WALLACE - Robert Gerald "Nook" Taylor, 78, died Saturday June 18, 2016.

The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Monday, June 20, 2016 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service will be held 2:00 PM, Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church, Wallace, SC.

Burial with military honors will be in the church cemetery.

David Carlyle White

CHESTERFIELD - Mr. David Carlyle White, age 45, died Friday, June 17, 2016.

A graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, July 1, 2016, at Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Visitation will be immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall.

Mr. White was born February 15, 1971, in Chesterfield, SC a son of Baxter, Jr. and Bernadine White. He and his family lived in Pooler, GA for 16 years. David worked with Dent Wizard where he earned the 2008 Five Star Technician Award for over 5 states. He enjoyed spending time with his 2 children, Carlyle and Abigail White. He coached his son’s baseball and soccer games, and enjoyed following his daughter’s dance recitals. David also enjoyed cooking and playing golf, and his favorite pastime was watching sports on television.

Survivors include Children: Carlyle White and Abigail White; Parents: Baxter, Jr. and Bernadine White of Chesterfield, SC; Sister: Tamela Grice and husband, Richard of Wallace, SC; 2 Brothers: Forrest “Buck” White, III and wife, Leigh Ann, and Dennis White both; of Chesterfield, SC; Also: Numerous Nieces, Nephews, and Cousins.

Memorials may be made to Shiloh United Methodist Church, 3154 Hwy 102, Chesterfield, SC 29709; or to Hospice of Chesterfield County, P.O. Box 293, Chesterfield, SC 29709.

Edward Franklin 'Frank' Baker

CHERAW - Edward Franklin “Frank” Baker, Sr., 88, died Wednesday, October 5, 2016. Born in Wadesboro, NC he was a son of the late Edmond Everrett and Sallie Kate Huntley Baker. He was a member of St. David’s Episcopal Church, Cheraw, SC. He was a charter member of the Cheraw Rotary Club and the Cheraw Lions Club. He enjoyed flying, golf and singing (a member of the Cheraw Singers).

Surviving is his wife, Carolyn S. Baker of Cheraw, SC, sons, Andy (Wanda) Baker of Murrells Inlet, SC, Frank Baker, Jr. of Cheraw, SC, Wesley Baker of Surfside Beach, SC, Bill (Kimball) Baker of Murrells Inlet, SC, a brother, Alan Baker of Wadesboro, NC, a sister, Bettie Huntley of Southern Pines, NC, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above and a son, David Baker.

The family received friends 11:00 am to 2:00 pm, Monday, October 10, 2016 at the Baker home, 605 West Greene Street, Cheraw, SC

A graveside memorial service was held 2:00 pm, Monday, October 10, 2016 in Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens.

Lawrence Stanton Quick Sr.

CHERAW - Lawrence Stanton Quick, Sr., 91, died Sunday, October 9, 2016. Born in Marlboro County he was a son of the late Luther and Essie Quick. He was the widower of Grace Quick. He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. He was a US Navy Veteran.

Surviving are his sons, Lawrence “Stan” Quick Jr. of Wallace, SC, George Quick of Raleigh, NC, SC, Donnie Short of San Antonio, TX, daughters, Judy Quick of Wallace, SC, Cindy (Paul) Brooks of Wallace, SC, a brother, Frances Quick of Wallace, SC, a sister, Lucille Cagle of Columbia, SC, 12 grandchildren and 10 Great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife and parents listed above, a son, Ricky Quick, 4 brothers, and 2 sisters.

The family will receive friends 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at Kiser Funeral Home, Cheraw, SC

A funeral service will be held 10:00 AM, Thursday, October 13, 2016 at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Burial will be in the LDS Cemetery, Society Hill, SC.

Sarah K. ‘Sue’ Blackwell

CHESTERFIELD – Mrs. Sarah K. “Sue” Blackwell, age 74, went home to be with her Lord on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at her home surrounded by her loving family. Funeral Services were held at 4:00 PM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel by Pastor Tracy Gooding and Phillip Caulder, Jr. with burial following in the Bay Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 2:30 – 4:00 PM Saturday, prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Blackwell was born September 6, 1942 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Leon M. and Addie Bell Rivers Stafford. She was a retired employee of Weller/Cooper Tools with nearly 30 years of service, and a faithful member of Bay Springs Baptist Church. She enjoyed gardening, shopping with her family, and working in her flowers. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Sue was also preceded in death by her brothers, Charles M. Stafford, and Alvin J. Stafford.

Survivors include her husband of 48 years, Gandhi E. Blackwell of the home; 4 daughters, Darlene (Clifton) Keith of Ruby, SC, Glenda (Bryan) Slocum of Lancaster, SC, Tammy (Hatch) Rivers of Chesterfield, SC, Kim (Matthew) Hurley of Waldorf, MD; grandchildren, Jena (Austin) Owen of Cheraw, SC, Allen (Elisabeth) Dixon of Ruby, SC, Matthew Dixon of Hartsville, SC, Amy (Scott) Rivers of Ohio, Heather (William) Rivers of Chesterfield, SC, Amber (Robbie) Gainey of Hartsville, SC, Nicholas Hurley and Shauna Hurley both of Waldorf, MD; 6 great grandchildren, Wyatt, Gus, Brock, Hunter, Liam, and Lily; 2 brothers, Steve M. (Mary Alice) Stafford, and Joe E. Stafford both of Cheraw, SC; 1 sister, Linda S. (Charles “Dave”) Price of Camden, SC, Sister-in-law, Christine Stafford of Cheraw, SC; also numerous nieces and nephews.

PAGELAND – Irene Chambers, 95, died on Monday, September 19, 2016. Funeral services were held on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at 2PM from Union Hill Missionary Baptist Church, Pageland, SC. Burial followed in the church cemetery. She was born on September 25, 1921 in Chesterfield County, SC to the late David and Clara Alsbrook. Survivors: two sons, Lonnie Chambers of the home and Luther Chambers, Pageland, SC; a daughter, Fannie Louallen, Brooklyn, NY; a sister, Essie Huntley of Philadelphia, PA; nineteen grandchildren, fifty-nine great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. Flemming Funerals-Pageland was in charge. .

Jennie Mae Poole Curtis

COLUMBIA - Mrs. Jennie Mae Poole Curtis, age 96, entered into rest on Saturday, September 24, 2016 at her home. Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday, September 27, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Susan Culler with burial to follow in the Shiloh United Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will greet friends from 10:00 – 11:00 AM Tuesday prior to the service at the funeral home.

Mrs. Curtis was born May 9, 1920 in Chesterfield, SC a daughter of the late Frank and Carrie Blalock Poole. She was a graduate of Pfeiffer College and a retired employee of Federal Land Bank with over 30 years of service. Mrs. Curtis was a faithful member of Washington Street United Methodist Church where she was very active and dedicated to the Soup Kitchen Ministry. She was the recipient of the Woman of the Year award in 2002 presented by her church family. Jennie Mae enjoyed gardening, and sharing her vegetables with neighbors and friends. She loved her family, and was very instrumental in planning and organizing family reunions, and attending the annual Poole family “Cousin’s Walk.”

In addition to her parents, Jennie Mae was preceded in death by her beloved husband, LeRoy Curtis; 3 brothers, John Milton, Howard Y., and Don Poole; 4 sisters, Myrtis Poole, Evelyn P. Ellis, Marguerite P. Snipes, Martha Lucille P. Gayle; and 1 nephew, John P. Causey, III.

Survivors include her sister, Catherine Causey of Conway, SC; 2 sisters-in-law, Lois A. Poole, and Josephine S. “Joker” Poole both of Chesterfield, SC; nieces and nephews, Gary Poole of Atlanta, GA, Irvin Poole of Chesterfield, SC, Patsy Keith of Cheraw, SC, Mickey Lockey of Cheraw, SC, Edward Poole of Atlanta, GA, Mary Murray of Spring Hope, NC, Saundra McLeod of Sumter, SC, and Lynn Gayle of Onancock, VA; her adopted family of the heart, Kelli (Dr. Rodney) Rhinehart of Columbia, SC and their children, Gabrielle, Hamilton, and Ellie whom she was affectionately known to as “Me-Maw”; Special Caregiver, Brenda Hutto of Columbia, SC, and a host of friends that were very special to her.

CHERAW - Mr. Eddie B. Gainey, age 76, died Thursday, September 22, 2016. Graveside Services will be at 3:00 PM Monday, September 26, 2016 at Chatham Hill Memorial Gardens by Rev. Jerry Gainey. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Gainey was born March 10, 1940 in Cheraw, SC a son of the late Ike and Martha Gainey. He was a retired employee of Highland Industries and a former employee of Delta Mills. He enjoyed fishing, watching sports, and spending time with his family.

In addition to his parents, Eddie was preceded in death by his loving wife, Audrey Faye Gainey; and his 4 brothers, Earl, Arthur, Ike, and Maxie Gainey.

Survivors include his 2 sons, Maxie (Lisa) Gainey of Patrick, SC, and David (Kelli) Gainey of Cheraw, SC; 1 daughter, Linda (Jimmy Smith) Johnson of Hartsville, SC; step-sons, James (Karen) Gainey of Hartsville, SC and Frank Gainey of Elgin, SC; 9 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren; and his beloved pet, “Cat”.

Charlie Franklin Hancock Jr.

MT. CROGHAN - Mr. Charlie Franklin Hancock, Jr., age 50, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016. Funeral Services were held at 1:00 PM Saturday, September 24, 2016 at Cross Roads Baptist Church with burial following in the church cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Friday, September 23, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Hancock was born July 2, 1966 in Chesterfield, SC a son of Lucy Williams Hannah and the late Charlie Franklin Hancock, Sr. He was an employee of Professional Pipe Inc. and a member of Cross Roads Baptist Church. Mr. Hancock enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding horses, and his favorite pastime was riding his motorcycle.

Survivors include his wife, Lisa S. Hancock of Mt. Croghan, SC; 2 sons, Randall Quentin (Michelle) Hancock of Ruby, SC, and Kevin Chadwick Hancock of Mt. Croghan, SC; daughter, Courtney Elizabeth Hancock of Mt. Croghan, SC; mother, Lucy Williams (Jerry) Hannah of Mt. Croghan, SC; 2 sisters, Gail H. (Ricky) Morton and Dale H. Tarlton of Mt. Croghan, SC; 1 granddaughter, Miranda K. Hancock; niece, Sarina G. Morton; nephews, Christopher “Ryan” Taylor and Christopher “Tyler” Tarlton; and great nephew, Easton Zachary Morton.

Joseph Jefferson ‘Joe’ Marsh

CHERAW - Joseph Jefferson “Joe” Marsh, 88, died Saturday, September 24, 2016. Born in Wadesboro, NC he was a son of the late Elisha Sampson Marsh and Glennie Flake Marsh. He was the youngest of 12 children. He attended Deep Creek High School. He was a US Army Veteran of World War II, and also a US Air Force Veteran of the Korean Conflict. Mr. Marsh moved to Cheraw, SC, where he had started his own business, Marsh Industrial Sheet Metal Works. Joe was a hardworking provider, a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was a faithful member of First United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC. He enjoyed fishing. Most of all he loved the time spent with his family.

Surviving is his wife (married in 1949), Virginia Dare Morris Marsh, sons, Glenn (Emily) Marsh and Douglas (Susan) Marsh all of Cheraw, SC, daughters, Dinah (Graham) Marsh Edwards of Isle of Palms, SC and Dee Dee (Dave) Marsh Evans of Pinopolis, SC, daughter-in-law, Kaye Bunch Marsh of Cheraw, SC, grandchildren, David, Courtney, Joseph, Haley, Mary Dare, Hannah, Rachel, Rebecca, great grandchildren, Alex, Samantha, Gavin, Colton, Natalie Dare and a brother, Fred Ross Marsh of Wadesboro, NC.

He was preceded in death by his parents listed above, a son, Daniel “Dan” Marsh, a granddaughter, Robin Christopher “Christy” Marsh and 10 of his siblings.

The family will receive friends from 1:00PM to 2:00 PM, Monday, September 26, 2016 in the Caston Parlor of First United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM, Monday, September 26, 2016 at First United Methodist Church, Cheraw, SC.

CHESTERFIELD – C.H. Rivers, 83, died on Monday, September 19, 2016. Funeral services were held on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at 3PM from Pleasant Grove A.M.E. Zion Church, Cheraw, SC. Burial followed in the Chesterfield Community Cemetery, Chesterfield, SC. He was born on June 16, 1933 in Chesterfield, SC to the late Cecil and Lottie Pegues Rivers. Survivors: four daughters, Vivian Bailey (John), Bertha Rivers, Tina Blakeney (Anthony) and Tonette McManus, all of Chesterfield, SC; four sons, Danny Rivers, Christopher Rivers, Gary Rivers, all of Chesterfield, SC and Gregory Rivers (Tasha), Hartsville, SC; five sisters, Louise Evans, New Haven, CT, Mary Johnson, Myrtle Lee Johnson (David), both of Chesterfield, SC, Betty Lou Rivers, New Haven, CT and Roberta Lewis (Alonzo), Chesterfield, SC; two brothers, Ulysses Rivers (Barbara Ann), and Harry Rivers (Pricilla), both of Chesterfield, SC; twenty-one grandchildren and twenty-two great grandchildren. Flemming Funerals-Chesterfield was in charge. .

Nathan B. Rollins

PAGELAND – Mr. Nathan B. Rollins, age 68, died Tuesday, September 20, 2016 at his home. Funeral services were held at 3:00 PM Friday, September 23, 2016 at Jefferson Church of God by Rev. Scottie Sellers and Rev. Joey Nelms with burial to follow in the Providence Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends from 6:00 – 8:00 PM Thursday, September 22, 2016 at Miller-Rivers-Caulder Funeral Home.

Mr. Rollins was born on April 22, 1948, in Jefferson, SC, a son of the late Alton Bruce and Oree Dixon Rollings. He was the retired owner and operator of Rollins and Sons Painting. Mr. Rollins was a member of Jefferson Church of God. He enjoyed racing, drag racing, and antique cars.

In addition to his parents, Nathan was also preceded in death by his wife, Ann Jordan Rollins, and his brother, Danny Rollins.

He is survived by his 2 sons, Britt (Lisa) Rollins of Pageland, SC and Kevin (Layne) Rollins of Jefferson, SC; 3 grandchildren, Pressley Rollins, Gracie Rollins, and Ashton Rollins; 3 brothers, Larry D. (Marilyn) Rollings of Hartsville, SC, Jimmy (Mary Beth) Rollings of Jefferson, SC and Robbie (Denise) Rollings of Bethune, SC; 2 sisters, Janice (Tommy) Grant of Jefferson, SC and Patsy (Don) Gainey of Hartsville, SC; Special Friend, Martha Watson of Pageland, SC; also numerous nieces and nephews.

Bonnie Mullis Wyland

PAGELAND – Mrs. Bonnie Mullis Wyland, 79, of Pageland, SC passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at her home while surrounded by her loving family and under the care of Hospice of Chesterfield County.

Mrs. Bonnie Mullis Wyland was born on April 29, 1937 in Monroe, North Carolina to the late Charles Mullis and Blanche Sherrin Mullis. Bonnie later met and united in marriage to the late Willis Robert Wyland. Bonnie and her late husband Willis owned and operated WW Painting for many years. Bonnie worked as a security guard and loved sitting on the front porch watching the rain with her beloved four-legged friend Bella. Mrs. Wyland is preceded in death by her Husband, Willis Robert Wyland, Son, Edward Eugene Latty, Daughters, Michelle Latty and Sheila Ray Latty, Four Brothers and Three Sisters.

Those left to celebrate and remember her life include her Daughter, Vickie Lee Mattison (Kenneth) of Pageland, SC, Brothers, George Harvell of Mt. Croghan, SC, Richard Harvell (Brenda) of Pageland, SC and Andrew Harvell (Rose) of Pageland, SC, Three Grandchildren and Four Great Grandchildren.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, September 25, 2016 at Baumgartner Funeral Home with Rev. Fred Mays officiating.

In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Hospice of Chesterfield County, PO Box 293, Chesterfield, SC 29709 or Special Olympics South Carolina, 109 Oak Park Dr., Irmo, South Carolina 29063. Baumgartner Funeral Home is assisting the Wyland Family.
