ALBA — Ruby Elwanda Tilley, 77, of Mineola, a homemaker, died July 28, 2003, in a Quitman hospital.
Services were held at 10 a.m. July 31 at Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home Chapel in Alba with Frank Summers officiating. Burial was at Colony cemetery. Arrangements were by Wilson-Bartley Funeral Home.
She was born in Highlands and moved to Mineola from Odessa. She was a member of Alba Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Tom Parks of Alba and Raymond Tilley of Odessa; daughter, Lynna “Smokey” Gantt of Mineola; five grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Richard Johnson
ODESSA — Richard Oliver Johnson, 86, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Aug. 5, 2003, at Hospice House.
Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Landre Doan
MERKEL - Landre G. Doan, 51, of Odessa, a contract supervisor for the Texas Workforce Commission, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Rose Hill cemetery in Merkel. Arrangements by Starbuck Funeral Home.
He was born in Abernathy and had lived in Odessa since 1958.
SURVIVORS: Son, Forrest Cody Doan of Kermit; brothers, Ted Doan of Clyde and David Doan of Jasper; and one grandchild.

Whitney Gibbs
MELLISSA - Whitney Gibbs, 39, of Mellissa, Texas, died Friday, July 18, 2003, at her residence.
Services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by North Dallas Funeral Home in Farmers Branch.
She was born in Paris, Texas.
SURVIVORS: Sisters, Zella Lippe and Marie Milam, both of Odessa, Bobbie Heath and Lori Drooks, both of Marion, Ind.; and brother, Duane Reynolds of Marion, Ind.

Leona Nichols
ODESSA - Leona Louise Maxwell Nichols, 67, of Odessa, a retired teacher, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at Hospice House.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Steve Deines officiating. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Coleman County. She was Presbyterian.
SURVIVORS: Husband, James Waylon 'Nick' Nichols of Odessa; sons, David Eugene Nichols of Arlington and Ramon Andrew Nichols of Euless; mother, Mildred Boyd Maxwell of Odessa; sisters, Juanell Coats of Proctor and Norma Joyce Dyer of Odessa; brother, Glenn Edward Maxwell of Odessa; and one grandchild.

Doyal Proctor
HOBBS, N.M. - Doyal Rodney Proctor, 47, of Seminole, a former employee of Danny Eggleton Cabinet Shop, died Wednesday, July 23, 2003, at his residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today at Prairie Haven Memorial Park with the Rev. Chris Barnett officiating. Arrangements by Griffin Funeral Home.
He was born in Lubbock. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Kathy Proctor of Seminole; mother, Fay Proctor of Hobbs, N.M.; stepson, Zechari Allen Brumley of Hobbs, N.M.; brother, David Heath Cornelison of Waycross, Ga.; sister, Karen Bolen of Lawel, Md.; and one grandchild.

Chester Evinger
ODESSA - Chester Evinger, 80, of Odessa, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Hospice House.
Services are pending with Chapa Funeral Home.

Thad Russell
ANDREWS - Thad Russell, 69, of Andrews, died Thursday, July 24, 2003, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock.
Services are pending with McNett Funeral Home.

Harold Albin
CRANE — Harold "Shade Tree" Albin, 74, of Crane, a retired mechanic, died Thursday, May 22, 2003 in Crane.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the Crane County cemetery. Arrangements by Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home.
SURVIVORS: One sister.

Melvin Castleberry
COMANCHE — Melvin Leroy Castleberry, 67, of Comanche, died Friday, May 23, 2003 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Fort Worth.
Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Monday at Gardens of Memory cemetery with the Rev. Matt Hall officiating. Arrangements by Comanche Funeral Home.
He was a United States Army veteran and served in the Korean War. He was a Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Josie Pearl Castleberry, of Comanche; daughter, Meredith Lynn Jones of Terrell; sons, Michael Leroy Castleberry of Odessa and Joe Douglas Castleberry of Midland; brother, Charles E. Castleberry of Lubbock; sisters, Mary Ellen Batchelor and Peggy Jo Janecek, both of Atlanta; and four grandchildren.

Thomas Coats
ALPINE — Thomas L. Coats, 83, died Thursday, May 22, 2003.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the First Methodist Church with the Rev. Michael Brunk officiating. Military burial will follow in Elm Grove cemetery. Arrangements by Geeslin Funeral Home.
He was a veteran of the United States Navy and a Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Jane Ashley Coats; daughters, Palmer Coats Byersley and nancy Coats Rucker, sons, Ashley Edward Coats and Harold Victor Coats II; sisters, Martha Hargrove, Ellen Keel and Peggy Conrad, brothers, John J. Coats, Wayne Coats, Victor Coats and Paul Coats; and eight grandchildren.

MONAHANS — Keylan Sabryn Fletcher, an infant, of Monahans, died Friday, May 23, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
SURVIVORS: Parents, Mechelle and Paul Fletcher Jr. of Monahans; and sisters, Anasia Fletcher of Monahans and Shaquer Fletcher of McKinney.

Alyne Gray
MARFA — Alyne Gray, 83, a homemaker, died Thursday, May 22, 2003 at her home.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Christ in Marfa with burial following at Marfa cemetery. Arrangements by Memorial Funeral Home.
She had lived in Alamogordo, N.M. and Zapata and was a member of the Church of Christ.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Gordon Gray of Marfa; daughters, Barbara Ann Blount of Miami and Carla Yvonne Elmore of Marfa; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Inez Mewborn
COMANCHE — Inez Mewborn, 91, of Odessa, a sales clerk, died Thursday, May 22, 2003 at Hospice House in Odessa.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Comanche Funeral Home Chapel in Comanche, with the Rev. Van Christian officiating. Burial will be at Oakwood cemetery in Comanche. Arrangements by Comanche Funeral Home.
SURVIVORS: Nieces, Norma Hudson of Odessa, Doris Newberry of Bend, Mary Beth Lynch of Utah, Joyce Carr of Diboll, Jane Clearley of Burkburnett, Anita Mosley of Houston, Suzye Johnson, of Vacaville, Calif., Mollie Branch of Benson, La. and Huelene Jones of Hot Springs, Ark.; nephews James Williford of Pearland, Ray Hawkins of San Saba, C.L. Williford Jr. of Fort Worth, Dwight Williford of Briggs, James Williford of McLean, Va., Bobby Marcum of Dallas and DeWitt Ragsdale of Houston.

Romana Nunez
PECOS — Romana Lara Nunez, 77, a homemaker, of Pecos, died Friday, May 23, 2003 in El Paso.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday at Santa Ana Catholic Church with the Rev. Ben Florez officiating. Burial will follow at Mount Evergreen cemetery.
She was born in Colorado City and was a Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Son, Rudy Nunez of El Paso.
