Anna Wiester Hill, 84, of Florissant, Mo., formerly of Slickville, died Monday, Nov. 22, 1999. She was born Aug. 8, 1915, in Franklin Township, a daughter of the late Albertiss R. and Gertrude E. Beaver Wiester. She was a member of the Poke Run Presbyterian Church, Apollo. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roy Hill; and two sisters, Alice Kemerer and Alma Walker. She is survived by a stepson, William Fred Hill of Maryland; two stepdaughters, Alice Catherine Rice of Kansas and Dee Genevieve Akers of Virginia; a sister, Mrs. Bertha Miller, of Slickville; a brother-in-law, Dean Walker, of Greensburg; four step-grandchildren; a step-great-grandchild; and numerous nieces and nephews. Friends are being received at the EDWIN N. WOLFE FUNERAL HOME INC., Export, Saturday and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at the funeral home Monday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Wayne C. Blaser officiating. Interment Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont.
Elizabeth M. (Clement) Vairus, 88, of Sutersville, died Tuesday, Nov. 23, 1999, at her home. She was born March 12, 1911, in West Newton, a daughter of the late Dominic and Sylvia DiSantis Clement. She was a member of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Sutersville. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Vairus, in 1976; and three brothers, Tony, John and Vincent Clement. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Jean Vairus of Sutersville; two brothers, Wittie Clement and wife, Marie, of Sutersville and Frank Clement of Turtle Creek; four sisters, Mary Ferree of Sutersville, Esther Heskey of Youngwood, Eleanor Gras and husband, Bill, and Sylvia Boes and husband, Werner, all of West Newton; also a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and two great-great-nephews. Friends will be received at the J. WILLIAM McCAULEY JR. FUNERAL HOME INC., West Newton, Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday in St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, Sutersville, with the Rev. James D. Vasil as celebrant. Interment West Newton Cemetery. The rosary will be recited Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. in the funeral home.
Elinore M. Allison, of Mt. Pleasant, died Thursday, Nov. 25, 1999, in the Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant. She was born in Scottdale, a daughter of the late Charles and Edith June Myer Milliron. She retired from the Mt. Pleasant Area School District after 35 years of service. During this time she was the secretary at Ramsay High School and following the jointure of the Mt. Pleasant Borough and Mt. Pleasant Township school districts, she was the first business manager until her retirement. She was a member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of God, a life member of the Westmoreland Chapter of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees, and a member of the Pennsylvania Association of School Retirees and the Women's Club of Mt. Pleasant. She is survived by her husband, Howard J. Allison; a stepson, Thomas H. Allison of Plum Borough; a brother, Charles E. Milliron and his wife, Lillian, of Rockwood; a sister, Marjorie Murtha of Mt. Pleasant; and nine nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Robert C. Milliron. Friends will be received in the BROOKS FUNERAL HOME INC., 406 E. Washington St., Mt. Pleasant, Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Charles Yost officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Joy Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant Township.
Fred M. Prah Sr., 78, of Derry (Peanut), died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, at his home. He was born Feb. 19, 1921, in New Derry, a son of the late John and Louise Lekse Prah. He was a lifelong member of St. Martin's Church, New Derry. He was retired from the Latrobe Steel Co., and was a World War II veteran, having served six years in the U.S. Army in the European Theatre. During the war, he was a small arms weapons mechanic responsible for inspection and repairs on all types of hand and shoulder weapons and machine guns. He was a loving husband and father, and an avid hunter and outdoorsman who also enjoyed gardening. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by three brothers, Louis, John and Joseph Prah; and three sisters, Mary Ream, Rose Benedict and Frances Opatka. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mary A. Rick Prah; two sons, Fred Prah Jr. and special friend, Diane Williams, of Shaler Township and James Prah and his wife, Gretchen, of Latrobe; five daughters, Janet McNaughton and her husband, Philip, of New Alexandria, Diana Kostelnik and her husband, Anthony, of Latrobe, Carol Downs and her husband, George, of Loyalhanna, Mary Prah of New Derry, and Donna Hogue and her husband, Marvin, of Blairsville; and a brother, Rudolph Prah of Derry. Also survived by eight grandchildren, Christina Downs and her husband, Ray Rager, Eliott Downs and his wife, Janice, Emilie Kostelnik and her fiance, Arthur Ray, Kimberly Kostelnik, Jodi Kostelnik, Ryan McNaughton, Douglas Prah and Heather Prah; a great-granddaughter, Jessica; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the JOHN J. LOPATICH FUNERAL HOME INC., 601 Weldon St., Latrobe. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 11 a.m. in St. Martin's Church with the Rev. Arthur J. Holtz, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment St. Martin's Cemetery. Military services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Monday in the funeral home.
Ernest O. Watt, 85, of Casselberry, Fla., formerly of Irwin, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 1999, in Florida Hospital, Altamonte Springs, Fla. He was born in Export. He had retired after 42 years with Huwood-Irwin Corp. as a fabricator/welder in steel manufacturing. He is survived by his wife, Doris V. Watt of Casselberry, Fla.; three sons, David James Watt of Orange City, Fla., Robert E. Watt of Deltona, Fla., and Todd B. Watt of Vero Beach, Fla.; two daughters, Virginia A. Heywood of Lakeland, Fla., and Cynthia Louise Goembel of Longwood, Fla.; a brother, Charles James Watt of Export; a sister, Florence Good of Jeannette; and eight grandchildren. Services and burial were conducted Tuesday, Nov. 16, at the DELTONA MEMORIAL FUNERAL HOME AND CEMETERY, Orange City, Fla.
James H. Altman, 43, of Penn Township, died Saturday, Nov. 27, 1999, in his home. He was born May 10, 1956, in Pittsburgh, a son of Barbara Schrock Altman of Claridge and the late Walter J. Altman. He was employed as a mechanic for Export Tire. He was a member of the Bushy Run American Legion Post #260 in Claridge, and the S.N.P.J. of Pleasant Valley. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife, Renee O'Connell Altman; a son, John D. Pullen of Jeannette; two daughters, Marion and husband, Eric Barr, of Pittsburgh and Melanie Altman of Export; a brother, Mark A. Altman of Cleveland, Ohio; and a sister, Cheryl and husband, William Holman, of Claridge. Friends will be received at the JAMES E. LINDSAY FUNERAL HOME INC., Main Street, Harrison City, Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Milton Nichols officiating. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1011 Old Salem Road, Greensburg, PA 15601.
Robert F. Conley, 88, of Export, died Wednesday, Nov. 24, 1999, at his home. He was born Oct. 30, 1911, in Valencia, the son of the late Joseph Earl and Margaret Blanche Ludwick Conley. He was a retired supervisor for the Central Division of the Peoples Natural Gas Co. with 42 years of service. He was a member and former trustee of the First Presbyterian Church of Murrysville; a member of the Forbes Trail Lodge #783 F&AM; The Consistory, Valley of Pittsburgh, and the Syria Shrine. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Jonathan Conley Hild, in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Helen Fausold Conley; two daughters, Barbara Conley Hild of Pulaski and Linda Conley of Petaluma, Calif.; a granddaughter, Joanna Hild Bentz of Lawrenceville, Ga.; and a great-grandson, Christopher Jonathan Bentz. Interment will be private in the Mars Cemetery, Adams Township. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 30, at 3 p.m. in the First Presbyterian Church of Murrysville with Dr. T. Ewen Holmes officiating. If desired, memorials may be made to the Church Building Fund.
Alvin B. Costabile, 75, of Youngwood and Greensburg, died Friday, Nov. 26, 1999, as a result of a heart attack. He was born in Greensburg, Sept. 23, 1924, and was a son of the late John and Josephine Costabile. He had served in the U.S. Army during World War II, and was a retired employee of the former Overmyer Mould Co. in Greensburg. He was Catholic by faith and a member of the VFW. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Yvonne Dull Costabile; and two brothers, Henry and Louis Costabile. He is survived by his children, Kathy Kapalka of Wexford, Jerri Keller of Boston, Mass., Alvin Costabile, and John and his wife, Jackie Costabile, all of Greensburg; his sister, Rosajean Gaskey of Greensburg; brother, Donald Costabile of Hueytown, Ala.; and five grandchildren, Allison and Paul Kapalka, Yvonne, Johnny and Jamie Costabile. Family and friends will be received at the KEPPLE-GRAFT FUNERAL HOME, 524 N. Main St., Greensburg, Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 10 a.m., followed by interment
in Greensburg Catholic Cemetery. The family wishes memorial contributions to the American Heart Association.
