Hunter, Mrs. George B.
June 10, 1970
Mrs. George B. Hunter, of Johnstown, died in her sleep during the night, at her home. She and Mr. Hunter had just returned to Johnstown after attending the funeral on Monday of his sister, Miss M. Josephine Hunter, of Mill Hall. They were planning to go to Chicago this week to attend the graduation of a grandson.
Her death terminated a marriage of 58 years.
Mr. and Mrs. Dewey F. Danis of Mill Hall have gone to Johnstown for the funeral.

Heckman, Kenneth E.
June 7, 1993
Kenneth E. Heckman, 83, of 103 Ferguson St., Charles City, Iowa, formerly of Salona, died Sunday, May 23, 1993, in Floyd County Memorial Hospital in Charles City.
Born Nov. 7, 1909, in Salona, he was the son of Eugene and Margaret Courter Heckman.
Mr. Heckman was a graduate of Lock Haven High School. He also received an electrical engineering degree from the Pennsylvania State University.
He was united in marriage July 27, 1936, in Preoria, Ill., to Mary Carolyn Laye, who survives.
He served with the U.S. Army Air Force in Guam during World War II as head of maintenance for the B-29 bombers and reached the rank of lieutenant colonel.
He and his wife moved to Charles City in 1947 where he was associated in business in Heckman-Reynolds
Construction Company and Aggregate, a road construction firm and aggregate sales firm. He developed a tree farm and pursued his hobby of gardening in the last 20 years.
He was a member of the First Congregational Church where he served as a former trustee and building committee
member. He was a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars, both of Charles City, Air Force
Reserve and the Association of General Contractors.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are one son, Alan Heckman of Jewell, Iowa; one daughter, Mrs. Donald (Gwen) Eils of Crescenta, Calif.; two sisters, Lois Bryan of Jersey Shore and Eunice Black of Sun City, Ariz.; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Fred Heckman, and one sister, Mary Heckman Kreidler.
Services were Wednesday, May 26, in Charles City. The Rev. Don L. Laue, his pastor, officiated. Burial was in
Riverside Cemetery with military honors conducted at graveside by the American Legion, VFW and Vietnam
Veterans.

Keller, Frank Edward
May 14, 1942
(Funeral Announcement) Frank Edward, 75, at the Private Hospital, Tuesday, May 12, 1942, at 11 p.m. Surviving are a grandniece, Mrs. S. K. Hartman, 143 1/2 East Water St., with whom he resided; and a brother, John of this city. Funeral services, Friday, 2 p.m. at the Helt Funeral Home. Burial, Dunnstown Cemetery.

Kyler, Nina Josephine
November 20, 1991
(Funeral Announcement) Private services will be 10 a.m. Thursday in the Yost-Gedon Funeral Home, 121 W. Main
St., Lock Haven, for Nina Josephine Kyler, 83, of 52 N. Fairview St., Lock Haven, who died at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, 1991 in the Lock Haven Hospital. The Rev. Russell L. Looker, pastor of the Great Island Presbyterian Church, will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery. There will be no visitation. The family suggests memorial contributions to the Lock Haven Hospital Extended Care Unit.

Kephart, James
September 27, 1950
A farewell party last evening in Avis, for two sons who are departing today under Army orders, ended in a sudden illness, a fall and injuries for the father, James Mitchell Kephart, 522 E. Main St., this city.
He is a patient in the Lock Haven Hospital, in satisfactory condition.
Mr. Kephart has four sons in service. One of them, Pfc. Bobby Kephart who has been home on leave from Korea, departs today to undergo a mastoid operation at Walter Reed Hospital. Another son, Herbert, leaves for Camp
Meade, Md.
Last night their sister, Mrs. George Geyer, of South Avis, entertained for them at a farewell supper party at her home. Mr. and Mrs. Kephart, the two sons, Mrs. Mary Bartley, of this city, and Tommy Lindemuth, the Kepharts’ grandson, made up the family party.
After he had eaten, Mr. Kephart told his wife he did not feel well. As he walked down the second floor steps, thinking to go outside, he called to Bobby for a flashlight.
As Bobby went to the car to get the flashlight, he heard a thud, and turned to see his father had fallen from the porch. His head struck a concrete block nearby.
Mr. Kephart was somewhat revived by the time the Flemington ambulance arrived to bring him to Lock Haven. He
was suffering pain in the areas around his neck, back and left arm. No report was available to the Express up until
noon today from X-rays taken to determine the extent of these injuries.
Mr. Kephart is a watchman employed by the Sylvania Electric Products, Inc. in Mill Hall. His other sons in service are Robert K., now in Korea, and Theodore, stationed at Camp Campbell, Ky. A fifth son, James, a naval reservist, expects to be called soon.

Kruk, Julia
December 14, 1970
Mrs. Julia Kruk, 83, of Falls Creek, mother of Borough Councilman John Kruk of Hillview, died Saturday.
Her funeral will be on Tuesday, in DuBois.

Keller, Samuel J.
March 26, 1973
Samuel J. Keller, 84, of 117 N. Liberty St., died Saturday at 3:45 p.m. at Susque-View where he had been a guest
since August 7. He had been in failing health during the past three years.
Some years ago, Mr. Keller wrote the lyrics to two songs which were published in sheet music form - “All I’ve Got Left Is Your Picture” and “Down in the Old Apple Orchard.”
Born in Lock Haven, Mr. Keller was a son of the late William and Ellen Keiffer Keller. He lived his entire life in the Lock Haven area and was employed over 30 years as a maintenance man at Josephthal & Co.
He was a member of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.
Surviving are two sisters, Miss Clarice Keller and Mrs. Margaret Thomas, at home.

Lehman, Sophie I.
June 25, 1973
(Funeral Announcement) Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the Kelchner Funeral Home, Jersey Shore, for Mrs. Sophie I. Lehman, 70, of 219 Thompson St., Jersey Shore, who died at 4:15 a.m. Friday, June 22, 1973, at the
Leader Nursing Home, Jersey Shore. She was the widow of Chester V. Lehman. The Rev. Donald Winstead, her
pastor, will officiate. Burial, Limestone Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home Monday from 7 to 9 p.m.

Laubscher, Geneva J.
December 11, 1997
Geneva J. Frank, 83, of Lamar died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 1997 in the extended care unit of Lock Haven Hospital.
Born in Avis Dec. 6, 1914, she was the daughter of the late William and Jennie Cameron Laubscher.
She had attended the Swissdale School. During World War II, she worked at the former Sylvania Electric Plant in Mill Hall. She also worked for many years at the Lock Haven Hospital as an LPN. She was a member of the Lamar United Methodist Church.
She enjoyed crocheting and quilting.
She is survived by her husband, Paul C. Frank, who she marriage Feb. 19, 1939. She is also survived by a daughter,
Connie Hyder of Gibsonia; a son, Jeffrey Frank of Montoursville; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Paul C. Frank, Jr. who died in 1913.

Ludwig, Glenn H.
December 14, 1970
Glenn H. Ludwig, 73, of 906 Allegheny St., died Saturday in the Jersey Shore Hospital.
A native of Clinton County, Mr. Ludwig had worked 40 years for the New York Central car shops in Avis, retiring in 1962.
His wife, the former Ada Barner, two sons, Glenn E., Jersey Shore and Robert T., Jersey Shore R.D. 3, also a
daughter, Mrs. Mary Rainey, New Castle, survive, with six grandchildren, and a half brother, Jacob Ludwig of Jersey Shore.
