell

STATE LINE, Pa. - Dorothy Violet Lovell, 68, of 941 Reid Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at her home.

Born May 15, 1931, in Williamsport, she was the daughter of the late Charles E. and Gladys Bolitho Brandt.

She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Funkstown.

She was a member of Frank L. Carbaugh Post 373 American Legion Auxiliary.

She is survived by her husband, Robert S. Lovell; one daughter, Connie Mae Richards of Palm Harbor, Fla.; one stepson, Mark A. Ludwick of York, Pa.; one sister, Marian Wade of Hagerstown; one brother, C. William Brandt of Hagerstown; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Evelyn Fair and Mildred R. Weller; and two brothers, Robert Brandt and Harold Brandt.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in the chapel at Rest Haven Cemetery, 1601 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown. The Rev. Darrell L. Layman will officiate.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are made by Funeral Director Bob May.

B.J. Roberts Sr.

WAYNESBORO, Pa. - B.J. Roberts Sr., 87, of Country Club Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Aug. 9, 1999, at his home.

Born June 21, 1912, in York, Pa., he was the son of the late Silvia Jeremiah and Marie Elizabeth Leicht Roberts.

He was a graduate of Valley Forge Military Academy, Gettysburg College and attended Dickinson School of Law.

He was employed by General Motors; owned Roberts Chevrolet; and was president of Romala Corp.

He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.

He was a member of United Methodist Church.

He was a member of Robert Burns Lodge; Harrisburg Consistory; Zembo Temple; Waynesboro Shrine; Elk's Club and Eagle's Club Inc.

He is survived by three daughters, Sandra Roberts Fogg of South Dartmouth, Mass., Sydnae Roberts Vanner of Greencastle, Pa., and Susan Lynn Roberts of Richmond, Ky.; two sons, B.J. Roberts Jr. and B. Kim Roberts, both of Waynesboro; two sisters, Carolyn Roberts Herre and Silvia Roberts Herman; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Louvain Roberts Dougherty.

Private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of the Good Shepherd of Lutheran Home Care Services Inc., 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, PA 17201.

Arrangements are by Davis Funeral Home in Smithsburg.

Robert L. Champion

McCONNELLSBURG, Pa. - Robert L. Born Aug. 21, 1931, in Pleasantville, N.J., he was the son of the late Earl Stanley and Pearl Risley Champion.

He retired from IBM in Washington, D.C., after 28 years.

He was of the Presbyterian faith.

He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War.

He is survived by his wife, Janet C. Cline Champion, whom he married in 1956; one son, David L. Champion of Lake Ridge, Va.; one sister, Cora Proper of Belle Glade, Fla.; and two grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers.

Graveside services will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Cline Private Cemetery, Rt. 16, McConnellsburg. The Rev. George Howard will officiate.

There will be no visitation.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the T.R.C. Chambersburg Dialysis, 250 N. 7th St., Chambersburg, PA 17201.
