Frances Hoss Drumwright

Frances Hoss Drumwright, age 84, widow of Roland Yates Drumwright of Wears Valley, died Friday, December 6, 2002, at Fort Sanders Sevier Medical Center. She was a registrar at the Saint Mary’s School of Nursing before joining the staff of the Purchasing Department at the University of Tennessee, where she remained until until her retirement. After the death of her husband, she resided at Markhill Village where she flourished in the happy contentment provided by Lisa Yarber, administrator, and the caring staff of Markhill Village. She was preceded in death by her aforementioned husband, Roland Yates Drumwright; her parents, Hugh and Marion Hoss. Survivors: Daughter and son-in-law: Diana Drumwright and Philip Borel of Belgium Grandchildren: Therese, Nicholas, and Alexandre of Belgium. Funeral mass 11 AM Thursday at Holy Cross Church, Pigeon Forge, with father Jay Flaherty officiating. Interment will follow in Headrick’s Chapel Cemetery. The family will receive friends 10 to 11 AM at Holy Cross Church, Pigeon Forge.

Margaret Sue Frazier

Frazier, Margaret Sue - Jesus received into his bosom a precious lady on Friday, December 06, 2002 at 5:36 a.m. She went peacefully to be with the Lord surrounded by her loved ones. A long time member of Ramsey Heights Baptist Church where she served as Sunday School secretary for 25 years. Her faith in God, joyful spirit, and a beautiful smile will be forever missed. Preceded in death by husband, James Frazier; father, David Haun; mother and stepfather, Anna and Carl Monday; sister, Ruth Stiles; and brothers, Jack Haun and Roy Haun. Survived by sons and daughters-in-laws, Jack and Kay Frazier, Jerry and Ann Frazier; daughter and son-in-law, Rev. Dennis and Sharon Ford; grandsons, Rev. Chuck Frazier, Gary Frazier, and Chris Frazier from Tucson, Arizona; great grandchildren, Justin, Chessney, Deonna, and Savanah Frazier; sister, Wanda Dockins; brothers, David Haun and Don Haun; sister-in-law, Lula Haun; and several nieces and nephews; special friends for many years, Archie Weaver, Mary Kate King, and Helen Ballew. Many thanks to her brother and sister-in-law, Don and Peggy Haun for their loving care to Mom. She loved them as her children. A special thank you also to Carolyn Wear R.N. for her love and support to our Mom and family and to Dr. Christopher Cox and Amy Spangler for their sincere concern. A service of celebration will be 8:00 p.m. Sunday, Ramsey Heights Baptist Church, with Rev. Chuck Frazier and Rev. Dennis Ford officiating. Family and friends will meet for graveside services 11:00 a.m. on Monday at Asbury Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews. If desired, please make memorials in memory of Margaret Frazier to U.T. Medical Center, c/o Hospice Program, 1924 Alcoa Highway, Knoxville, Tennessee 37920. Edith Shelley Flynn

Edith Shelley Flynn, age 92, of Seymour, died Thursday, December 5, 2002. She was preceded in death by her husband Marvin Flynn and daughter, Stella Grant. She had a special love for her family and church. She was a participant of the Heartland Series. Survivors: Children: Carl Flynn, Kenneth Flynn, Mary Fairchild, Ralph Flynn, Herman Flynn 10 Grandchildren 14 great-grandchildren 3 Great-great grandchildren Special thanks to the staff and caretakers of Holston Health Care Center. Funeral service 7 PM Saturday in the West Chapel of Atchley Funeral Home with the Rev. W.A. Galyon, Rev. Terry Parton, and Rev. Ed Cloud officiating. Interment 2 PM Sunday in Knob Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends 5:30-7 PM Saturday at Atchley Funeral Home Sevierville.

Nora M. Caldwell

Caldwell, Nora M., age 92 of South Knoxville, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, December 5, 2002 at NHC-Ft. Sanders. Member of Island Home Assembly of God. Son and daughter-in-law, David and Willie Caldwell; daughter, Patsy S. Davis; 12 grandchildren; a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Rev. Roscoe Oxendine, Harvey Oxendine and Cecil Ailor; many other relatives and friends. Family and friends will meet for graveside services on Friday 2:00 PM at Ousley Cemetery, Maynardville, with Rev. Roscoe Oxendine officiating. The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 1:00 PM on Friday at Berry Funeral Home, Chapman Highway.

Virginia M. Johnson

Johnson, Virginia M. -born April 21, 1925, passed away following a long illness Thursday, December 5, 2002 in Knoxville, Tennessee. She was a long time resident of Pittsford, New York. Preceded in death by husband, Arthur U. Johnson and son-in-law, David Iles. She is survived by daughters and son-in-law, Judith and Christopher Miller, Karen Iles of Pittsford, New York, and Patricia Johnson of New York City, New York; and grandchildren, Hannah and Benjamin Miller and Matthew and Kelly Iles. A memorial service will be held in Pittsford, New York. Arrangements by Berry Funeral Home, Knoxville, Tennessee.

Clarence Harvey Mock, Sr.

Mock, Clarence Harvey, Sr., born June 6, 1916, died unexpectedly Tuesday, December 3, 2002 at his home in South Knoxville having suffered with lung cancer. He was an active member and deacon of Fifth Avenue Baptist Church for 49 years. Retired from TVA as head of Procurement Division after 38 years of service, having started with TVA in 1940. Veteran of the United States Army having served in World War II. Preceded in death by wife of 47 years, Wanda Sherfey Mock and brother, Howard Lane Mock. Sons, Stuart Sherfey Mock, C. Harvey Mock, Jr.; daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Stephen Tarpy; grandchildren, Eli Mock, Patricia, Christopher and Jessica Tarpy and Harvey Mock III; several brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and life-long friends. Funeral service 7:00 PM Thursday, Berry Chapel, with Rev. John Silver officiating. Entombment services Friday 10:00 AM at Sherwood Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 871 Weisgarber Road, Knoxville, TN 37909 or Fifth Avenue Baptist Church Building Fund, 2500 E. 5th Avenue, Knoxville, TN 37914. Survived by grandchildren, Connie and husband, Dennis Adams, of Gray, TN; Jamie and husband, Jim Chambers, of New Market; Boyd and wife, Sherry, Haynes of Corryton; and Gary and wife, Marcia, Riner of Knoxville; brother and sister-in-law, L.B. and Helen Anderson of Corryton; sisters and brothers-in-law, Edna and Ercel Underwood of Corryton; Betty and Bobby McCampbell of Knoxville; Jodie and R.T. Roberts of Cleveland; sons-in-law, Bob Riner of New Market and Donald Haynes of Corryton; 8 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; very special friends, Donna Morton and Chris Anderson. The family would like to extend a thank you to Alternative Care Sitter Service (especially Rena Adams and Ed Bryant) for all the special love and care that they provided during Mr. Anderson’s illness. William (Bill) V. Smith

Mr. Smith was born and resided in Harlan County, Kentucky for 60 years and was a resident of South Knoxville for 12 years. He was Captain in the United States Army where he was honorably discharged in 1967. He was a retired teacher and football coach in the Kentucky education system for 30 years. Member of Evarts Baptist Church and Congregational United Methodist Church, both in Evarts, Kentucky and a current member of Sevier Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville. Also a member of American Family Association Knoxville Affiliate. Preceded in death by father, Clarence (Flonnie) Smith; mother, Nell Jackson Smith; and brother, Robert Smith. Wife, Margaret Moore Smith of Knoxville, Tennessee; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa Smith Caraway and William Caraway, Jr., Sergeant United States Army, both of Clarksville, Tennessee; brother-in-law, Clarence (Bud) Moore of Jonesville, Virginia; sisters-in-law, Glenda Edwards Moore of Jonesville, Virginia and Freida Osborne Smith of Evarts, Kentucky; nephews, Jeff, Bryan, and Joe Moore, all of Jonesville, Virginia and Jeff and Zane Sturgill, both of Wise, Virginia; nieces, Vonda and Tosha Sturgill of Wise, Virginia and Melissa Collins-Moore of Jonesville, Virginia.
