Harper, Frank and Joseph Claycomb. Survived by loving husband, Edgar A. Burtnett; son, Richard P. Burtnett, Cape Canaveral, Fla.; and sisters, Lila Wood, Johnstown, and Phyllis, married to Ronald Dillon, Salix. Lenora was a secretary for Canadian Fur and a charter member of Belmont United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday school teacher, a member of United Methodist Women and Challenger Sunday school class. She was also a member of the Anna L. Windolph Chapter 155 OES. At Lenora's request, there will be no public visitation. Friends are invited to attend a memorial service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at Belmont United Methodist Church, the Rev. David Evans and the Rev. Paul Scruton officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Windber Hospice or the Belmont UMC Memorial Fund. Inurnment, Grandview Cemetery. Picking-Treece-Bennett Mortuary Inc., downtown chapel, is in charge of arrangements.

Survived by daughter, Christina A., married to James Murphy, of Lakewood, N.Y., and many nieces and nephews. An employee of Bethlehem Steel Corp., retiring in 1982 with 45 years of service as a machinist. A World War II Navy veteran, serving on the USS Biloxi (CL-80) in the Pacific Theater. A member of SS. Casimir and Emerich Parish, singing in the choir. Lifelong member of the Polish National Alliance of N.A. and the Free Poland Society 832 PNA, secretary of lodge for over 26 years and attended PNA conventions. Former treasurer of District 8 and former president of Council 22 PNA. Life member of Polish Singers Alliance of America and honorary member of KMP Singing Society and of the KMP Alliance. Life member of VFW Post 155, American Legion 294, Catholic War Veterans, charter member of the Westwood Volunteer Fire Company and member of the Polish Heritage Council, singing in the Polish Heritage Chorus. Funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at SS. Casimir and Emerich Parish, Franciscan Friars, OFM, Conv. Interment, Grandview Cemetery. Survived by sister, Rita Irvine, New York; special niece and godchild, Catherine Vore, Johnstown; nephew, Larry Martin, Apollo; and numerous other nieces and nephews. Peggy is also survived by brother-in-law, Paul Martin, Florida. A former employee of Goodwill Industries and the Dom Care Program. A lifetime member of St. Patrick's and St. John's Legion of Mary. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing or visitation, but family and friends are invited to attend a memorial Mass at 10 a.m. on Thursday at St. John Gualbert Cathedral, the Rev. GOOD - Helen V. "Nana," Stonycreek Township, passed away on June 27, 2004, at Memorial Medical Center. She was Born on Nov. 20, 1921, in Johnstown, daughter of James and Dolly (Harbaugh) Mock. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Richard D. "Dick"; brother, Samuel; sister-in-law, Pat Mock; and brother-in-law, Kenneth Gaston. Survived by daughter, Virginia K. "Ginny," wife of Ron Jaber, Johnstown; grandchildren, Nathan and Santino; stepgrandchildren, Jeremy, Stacey, Erica and Lauren; sister, Margaret Gaston; brother, James, married to the former Blanche Lape, Chambersburg; sister-in-law, Laverne Roseberry, Johnstown; and several nieces and nephews. Helen attended Oakland United Methodist Church. She was a former member of the BPOE Lodge 175 Ladies Auxiliary. Helen will be remembered as a kind and loving mother, grandmother and friend who always had time for her family. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday and one hour prior to service at 11 a.m. on Thursday at the Harris Funeral Home, 500 Cherry Lane, Richland, with the Rev. Ronald B. Reed officiating. Interment will be at Richland Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of one's choice in memory of Helen.

(Barrett), and their daughters, Caitlyn and Megan of Pleasantville, Venango County; brother, George A. of Johnstown; sister, Margaret "Marnie," married to Joseph Cambareri of Staten Island; and sisters and brothers-in-law, Ruth and Barney Custer and Myrt and Paul Custer, all of Johnstown. Also four nieces and three nephews. U.S. Marine Corps veteran of World War II, 21st Marines, Third Marine Division, where he served in the Pacific Theater and Iwo Jima and awarded the Purple Heart. Retired from Sheesley Supply Co. He loved to fish and hunt. Member of First Lutheran Church, where memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Dr. Robert G. Swanson. Friends received from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Frank Duca Funeral Home, Westmont chapel, 1622 Menoher Blvd. Private interment, Grandview Cemetery. HICKS - Mildred G.
HICKS - Mildred G., 76, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2004, at Chandler Hall Hospice, Newtown, Pa. Born in Cambria, Pa. She was employed at Nabisco for 35 years until her retirement in 1994 and a 50-year resident of Croydon. Mrs. Hicks was a member of the Bristol Senior Center and the Nabisco Retirees. She enjoyed volunteering with Nanty Glo Fire Ladies and making afghans. She will be remembered as a beloved mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She will be deeply missed. She was the wife of the late David B. Hicks and mother of Donald Hicks, and his wife, Jeanmarie, Doylestown, Pa. Also survived by four brothers, Ralph, Donald, Meril and James Bracken; three sisters, Dorothy Waldron Emmagene George and Shirley Kozlovac; and two grandchildren, Gregory and Steven. Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral at 10 a.m. Thursday at the Tomlinson Funeral Home, 2207 Bristol Pike, Bensalem, Pa. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Interment, Pine Grove Memorial Park, Hatboro, Pa. KAPLAN - Stephen D.

Born Feb. 10, 1923, in Windber, son of the late Peter and Anna (Volk) Kaplan. Preceded in death by brothers, John and Michael Kaplan, and sisters, Margaret Elias and Helen Graffius. Survived by wife, the former Amelia Cwik, and daughter, Stephanie, wife of John Mueller, Bethel Park. Also survived by brothers, Pete Kaplan, Windber, and James Kaplan, married to the former Jane Thompson, Virginia; sisters, Mary, wife of Herbert Wirick, of Windber, and Ann, widow of John Dooling, Ohio. Also brothers-in-law, John Elias, Windber, and Al Graffius, Johnstown, and sister-in-law, Margaret Kaplan, Johnstown. Steve and Amelia observed their 52nd wedding anniversary in April. Stephen was a graduate of Windber High School and the University of Scranton and also attended Penn State for graduate courses. U.S. Army veteran of World War II, having served with the 29th Infantry in Europe. Retired from Windber Area School District after 35 years of service, where he also served as coordinator of federal projects for five years and director of adult education for four years. Steve was an assistant football coach and head baseball and basketball coach. Windber's first tri-county league title in basketball was in the 1957-1958 season under the coaching of Steve. Two years later in the 1959-1960 season, Coach Kaplan's Ramblers added the second title. Member of PSEA, NEA and PASR. Also member of Elks Lodge 175 of Johnstown, where he won bowling awards for high game average. Member of Windber American Legion and VFW and also member of Wednesday Afternoon Retired Men's Club bowling league. Steve was named one of the Outstanding Educators in America in the 1970s by "Who's Who in American Education." He was inducted into the Windber Hall of Fame in 1984. Steve was one of the first Eucharistic ministers of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber (formerly St. John Cantius), and most recently served as an usher and money counter. Member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, Windber, where funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday, the Very Rev. Leonard E. Voytek, V.F. Entombment, St. Anthony of Padua Mausoleum, Windber, with military honors by Windber VFW. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the William Kisiel Funeral Home, Windber, where vigil for the deceased will be held and where Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m.
