Ronald E. Howard, 63, of Holiday Park Drive, Plum, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, in UPMC Shadyside, Pittsburgh. Born June 22, 1936, in New Kensington, he had been a resident of Plum most of his life. Mr. Howard was a 1954 graduate of Plum High School and a Navy veteran during the Korean conflict, where he attained the rank of Boiler Maker, 2nd Class. He was employed for 30 years by the H.J. Heinz Co. of Pittsburgh as an instrumentation technician, retiring in June of 1998. Mr. Howard was a member of Plum Creek Lodge Free and Accepted Masons. He enjoyed fishing. Survivors include his wife of 37 years, Donna Eiler Howard; a son, Daniel C. Howard of Pittsburgh; a daughter, Mrs. John (Roni S.) Mozina of Washington Township; five grandchildren; and three sisters, Dorothy Keibler and Mrs. Leroy (Doris) Keaton, both of Plum, and Mrs. Newton (Hetty) Wilson of Upper Burrell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer and Blanche McLaughlin Howard. The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the ROSS G. WALKER FUNERAL HOME LTD., a family-owned and -operated funeral home, 217 Freeport Road, New Kensington, where a funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday. The Rev. Frank DeLuce, pastor of the Unity United Presbyterian Church of Murrysville, will officiate. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Park, Lower Burrell. Those desiring may contribute in his memory to the building fund of the Unity United Presbyterian Church, 215 Unity Trestle Road, Pittsburgh, PA. Members of Plum Creek Masonic Lodge will assemble at 7:30 p.m. Monday in the funeral home for memorial services.
Frank W. Irwin, 86, of Mesa, Ariz., formerly of Irwin, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, at Valley Lutheran Hospital, Mesa, Ariz. He was born Dec. 22, 1912, in Irwin, a son of the late Howard F. and Mary Verner Irwin. He was a graduate of the Norwin Class of 1913, owner of Irwin's Market, a member of the Irwin Lions Club, former member of the First Presbyterian Church of Irwin, and a member of the Church of the Master, Mesa, Ariz. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wives, Cecilia Yost Irwin and Jean C. Cochran Irwin; and a sister, Mary Catherine Shivley. He is survived by a daughter, Betty J. Dalton of Rolling Hills, Calif.; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Holowenko of West Lafayette, Ind., and Adele Niesner of Johnstown; also nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the WILLIAM SNYDER FUNERAL HOME, 521 Main St., Irwin, Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 1 p.m. in the funeral home with the Rev. Robert C. Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Irwin Union Cemetery.
Theresa M. (Toth) Kempka, 71, of Slickville, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, in her loving home. She was born Nov. 24, 1927, in Slickville, a daughter of the late Laslo and Teresa (Molitoricz) Toth. A graduate of the Franco Beauty Academy of New Kensington, she was proprietor of Theresa Kempka Beauty Salon of Slickville. Theresa was a member of St. Sylvester's Church and its Rosary Altar Society. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Julius, Louis and William Toth; and two sisters, Mary Majoris and Helen Christian. Theresa is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Henry J. Kempka; six daughters, Mary Anne Overly and husband, Mack, and Theresa Marie Wetzel and husband, James, both of Delmont, Bernadette Caranese and husband, Blase, of New Alexandria, Loretta Bell and husband, Phillip, of Latrobe, Monica Slaughenhoupt and husband, John, of North Carolina, and Deborah Bozik and husband, Steve, of Ashburn, Va.; three sons, Joseph Kempka, John Kempka and wife, Cindy, and Martin Kempka and wife, Denise, all of Greensburg; a brother, Father Simon Toth, O.S.B., of St. Vincent Archabbey of Latrobe; three sisters, Anna Davis of Bay City, Mich., Elizabeth Kurant of Slickville and Margaret Stepic of Export; 14 delightful grandchildren, Melissa Cararini and husband, Samuel, Nicholas, Matthew and Michael Kempka, Marc and Stephen Wetzel, Jeremy, Justin, Joshua and Jordan Kempka, Alicia and Blase Caranese III, Lindsey Bell and Angela Bozik; and numerous nieces and nephews. Family and friends received at the VAIA FUNERAL HOME INC. AT TWIN VALLEY, 463 Athena Drive, Delmont, (724) 468-1177, beginning Sunday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Theresa's Funeral Mass will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in St. Sylvester's Church, Slickville, with Father Simon Toth, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, Delmont. A vigil service will be held Monday at 8 p.m. in the funeral home. Kevin P. Altman, supervisor, in charge.
Agnes G. Sefcheck Marchewka, 91, formerly of Everson, died Sunday morning, Nov. 7, 1999, in Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. She was born Jan. 5, 1908, in Owensdale, a daughter of the late Michael and Mary Siwula (Sczwczyk) Sefcheck. Agnes was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, Everson, and the church's Holy Rosary Society. She was a member of the Everson Senior Citizens Organization. Agnes was well-known for her crocheting of afghans, slippers and scarfs, and was an avid bingo player. Agnes leaves to cherish her memories her daughter, Genevieve E. Shumar and her husband, Jack, of Mt. Pleasant; a son, Walter L. "Muff" Marchewka of Connellsville; 12 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Elizabeth Zimmerman of Pittsburgh, Bridget Marchewka of Connellsville, and Helen Treacy of Mt. Pleasant; and a brother, Joseph Sefcheck and his wife, Marge, of Johnstown. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Leo W. Marchewka, on Nov. 1, 1973; a son, Thomas Marchewka, in 1996; three brothers, Peter Sefcheck, on Oct. 27, 1969, Walter P. Sefcheck, on Nov. 18, 1976, and Andrew Sefcheck, on Jan. 4, 1995; and a sister, Dorothy Hrimnak, in July of 1998. Agnes' family will receive friends in the FRANK KAPR FUNERAL HOME INC., 417 W. Pittsburgh St., Scottdale, Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. in the funeral home, followed by her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph R.C. Church, Everson, with the Rev. Dennis A. Bogusz, as principal celebrant, and the Revs. Francis Lesniowski and Michael W. Matusak con-celebrating. Interment will follow in St. Joseph R.C. Parish Cemetery, Everson. St. Joseph Holy Rosary Society will recite the rosary Tuesday at 2 p.m. and a parish wake service will be held at 8 p.m., both in the funeral home.
Sarah A. "Sally" Powers Marshall, 63, of Forest Hills, on Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999. Wife of Edward W. Marshall. Mother of Edward W. Jr. of East Pittsburgh, Ginny Lynn Szekely of North Braddock, Sarah Jane Spiro of Florida and Michael of White Oak. Sister of Bernie Powers of Levittown, Pa., Bernice O'Connor of Turtle Creek, Leah Cunningham of White Oak, Mary Jo Shidel of White Oak, James Powers of North Huntingdon, John Powers of East McKeesport and Jerry Powers of North Versailles. Anna Mary "Pat" McGann-Echement passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, at Country Meadows, Bridgeville, where she had been a resident since 1993, after the passing of her second husband, Roy Echement. Mary Pat, as she was known, was born Feb. 27, 1914, to O.E. and Florence Hartman, near Frostburg, Md. She was raised in Connellsville, where she married F.J. "Mac" McGann in 1934, and moved to Latrobe, where she raised two sons, Jim, who lives in Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., and who has three daughters and four grandchildren; and Neil, who lives in Titusville, Fla., and has two children. After "Mac" McGann passed away, Mary Pat moved to Pittsburgh and trained to become a nurse's aide in acute care, and retired from St. Clair Hospital in Mt. Lebanon in 1981. Friends may call at the LAUGHLIN FUNERAL HOME, 222 Washington Road, Mt. Lebanon, Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Private interment

Regis E. McGinty, 77, passed away Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, after a short illness. Regis was a World War II U.S. Army Air Corps veteran, and a retired machinist with Cooper Industries in Grove City, where he was employed for 33 years. Regis was an avid hunter and fisherman, as well as an accomplished wildlife and outdoor artist. He was also a lifetime member of the Mercer American Legion Post 159. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Evelyn McGinty of Grove City; their children, Mary Ellen Collins and her husband, John, of Phoenix, Ariz., Carol McGinty of Pittsburgh, Kevin McGinty and his wife, Carlie, of Pittsburgh, and Susan McGinty of Pittsburgh; four grandchildren, Patrick, Emily, John and Anne McGinty, all of Pittsburgh; and his sister and two brothers, Katherine Chmura of Meadville, George McGinty of Melbourne, Fla., and Eugene McGinty of New Canaan, Conn. Mr. McGinty was preceded in death by his parents, Patrick and Mary Schiestle McGinty; and a sister and two brothers, Dorothy Gregory of Grove City, Donald McGinty and Francis McGinty, both of Detroit, Mich. Friends may call Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the CUNNINGHAM FUNERAL HOME INC., 306 Bessemer Ave., Grove City, (724-458-7790). A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 1O a.m. at the Church of The Beloved Disciple, Grove City. Mary E. Moff, 85, of Latrobe, died Sunday, Nov. 7, 1999, in the Latrobe Area Hospital. She was born May 28, 1914, in New Alexandria, a daughter of the late Nicholas and Carmella (Christopher) Palladino. Mary was Catholic by faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Moff, in 1997; three sisters, Florence Bigi, Marie Stayer, and Rose Berginc; and five brothers, Michael, Dom, Joseph, Anthony, and Patsy Palladino. She is survived by two children, Linda M. St. Clair of Latrobe and Eugene J. Moff and his wife, Gloria, of Atlanta, Ga.; two grandchildren, Jennifer and Rachel Moff; a sister, Giovanna "Jenny" Bucci and her husband, John, of Latrobe; and a number of nieces and nephews. There will be no visitation. A private blessing service and private interment
in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Jeannette, will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice. The HARTMAN-GRAZIANO FUNERAL HOME INC., 1500 Ligonier St., Latrobe, (724) 537-5575, is in charge of arrangements.
Mary M. Pavlik, 99, of South Greensburg, died Saturday, Nov. 6, 1999, in the Hempfield Manor. She was born May 26, 1900, in Hecla, a daughter of the late Emery and Anna Bortnik Polocosky. She was the oldest charter member of St. Bruno Catholic Church, South Greensburg; a member of the Rosary Altar Society of St. Bruno Church; the Living Rosary Society; Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Seton #306, Greensburg; and the Jednota Ladies Lodge Branch 277. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew S. Pavlik, in 1976; two daughters, Rita and Eleanor Pavlik; two brothers, John and James Polocosky; and a sister, Anna Polocosky. She is survived by her son, Raymond L. Pavlik of South Greensburg; a granddaughter, Linda L. Grec of Atlanta, Ga.; two sisters, Helen Beers of East Palestine, Ohio, and Elizabeth Sova of Latrobe; and several nieces and nephews. Friends will be received at the BACHA FUNERAL HOME INC., 516 Stanton at Green streets, Greensburg, Monday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. A blessing service will be held in the funeral home Tuesday at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10 a.m. in St. Bruno Catholic Church, South Greensburg, with the Rev. Blane L. Resko, O.S.B., as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Greensburg Catholic Cemetery, Hempfield Township. The Rosary Altar Society of St. Bruno Church and the Catholic Daughters of the Americas #306 will meet at the funeral home Monday at 3 p.m. to pray the rosary.
Sophia Frances (Rafacz) Randolph, 85, of Orange Park, Fla., formerly of Mt. Pleasant, died Friday, Nov. 5, 1999, in Doctors Lake Health Care, Orange Park, Fla. Friends will be received Monday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at GALONE-CARUSO'S, 204 Eagle St., Mt. Pleasant. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Transfiguration Roman Catholic Church, Mt. Pleasant. Interment Transfiguration Parish Cemetery, Mt. Pleasant. The Transfiguration Holy Rosary Society will recite the rosary in the funeral home Tuesday at 7 p.m.
