ODESSA — Fidencio Jaquez Arroyo, 64, of Odessa, a self-employed roofer, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Hospice House.
Rosary will be said at 8 p.m. Monday at Martinez Funeral Home. Services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will be at Ector County cemetery. Arrangements by Martinez Funeral Home.
He was born in Santa Maria De Cuevas, Mexico. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Rosa Arroyo; sons, Ramon Arroyo and Enrique Arroyo, both of Odessa; Daughters, Clara Isela Arroyo, Beatrice Arroyo, Norma Trene Arroyo and Rebeca Ann Arroyo, all of Odessa; brothers, Simon Jaquez Arroyo, Crecennsiano Jaquez Arroyo and Jesus Manuel Arroyo, all of Chihuahua, Mexico; sisters, Remedios Arroyo Escobar, Aurelia Arroyo Jaquez and Elvira Arroyo Escabar, all of Chihuahua, Mexico; and nine grandchildren.

Don Bilbrey
ODESSA — Don Bilbrey, 70, of Odessa, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. on Wednesday at Sunset Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
He was born in Wilburton, Okla.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Ann Bilbrey, of Odessa; sons, Jackey Don Bilbrey and Roger Dale Bilbrey, both of Odessa; daughters, Connie Lee Everhart, Dorothy Ann Tipton, Mary Jean Bilbrey and Deborah Louise Register, all of Odessa; brother, Clarance Bilbrey of Lake Jackson; sister, Dorothy Mae Schraeder of Odessa; ten grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Senorina Cruz
ODESSA — Senorina G. Cruz, 74, of Odessa, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Hospice House in Odessa.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be at 12 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Gilbert Rodriguez officiating. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery. Arrangements by Odessa Funeral Home.
She was born in Portales, N.M. She was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Sons, Jose Angle Cruz, Ector Cruz Sr. and Ismael Cruz, all of Odessa; daughter, Rosa Maria Sisneros of Odessa; brothers, Valentine Garcia, Jose Garcia and Jesus Garcia, all of Odessa; sisters, Apolonia Garcia of Richardson, Tomasa Barrientes of Odessa; nine grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.

Connie Guess
ODESSA — Connie Sue Guess, 58, of Odessa, a shipping and receiving clerk for Tubsco-Varco, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Hospice House in Odessa.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors Chapel. Burial will follow at a later date in Wharton. Arrangements by Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
She was born in Eureka, Kans. She was Methodist.
SURVIVORS: Husband, Donald Guess of Odessa; sons, Jerry Riley of Seagrove, Fla., and Kirk Riley of Austin; mother, Neola Jones of Eureka, Kans.; brother, Jim Prye Downey of Denver, Colo.; Sister, Sharon L. Dehlinger of Eureka, Kans.; and 12 grandchildren.

Ray Knott
NACOGDOCHES — Ray Knott, 59, of Nacogdoches, a purchasing agent, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, in Nacogdoches.
Services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Laird-McGill Funeral Home with the Rev. Don Forrester officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Arrangements by Laird-McGill Funeral Home.
He was born in Olney, Ill. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Carolyn Knott of Nacogdoches; son, Jay Knott of Nacogdoches; daughter, Regina Knott of Nacogdoches; mother, Nadine Knott of Odessa; sisters, Barbara Speidel of Wharton and Betty Knott of Odessa; and 2 grandchildren.

Johnny Lopez
MIDLAND — Johnny El Nelson Lopez, 55, of Amarillo, a carpenter and heavy-equipment operator, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at a hospital in Amarillo.
Rosary will said at 7 p.m. Monday at Pipkin Funeral Home Chapel. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Jerome Burnett officiating. Burial will follow at Resthaven North Memorial Park. Arrangements by Pipkin Funeral Home.
He was born in Midland. He was Catholic.
SURVIVORS: Mother, Cruz Palma of Midland; sons, Simon Aguilar and Alberto Lopez, both of Odessa; daughter, Paulina Lopez of Odessa; brother, Julian Lopez of Midland; sisters, Angelina Medina of Odessa, Mary Helen Reynero of Amarillo, Judy Ochoa of Midland and Micaela Barrera of Dallas; and several grandchildren.

Melvin Southern
ANDREWS — Melvin Southern, 74, of Andrews, a retired farmer and tool pusher, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at his residence.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Maranatha Assembly of God Church in Andrews with the Revs. Roy Southern and and Dean Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in the Andrews West cemetery. Arrangements by McNett Funeral Home of Andrews.
He was born in Baskin, La.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Faye Southern of Andrews; sons, Steve Southern and Richard Southern, both of Andrews; daughters, Karen Gregory of Snyder and Tonda Alexander of San Angelo; step-daughters, Pam Stevens of Andrews, Patsy Bleven of Coahoma and Shirley Ann Pritchard of Midland; brothers, Edward Southern of Gilbert, La., and the Rev. Roy Southern of Fort Duchesne, Utah; sisters, Georgia Clark of Winnsboro, La., Wynell Eley of Gilbert, La., Juanita Bennett of Winnsboro, La., Sarah Holmes of Duckhill, Miss., and Barbara Denney of Lakeville, Minn.; and 22 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

ODESSA — Robert Tillman, 62, of Odessa, a retired welder, died Thursday, July 10, 2003, in Odessa.
Graveside Services will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
He was born in Kansas City, Mo. He was an Army Veteran. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Marlene Tillman of Odessa.

Garry Treadwell
ODESSA — Garry Paul Treadwell Sr., 52, of Odesa, a retired oilfield truck driver, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at Medical Center Hospital.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Chapel. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
He was born in Odessa. He was Baptist.
SURVIVORS: Son, Garry Treadwell Jr. of Midland; daughter, Frances Peppermiller of Odessa; and 2 grandchildren.

Henrietta Hatcher
ODESSA — Henrietta Hatcher, 83, of Odessa, died Saturday, July 12, 2003, at her residence.
Arrangements pending under the direction of Martinez Funeral Home.

Mae Luck
ODESSA — Mae Luck, 93, of Odessa passed away Wednesday, July 16, 2003, at Seabury Nursing Center in Odessa.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with Rev. James Salisbury and Rev. Mike Martin, pastor of Terrace Hills Baptist Church, officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Joe Johnson, Alan Luck, Kevin Luck, Joel Luck, Michael Brinsfield and Mark Shelton.
Mrs. Luck was born on November 11, 1909, in Cheyenne, Okla., to Thomas Lorenzo Fifer and Emma Cora Nichols. She graduated from high school in Sasakwa, Okla. She married George H. Luck on February 7, 1931, in Tecumseh, Okla. They moved to Odessa in 1947. She was a homemaker and a loving mother. She loved the Lord and was a member of Terrace Hills Baptist Church.
Mrs. Luck was preceded in death by her parents; husband, George, on May 10, 1988; two sons, Richard Dal Luck on December 7, 1990, and James Thomas Luck on August 23, 1999. She is survived by two daughters, Gloria Ator and her husband, H.B., of Odessa, and Eleanor Shelton and her husband, Howard, of Midland; 12 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; 11 great-great grandchildren; four nieces; and one nephew.
Visitation will be at Sunset Memorial Funeral home on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. The family has requested that memorials be made to Hospice.

Jose Fidel Rios
ODESSA — Jose Fidel Rios, 71 years of age, passed away on July 16, 2003 at Medical Center Hospital. He was born on April 24, 1932, in Zacatecas, Mexico. He was a welder in the oilfield industry and member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.
Survivors include his wife, Feliz H. Rios of Odessa; daughters, Alma Zamarripa, Rosa Montez and Miriam Medina, all of Odessa; brothers, Antonio Rios and Miguel Rios, both of Cd. Acuna, Mexico, Jesus Rios of El Paso; sister, Rose Garza of Milwaukee, Wis.; grandchildren, Daniel Zamarripa, Justin Medina, Erica Medina, Adrian Rene Medina, Crystal Medina, Corina Medina, John Medina and Jazmine Montez.
A rosary will be recited on today, July 18, 2003, at 7 p.m. at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Armando Sanchez officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services by Odessa Funeral Home.

Jo Bess Starnes
ODESSA — Jo Bess Starnes, 73, of Odessa died on Wednesday, July 16, 2003, in Las Vegas, N.M., at her beloved cabin in Gallinas Canyon. She cherished the times she and her husband, Dan, spent with their family and friends in New Mexico.
Jo Bess was born in Baird, Texas, on February 3, 1930, to Grover and Annye Miller. She graduated from Baird High School and attended Tarleton State College in Stephenville, Texas. She married Dan Starnes on April 16, 1954.
Jo Bess retired as Classified Manager of the Odessa American in 1985. She began her newspaper career at the Midland Reporter Telegram in 1949 and worked for the Lubbock Avalanche Journal before joining the staff of the Odessa American.
Jo Bess was a longtime active member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Odessa where she sang in the choir for several years. She was a superb caretaker for her family and friends. She was always available to assist with any special project or to nurture any sick friend or relative.
Jo Bess had a strong faith and she celebrated life at every opportunity.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Dan Starnes of Odessa; two sisters, Martha Kapper of Arlington and Raynell Blumberg and her husband, Mike, of Fort Worth; one aunt, Mrs. Lillyan Hollingshead of Houston; and a host of other cherished relatives. Special friends include May Adkins, Joyce Schlinder, Emily Harrell and Sue Ground.
Family visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, July 18, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 19, 2003, in the chapel of Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors with Rev. Robert Sams officiating. Interment will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday at Admiral cemetery in Baird.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
