King Siblings: Elizabeth King, Brandon and Austin McGinnis Grandparents: Rex King, Candy and Jerry Newman Family and friends will meet 2 PM Saturday at Caton’s Chapel Cemetery for graveside service and interment. George Eugene Fischer III

Fischer, George Eugene III, age 37, of Knoxville, went to be with the Lord Wednesday, December 11, 2002. Member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church. Employed by Client Logic and a student at Pellissippi State Community College where he maintained a 4.0 grade point average. Loving and devoted wife, Angela Fischer; son, Ian Alexander Fischer; mother, Elizabeth Jones; sister, Kimberley Thomas; nephews and nieces, Jacob Thomas, Jasmine, Jacob, Isaac, Lavin Gurley and Eva and Vincent Willoughby; brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Arlin and Renee Gurley, Venecia Willoughby; maternal grandmother, Frances Goetz; and mother-in-law and father-in-law, Robert and Gladys Gurley. He is loved and will be missed by family and a host of friends. Funeral service 2:00 PM Saturday, Berry Funeral Home Chapel, Dr. Hollie Miller and Rev. Arlin Gurley officiating. Interment will follow at New Gray Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM on Saturday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Mertie Louise Ogle Houser

Houser, Mertie Louise Ogle, age 90, of Knoxville, passed away on Wednesday, December 11, 2002 at Hillcrest South Nursing Home. She was a member of Tarklin Valley Baptist Church. She taught Sunday School and sang in the choir and in a church quartet. She was an avid gardener and loved her flowers and wind chimes. Last surviving child of Howard and Sally Ogle. Preceded in death by husband, Alvin Houser. Children: Loula Ott and husband, Homer; Evelyn Cotter; Bruce Houser and wife, Frances; Claudette Boling and husband, Winfred; and Tom Houser and wife, Marilyn; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 6 great-great- grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 8:00 PM, Berry Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Morgan officiating. Family and friends will meet 10:00 AM Saturday at Woodlawn Cemetery for interment services. Grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Survivors: Wife of 56 years: Lillie Smith Widner of Kodak Daughter and son-in-law: Joette and Glenn Begue of Jacksonville, FL Sister: Helen Smith of Seymour Numerous nieces and nephews Family and friends will meet 2 PM Friday at Beech Springs Cemetery in Kodak for graveside service and interment with Rev. Wayne Stinnett and Rev. Kim McCroskey officiating. Military honors provided by American Legion Post # 104. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Thursday at Atchley Funeral Home, Sevierville. Preceded in death by son, Donnie; father, Alvin; and brothers, Mike, Butch, and Gary. Mother, Edith McMurry; children, Billy McGuire, Lisa Hutchison, and Shawn Shephard; grandchildren, Billy Ray, Jr., Josh, Donnie Ray, Joseph Rafe, Justin, Paige, Dillon, and Triston; brother, Howard; brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Wanda, Alvin and Linda, Terry and Donna, and Dale and Sherri; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dot and Raneson Cates, Judy and Jack Longmire, and Brenda and Hugh Thurman; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 8:00 p.m. Thursday, Berry Funeral Home Chapel, with Rev. Phillip Murphy officiating. Stella Davis Cox

Stella Davis Cox, age 94, of Sevierville, passed away Monday, December 9, 2002 at Farragut Health Care Center. Mrs. Cox was a teacher in the Sevier County School System for 36 years, a member of Eusebia Presbyterian Church in Blount County, and a member of the Retired Teachers Association of Sevier County. She was preceded in death by her husband Hugh B. Cox; parents Andy and Elizabeth Davis; and brothers Clifford and Leonard Davis; and sister Rebecca Cutshaw. Survivors: Son and daughter-in-law: Jim and Nillah Cox Daughter and son-in-law: Elizabeth Ann and Pat Reavis Granddaughters: Judy Cheek, Cindy Baird, and Patty Reavis Six great-grandchildren A special thanks to her caregivers at Farragut Health Care Center.
