Survived by children, Donald Hess Sr., and wife, Hallie, Seward; Rodney Hess, Hertford, N.C.; Ronald Burkett Jr., and wife, Theresa, Johnstown; and Cindy Shepler, Johnstown; grandchildren, Mark McMinn, and wife, Lindsay; Donald Hess Jr., and wife, Maya; Michael Hess, and wife, Karie; David Shepler; and Lindsey Shepler; great-grandson, Tanner Hess; brother, Pete Blansett, Michigan; sisters, Violet Locher, Ohio; Esther Blansett, Johnstown; and Zelda Popolo, New Jersey. Retired from the kitchen at Garfield Junior High School. A member of Grace Lutheran Church. At the request of the deceased, there will be no viewing or visitation. Friends are invited to a memorial service at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Seward United Methodist Church, the Rev. Ronald Emery officiating. Interment, Benshoff Hill Cemetery. CARNEY - Jay D. Sr.

CARNEY - Jay D. Sr., 96, went home to be with the Lord on July 19, 2006. Born in Indiana, Pa., he lived in the Akron, Ohio, area since 1955. He worked at Grace Cathedral as an electrician and supervisor in the maintenance department. Mr. Carney also was employed by Pennsylvania Electric Coal Mine Co. for 19 years and was an electrician and mechanic for 11 years at the Chrysler Corp. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jennie M.; son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. and Dolores; granddaughter, Terry Denise Carney; brothers, Leroy and Clarence; and stepson, Jim Garrett. He is survived by his wife, Judy; daughter, Mary Lou (James E.) Kroft; sons, Jay D. Jr. (Elvira); and John V. (Rebecca); grandchildren, Lori Cavalancia, Brad Carney, Gregory Carney and Barbara George; brother, Walter; stepsons, Andrew F. (Donna) Lucas and Thomas (Kyong) Lindner; stepgrandchildren, Joe, Rob and Jamie Garrett, Heather Calloway, Michael Lindner, Frank Lucas and Kyle and Brooke Barnes; and numerous great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be Monday July 24, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Eckard Baldwin Sanctuary Chapel, 760 E. Market St., with Pastor Rick Fuson. Interment at Hillside Memorial Park. Family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday, July 23, from 2 to 5 p.m. and Monday one hour prior to the service from noon to 1 p.m.

Graduate of Westmont Hilltop High School. Enrolled at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. Member of St. Rochus Catholic Church, where funeral Mass will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m., the Rev. HOFFMAN - Anna June Callihan

HOFFMAN - Anna June Callihan, 85, of 11329 Eastwood Drive, Hagerstown Md., formerly of 9256 Meadowbrook Drive, Waynesboro, Pa., left this earth to join her savior in heaven Sunday morning, July 30, 2006, at her daughter's home in Hagerstown. Anna was born Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1920, in Ryot, Pa. She was the daughter of the late Leson Callihan and the late Hazel Miller Callihan. Her husband, Robert W. Hoffman, went to be with the lord in 2003. Together, Robert and Anna shared 63 years of marriage. Anna was a member of the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, where she was a dedicated Sunday school teacher for many years, as well as participated in the radio ministry for her church. Anna was a member of Aglow of the Brethren ministry. Over the years, she used her ability that God blessed her with and began painting and later become an artist. Anna enjoyed playing the piano, cooking and sewing. During the colder seasons, she and her husband would travel to Florida and spent time with her friends and enjoying the orange trees that we all wish we had. She truly loved her whole family and most of all her lord and savior, Jesus Christ. She is survived by two daughters, Donna L. Chaney, and husband, Carey, of Hagerstown, Md., and Judy A. Weaver, and husband, Gary, of Windber, Pa.; daughter-in-Law, Bonnie Hoffman of Waynesboro, Pa.; seven sisters: Thelda Smith, Delaware; Verla Hinson, Pennsylvania; Phyllis Trefz, Illinois; Belva Ewig, Pennsylvania; Nancy Foust, Maryland; Barbara Dishong, Pennsylvania; and Susan Yost, Pennsylvania; two brothers, Glen Callihan, Pennsylvania, and Robert Callihan, Virginia; three granddaughters: Robin Howe and Susan Wingerd, both of Maryland; and Gina Wagaman, Pennsylvania; five grandsons: Daniel Pauley Sr., Douglas Weaver, Brian Weaver, Kevin Weaver and Thomas Hoffman, all of Pennsylvania; 10 great-grandsons: David and Daniel Howe and Daniel Pauley Jr., all of Maryland; Gary Wingerd, Missouri; Brandon Pauley, California; Matthew Weaver, Jared Weaver, Sam Weaver, Seth Hoffman and Kyle Hoffman, all of Pennsylvania; 10 great-granddaughters: Heather Weaver, Jillian Weaver, Emily Weaver, Bridgett Weaver, Shaley Weaver, Laura Weaver, Lacee Weaver, Kelsey Wagaman, Lauren Wagaman and Anna Hoffman, all of Pennsylvania; one great-great-granddaughter, Leah Howe, Maryland; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her youngest child, Thomas W. Hoffman, and two brothers, Albert and Alton Callihan. Services will be held Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Waynesboro Church of the Brethren, 117 S. Church St., Waynesboro, Pa., with the Rev. Al Guyer officiating. Family will receive friends Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Douglas A. Fiery Funeral Home, 1331 Eastern Blvd. North, Hagerstown, Md. 21742, and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Anna will be laid to rest in Greenhill Cemetery in Waynesboro, Pa., following the celebration of life service at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Washington County, 1500 Pennsylvania Ave., Hagerstown, Md. 21742.

MONTUORO - Dolores

Montuoro, and he preceded her in death on June 4, 2003. She is survived by a daughter, Dolores, wife of David Nelson, of Hewitt, N.J.; and a son, Thomas P. Montuoro Jr. of New Paris; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; four sisters: Mary Jane Armagost of Windber; Shirley Penrod of Johnstown; Beverly Fowler of Everett; and Darlene Heider, and husband, Ron, of Johnstown; and two brothers, William Weaver, and wife, Margaret, and Jack Weaver, and wife, Georgia, both of Johnstown. She was preceded in death by one sister, Wilmina, and one brother, Walter. She was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church in Bedford and was retired as a supervisor in the dietary department at Bergen Pines Hospital in New Jersey. Funeral services were held Monday in Bedford.
