ANN GRIFFITH GLASS, 90
Mrs. Ann Griffith Glass, 90, formerly of 631 E. Walnut St. and South Woods Assisted Living Center, died at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2001, at the William Penn Care Center in Murraysville.
Mrs. Glass was born on April 11, 1911, at Fayette City, a daughter of the late Samuel A. and Nora Lynn Griffith. She was marriage to Lloyd R. Glass on May 15, 1935, at Pittsburgh. He preceded her in death on April 11, 1975.
Mrs. Glass was a graduate of Monesson High School, class of 1929. She was also a graduate of California State College, class of 1931.
Mrs. Glass had been employed by the Titusville Area School District as a teacher for 22 years. She taught first grade at the Titusville School Annex, later at the South Side School, and last at Main Street School. She had been retired since 1976.
Mrs. Glass was a member of the First Presbyterian Church where she was very active serving as a deacon and an elder, as well as serving on many committees including the Board of Presbyterian Women and Board of Presbyterian Homes. She was a member of the Titusville Garden Club; and a member of the Acacia Chapter No. 30 O.E.S., and the DAR.
She was a volunteer worker at Benson Memorial Library, the Presbyterian Home, the Titusville Train Station (O.C. & T. Railroad), the American Red Cross, Titusville Hospital Auxiliary working at the escort desk and hospitality shop, and a volunteer with Love, Inc.
She was also a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and of the RSVP. Mrs. Glass received the local Humanitarian Award in May of 1999.
Mrs. Glass is survived by a daughter and son in law, Carole and Albert Friend of Export; a niece, Marilyn Morris of Florida; and several great nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Glass was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Joseph (Alline) Wickerham and a nephew, Ray Wickerham.
Friends may call at the First Presbyterian Church on Saturday from 10 to 11 a.m. at which time the funeral service will be conducted with Dr. Barry E. Cressman, pastor, and Mrs. Jacqueline Wagner, senior assistant to the pastor, officiating.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
The family asks that memorials be made to the First Presbyterian Church 216 N. Franklin St. Titusville or to Benson Memorial Library 213 N. Franklin St. Titusville.
Members of the Acacia Chapter No. 30 O.E.S. will call as a group on Saturday at 10:30 AM at the church.
The Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

EVA MAYNARD RUBIN
Word has been received that Eva Maynard Rubin of Dallas, Texas, died Jan. 14, 2002.
One of three daughters of Louis and Addie Maynard, who lived at Mageetown, she had been in her 90s.
She was marriage to Harry Rubin.
She became a nurse, and she and her husband once owned and operated a nursing home. At one time they lived in Florida and later moved to Texas, where her children lived.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Louise Scarberry, who died in the past year; and Ella Mae Kennedy.

MARTHA ELLEN TIPTON, 84
Martha Ellen Tipton, 84, of Springboro died Thursday, Jan. 31, 2002, at Titusville.
Arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Byham-Miller-Mizner Funeral Home Inc. of Meadville.

ELMER L. STERLING, 82
ERIE - Elmer L. Sterling, 82, of 33146 N. Main St., Townville, died at 6:40 p.m. Wednesday, July 31, 2002, in Hamot Medical Center, Erie.
Born June 13, 1920, at Troy Township, he was a son of the late Clifford and Jessie Steadman Sterling.
He marriage the former Lois J. Westfall on Jan. 6, 1949, in Erie; she survives.
He had attended the Troy Center School.
An Army veteran, he served in the European Theatre during World War II. He entered the service Feb. 18, 1942, at New Cumberland and was honorably discharged Nov. 19, 1945, at Indiantown Gap with the rank of private.
He had been self employed in the timber business for 20 years. He had also been employed by PennDOT as an equipment operator until retiring in 1983.
He was a member of the First Assembly of God and a life member of Bruce Shorts Post 5958 Veterans of Foreign Wars.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also enjoyed music and had once auditioned at Nashville, Tenn.
Survivors include: three sons and their wives, the Rev. Jay and Jeri Sterling of Union City and the Rev. David and Carol Sterling and Kevin and Sue Sterling, all of Titusville; a daughter, Mrs. Robert (Michelle) Bowers of Titusville; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; a great-grandson; and many nieces and nephews.
Two brothers, Leroy Sterling and Emerson Sterling; and a sister, Hazel Madden, died previously.
Friends may call Saturday at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home from 1 to 3 p.m., when the funeral will be conducted by the Rev. Terry Bidwell, pastor of Titusville First Assembly of God.
Interment will be in Jerusalem Comers Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Titusville First Assembly of God, 103 Union St.

LYNN GASCHE LEVINSON, 72
MILLCREEK TOWNSHIP - Word has been received that Lynn Gasche Levinson, 72, of Erie and Chautauqua, N.Y., died Monday, Sept. 2, 2002, at Springhill Retirement Community, Millcreek Township, Erie County.
Born Sept. 23, 1929, at Pittsburgh, she was a daughter of the late Fred and Martha Stern Gasche. Her father had been employed by Struthers Wells until he moved to Erie, where he founded and operated Autoclave Engineering Co. He died in Erie in 1966.
She was marriage to James C. Levinson; he died Nov. 13, 2001.
A Titusville High School alumna, she was a graduate of Carnegie Institute Technology.
She served on several boards of directors, including the Erie Philharmonic, Erie Art Museum, Penn State-Behrend, Temple Anshe Hesed and the United Way of Erie County.
For many years she was involved with the Chautauqua Institution Foundation board of directors and also was a member of Chautauqua's board of trustees.
She lived for 25 years in Key Largo, Fla., where she sang and played piano for the Ginger Snaps of Ocean Reef.
Survivors include: a son and daughter-in-law, Dr. Peter G. and Leslie Levinson of Erie; two daughters, Jane Levin Kerschner and her husband, Charles, of Chevy Chase, Md., and Andrea Levinson Stern and her husband, Michael, of Cleveland; and 10 grandchildren.
A service was conducted at noon Sept. 5 at Telmple Anshe Hesed, 930 Liberty St., Erie, by Rabbi John Bush.
Interment was in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Erie.
Memorials may be made to the Erie Philharmonic, 101 State St., Erie, Pa. 16512; or the Chautauqua Institution Symphony Orchestra, Chautauqua, N.Y., 14722.

DOROTHY O. BAIRD, 87
ERIE - Dorothy O. Baird, 87, of 417 N. Petroleum St. died at 1:16 p.m. Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, in St. Vincent Health Center, Erie.
Born Aug. 14, 1915, at Titusville, she was a daughter of the late Evar A. and Anna Billstone Olson.
She marriage Alfred J. "Bud" Baird on June 29, 1952, at Titusville; he died Oct. 15, 1997.
She had been employed as a bookkeeper-accountant for the former Mitchell Insurance Agency and the former Veach's Furniture Store in Oil City. After World War II, she worked in the hammer mill department at Universal Cyclops Specialty Steel Corp.
She was a member of Emanuel Lutheran Church and had been an active member of its altar guild for her entire life.
She also belonged to Titusville Woman's Club.
Survivors include: four sons, William A. Baird of Erie, Joseph L. Baird of Hummelstown, Richard R. Smedley of Somerville, N.J., and Raymond W. Smedley of Green Pond, N.J.; a daughter, Nancy Baird Hasted of Wilmington, Del.; 12 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
A brother, Raymond Olson; and two sisters, Ruth J. Olson and Florene Olson Milliken, died previously.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 p.m. Monday at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home. A memorial service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday in Emanuel Lutheran Church by the Rev. Kathleen Meyers, pastor.
Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Emanuel Lutheran Church's Dorothy Olson Baird Memorial Fund, 220 W. Elm St., Titusville, Pa. 16354.

AGNES A. BODDORF, 83
Agnes A. Boddorf, 83, died at 3:17 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 30, 2003, in Beverly Healthcare, Titusville, where she had lived since Jan. 29, 1993.
Funeral arrangements are incomplete and will be announced by the Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home Inc.

STERNS M. LAW, 90
Mr. Sterns M. Law, 90, of 527 Allen St., Titusville, died at 1:35 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2003, at the Beverly Healthcare. He had been a resident there for the past year.
Mr. Law was bom on Aug. 14, 1912, in Ridgeway to the late Charles H. and Rose Abiggland Law. He marriage Genevieve Krise on April 7, 1934, in Ridgeway. Mrs. Law survives and resides at Beverly Healthcare.
He was formerly employed at National Forge in Irvine from 1945 to 1960. He then moved to Pomona, Calif., and was a member of the Carpenters Union of Southern California United Brotherhood Carpenters and Joiners of America with 40 years of service.
Mr. Law was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife of Titusville; one son, Sterns M. Law II and his wife, Barbara, of Millington, Tenn.; two daughters, Mrs. Gloria A. Kutska of Titusville and Mrs. Candace Taylor and husband, Patrick, of Houston, Texas; nine grandchildren including Mrs. Cheri Finlan and husband, Gary, of Titusville; 15 great grandchildren including Jayna, Nicholas and Christopher Finlan of Titusville; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one grandson, five brothers and four sisters.
Friends may call at the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and attend the funeral service from the funeral home on Monday at 11 a.m.
Internment will be in Warren County Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions may be made to American Cancer Society, 201 N. Franklin St., Titusville, Pa. 16354 or to Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of the National Parkinson Foundation, 6470 Monitor St., Pittsburgh, Pa. 15217.

JANET I. DEVERTS, 71
Miss Janet I. Deverts, 71, of 227 Water St. (Billie Brown Building) died at 7:40 a.m. Friday, Jan. 22, 1999, at Titusville Area Hospital.
Miss Deverts was born on Nov. 11, 1927, in Titusville to the late William F. and Gladys Emerson Deverts.
She was a graduate of Titusville High School, class of 1945.
Miss Deverts was employed by Quality Markets as head cashier for 30 years until her retirement in 1979.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Friendship Club and she enjoyed bowling and golf.
Miss Deverts is survived by one sister, Mrs. Marjorie Warner of Titusville; two nieces: Mrs. Jack (Paula) Bittenbender of Titusville, RD 3, and Mrs. Blaine (Chris) Small of Tionesta; two nephews, Arnold and his wife Pam Warner of Titusville, RD 5, and Stephen Warner of Pleasantville, RD 1, several great-nieces and nephews, and great-great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers, Robert and William Deverts.
No calling hours will be observed. A memorial service will be conducted for family and friends from the Gordon B. Garrett Funeral Home Thursday at 11 a.m. with Rev. Louis Spyes, pastor of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, 216 N. Perry St., Titusville or to the charity of one's choice.

MARY C. LUKE, 71
Mary C. Luke, 71, of Grand Valley, RD 1, died at 7:15 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 21, 1999, at Titusville Area Hospital, where she had been admitted the previous day.
Mrs. Luke was born in Titusville on Sept. 7, 1927, the daughter of Henry and Loretta Madden Conway.
She marriage Blaine H. Luke on June 26, 1948, in Clymer, N.Y. He survives.
Mrs. Luke was employed by Western Union in Titusville during World War II. She also was employed by Struthers-Wells Corporation during the late 1940s and by Oil City Glass Co. (Foster-Forbes) from 1969 to 1974.
She was a former member of Enterprise Homemakers.
Mrs. Luke enjoyed camping with her husband at Paradise Bay Park of Findley Lake, New York.
Also surviving are two children, Gloria Luke Roberts of DuBois and Clark L. Luke of Grand Valley, RD 1; three grandchildren; two brothers, William Conway of Greenville and Robert Conway of Titusville; and several nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends of Mrs. Luke will be received today from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at Leo N. Hennes Funeral Home, where the funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday with Pastor Tim Cotton of Midway Alliance Church officiating. Interment will be in Neilltown Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Grand Valley Volunteer Fire Dept., Grand Valley, 16420, or to the American Cancer Association, 201 N. Franklin St., Titusville,16354.
