Eldon T. Shatzer

GREENCASTLE, Pa. - Eldon Thomas "Tom" Shatzer, 59, of 9081 Letzburg Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Sunday, Nov. 29, 1998, at his home.

Born Oct. 21, 1939, in Greencastle, he was the son of Aline O. Wible Shatzer of Quincy, Pa., and the late David Thomas Shatzer.

He retired from Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pa., after 20 years as a systems analyst. He also retired from the U.S. Air Force with the rank of master sergeant, having served more than 20 years with the West Virginia Air National Guard, Martinsburg, W.Va.

He had attended Waynesboro Bible Church and Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greencastle.

He was a member of Frank L. Carbaugh Post 373, American Legion, a social member of Harry D. Zeigler Post 6319, Veterans of Foreign Wars, and a member of Greencastle Sportsman Association.

He was a volunteer driver for Franklin County Veterans Affairs transportation van.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by one son, Gregory T. Shatzer of Greencastle; one stepbrother, Clarence Wible of McConnellsburg, Pa.; and two grandsons, Anthony Edward Uglow of Chambersburg and Andrew Shatzer of Williamson, Pa.

He was preceded in death by his former wife, Sandra S. Shatzer, in 1989; and a stepson, David Andrew Fleagle, in 1980.

At his request, there will be no services. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery in Quincy at the convenience of the family.

A viewing will be held Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Harold M. Zimmerman and Son Funeral Home, 45 S. Carlisle St., Greencastle.

Memorial contributions may be made to Harry D. Zeigler V.F.W. Post 6319, P.O. Box 247, Greencastle PA 17225.

Helen L. Welker

CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. - Helen L. Shatzer Welker, 89, of Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Chambersburg, and formerly of Queen Street, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Saturday, Nov. 28, 1998, at the center.

Born July 5, 1909, in St. Thomas, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Laura Alice Shatzer.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Welker Sr., in 1976.

She was a 1925 graduate of St. Thomas High School.

She was employed by Stanley Co. in Chambersburg for 30 years.

She was a member of St. Thomas United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Linda Carbaugh and Lois Good, both of Chambersburg; one son, James A. Welker Jr. of Carlisle, Ohio; three grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one half-sister and one half-brother.

Services will be Wednesday at 1 p.m. at Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. Robert E. Taylor will officiate. Burial will be in St. Thomas Cemetery.

Visitation will be Wednesday one hour prior to service at the funeral home.

Memorial donations may be made to Falling Spring Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 201 Franklin Farm Lane, Chambersburg PA 17201.

Cora A. Mellott

NEEDMORE, Pa. - Cora A. Mellott, 74, of Needmore, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at Fulton County Medical Center.

Born Dec. 31, 1923, in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Charles Randolph and Rosa Ann Robinett Yost.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren, Needmore.

She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Glenn C. Mellott; one son, Randy Mellott of Needmore; two sisters, Pauline Shirey and Betty Grove, both of York, Pa.; one brother, Paul Yost of Berkeley Springs, W.Va.; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one sister, Louise Dalby; and three brothers, Bud Yost, Bob Yost and Johnnie Yost.

Services will be Thursday at 2 p.m. at Pleasant Ridge Church of the Brethren in Needmore. The Rev. Roger Truax will officiate. Burial will be in Pleasant Ridge Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at Kelso-Cornelius Funeral Home, 322 N. 2nd. St., McConnellsburg, Pa., which will be open from 2 p.m.

Shirley J. Buchanan

STATE LINE, Pa. - Shirley J. Stoner Buchanan, 63, of 450 Hykes Road, Cemetery-obituaries?utm_source=partner_genlookups&utm_medium=partner&utm_campaign=genlookups_July21_textlink&tr_ad_group=textlinks&tr_funnel=supersearch" target="_blank">died Monday, Nov. 30, 1998, at Hershey Medical Center, Hershey, Pa.

Born Aug. 28, 1935, in Mount Union, Pa., she was the daughter of the late Clifford C. and Helen A. Snyder Stoner.

She attended Mount Union High School; and received her GED from Waynesboro Area Senior High School.

She was employed early in life at Crubb's Diner in Mount Union. Prior to retiring in October 1997, she was the cashier at Earl's Market, State Line for 22 years.

She was judge of elections at State Line.

She was a member of State Line United Methodist Church, and King's Children Sunday School Class.

She was a member of National AARP; and a charter member of Middleburg-Mason Dixon Historical Society of State Line.

She is survived by her husband, Clyde M. Buchanan, whom she married July 19, 1961; two daughters, Susan R. Witmyer of York, Pa., and Leslie B. Crum of State Line; a son, Scott D. Buchanan of Greencastle; two brothers, Dr. Larry C. Stoner of Syracuse, N.Y., and Terry A. Stoner of Altoona, Pa.; five grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; and two nephews.

She was preceded in death by a son, Eric L. Stoner; and a granddaughter, Emily R. Witmyer.

Services will be Friday at 1 p.m. at Miller-Grove Funeral Home, 521 S. Washington St., Greencastle, Pa. Pastor Harold Hollister will officiate. Burial will be in Parklawn Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg, Pa.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.

Raymond L. Cummings

MARION, Pa. - Raymond L. Born Feb. 8, 1950, in Walnut Bottom, Pa., he was the son of the late Raymond L. and Dorcas Unger Cummings Sr.

He was a 1978 graduate of machinist school at Franklin County Vo-Tech.

He was a car salesman for Lay's Auto Sales, in Chambersburg, Pa. He formerly worked as a machinist for Landis Tool, Waynesboro, Pa.

A veteran of the Vietnam War, he served in the 101st Airborne Unit of the U.S. Army.

He is survived by his wife, Marsha A. Herr Cummings, whom he married Feb. 21, 1974; a daughter, Audra Caldwell of Chambersburg; a son, Shaun Cummings of Chambersburg; seven sisters, Shelby Nettinger, Connie Hanley, Barbara Coons and Cindy Ferry, all of Shippensburg, Pa., Juanita Shetler of Orrstown, Pa., Rita Fox of Chambersburg, and June Roqueplot of Bellville, Ill.; three brothers, Phillip Cummings, Charles Cummings and Dale Cummings, all of Chambersburg; and a granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Joyce Miley.

Services will be Friday at 2:30 p.m. in the chapel of Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, 333 Falling Spring Road, Chambersburg. The Rev. George Pogue will officiate. Burial will be in Lincoln Cemetery, Chambersburg, with military honors by Charles M. Nitterhouse Post 1599 VFW.

Visitation will be Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
