Tamara Ann Deese-Johnson
FRANKLIN PARK, ILL. Tamara Ann Deese-Johnson, 39, of Melrose Place, Ill., a homemaker, died Sunday, Nov. 14, 2004, at her residence.
Memorial services were held Nov. 18 at Sax-Tiedemann Funeral Home.
She was born in Lincoln Park, Mich.
SURVIVORS: Parents, Janice and Howard “Cowboy” Davis of Melrose Place; daughters, Laura Strutz of Melrose Place and Vanessa Moore of Aurora, Ill.; son, Jeremy Moore of Aurora; brother, Thomas A. Deese II of Odessa; and sisters, Therese Archer and Tommie Wemken, both of Odessa.

Eldred K. ‘Boots’ Ray
ODESSA - Eldred K. “Boots” Ray, 90, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, at Baylor All Saints Hospital in Fort Worth.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Duckett officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born in Ada, Okla. He served in the Army and was a member of Second Baptist Church.
SURVIVORS: Daughter, Gloria Harrison of Azle; two grandchildren; and one grandchild.

Randall W. Dulaney
MATTOON, ILL Randall W. Dulaney, 48, of Mattoon, Ill., died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004.
Services are pending with Mitchell-Jerdan Funeral Home.

Robert Lee Dykes
ODESSA - Robert Lee Dykes, 74, of Odessa, died Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at Hospice House.
Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Don Blevins
DENVER CITY Don Blevins, 83, of Lubbock, died Tuesday, Nov. 16, 2004, in Lubbock.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church. Burial will be at Denver City Memorial Park.

Henry Evans
HOUSTON - Henry Evans, 51, of Houston, a post office worker, died Saturday, Nov. 13, 2004, at his residence.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at South Side Church of Christ in Houston. Burial will be in Houston.
He was born in Panola County.
SURVIVORS: Mother, Elesia Evans of Odessa; sisters, Ruby Veal and Ruby Terry, both of Odessa and Bobbie Raymond of Bay Town; and brothers, Robert Evans of Midland, Cornelious Evans Jr. of Houston and Joe Evans of Arlington.

Burnece Brinson
ODESSA - Burnece Brinson, 80, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at the Hospice House. She was born February 8, 1924, in Eastland County. She graduated from Rising Star High School. She moved to Kermit in 1945, where she stayed until she moved to Penwell in 1956, and then to Odessa in 1962.
She had worked as a waitress and was a proud member of Temple Baptist Church and the Galilean Class. She loved her family and to travel. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Albert Brinson in 2001; her sister, Bobbie Browning; and brother Jack Ray Townsend.
She is survived by her daughter, Rita Robins of Odessa; brother-in-law, Minor Browning of Odessa; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2004, at Temple Baptist Church (Harvesters Class Room) with Rev. Kyle Rogers officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Sue F. Craig
ANDREWS - On a glorious February day in 1921, God brought an angel to earth-Marcella Sue Floyd Craig in Madill, Oklahoma. He summoned her home on November 16, 2004. While here with us, Sue touched countless lives. She left a legacy of faith, love and dignity.
On October 1, 1939, Sue married the love of her life, Billy “Bill” Craig. He preceded her to heaven on December 1, 1992.
Throughout her life, Sue gave to others. From being a life long Girl Scout to Citizen of the Year in Andrews, Texas, she gave her all. On July 30, 1945, she gave birth to a long awaited child-William “Bill” Craig. In November 1949, Susan joined the family. Settling in Odessa, Sue opened a children’s clothing store in the 1950’s. She was active in the Odessa Garden Club and the Junior League. One of her major contributions to Odessa was her support and fundraising for the Globe Theatre. She was determined to bring “culture” to the oil patch of West Texas.
In 1959, Bill relocated his business to Andrews. Here was another opportunity for Sue to contribute to her community. In Andrews she was a member of the Rotary and Women’s Division of the Chamber of Commerce. Her career’s spanned from retail clothing to floral designer to radio personality to senior center director. She participated in the 75th Anniversary of Andrews as well as the community theater. In October 1975, Sue became the first Director of the Andrews Senior Center. During her tenure, she was appointed to the White House Council on Aging and served in the Silver Haired Legislature. She was a champion for the Senior Citizen. In 1996, prior to her retirement from the Senior Center, Sue was named Citizen of the Year by the Andrews Chamber of Commerce. She was humbled to be honored by the town she loved so much.
Sue’s final years were spent in the Dallas area. She continued to endear all those that she met. Her caregivers had a hard time keeping up with her! Love was present wherever she went.
Survivors are her son, Bill Craig and wife, Judy, of Andrews; daughter, Susan Craig of Plano, Texas; and grandchildren are Sherry Scribner and husband, Daniel, of Irving, Shannon Hicks and husband, Kenny, of Maypearl, Cristen Ransom and husband, Randy, of Plano and Sonya Pereira and husband, Manny, of Longview. Her great-grandchildren are Brett and Dustin Hicks of Maypearl and Caitlyn Scribner of Irving. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Jewell Dowell of Odessa; niece, Janet Lee of Odessa; nephew, Ronnie Dowell of Odessa; and cousins, Bill Kyser of Temple Terrace, Florida and David K. Spradling II of Woodland Park, Colorado.
A Memorial Service is being planned for a future date. A contribution may be made to the Andrews Senior Center of the Alzheimer’s Association in Sue’s memory.

Milton Land Duncan
MONAHANS - Milton Land Duncan, 81, of Odessa, died Monday, November 15, 2004, at Avalon Place in Odessa. He was born November 21, 1922, in Ft. Stockton, Texas, to Damon and Laura (Land) Duncan.
He married Billie Hickey on February 22, 1946, in Monahans. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. He was an engineer in the oil industry. He was also the owner of D&D Photo Shop in Odessa.
Memorial Services are set for 1 p.m. Friday, November 19, 2004, at Family Funeral Services Chapel of Monahans, with Dean Duncan officiating. Services are under the direction of Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
Survivors include his wife, Billie Duncan of Odessa; a daughter, Jamie Bradshaw of Poquoson, Virginia; and two brothers, Dean Duncan of College Station, Texas, and Baxter Duncan of Sun City, Arizona. Also a grandson, Troy Russom and wife, Sandy, of Granbury, Texas, and two great-granddaughters.

Fayette Francis Griffin
Odessa - Fayette Francis Griffin, 82, died Saturday, November 13, 2004, in the Regency Hospital, Medical Center Hospital, Odessa, Texas.
The Burial Office and Holy Eucharist will be celebrated by The Rev. David Mossbarger at St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Church, 4141 Tanglewood, Saturday, November 20, at 2 p.m.
Fayette was born January 12, 1922, in Rome, New York. His parents were Andrew and Lila Cary Griffin. He had one sister and one brother. He was raised in Rome, New York, and educated at the Rome Free Academy. He received a B.B.A degree from Southwestern University, Georgetown, Texas, in 1949. He attended Texas Tech University in 1966-67, and later enjoyed a part time teaching position at Odessa College.
In 1942, he enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. During World War II, he served in the Pacific Theatre on Okinawa Island and was part of the occupying force at Nagasaki. He received special training at Mount Holyoke College and was posted at Southwestern University with the Marine-Navy V-12 unit.
While stationed in Georgetown, he met his future wife, Delia Elizabeth Cocke, and they were married on August 4, 1944. They recently celebrated their 60th anniversary of marriage. They had two sons, Mark and Christopher, and two daughters, Lynne and Terry. Christopher died in infancy.
Fayette and Delia moved from Georgetown to West Texas in 1949, first living in the Gulf Oil Sandhills Community of Crane County, and then moving to Odessa in 1951.
Fayette earned Certified Professional Accountant credentials and was the founding partner of Griffin & Howell. P.C. He was active in the Marine Corps League, West Texas Jazz Society, Midland Odessa Symphony and Chorale, and Brotherhood of St. Andrew. He was a member of St. John’s and St. Barnabas’ Episcopal Churches, serving as Senior Warden in 1971 and 1978, and a Trustee from 1980 to 1991. He was also a Trustee for the J.C. Ferguson Foundation.
Fayette was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Lila Cary Griffin; brother, Terry Griffin; and son, Christopher Griffin.
Survivors include his wife, Delia; his son, Mark Griffin and his wife, Stacy, and their children, Morgan, Adam and Rachel of Cypress, Texas; his daughter, Lynne Whitt and her children, Jason and Jessica of Bridgehampton, New York; his daughter Terry Griffin, and her husband, Peter Deming, and their children, Esther and Hadley of New York City; his sister, Nora Stephen of Rome, New York; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Art and Helen Goethe of Georgetown, Texas; many nephews and nieces; and a multitude of friends
He and his wife enjoyed many activities including reading, traveling, theatre and dining with friends. However, those who knew him best know that his most passionate interests were baseball and jazz. His sense of humor will be missed by all those who knew him.
Memorials may be directed to St. Barnabas’ Carillon Fund, Midland Odessa Symphony & Chorale, West Texas Jazz Society, Ellen Noel Art Museum, or charity of your choice.

Dorothy Lenford
ODESSA - Dorothy Lenford, 74, a homemaker, passed away Friday, November 12, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas. She was born February 28, 1930, in Blooming Grove, Texas, the daughter of Willie and Roberta Gray Graham. Mrs. Lenford was previously from Blooming Grove, Texas, before settling in Odessa, where she has lived for several years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Lenford Sr.; her son, Johnny Lenford; her father, Willie Graham, and her mother, Roberta Gray Graham.
She is survived by her son, Robert Lenford Jr. of Raleigh, NC; her grandson, Coury Joseph Lenford of Crane, TX; one sister, Herline Rosemond of Odessa; and one brother, Jimmie Dale Graham of Dalhart, TX.
Visitation for Mrs. Lenford will be Friday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. at Martinez Funeral Home.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, November 20, 2004, at 2 p.m. at Rose of Sharon Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. J.W. Hanson officiating. Interment will follow at the Ector County cemetery in Odessa.
Funeral Services are entrusted to Martinez Funeral Home.

Eldred Kenneth ‘Boots’ Ray
ODESSA - Eldred K. “Boots” Ray, 90, a longtime resident of Odessa, passed away Tuesday, November 16, 2004, at the Baylor All Saints Hospital in Ft. Worth, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born October 9, 1914, in Ada, OK. He married Lucille Thomas May 24, 1939, in Arkansas City, Kansas. She preceded him in death on June 4, 2004. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was a longtime employee of Conoco Oil Co. He was a member of the V.F.W., American Legion and Second Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Senior Citizens Dance Club.
He was a very loving, caring and generous man who was loved by all. He was affectionately called Uncle Booter by all his nieces and nephews. He always had a smile and hug for everyone.
He is survived by his daughter, Gloria Harrison and her husband, Chuck, of Azle, TX; brother-in-law, Bill Thomas of Odessa; sisters-in-law, Nina Hazen of Wichita, KS., and Doris Lands of San Angelo; two grandchildren, Kathryn Harrison and K. C. Harrison and wife, Holli, all of Ft. Worth; great-grandson, Devin Russell of Ft. Worth; nieces and nephews, Cindy Hall of Chinie, AZ., Ronny Ray of Midland, Rocky Ray of Crane and Marsha Williams of Odessa; and many more loving relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, November 19, 2004, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Randy Duckett officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Roy Don Bishop
ODESSA - Roy Don Bishop, 67, of Odessa, a painter, died Monday, Nov. 15, 2004, at his residence.
Services have not been scheduled.
He was born in Wink. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam War.
SURVIVORS: Brothers Clyde Bishop of Lubbock, Edward Gene Bishop of Las Vegas, Nev., and Danny Dale Bishop of Houston.

William W. ‘Bill’ Hargus
FORT STOCKTON - William W. “Bill” Hargus, 83, of Fort Stockton, an airport operator, died Thursday, Nov. 18, 2004, in Fort Stockton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Fort Stockton Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Jim Miles officiating. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Marathon cemetery.
He was born in Marathon. He served in World War II. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Marathon.
SURVIVORS: Wife, Betty Hargus of Fort Stockton; daughters, Ramona Elizabeth Olson of Saginaw, Regina Pederson of Midland, Mich., and Peggy Elliott of Sweetwater; son, Charles Lorenz of Fort Stockton; sisters, Frances Springfield of Marathon and Betty Imler of San Diego, Calif.; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
