Allen E. Morgan
ESPYVILLE, Pa. - Allen Eugene Morgan, 68, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at his home.
A member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Andover, Mr. Morgan was born Jan. 18, 1934, in New Martinsville, W.Va. He was the son of Hamen T. and Amanda (Buchanan) Morgan.
Before retiring, he was employed for 40 years as a machinist at Atlas Bolt and Screw in Ashland.
His other memberships included Eagles #2178 and AMVETS #96, both in Ashland.
Survivors include his two daughters, Melissa Buhl of Ashland and Michelle Chance of Arizona; sister, Doris Westfall of New Martinsville, W.Va.; brother, Rodger Morgan of Campbell; grandson, Corey; and granddaughter, Kyleigh
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Lee Wayne Morgan; and sister, Freida LeMasters.
Service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Creig Chapel Church in New Martinsville, W.Va.
Burial will be in Creig Chapel Cemetery, New Martinsville, W.Va.
Randall Funeral Home, Jamestown, Pa., handled the arrangements.

Nina Elizabeth Mellinger
CONNEAUTVILLE, Pa. - Nina Elizabeth Mellinger, 97, died Tuesday, Nov. 7, 2000, at Rolling Fields Inc. in Conneautville, Pa.
She was born March 30, 1903, in Ashtabula, OH, the daughter of Andrew Oscar and Susanne Korpi Ylitalo.
Mrs. Mellinger was a homemaker.
She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jefferson and attended Conneautville Church of Christ.
She is survived by two daughters: Shirley Gruey of Ashtabula, OH and Barbara Comp of Conneautville; a son, Thomas of Warrensburg, Mo.; two sisters: Helen Kennedy of Rick Springs, Wyo., and Esther Cook of Cleveland; 16 grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Mellinger was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle Olin Mellinger, in 1978; two sons: Richard and David; a brother, Charles; and a sister, Martha.
Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Conneautville Church of Christ, 1308 Main St., Conneautville. The revs. Rich Jones and Grey Comp will officiate. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at White-Cool Funeral Home, 1405 Main St., Conneautville.

Delna Sawdy
GIRARD, Pa. - Delna Ruth Sawdy, 92, formerly of Albion, Pa., died Thursday, June 7, 2001, at Pleasant Ridge Manor West, Girard.
She was born in Verona, Allegheny County, Pa., the daughter of William and Lula Milliken Davis.
She was a past member of Grace United Methodist Church, Albion, Pa., and a past member of the Lincoln Club, Albion.
Mrs. Sawdy was a graduate of Albion High School and Edinboro Normal School and was a retired kindergarten teacher in the Northwestern School District and Conneaut Township Schools.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Merl Sawdy, in 1997; two sisters, Helen Davis and Martha Shannon; three brothers, Harold, Earl and Frank Davis.
Survivors include five children, William of Cranesville, Pa., Charles of Conneaut, Larry of Erie, Pa., Marjorie Lawrence of Albion, Pa., and Joanne Strasser of Erie, Pa.; a sister, Margaret Beery of Albion, Pa.; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren, and three great-great-grandchildren.
Service is 11 a.m. Monday at the Samuel J. Steff Funeral Home, 188 E. State St., Albion, Pa. Burial will be in Albion Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

Miriam T. Haksluoto
ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Miriam T. Haksluoto, 85, of Allentown, Pa., died Thursday, Jan. 9, 2003, at Phoebe Home, Allentown, Pa.
She was born in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of Ernest and S. Florence (Klinger) Tither.
She marriage Paul A. Haksluoto, whom preceded her in death and at one time lived in Ashtabula, OH.
Mrs. Haksluoto was a school teacher for five years at Conshohokes, Pa., five years at Fort Washington, Pa., and 25 years at Philadelphia School District.
She received a Bachelors of Arts degree from West Chester University in 1940.
Mrs. Haksluoto was a member of Boulevard Evangelical Congregational Church in Allentown, Pa., Finnish American Society and Great Lakes Historical Society.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday, at Boulevard Evangelical Congregational Church, 2127 West Tilghman St., Allentown, Pa.
Calling hours will be 10 to 11 a.m. Monday, at the church.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Boulevard Evangelical Congregational Church in Allentown, Pa., or Christ E. C. Church in Jarrettown, Pa.

James D. Halfhill
LINESVILLE, Pa. - James D. Halfhill, 60, died Friday, Feb. 8, 2002, at the Meadville Medical Center.
Mr. Halfhill was born Feb. 6, 1942, in Painesville, OH, the son of Herman and Virginia June (Ford) Halfhill.
He marriage Mary Ellen Guyette April 15, 1972, in Thompson Township.
Mr. Halfhill was a Merchant Marine and had worked on the Diamond Alkali Ore ship on the Great Lakes for a number of years. For the past 25 years, he had been a self-employed truck driver.
He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of the National Rifle Association, Pymatuning Sportsman Club and Urbandale Gun Club, Madison. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife; his mother of Thompson Township, three children, Herman J., Patrick J. and Margo E., all of Linesville, Pa.; a sister, Bonnie Rierson of Tucson, Ariz.; a brother, Tom of Tucson, Ariz.; and two grandchildren, Cody and Jade Balogh.
He was preceded in death by his father and a sister, Connie Wilson.
Service is 7 p.m. Monday at the Harold W. Coleman Jr. Funeral Home, 6028 Route 6, Linesville, Pa., with the Rev. Joseph C. Rial officiating
Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

Carol J. Brown
EAST SPRINGFIELD, Pa. - Carol J. Brown, 63, died Sunday, Dec. 8, 2002, at the North Central Baptist Hospital in San Antonio, Texas, while visiting family.
She was born May 24, 1939, in Cranesville, Pa., to Elmer and Mary Vangor Lasch. She marriage Don Brown Dec. 7, 1957.
Mrs. Brown battled schleraderma the last 20 years and had a positive outlook on life. Her strength, determination and will to live life to the fullest was an example for everyone. She was driven by the love for her family and friends, putting the needs of others before her own.
She was reared in the Lutheran church and was a member of the Girard Lutheran Church.
Mrs. Brown loved to play bingo. She belonged to the Erie Women's Softball League and liked playing golf, collecting antiques, playing cards and bowling.
Survivors include her husband; daughter Cindy Soltis of San Antonio, Texas; sons Jeff Brown of Austin, Texas and Randy Brown of East Springfield, Pa.; sister Marge Fossberg of West Springfield, Pa.; brother Herb Lasch of Seattle, Wash.; six grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers Albert and Robert Lasch.
Funeral is 10 a.m. Friday, at the Jean Evans Thompson Funeral Home, 11883 Main St., East Springfield, Pa., officiated by the Rev. Fred Poeppel of the Albion/Girard Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Springfield Cemetery.
Friends may call 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday, at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Springfield Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. Box 76, East Springfield, Pa. 16411. Envelopes are available at the funeral home.

Pauline M. Dunn
LATITZ, Pa. - Pauline M. Dunn, 95, of S. Broad St., died Monday, Aug. 6, 2001, at Audubon Villa, following a brief illness.
She was born in Conneaut, a daughter of Frank B. and Maud (Nunamaker) Dunn.
A graduate of Conneaut High School and a 1929 graduate of Oberlin College, she majored in music.
For 25 years, she was director of alumni at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, OH retiring in 1971.
She was past president of Oberlin Alumni Chapter of Cleveland.
Survivors include a niece, Patricia Ulrich of Landisville, Pa.; two nephews, Robert Sydansk of Littleton, Colo., and Donald Sydansk of New Cumberland, Pa.; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Sydansk of Landisville, Pa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Elizabeth Sydansk.
Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery.
Marcy Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, has charge of local arrangements.
