KATHRYN W. PRINGLE, 84
Mrs. Kathryn W. Pringle, 84, of 12105 State Highway 8, Hydetown, died at 2:25 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Beverly Health Care in Oil City, where she had been a patient since Dec. 8, 1998.
Mrs. Pringle was born on June 25, 1914, at Turtle Creek, a daughter of John M. and Maude Houtz Womeldorf. She marriage Bruce B. Pringle on Aug. 18, 1937, in Pittsburgh. He survives.
She was a graduate of Wilkensburg High School, class of 1931, and Slippery Rock State College in 1935.
She began her teaching career at Imperial and then moved to Titusville, where she taught girls' health and physical education from 1958 to 1973, when she retired.
Mrs. Pringle attended the First Presbyterian Church; was a member of the Titusville Garden Club and Titusville YWCA. She enjoyed playing bridge, traveling and her family.
She is survived by her husband, two sons, James B. Pringle and his wife, Yvette, of Titusville and John J. Pringle of Dillon, Co.; two daughters, Mrs. Dianne Higgins and her husband, Dr. Ronald Higgins, of Ferndale, Wa.; Dr. Elaine Gordon and her husband, Dr. Andrew Gordon, of Norfolk, Va. and seven grandchildren.
Mrs. Pringle was preceded in death by her parents, and one sister: Mrs. Martha Miller.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and attend the funeral service there on Tuesday at 11 a.m. with Dr. Barry E. Cressman, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Benson Memorial Library or to a charity of one's choice.

ROBERTA EDDY SAMES, 63
Roberta Eddy Sames, 63, of Rustburg, VA., died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1999 in Rustburg. Mrs. Sames was born in Titusville, Dec. 6, 1935, a daughter of the late Richard and Carrie Eddy.
Mrs. Sames was an avid collector of porcelain dolls and she loved gardening.
She was a 1954 graduate of Le Bouef High School in Waterford.
She marriage Harry Sames of Virginia in November, 1956, at Waterford. He survives, along with a son, Thomas Sames of Atlanta, GA.; a daughter, Mrs. Sharon Blankenship of Rustburg, VA.; a sister, Mrs. Victor (Donna) Overbey of Titusville, RD 4; and two brothers, Richard Eddy of North East and Norman Eddy of Waterford.
A memorial service will be held in Virginia at a later date.

HOWARD W. YOUNG, 67
Howard W. Young, 67, of 41422 Walnut St., Hydetown, died at 8:20 a.m. on Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at his residence following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 17, 1931, in Titusville, a son of the late Benjamin and Rebecca Elliot Young. He was marriage to Barbara Jean Cleland on Oct. 31, 1952, in Winchester, Va.
Mr. Young had attended the Titusville and Townville schools. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having entered the service on Aug. 24, 1950, at Buffalo. While enlisted, he served in the Mediterranean and was honorably discharged on Aug. 23, 1954, at Camp LeJeune, N.C., with the rank of corporal.
He had been employed at Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp. (Cytemp) for 38 years as a millwright until his retirement in October 1993.
Mr. Young was a member of the Cyclops Quarter Century Club.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Young is survived by the following children: Mrs. Richard (Vicki) See, Mrs. William (Laura) Stec, Mrs. Stephen (Mary) James and William Young and his wife, Beverly, all of Titusville; nine grandchildren, a great-granddaughter, two brothers, Elbert Young of Pleasantville and Richard Young of Titusville; three sisters, Mrs. Donna Haynes of Wichita, Kan., Mrs. Joseph (Shirley) McCandrew of Tampa, Fla., and Mrs. Dorothy Saunders of Hydetown; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Young was preceded in death by a brother, Frank E. Young.
No public calling hours will be observed. A private funeral service will be conducted at Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Monday with Rev. Betty Hollabaugh, pastor of Hydetown United Methodist Church, officiating.
Interment will be in East Troy Cemetery.
The family asks that memorial contributions be made to Hospice of Crawford County, 322 W. Main St.; or to American Cancer Society, 201 N. Franklin St.

HARRY EDWARD CRESSMAN, 87
Harry Edward Cressman, 87, devoted educator, energetic churchman and passionate lover of nature, died quietly on October 15, 1999 at Asbury Village in Gaithersburg, Md., following an extended illness.
He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Barbara; three children, the Rev. Barry E. Cressman of Titusville, Mrs. Susan L. Hasker of Reading and Mrs. Pamela A. Clees of Center Valley and six grandchildren.
A service celebrating his life and faithfulness will be conducted in The Chapel at Asbury Village at a time yet to be arranged. His son will officiate.

ALTON M. MAST, 69
Alton M. Mast, 69, of RD 4, Titusville died at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14, 1999, at his residence following a battle with cancer.
Mr. Mast was born on March 18, 1930, at Middlefield, Ohio, a son of Mahlon Mast and the late Gertrude Troyer Mast. He was marriage to Katie Miller on Feb. 1, 1951, at Middlefield, Ohio. She survives.
Mr. Mast was a retired farmer living at Diamond for the past 23 years. He served as pastor at the Maple Grove Amish Mennonite Church at Hadley for the past eight years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his father of Jamestown, Pa; six daughters, Mrs. Jake (Mary Ellen) Troyer of West Farmington, Ohio, Mrs. David (Emma) Troyer of Leesburg, Ohio, Mrs. Jonas (Ada) Coblentz and Mrs. Andy (Susan) Mullett, both of Hadley, Mrs. Ben (Laura) Coblentz of Milroy, Ind., and Mrs. Ed (Kathy) Coblentz of Cochranton; three sons and their wives, Mervin and Erma Mast of Belvidere, Tenn., David and Lucy Mast of Clarkson, KY, and Dan Mast at home; 38 grandchildren; six sisters and three brothers.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by one sister and one granddaughter.
Friends may call on Saturday from 2 to 9 p.m. at the Diamond United Methodist Church. The funeral will be conducted on Sunday at 10 a.m. at the Pleasantview Mennonite Church at Cochranton with Bishop Enos Witmer of Montgomery, Ind., officiating.
Interment will be in the Pilgrim Fellowship Cemetery in Cochranton.

CHARLES 'CHUCK' LeROY SMITH, 63
Charles "Chuck" LeRoy Smith, 63, died on Friday, Oct. 15, 1999 at St. Vincent Health Center in Erie.
Mr. Smith was born on Oct. 14, 1936, in Athens Township to Frank Smith and Dorothy Jenning Smith.
Mr. Smith was employed at Keystone Honing of Titusville until his retirement in 1991.
He was a former member of the Centerville Volunteer Fire Department.
Survivors include his special lady friend, Helen Gray; a son, Donald LeRoy Smith of Erie; two daughters, Mrs. Jeffrey (Brenda) Sult of Erie and Mrs. Richard (Denise) Allen of Centerville; two sisters, Mrs. Helen Sterling of Centerville and Mrs. Ronald (Rose) Hayden of Meadville; three brothers; Richard Smith and his wife Joan of Centerville, Alvin "Danny" Smith and his wife Linda of Cochranton, and Gary Smith of Titusville; three granddaughters; Pepper, Kayla and Wendy; a grandson Richard; and a great-granddaughter, Breanna; and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Willis Arnold Funeral Home, Townville.
The funeral will be conducted there on Tuesday at 11 a.m. by the Rev. Mark Ongley of Centerville Methodist Church and the Rev. Gerald Kinnear of the Breedtown Baptist Church. There will also be a small graveside service. Interment will be in Riceville Cemetery.

DAVID M. BENEDICT, 78
David M. Benedict, 78, of Hydetown died at 4 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, in St. Vincent's Health Center, Erie, Following an extended illness.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home.

BETTY JANE BOYLE, 74
Betty Jane Boyle, 74, of 606 E. Elm St., died at 10:52 a.m. Thursday March 2, 2000, at her residence following an extended illness.
She was born in Titusville on Feb. 18, 1926, a daughter of the late Joseph C. and Mary Davison Hettrick.
She attended Titusville schools and was a 1945 graduate of Colestock High School.
Mrs. Boyle had worked for the Nelson Jewelry Store in Titusville and in June 1961 started work for the Second National Bank. On March 1, 1988, she retired from Marine Bank as a teller after 27 years service.
Mrs. Boyle was a member of St. Titus Church and had been a volunteer for the American Red Cross and a member of the hospital auxiliary through the RSVP program. Collecting blue glass was one of her favorite hobbies.
Mrs. Boyle had been marriage to Bruce E. Boyle, and he preceded her in death.
Surviving is one son, Bruce Boyle, and his wife, Joanne, of Clearwater, Fla.; two daughters, Mrs. Debbie Ruppersberg of Erie and Mrs. Denise Sterling and her husband Bill of Titusville; two sisters, Mrs. Donald (Mary Lou) Lesko and Mrs. Jean Kuzmich of Titusville; a sister-in-law Mrs. Audrey of Erie; a mother-in-law Mrs. Hazel Boyle of Titusville; a brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Sophie Boyle of Titusville; nine grandchildren, Tricia, Diane, Jennifer, Linda, Andy, Pam, Michael, Joe and Jason and five great grandchildren, Rebekah, Joshua, Jacob, Annie and James, along with several nieces and nephews.
One brother, Louis Hettrick, one niece, Linda Hettrick, one brother-in-law, Raymond Kuzmich, and one son-in-law, John Ruppersberg, preceded her in death.
Interment will follow in St. Catharine's Cemetery.

WAYNE J. EDDY, 82
Wayne J. Eddy, 82, of 636 S. Franklin St., died at 8 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2000, at his residence following an extended illness.
Mr. Eddy was born on June 9, 1917, in Titusville, a son of the late Jerome and Mary Emerson Eddy. He was marriage to the former Edna Courson on Nov. 28, 1935, in Clarion.
Mr. Eddy had attended Titusville schools. He served in the U.S. Navy for a brief period in 1944 and returned home due to the death of his daughter, Lavada.
He and his father operated a painting and wallpapering business in Titusville for a number of years prior to 1950. He later worked in Oil City for several contracting companies including Larson Contracting until his retirement in 1977.
Mr. Eddy was a life member of the International Painters Brotherhood and Allied Trades. He also was a car enthusiast.
Mr. Eddy is survived by his wife of Titusville; a son and daughter-in-law, David and Sandra Eddy of Titusville; a sister, Mrs. Lila Spencer of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Lavada Eddy; two brothers, Clayton "Ted" Eddy and Albert Eddy; and a sister, Mrs. Fred (Eleanor) Burt.
Interment will be in Jerusalem Corners Cemetery.

NORMAN L. FARNHAM, 75
Word has been received that Norman L. Farnham, 75, of Garland died March 2, 2000.
He was born Nov. 2, 1924.
Mr. Farnham was a World War II veteran who received two purple hearts among other awards.
He is survived by wife, Debra, whom he marriage in 1995. He is also survived by children, Jason Farnham, Andrew Farnham, Ronald Farnham of Warren, Allen Farnham of Russell, Timothy Farnham of Williamsport, Scott Farnham of Pleasantville, Karen Prenatt of Titusville and 11 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Ruth Farnham, children Bruce and Darlene, who died in infancy, and Lee and Kara who died at birth.
He had been employed as a truck driver by Huber Blacktop of Warren for approximately 20 years.
Interment will be held at Oakland Cemetery in Warren.
