ODESSA - Barbara Rudd, 64, of Odessa, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at Hospice House.
Services are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Eleno Romero Vasquez
ODESSA - Eleno Romero Vasquez, 82, of Odessa, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, in Las Vegas.
Services are pending with Martinez Funeral Home.

Ernestine Ortiz Hernandez
MARATHON - Born in to this world on March 23, 1935, in Marathon, Texas. Born into eternal life on Dec. 23, 2004, at her residence in Odessa, Texas.
She was married on Aug. 3, 1949, and is survived by her husband of 55 years, Cirilo Hernandez. She is also survived by her son, Alfredo “Freddy” Hernandez; daughters, Sylvia Villarreal and husband Manuel and Christine Cordova and husband Juan; grandchildren, Diane Swint and husband Mike, Denise Villarreal, Manny Villarreal, Sabrina Cordova and Amy Cordova; and great-grandchild, Mireya Angel Hernandez; brothers, Ramon Ortiz of Fort Stockton and Valente Ortiz of Arizona; sisters, Rita Polanco of Monahans, Ofelia Piña of Odessa and Maria Ramirez of El Paso.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Eduardo and Victoriana Ortiz; sister, Carolina Urias; and brothers, Natividad Ortiz and Eduardo Ortiz Jr.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 26, 2004, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, in Marathon at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Rick Ruiz officiating. Burial will follow in Marathon.
The family would like to thank Home Hospice for caring for her.

H. Warren Gardner
MIDLAND - H. Warren Gardner made his transition to pure spirit on Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004.
Born Feb. 13, 1939, in Soldier, Kan., to Hugh and Ruth Gardner, he spent his childhood in both Kansas and Indiana. In 1962, he married Alicia Stubbs.
He received his Ph.D. in American History from the University of Kansas in 1969. His career in higher education spanned almost 40 years, including positions at Sterling College, Southwest Minnesota State, Northern Montana College, and the University of Texas of the Permian Basin, where he served as Vice-President of Academic Affairs from 1983 to 1996, taught in the history department from 1983 to 2004 and taught in the John Ben Shepperd Leadership Institute. He also served as Interim Director of the JBS Institute prior to his illness. He received the Chancellor’s Award for Outstanding Teaching in 2003.
In addition to his lifelong commitment to education, his interests included music, woodworking and avidly following the sports teams of his beloved KU Jayhawks.
A gifted singer and musician, he was a member of the Midland-Odessa Symphony Chorale. His many years of community service included membership on the National Easter Seals Board, the local Planned Parenthood Board, the Permian Basin Historical Society and Rotary International. As well, he participated in numerous task forces and committees in Midland and Odessa, including the Odessa Mayor’s Drug Task Force and as Chair of Midland Vision 2000 and Beyond.
He was a member of the Midland Unitarian Universalist Church, where he served as treasurer and sang in the OK Chorale.
Warren’s joy and zest for life touched everyone around him.
He is survived by his wife, Alicia Gardner of Midland, Texas; his mother, Ruth Gardner Youngquist of Alamo, Texas; his daughter, Julia Gardner of Ann Arbor, Mich.; his son, Greg Gardner of San Francisco, Calif.; and his brothers, Ken Gardner of Corn, Okla., Tom Gardner of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, and Jim Gardner of Osage City, Kan.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at the First United Methodist Church of Midland.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the University of Texas of the Permian Basin in memory of H. Warren Gardner.

Marcelene Marie Abel
ODESSA - Marcelene Marie Abel, 74, of Odessa, passed away on December 23, 2004, at the Hospice House of Odessa.
She was born February 11, 1930, in San Angelo, Texas. She was employed at State Farm Insurance Company. She was also a member of the Life Unlimited Church of Odessa, Texas.
She was survived by her daughters, Peggy Nail and Roxy Dodd. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Terri Clardy, Kim Spears, Michael Coffman, Justin, Joshua and Jesse Bass, Krysten Bolden, Courtnee Lancaster, Leah Lancaster, T. J. Spears and Tori Spears.
Services for Marcelene Abel are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2004, at the Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Don Palmer officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Roberta ‘Bobbi’ Gaschler
ODESSA - Roberta “Bobbi” Gaschler, 68, of Odessa, died December 18, 2004, at a local hospital.
She was born November 24, 1936, to Joseph and Lillian Gaschler in Morgan Town, West Virginia. She was educated in Morgan Town, and later went to work as a Police Dispatch Supervisor with North Bay Village Police Department in Miami, Florida.
“Bobbi” is survived by her son, Alex Papai and wife Carmela of Coconut Creek, Fla.; two daughters, Ronda Peroutka of Odessa, Texas, and Lois Asseraf and husband George of Cooper City, Fla; and a daughter-in-law, Rosie Gutierrez of Odessa, Texas. She is also survived by her brother, Joseph Gaschler and wife Doris of Miami, Fla.; and sisters, Betty Arroyo of Taylor, S.C., and Joanne Sommers of Morgan Town, W.Va. She had six grandchildren, Tracy Vargas, Crystal Papai, Jennifer Peroutka, Amanda Peroutka, Tina Muñoz and Amanda Shadduck; and two great-grandchildren, Alyssa Muñoz and Anthony Seaman.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Barry Reiswig officiating.

Pablo Ojinaga Granado
Odessa - Pablo Ojinaga Granado, 91, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at Sienna Nursing Home.
He was born Jan. 26, 1913, in Van Horn, Texas, to Isabel and Antonia Ojinaga Granado. He was a Christian Musician and worked at Medical Center Hospital in the Janitorial Department.
Mr. Granado was preceded in death by his parents; and four brothers, Thomas, Sisto, Raymundo and Chon Granado.
He is survived by wife, Sista Matta Granado; daughters, Melba Muñoz and husband Jose Antonio and Lea Venegas, all of Odessa; three brothers, Fernando, Gregorio and Lorenzo Granado; five Sisters, Isabel Quiroz, Susana Mejia, Maria Jiminez, Elisa Moreno and Josephina Esparza, all of El Paso; 12 grandchildren, Diana, Christy, Josie, Cindy, Rachel, Joey, Michael, Steven, Sarah, Monica, Martin and Victoria; adopted grandchildren, Matthew, Anthony and Tiffany; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews, cousins and lots of friends.
We the family would like to take this time to express our utmost sincere gratitude to the staffs of Odyssey Hospice and Sienna Nursing Home for the wonderful care given to our father.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 9 p.m. today and from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, Dec. 27, 2004, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 28, 2004, at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with Ramon Rosbel officiating. Burial will follow at RoseHill cemetery.
Services by Odessa Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Joey, Michael, Steven, Scotty, Arthur, Anthony, Spriano and Tony. Honorary Pallbearer will be Martin Venegas.

Miles Owen Powell
Odessa - Miles Owen Powell, 77, of Odessa, passed away on December 23, 2004.
He was born June 8, 1927, to Miles and Ora Powell in Stephenville, Texas. He was educated in Rule, Texas, and later went off to serve in the U.S. Navy.
He married Miriam L Powell on February 22, 1955, in Odessa, Texas.
Mr. Powell worked in numerous machine shops in the Odessa and Midland area. He also worked in the oilfield industry as an Oilfield Rig Watcher, where he later retired from this industry.
He was a member of Sunset Heights Baptist Church and part of the VFW Post 4372.
Mr. Powell is survived by his wife of 49 years; five children, Janie Martinez and husband Hank of Central Heights, Ariz., Bill Powell and Bob Reeder, both of Central Heights, Ariz., Jimmie Ingram and wife Sandie of Sheboygan, Wis., and Cherryna Stinson, of Odessa, Texas, and a stepbrother, Eugene Rhoads and wife Shirley Ann of Rule, Texas; along with 16 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Sunset Heights Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004, at Sunset Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Jess Little officiating.
Family visitation will held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2004.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa with full military honors.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas.

Lorenzo O. Rivas
Odessa - Lorenzo O. Rivas, age 73, passed away Thursday, December 23, 2004, at his residence in Odessa.
He was born August 10, 1931, in Tornillo, Texas. He was self-employed as a janitor, and a member of the Holy Redeemer Catholic Church.
His wife, Maria Ulate Rivas; two children, Molly and Freddie Rivas; two brothers, Pete and Manuel Rivas; and one sister, Cuca Flores, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sons, Raul Rivas and wife Frances, Ruben Rivas and wife Olivia and Lorenzo Rivas Jr. and wife Brenda, all of Odessa; eight grandchildren, Denise, Raul Jr., Daniel, Michael, Raquel, Isaac, Lorenzo III, Eli and Yvonne; and three great-grandchildren, Sohila, Isaiah and Adison.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill cemetery.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Barbara Ann Rudd
Odessa - Barbara Ann Rudd, age 64, died Friday, December 22, 2004, at Hospice House.
She was born August 27, 1940 in Monahans, Texas, to Barge White and Mary Haynie.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Faith Community Baptist Church.
She enjoyed playing cards, pool, feeding the humming birds and spending time with her family. She was preceded in death by her parents; daughters, Vickie Standifer and Hope Hall; and brothers, Charles White and Donald White.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Rudd of Odessa; sons, Ron and wife Cathy Rudd of Mt. Pleasant, Texas, and Scott Rudd and wife Terri Rae of Odessa; daughter, Michelle and husband Doug Ragsdale of Odessa; grandchildren, Rocky, Dusti, Shane, Chris, Jeramiah, Erica, Donnie and Amber; great-grandchildren, Haylie, Stormy, Misty and Kristina; brothers, Arthur Lynn White of Odessa and Wilford Bill White of Odessa; and sister, Melba Bowers of Odessa
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

W.R. ‘Buster’ Tuttle
ODESSA - W.R. Tuttle, 89, passed away December 23, 2004, at Avalon Place in Odessa.
He was a former resident of Lamesa, Texas, for 66 years, presently residing in Odessa with his son for the past four years.
Buster was born March 29, 1915, in Abilene, Texas, to his mother, Jesse Dubose Tuttle. He was owner of Tuttle Trucking Company in Lamesa. He was an avid golfer, who loved golfing. One of his greatest accomplishments was on his 77th birthday, he broke his age by 10 shots.
Buster was preceded in death by his mother, Jesse Tuttle, and his dearly beloved wife of 45 years, Marrie Cooper Tuttle, who passed away in 1982. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Regina Tuttle.
Buster was survived by his son, Robert and wife Sherry of Odessa; and his daughters; Ann and husband Lynn Weesner and Pat and her husband, Dan Neeley, all of San Antonio, Texas. He was also survived by his grandchildren, Bobby and wife Ronda Tuttle, Mike and wife Treva Tuttle, Brad and wife Laila Weesner, Jennifer and husband David Young, Ann Marie and Chris Dillashaw, Megan and Landon Wood and Lorie Neeley. Great-grandchildren are Esteban Weesner, Anna and Sara Grace Dillashaw, Justin, Garrett, Kaci and Kayli Tuttle.
Graveside services are scheduled for 3 p.m. Monday, December 27, 2004, in Lamesa, Texas, at the Dawson County cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas.

Jeannie Ruth Clark
SAN ANGELO - Jeannie Ruth Clark, 75, of Odessa, a dietician, died Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2004, at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Jess Little officiating. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Pontotoc. She was Baptist.
Survivors Stepson, Wesley Atchison of Timber Lake, S.D.; brother, J.W. Taylor of San Angelo; and sister, Mary Gallaway of Odessa.

Lorenzo O. Rivas
ODESSA - Lorenzo O. Rivas, 73, of Odessa, a self-employed janitor, died Thursday, Dec. 23, 2004, at his residence.
