Clifford Stanley
PITTSBURGH, Pa. - Clifford Stanley, 66, formerly of Conneaut, died Thursday, Jan. 4, 2001, at Southside Hospital, Pittsburgh.
The son of Cecil and Maxine L. (Fetters) King, he was born Jan. 1, 1935, in Lansing, Mich.
Mr. Stanley served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War, and was discharged at the rank of lieutenant.
He worked for Iron Workers Local 17 out of Cleveland for 35 years.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, bingo and spending time with his grandchildren.
Survivors include two sons, Carl of Pittsburgh and Clifford of Saybrook Township; a daughter, Cindy Brown of Lansing; and nine grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Rochelle.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at Dean Funeral Home, 3137 E. Center St., North Kingsville, with the Rev. Kevin Horrigan of Prospect Presbyterian Church, Ashtabula, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
Calling hour is from 10 a.m. until the time of service Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

John W. Thomas
MALVERN, Pa. - The Rev. Dr. John W. Thomas, 86, died Sunday, Aug. 5, 2001, at Mercy Suburban General Hospital, Norristown, Pa.
He was born Oct. 21, 1914, in Chicksaw, Pa., the son of John R. and Cora Elizabeth (Hedglin) Thomas. His father died when he was an infant, and he was raised by his stepfather, Isador John Buff.
He was the husband of Geraldine Whitaker Thomas and the widower of A. Roberta Shade Thomas.
He graduated from Ford City High School and received his bachelor's degree from Wheaton College, his masters degree in divinity from Eastern Theological Seminary and did further graduate work at Western Reserve University and Temple University. While attending seminary, he served as an assistant pastor at Belmont Avenue Baptist Church, Philadelphia.
He served as a pastor in Madison and Ashtabula. He also served as a chaplain in the U.S. Navy and Marine Corps.
In 1951, he was asked to serve on the faculty for Eastern Baptist College in St. Davids, Pa. He taught at Eastern College for 24 years, with various responsibilities including director of physical education, interim dean of the faculty and dean of students. He was the certifying officer for the Pennsylvania Department of Instruction, chairman of the education department, and was best remembered as dean of men.
He was a member of the state staff of the Pennsylvania Baptist Convention as of Director of Camping. He also visited camps as an accreditor for the American Camping Association.
During his time at Eastern College, he held several interim pastorates in the eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey area. After his retirement he went to Camden. N.J., where he served as pastor of Rosedale Baptist Church.
Survivors include his daughter, Judith E. Cowperthwaite of East Fallowfield, Pa.; two son, John S., of Malvern, Pa., and Robert, of Phoenixville, Pa.; a stepson, Claude L. Loesch of Hudson, Fla.; a stepdaughter, Jerie Leigh Pickard of Jefferson; 18 grandchildren and stepgrandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and a sister, Irene Lorigan, of Kittanning, Pa.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Howard E., T. Charles and C. Joseph.
Service is 11 a.m. Thursday at the East Brandywine Baptist Church, 999 Horseshoe Pike, Downington, Pa. Interment will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Malvern Baptist Church.
Calling hours are from 10 a.m. to the time of the service Thursday.
Mauger/Givnish Inc. Funeral Home, 24 Monument Ave., Malvern, Pa., has charge of the arrangements.

Daniel A. Weaver
WEST SALEM TOWNSHIP, Pa. - Daniel A. Weaver, 77, Kinsman Road, died Saturday, April 7, 2001, at his home.
He was born Aug. 31, 1923, in Middlefield, the son of Abraham "Abe" J. and Fannie D. (Miller) Weaver. He marriage Elizabeth S. Miller on April 3, 1952.
Mr. Weaver, a longtime area resident, worked as a farmer and a carpenter.
He was a member of the Kinsman Amish Church.
Mr. Weaver is survived by his wife; six sons, Abe of Dawson Springs, Ky., Dan of Leesburg, Chris of Cochranton, Pa., Sam of Jamestown, Pa., David of Greenville, Pa., and Robert of Meadville, Pa.; four daughters, Barbara Miller of Auburn, Ky., Betty Miller of Meadville, Pa., Sally Miller of Greenville, Pa., and Susan Miller of Fredericksburg; a brother, Abe Weaver Jr.; nine sisters, Martha Kurtz, Sarah Byler, Saloma Misterka, Jemia Schmucker, Katie Kumher, Rebecca Mast, Fannie Weaver, Ella Gingerich and Emma Mast; 49 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Andy, Joe and Ervin; three sisters, Lydia Tills, Mary Hostetler and Barbara Weaver; and a grandson, Thomas Lee Weaver.
Service is 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Kinsman Amish School, Ward North Road, Kinsman, with Bishop Menno Fisher officiating.
Friends may call in both the afternoon and evening at the home of Samuel Weaver, 5 Short Road, Jamestown, Pa. Burial will be in the Kinsman Amish Cemetery.
Baumgardner Funeral Home, 8568 Main St., Kinsman, is in charge of the arrangements.

Edwin A. Hill
ALBION, Pa. ­ Edwin A. Hill, 82, of Route 6N, died Sunday, May 6, 2001, at Ashtabula County Nursing Home, Kingsville Township.
He was born July 8, 1918, in Cherry Hill, Pa., the son of Andrew and Mary (Karhu) Hill.
Mr. Hill lived in the Cherry Hill area his entire life and graduated with honors from West Springfield High School. He served with the Merchant Marines during World War II and worked as a shiploader at the Pittsburgh & Conneaut Dock Co. retiring after 34 years.
He was a member of the Federated Church of East Springfield, the Albion Veterans of Foreign Wars, the American Legion of Girard, Pa., and was a former member of the Moose Club of Albion.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting and working on machinery.
Survivors include his wife of 27 years, Dorothy (Richards) Hill; three daughters, Sharon Ticknor of Milton, Fla., Vickie Mathias of Bradenton, Fla., and Sally Richardson of Sarasota, Fla.; two stepdaughters, Brenda Febel of Madison and Wendy West of Amarillo, Texas; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Carol Weaver; two sisters, Inez Holmstrom and Ruth Hill; and five brothers, Elmer, William, Charles, George and Raymond Hill.
Funeral is 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Marcy Funeral Home, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Ed Huntley of the Federated Church officiating. Burial will be in East Conneaut Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Jean Carlos Steimer
DRAVOSBURG, Pa. - Jean Carlos Steimer, 77, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2001, at UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh, Pa.
He was born June 8, 1924, in Duquesne, Pa., the son of Edward Abdon and Mary Weber Steimer.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II, serving aboard LST-510 and LST-521 in the European Theater of Operations.
He retired as a plumber in Allegheny County in 1992.
He was a 50-year member of Plumbers Local 27, a life member of the Dravosburg Volunteer Fire Co. No. 2, and member of St. Agnes Church in West Mifflin, Pa., Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 75 in Duquesne, and the Gen. Smedley D. Butler American Legion Post 701 in White Oak, Pa.
Survivors include his wife, Joan Townsend, originally of Ashtabula County; children James Steimer of Bethel Park, Pa., Jeanine Steimer of McKeesport, Pa., John Steimer of Geneva and Janet Spang of White Oak, Pa.; granddaughters Jessica, Sarah and Hannah Steimer, and Paige and Maura Spang; brothers Joseph Steimer of Montgomery, Texas, Glenn Steimer of West Mifflin, Orvis Steimer of Ligonier, Pa., Paul Steimer of Jeannette, Pa., and Felix Steimer of Duquesne; and sisters Mary Dale of Warren, N.J., and Carole Pastrick of Duquesne.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian burial is 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Agnes Church in West Mifflin.
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Strifflers of Dravosburg-West Mifflin Cremation Service and Funeral Home, 740 Pittsburgh-McKeesport Blvd., Dravosburg, Pa.

Sadie Ruth Clute
CONNEAUTVILLE, Pa. - Sadie Ruth Clute, 84, of State Highway 198, died Friday, Dec. 6, 2002, at Rolling Fields Inc. She was born June 30, 1918 in Coraopolis, Pa., the daughter of Vensel Holets and Alma Dozark Holets.
She worked as an LPN at Shadeland Nursing Home and Heasters Nursing Home of Conneautville.
She marriage three times. Her first husband was Anathony Mayers, her second husband was William L. Warner and her third husband was John Clute.
Survivors include three daughters; Ruby Ball of Conneaut, Bonnie Egli of Springboro, Pa. and Alma Warner of Polk, Pa., two sons; Frank Warner of Proctorville and Elvin Warner of Meadville, Pa.; four sisters, Etta Barton of Platea, Pa., Rose Henretta of Springboro, Pa., Gladys Whippo of Albion, Pa. and Freda Peterson of Greenville, Pa.; 10 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three husbands.
Service is 1 p.m. Tuesday, at the White-Cool Funeral Home, 1405 Main St., Conneautville, Pa, with the Rev. Dixie Welker of Hickernell United Methodist Church officiating.
Interment will be at Albion Cemetery.
Calling hours are 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and from noon to the time of the service Tuesday at the funeral home.

Matthew D. Bartosek
EAST SPRINGFIELD, Pa. - Matthew D. Bartosek, 19, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, while competing in the ATV Winter Olympics in Gainesville, Fla.
He was born Sept. 17, 1983, in Conneaut, the son of Edward and Debi Bartosek.
He had been active in Little League and Little Gridders, playing on All-Star teams for both. He also had been a member of the Trail Blazer 4-H Club.
Mr. Bartosek was a 2002 graduate of Northwestern High School and was employed as a service technician at Baldwin Motorsports in Ashtabula.
His memberships included: West Springfield United Methodist Church; American Motorcycle Association (AMA); All Terrain Vehicle Association; and the Competition Riders Association.
In 1998 and 1999, he was the overall youth champion of the AMA GNC racing series. In 1999, he received the ATV Sports People's Choice "Most Feared Youth Rider" award. In 2000, Mr. Bartosek was presented the Randy Howard Memorial Award, in recognition of his professionalism, sportsmanship and winning attitude throughout the 2000 ATV Grand National series.
He finished 11th nationally in his rookie year in Pro class.
Survivors include his father and stepmother, Edward Bartosek and Ann (English) of West Springfield, Pa.; mother, Debi Bartosek, and her companion, Jody Bateman of East Springfield, Pa.; two brothers, John Bartosek of East Springfield, Pa. and Steve English of West Springfield, Pa.; sister, Stephanie English of West Springfield, Pa.; girlfriend, Rachel Furman of Jefferson; maternal grandparents, Fred and Charon Wilkin of Fort Myers, Fla.; and paternal grandmother, Louise Carmella Bartosek of Edinboro, Pa.
He was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Frank Bartosek.
Service will be 11 a.m. Saturday at West Springfield United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Robert K. Klinger officiating.
Burial will follow in Hope Cemetery, Albion, Pa.
Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at Burton Funeral Home, 525 Main St. E., Girard, Pa.
