Grady Otis Johnson

MT. CROGHAN - Mr. Grady Otis Johnson, age 75, went home to be with his Lord, Friday, December 13, 2013.

A funeral service was held at 4:00 P.M. Monday, December 16, 2013 at the Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Mt. Croghan Memorial Park.

Visitation was from 3:00 – 4:00 P. M. Monday, December 16, 2013 prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Johnson was born June 20, 1938, in Mt. Croghan, SC, a son of the late Rufus W. and Kate Thurman Johnson. He was a retired Purchasing Manager with Seal Right. Grady was a faithful member of the Mt. Croghan Baptist Church, where he served in many capacities, including Deacon, Sunday school teacher, and the Building and Grounds Committee. In addition to his parents, Grady was also preceded in death by a brother, Keith Johnson.

Survivors include Wife of 55 years, Shirley Tucker Johnson of the home; 2 Sons: Tony C.

(Sherry) Johnson and Scott (Kim) Johnson both of Mt. Croghan, SC; 4 Grandchildren: Jake (Crystal) Johnson, Jeremy (Brittany) Johnson, Lindsey (Gary) DeSanits, and Ryne (Bethany) Johnson; 3 Great Grandchildren: Michael Lane, Grady Wade, and Trinity Victoria Johnson; 2 Brothers: Bobby (Doris) Johnson of Ruby, SC and Mickey (Pat) Johnson of Monroe, NC; and

1 Sister: Margaret (Johnny) Hinson of Lancaster, SC.

Christine Short Parker

CHERAW - Mrs. Christine Short Parker, age 88, died Tuesday, December 24, 2013.

A funeral service was held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, December 26, 2013 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield, SC. Interment followed in Brock’s Mill Baptist Church Cemetery.

Visitation was from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Thursday December 26, 2013 prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Mrs. Parker was born September 23, 1925, in Wadesboro, NC, a daughter of the late Daniel and Rosa Trexler Short. She was a graduate of Deep Creek High School and McIntyre School of Beauty. Mrs. Parker was a retired cosmetologist and former owner and operator of Christine’s Beauty Shop and was a secretary for her husband in the Magistrate’s office. She enjoyed sewing and cooking. Christine was a member of the Brock’s Mill Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, Christine was also preceded in death by her husband, Royce J. Parker, a grandson, James Truett Hodge, by her 5 sisters, Ollie Wright, Janie Gaddy, Sallie Brock, Louise Short, and Eunice Short, and by 2 brothers, Wilson Short and Wilburn Short.

Survivors include 3 Daughters: Terry P. Lear, Nancy P. (Greg) White and Patti P. Hancock all of Cheraw, SC; 4 Grandchildren: Wendell (Lori) Lear, Wayne (Barbara) Wallace, and Jay and Samatha Hancock; 2 Step Grandchildren: Brandy (William) Griggs and Ryan “Ko Jack” (Charlene) White; 4 Great Grandchildren: Robin, Hannah, and Hayden Lear, and Parker Wallace; 1 Great Great Grandchild: Michael Marsh, Jr.; and 1 Brother: Virgil Short of Murrells Inlet, SC.

Kyril Boyadjieff

PAGELAND - Kyril Boyadjieff, 85, died December 17, 2013.

A graveside service was held at 1:00 PM Friday, December 20, 2013 at Greenlawn Memorial Park of Pageland.

Visitation was from 12:00 – 1:00 PM Friday, December 20, 2013 at Baumgartner Funeral Home Chapel.

Mr. Kyril Boyadjieff was born in Schumen, Bulgaria to the late Konstantin and Elsa Dagen Boyadjieff. He was later united in marriage to Lisa H. Mr. Boyadjieff is preceded in death by his wife Lisa H. Boyadjieff since March of 2010 and his Grandson, Kyril Kenneth Hinson.

Survivors include Daughter, Angelika B. Vogt (Paul) of Duncan, SC; Granddaughter, Andrea Michelle Hinson (Jeremy) of Hebron, CT; Grandson, Robert G. Hinson (Faye) of Woodruff, SC; and Five Great Grandchildren.

CHESTERFIELD - Mrs. Mildred Lee Davis, age 72, died Monday, December 16, 2013 at her home.

A funeral service was held at 11:00 AM, Thursday, December 19, 2013, at Sandy Plains United Methodist Church, Morven, NC. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.

Visitation was 5:00 – 7:00 PM, Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mrs. Davis was born July 20, 1941 in Greeleyville, SC a daughter of the late Willie Walter and Edna Sports Lee. She was a homemaker and a former textile employee and retail clerk. Mildred was a member of Sandy Plains United Methodist Church. She enjoyed working puzzles, reading her Bible and devotional, and spending time and doing things for her grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Mildred was also preceded in death by her husband, Robert D. Davis, her brothers, Carl E. Lee and Willie F. Sports, and by her sisters Myrle L. Lang and Shirley J. Lee.

Survivors include 2 Sons: Ricky Davis and Jimmy Sikes both of Chesterfield, SC; 2 Daughters: Teresa (Larry) Smith and Tammy (Robert) Adams both of Chesterfield, SC;

Special Son: Jeffery (Tammy) Flowers of Catawba, NC; 6 Grandchildren: Rick and Chase Davis, Emily and Ethan Smith, and Brittany and Joshua Adams; Special Nephew: Steve Goodale; and

Friends and Caregivers: Lisa Smith and Moe Zwiefka.

PATRICK - Mr. John Lloyd Finch, age 82, died Friday, December 20, 2013.

A funeral service was held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 26, 2013, at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield, SC. Interment followed in the Shiloh United Methodist Church with Military Honors.

Visitation was from 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Thursday, December 26, 2013, prior to the service at the Funeral Home.

Mr. Finch was born October 3, 1931, in Margaretteville, NY, a son of the late Belle Finch. He was a retired Road Construction Foreman and a member of Shiloh United Methodist Church. John was a U.S. Marine Veteran of the Korean War. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and was an avid animal lover.

Survivors include Wife of 57 years: Alma L. Finch of the home; Children: Rev. Sheryl Ann (Rev. Terrence) Padgett of Augusta, GA, Wayne C. (Seiko) Finch of Escondido, CA, Cindy Lou (Larry) Woolf of Mountain View, Md, and Joy (John) McGrath of Wake Forest, NC; 6 Grandchildren: Sean Harris, Isaac and Valentina Fehr, Kenny and Julie Finch, and C.J. and Ruthie Woolf.

Virginia 'Granny' Vaughan Haithcock

PAGELAND - Mrs. Virginia “Granny” Vaughan Haithcock, age 93, died Thursday, December 19, 2013.

A funeral service was held at 3:00PM, Sunday, December 22, 2013 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel, Chesterfield, SC. Interment followed in the Greenlawn Memorial Park, Pageland, SC.

Visitation was 2:00 – 3:00 PM, Sunday, December 22, 2013 prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Haithcock was born December 23, 1919 in Ruby, SC a daughter of the late William Catherine and Nezzie Leona Tucker Vaughan. She was a former seamstress having worked at SLS and Sacony, and was a member of Providence Baptist Church. Virginia enjoyed growing flowers and staying on the go. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband Charlie Edward Haithcock; two daughters, Helen Sikes and Dorothy Nadel; a brother, William C. Vaughan; and a sister, Leona C. Dalrymple.

Survivors include 1 Son: Eddie (Margaret) Haithcock of Bluffton, SC; 3 Daughters: Bonnie Jordan and Tillie (Bert) Jackson both of Pageland, SC and Wanda Goodall of Mint Hill, NC

1 Sister: Vera Mae Gay of Pageland, SC; Also 11 Grandchildren, 16 Great Grandchildren, and 14 Great, Great Grandchildren.

Jim Linton

CHERAW - Jim Linton, 90, died Tuesday, December 17, 2013. Born in Darlington County he was a son of John Henry and Sarah Wilson Linton. He was a World War II, US Army Veteran. Mr. Linton was retired from Delta Mills. He enjoyed fishing, working on lawn mowers and his dogs.

Surviving is his wife, Lessie Gainey Linton of Cheraw, SC, sons, Ronnie Linton of Hartsville, SC, Joey Linton of Cheraw, SC, J.C. Linton of Wallace, SC, ten grandchildren, eight great grandchildren and a nephew, David Linton of Cheraw, SC.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above and sons, Don Linton, John David Linton, Bob Linton, a brother, Wadis “Shorty” Linton and a sister, Rachel Gainey.

The family received friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, December 18, 2013 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC. A funeral service was held 3:00 PM Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Harris Creek Baptist Church, Society Hill, SC. Burial with military honors was in the church cemetery.

H. L. 'Boo' Truett

PATRICK - H. L. “Boo” Truett, age 44 of Patrick, SC, went to be with his Lord, in his sleep, on Friday, December, 13, 2013.

H. L. was born September 18, 1969 in Bakersfield, CA. to Polly Dixon McKenzie and the late Harry Lee Truett. H. L. was better known as “Boo” to his family and friends. He lived his life to the fullest. He enjoyed fishing, camping, working on his old cars, and spending time with his friends and family. In addition to his father, Boo was also preceded in death by two brothers, Randy and Jerry Truett, who have already went to meet the Lord.

H. L. leaves behind two daughters, Ashley (Vern) Murphy of McBee, SC and Elizabeth (Colby) Truett of Jefferson, SC.; one granddaughter, eighteen months old, who was his heart and everything, Kinnidi Grace “Cooter” Murphy; a very special mother, Polly McKenzie, who never left her son’s side, a brother, Jimmy (Tracy) Truett of Hamlet, NC, three sisters, Joann (John) Linn of Patrick, SC, Betty Jean (Jay) Ingram and Elaine (Dean) Starling both of Rockingham, NC., and also 6 nephews and 3 nieces.

A funeral service was held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 17, 2013, at Edwards Chapel Baptist Church. Interment followed in the Church Cemetery.

Visitation was 5:00 P.M. – until … Monday, December 16, 2013 at the home of Polly McKenzie, 496 Gunn Mill Road, Patrick, SC 29584.

CHESTERFIELD - Mr. Charles E. Evans, age 75, died Tuesday, December 10, 2013.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Thursday, December 12, 2013 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Cross Roads Baptist Church Cemetery, Ruby, SC, with Military Honors.

Visitation is 6:00 – 8:00 PM, Wednesday, December 11, 2013 at the funeral home.

Mr. Evans was born September 16, 1938, in Charlotte, NC, a son of the late Lee Roy and Eva Allie Griffin Evans. He was a retired Vice-President with Superior Ink in Charlotte, NC and was owner and operator of the Jewell City Flea Market. Charles was a U.S. Army Veteran and was a member of Oakland Baptist Church where he served as cook for the monthly prayer breakfast. In addition to his parents, Charles was also preceded in death by his first wife, Betsy Burr Evans, a daughter, Angie Evans Smith, and by four brothers.

Survivors include his Wife: Eva J. Evans of the home; 6 Sons: Bucky (Paulette) Evans and Bo Bo Evans of Chesterfield, SC, John Evans of Cheraw, SC, Chucky (Cynthia) Evans of Charlotte, NC, Virgil Evans of FL and Chuck Evans of UT; 3 Daughters: Jamie (Jamie Boy) Brown of Ruby, SC, Pam Bullock of Waxhaw, NC, and Karley Evans of the home; 1 Brother: Marvin (Dale) Evans of Marshville, NC; 1 Sister: Geraldine Atkinson of Pageland, SC; 1 Sister-in-law: Lucille Evans of Monroe, NC; Also a number of Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren;

4 Stepsons: Johnny, Wayne, and Jack Williams of Chesterfield, SC and Joe Williams of Cheraw, SC; 1 Stepdaughter: Vickie Davidson of Cheraw, SC; Also step granddaughter Nicole Williams and step great granddaughter Aria Williams.

Mr. Brock was born December 15, 1948 in Cheraw, SC, a son of the late Perry and Vera Johnson Brock. He was a 1967 graduate of Cheraw High School. James was a retired manager of Kimbrell’s Furniture Company in Laurinburg, NC, and a former manager in Cheraw, SC. In addition to his parents, James was also preceded in death by his brother, Claudius Brock.

Survivors include 1 Son: James P. “Jimmy” Brock of Shreveport, LA; 1 Daughter: Amanda B. (Lt. Col. Andrew) Griggs of Benton, LA; 2 Grandchildren: Andrew and Lizzie Griggs; Special Nephew: Joey (Sheila) Crowley of Cheraw, SC; 4 Sisters: Joyce Watts of Lilesville, NC, Annie R. Ostigny, Bessie (Gratton) Matthews, and Pat (Richard) Gaddy, all of Cheraw, SC; Also several other Nieces and Nephews.
