Crystal Seren Thompson

ODESSA - Crystal Seren Thompson, age 31, passed away Thursday, June 2, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born August 18, 1973, to Steve and Donna Thompson. She was a packer with Atlas Van Lines and a member of Mount Zion Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Hutchinson of Odessa; son, Zachary Burns of Tishomingo, Okla.; daughters, Tabitha Burns of Tishomingo, Okla., and Amber Hutchinson of Odessa; father, Steve Thompson of Lubbock, Texas; and mother, Donna Thompson of Alpaugh, Calif.; grandmother, Charlen of Portersville, Calif.; and sister, Amber Pendleton of Phoenix, Ariz.
Services will be held at noon Monday, June 6, 2005, at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Dewey Blevins of Mount Zion Baptist Church officiating. Burial will follow at RoseHill cemetery.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Christine Wright

ODESSA - Christine Wright, 78 years, passed away June 1, 2005, at her residence.
She was born October 11, 1926, in Laneville, Texas, to father Sam Fuller and mother Luebertha Johnson.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday, June 6, at St. James Baptist Church, with the Rev. R.T. McNeil officiating.
She is survived by daughters, Sylvia Ann Wright, Shirley Ann Wright, Lou Ethel Norris, Gaynell Wright and Janice Marie Williams, all of Odessa; sons, Joe D. Wright of Odessa and John Junior Williams of Monahans, Texas; sisters, Della Fuller and Dixie Young, both of Odessa; 21 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by son, Marvin Junior Wright of Odessa, Texas; brothers, Doris Fuller of Fort Worth, U.C. Fuller of Midland, Texas, and L.V. Fuller of St. Louis.

Kenneth Don Brooks

Pioneer - Kenneth Don Brooks, age 70, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, June 12, 2005, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was an industrial electrician in Odessa for many years.
Kenneth was born in downtown Pioneer on January 28, 1935, to Howard W. Brooks and Blanche Curry Brooks. He married Ella Louise Fielden on January 16, 1952, in Fort Stockton, Texas. They were members of the Pioneer Pentecostal Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lenda Jean Brooks; and one daughter, Terry Ella Brooks Norris.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. today, June 14, at Pioneer cemetery with Higginbotham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Ella Louise; daughters, Linda Brooks Wilson and husband, Richard, of Ruidoso, N.M., and Ramona Brooks Lewis and husband, Robert, of Las Cruces, N.M.; sister, Mona Wilson of Pioneer; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; mother-in-law, Letha Turner of Fairfield; sister-in-law, Shirley Hoffman and husband, Cotton, of Fairfield; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Donations may be made to a local hospice or the Pioneer cemetery Association, P.O. Box 699, Cross Plains, TX 76443.

Edna Riggle Brown

Odessa - Edna Riggle Brown, 89, passed away Saturday, June 11, 2005, at her residence in Odessa.
She was born Dec. 22, 1915, to Glenn and Blanche Riggle in Liberal, Kan. She married R.F. Brown Sr. Sept. 7, 1937, in Liberal, later moving to Odessa in 1954 from Snyder. She was a lifelong member of the Progressive Study Club. She was a 35-year member of the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary and a member of the Christopher Sunday School Class at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband of 44 years, R.F. Brown Sr.
Survivors include her sons, R.F. Brown Jr. and wife, Pat, of Odessa; and Randy Brown and wife, Judy, of Clay County; sister, Caroline Lowry of Colorado Springs, Colo.; four grandchildren, Elizabeth Webb of Midland; Emily Brown of Portland, Ore., Mandy Talamantez of Abbott, and Mitchell Brown of Clay County; and seven great-grandchildren, Jacob Webb, Daniel Webb, Alexander Webb, Michael Webb, Morgan Talamantez, Camen Talamantez and Creed Brown.
Services will be at 10 a.m. today, June 14, at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church with Keven Bushart officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be: Mitchell Brown, John Webb, Robert Lowry, Julian Fulp, Ernie Lynch and Al Butler.
Memorials may be made to the Medical Center Hospital Auxiliary or your favorite charity.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Perry Davis Jr.

Odessa - Perry Davis Jr., 77, passed away June 12, 2005, in Odessa, Texas.
Perry was born on October 7, 1927, in Flatonia, Texas, the oldest child of Ann and Perry Davis Sr., Perry grew up in San Antonio, Texas, and Seattle, Washington. He graduated from high school in Seattle, Washington.
Mr. Davis took great pride in serving his country in the U.S. Army Air Corps. He enlisted at the age of 17 in September of 1945 and was the youngest Second Lieutenant serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps. During the time when he was in the service, he was stationed in Texas, Florida and Alaska. Perry was discharged as a Captain in March of 1949, after 42 months of service.
After receiving an Honorable Discharge from the service, he attended the University of Texas at Austin, where he received a bachelor of arts degree in 1952 and was a member of the Sigma Phi Epsilon and Phi Beta Kappa fraternities. He then received his law degree from the University of Texas in 1954 and was a member of Phi Delta Phi fraternity.
After completing law school, Perry joined the law firm of Lang, Byrd, Cross, Ladon & Oppenheimer in San Antonio, Texas, where he practiced from 1954 to 1956. In 1956, he accepted a position with the law firm of Stubbeman, McRae, Sealy, Laughlin & Browder in Midland, Texas. In 1960, he joined the law firm of McDonald & Shafer in Odessa, Texas, which is now known as Shafer, Davis, O’Leary & Stoker. At the time of his death, Mr. Davis was serving as the senior and managing director of the law firm.
During his distinguished career, Mr. Davis specialized in civil trial law including: insurance defense, medical malpractice and products liability cases. He was a member of the Ector County Bar Association, the State Bar of Texas, Texas Association of Defense Counsel, Association of Defense Trial Attorneys and International Association of Defense Counsel. He was elected a fellow in the American College of Trial Lawyers in 1978 in recognition of his outstanding abilities in the courtroom and his esteemed character.
As a community leader, he actively supported UTPB, the Ellen Noël Art Museum, Midland-Odessa Symphony & Chorale, Commemorative Air Force, American Airpower Heritage Museum and the Pillars Club. He was an Elder in the First Presbyterian Church of Odessa.
Perry was a past President of the Odessa Country Club. He enjoyed reading, fishing, golf and the camaraderie of his many friends in the men’s locker room.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; a son, Mark Davis and his wife, Mindy, and their sons, Russell and Andrew of New Jersey; stepson, Steve Steen and his wife, Lisa, and their children, Avery and Steve, III; stepson, Robert (Rocky) Steen and his wife, Victoria (Tori), and their children, Natalie and Robert, Jr. (Robby); and stepson, Joe Kirklin and his wife, Marilyn, of Yuba City, California. He is also survived by his sister, Patricia Krueger of Rockport, Texas; and nieces, Carla Rinche and Linda Period.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ann McKenzie and Perry Davis Sr.; his wife, Martha, and their 9-year-old daughter, Laura Davis in 1976; his stepdaughter, Kim Kirklin; and his brother-in-law, Carl Krueger.
Graveside services for family only will be held Wednesday, June 15, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
A memorial service for his family and many friends will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, June 15, at the First Presbyterian Church, 1401 N. Sam Houston Ave., Odessa, Texas.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Permian Basin Rehabilitation Center of Odessa, 620 N. Alleghaney, Odessa, TX 79761; the University of Texas Permian Basin Scholarship Fund, 4901 E. University Blvd., Odessa, TX 79762; the Ector County Library, 321 W. Fifth St., Odessa, TX 79761; or the Commemorative Air Force, Box 62000, Midland, TX 79711-2000.

Irene Harris

Andrews - Funeral services for Irene Harris, 81, of Andrews, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 14, 2005, at the First Baptist Church in Andrews with the Rev. Doug Kello and Dr. Jeff Donnell officiating. Burial will follow at Andrews North cemetery. Services are under the direction of McNett Funeral Home in Andrews.
She died Sunday, June 12, 2005, at her residence in Andrews.
She was born Oct. 27, 1923, in Winston County, Ala., to Joseph Hurst Teague and Vera Emma Hand Teague. She married Jesse “Son” Harris on Nov. 22, 1941, in Haleyville, Ala. They moved to Andrews in 1951 from Haleyville. She was preceded in death by her husband on Feb. 13, 2005. She was a homemaker, a member of the Gleaner Sunday School Class and a member of the First Baptist Church in Andrews.
She is survived by her three daughters, Barbara Steward and husband, D.J., of Mount Pleasant, Sandra King and husband, Kelly, of Monahans, and Michelle Sawyer and husband, Mitch, of Andrews; five sisters, Iva Lee Kidd of Albuquerque, N.M., Vernell Morris of Seguin, Edith Jolley of Monahans, Betty Raines of Lake Dallas, and Dean Pearson of Muscle Shoales, Ala.; one brother, Travis Teague of Andrews; seven grandchildren, Teresa Baugh of Mount Pleasant, Tammie Blount of Pittsburg, Denni Steward of Mount Vernon, Jacqui Cosper and Jennifer Sullivan, both of Fort Stockton, and Kyle and Kevin Sawyer, both of Andrews; and eight great-grandchildren, Kayla, Kody, and Kendall French, all of Mount Pleasant, Christian, Keldon, and Chloe Cosper, all of Fort Stockton, and Dalton and Makena Steward, both of Mount Vernon.

Lecil Alexander Johnson

KINGSLAND - Lecil Alexander Johnson, 90, of Kingsland, Texas, died Saturday, June 11, 2005, in Wichita Falls, Texas.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m., Thursday, June 16, 2005, at Highland Lakes Church of Christ in Kingsland with Blake Altman and Randy Harris officiating. Interment will follow at Lakeland Hills cemetery under the direction of Waldrop-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home of Kingsland and Lunn’s Colonial Funeral Home of Wichita Falls, Texas.
Lecil was born November 16, 1914, in Richland, New Mexico. She was a member of Highland Lakes Church of Christ in Kingsland.
Lecil lived in Odessa, Texas, from 1945 to 1964, where her main interest was rearing Godly children. She worked at Odessa College and Elliot’s Interiors for a short time and loved to sew, cook and garden. She and her husband, Clifton A. Johnson, retired to Christoval, Texas, before moving to Kingsland in 1977.
Mrs. Johnson was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Clifton A. Johnson; parents, Joseph W. and Miriam Alexander; brothers, J.W. and Oneal Alexander; sisters, Tennie Partin and Garner Vee Vick; and great-grandson, Jace Alexander Altman.
She is survived by a son, Clinton O. Johnson and wife, Pat, of Kerrville; two daughters, LaVon Darville and husband, Wayne, of Odessa, and Doris Altman and husband, Bill, of Wichita Falls; three sisters, Pauline Brower and Elva Smithson, both of California, and Norma Ruth Pickett of Arizona; two brothers, Johnny Alexander of California, and Charlie Alexander of Arizona; ten grandchildren, Kim Johnson Eoff and husband, Ben, of Farmington, Arkansas, Mark Darville and wife, Bonnie, of Odessa, Kevin Johnson and wife, Pam, of Pueblo, Colorado, Kris Johnson of Denver, Colorado, Brian Altman and wife, Kristi, of Plano, Dana Darville Johnson of Abilene, Kellie Johnson Harris and husband, Randy, of Fayette, Alabama, Brad Altman and wife, SueAnn, of Wichita Falls, Amy Darville Deans and husband, Greg, of Murphy, and Blake Altman and wife, Lauren, of Dallas; nineteen great-grandchildren, Kyla Johnson Thompson and husband, Caleb, Tyler Johnson, Megan Eoff, Ross Darville, Mallory Eoff, Shane Darville, Ryan Johnson, Lindsey Eoff, Aspen Harris, Madison Harris, Lauren Eoff, Dakota Harris, Broderick Johnson, Kendall Deans, Parker Altman, Brooke Altman, Nathan Deans, John William Altman and Brinley Faith Altman; and two great-great-grandchildren, Casen and Brady Thompson.
The family will receive visitors from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wednesday evening at Waldrop-Hatfield-Hawthorne Funeral Home.
Memorials may be sent to Hospice of Wichita Falls, Rolling Meadows Retirement Foundation, New Mexico Christian Children’s Home in Portales, New Mexico or Medina Children’s Home in Medina, Texas.

Frances Rothwell Kammerlohr

ODESSA - Frances Rothwell Kammerlohr, 98, born March 11, 1907, died June 18, 2005, at her residence at Sherwood Place in Odessa.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Dale Kammerlohr and is survived by her daughters, Virginia Park and husband John of Rolling Hills, Calif., Diana Cooke and husband Steven of Odessa and Lynda Walker and husband Robert of Hendersonville, N.C.
Grandchildren include Laurie and Jerry Pierson, Beverly and John Park, Terry and Brian Cooke, Trace and Dean Maltsberger and family, Jan and Riley Walker and Robert Walker. Great-grandchildren are Cara Pierson, Eric Pierson, Julia Park, Hunter Park, Cambrie Cooke, Keegan Cooke, Rachel Walker and Mary Campbell Walker.
Frances was born in Highland Park, Calif., and graduated from Franklin High School in California and attended the University of California at Los Angeles (UCLA). She was active in the Girl Scouts and enjoyed sports, flower arranging, music, being with people and Bingo. Her family was the most important priority throughout her life.
In 1927, she married Howard Kammerlohr in Los Angeles. They were transferred to Port Washington, N.Y., in 1948, and then retired to Santa Barbara, Calif., in 1967. Frances then relocated to Odessa and became a resident of Sherwood Place in June 2000.
Her family wishes to thank the staff and residents of Sherwood Place, Home Hospice and her many friends for their prayers and loving care.
Memorials may be made to St. Barnabas Carillon Fund and Home Hospice.
No services are scheduled at this time.

Mrs. J.S. (Willie Belle Forbes) Wade Sr.

IRAAN - Graveside services were held Saturday, June 18, 2005, for Mrs. J.S. (Willie Bell Forbes) Wade. Arrangements were under the direction of Shaffer-Nichols Funeral Home of Crane.
Mrs. Wade was born Aug. 5, 1907, to Jesse and Vina Belle McLaughlin Forbes in Spring Creek, Texas, and died Wednesday, June 15 in Austin, Texas. Mrs. Wade and her husband, J.S. Wade Sr., moved to Iraan in 1936, where they were engaged in oilfield construction during the development of the Yates Field and the construction of many West Texas highways.
She is survived by her five children, Gloria Morgan, Dorothy Hudman, Honey Hull, J.S. “Jesse” Wade Jr. and SueAnn Wade-Crouse; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.
Her life was filled with public service, kindness to others and travels. She was a graduate of Sul Ross State University and accumulated many graduate hours at the University of Texas at Austin. Mrs. Wade served for 19 years as the accountant for her and her husband’s construction company, and then taught school in the Sheffield-Iraan Public Schools for 16 years.
She was very active in the Iraan Methodist Church, serving as a Certified Lay Speaker, an officer of the Wesleyan Service Guild, was president of the United Methodist Women for nine years and was awarded a Life Membership as Honorary Recognition.
Mrs. Wade served on the Pecos County Historical Commission, the Permian Basin Historical Society and the West Texas Historical Association and researched and compiled historical data that was subsequently published as a history of Pecos County. She was successful in acquiring two historical markers in Pecos County and was significantly involved in the creation of the Iraan Museum. In recognition of her significant service to the preservation of history in Texas, she received a Commendation for Distinguished Service from the State History Commission and many other honors.
She established and chaired the Iraan Public Library Committee and was successful in getting the library funded for the first time in the Pecos County budget. She served as the first voluntary librarian and was the chair of the Friends of the Library.
Mrs. Wade was actively involved as a 34-year member of the American Association of University Women and a 36-year member of Delta Kappa Gamma Honorary Teachers Association. She also served as an officer to those organizations for many years.
Mrs. Wade traveled extensively including Europe, Hawaii and Alaska and lived briefly in England and Spain. She was very involved in democratic politics and enjoyed audiences with many highly recognized leaders, including several presidents and governors.
Mrs. Wade, Willie, Mother, Mom, Mommie and/or Memaw will be most remembered for her steadfast quiet support to family, local citizens and strangers, never saying anything bad about anyone, her love of history, learning and reading, her unusual style, her coconut cake and her unflagging energy. She lived long, left a legacy of public service, loving family and friends and died peacefully.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be made to the Pecos County Historical Commission, 103 W. Callaghan, Fort Stockton, TX, 79735, the Iraan First Methodist Church, General Delivery, Iraan, TX 79781, or to the Iraan Public Library, General Delivery, Iraan, TX 79781.

Erin Hunter Patterson

HOUSTON - Erin Hunter Patterson was born to Ken and Anne Hunter on Oct. 26, 1963, in Albany, N.Y.
She was raised in Burleson, Texas, with her siblings, Shawn, Kevin and Margaret.
Erin married Scott Patterson on Aug. 20, 1994. They had three children, Daniel, Mary and Ryan.
Erin was a devoted wife and mother. She attended Texas A&M University and South Texas College of Law. After graduation, Erin worked as a trial lawyer.
She passed away Thursday, June 16, 2005, from breast cancer.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Koman Breast Cancer Foundation or the Baylor College of Medicine.
Visitation will be held at 7 p.m. today at Earthman Hunters Creek Funeral Home, 8303 Katy Freeway.
Erin’s funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 20, 2005, at St. Cecilia’s Catholic Church. A reception will be held at the church immediately after the mass.
A private interment will follow.
