J.B. Hennigan

ODESSA - J.B. Hennigan, 86, of Odessa, passed away on Feb. 24, 2005, at Seabury Nursing Center.
He was born on Feb. 5, 1919 in Gandy, LA, where he attended school; he also went to East Texas Baptist College in Marshal, TX. He married Mary E. Blaylock on Dec. 30, 1945, in Beaumont, TX. He pastored churches in Texas and New Mexico, he retired after 40 years and continued preaching for 10 more years.
J.B. is survived by his wife, Mary Hennigan; daughters Mary Ann Hamm, of Mesquite, Gail Adkins, of Odessa; son, Donald Hennigan of Rankin, TX; brother, Ralph (Buddy) Hennigan, of Shreveport, LA; sisters, Eloise McClarey, of Florien, LA and Jessie Lee Pilkenton, of Leesville, LA; He is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services are scheduled for Monday, February 28, 2005, at 3 p.m. at Friendship Baptist Church.
Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Pallbearers will be grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, Seabury Nursing Center or Odessey Hospice.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Josephine Cotton McBride

ODESSA - Josephine Cotton McBride, 71, of Odessa, passed away on Feb. 24, 2005, at her residence. Josephine was born on May 21, 1933, in Abernathy, TX where she also attended school.
Services are scheduled for Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at 10 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Mike Bartlett officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Josephine was preceded in death by her parents, Walties and Lucy Jane Cotton; her husband, Doyle G. McBride; son, David Ray McBride; three brothers, Russell, Ernest, and Leroy Cotton; and a sister, Imogene Amerson.
Josephine is survived by her children, Bobbie Jo Dirden and husband Richard, Mary Smith and husband Barney, Michael Gene McBride and wife Anna, Russell Wayne McBride and wife Reba all of Odessa; her sister, Janett Hays of Lubbock. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and two on the way as well as many nieces and nephews.
The family requests that memorials be made to Hospice House.

Leandro Rodriguez Navarrette

Odessa - Leandro Rodriguez Navarrette, 81, of Odessa, passed away Thursday, Feb. 24, 2005, at his residence.
Mr. Navarrette was born Dec. 14, 1923, in Barstow to Alcario and Isa Rodriguez Navarrette. He united in marriage to Basilisa “Licha” Martinez Oct. 11, 1944, in Cuchillo Parado, Chihuahua Mexico. He was a Christian Catholic and a Heavy Machine operator in the Construction Industry.
He was preceded in death by parents; brother, Victor Navarrette; and sister, Socorro Barron.
He is survived by his Wife, Basilisa “Licha” M. Navarrette; his sons, Adolfo Nabarrette and wife, Graciela, and Bibian Nabarrette and Sylvia; his daughters, Anita Carrillo and husband, Jody, Maria N. Espinoza and Rafael Rios, and Lucy Gonzalez and husband, Eliseo, all of Odessa; his brothers: Sabas Navarrette, and Jose “Pepe” Navarrette, both of Odessa; sisters, Natividad N. Cruz, Juanita N. Gonzalez, both of Odessa; 12 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by numerous nieces; nephews; cousins; and a lot of friends.
We the family would like to take this time to express our utmost sincere gratitude to each and every one of you for your prayers; food; floral offerings; and your presence with us during these times of sorrow. A special heartfelt embrace to Joann Cortez for allowing countless hours away from her family to give that special loving care to her grandfather. She has always being attentive to his bedside needs. To all the staff at Odyssey Hospice, thank you as well for all the wonderful care that was given to my husband and Father Leandro.
A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 28, 2005, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Joseph Uecker officiating. Interment to follow at Rosehill cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Michael Espinoza, Steven Cortez, Christopher Nabarrette, Michael Nabarrette, Justin
Cortez and Steven Cortez Jr.
Services are by Odessa Funeral Home.

Lenora Bell Harris-Sandell

Odessa - Lenora Bell Harris-Sandell, 92, of Odessa, passed away Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2005, at Seabury Nursing Center.
She was born Nov. 29, 1912, in Perry County, Ark., where she was raised and attended school. She was a member of the Sunset Heights Baptist Church and she worked as a seamstress.
Lenora is preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Martha Holbrook; husband, Odis Harris; second husband, Ralph Sandell; brothers, John Holbrook and Willie Holbrook; sister, Connie Phillips; and son, John Harris.
Lenora is survived by her children, James Harris and wife, Linda, of Odessa, and Jerry Harris and wife, Sylia, of El Fuerte, Sinaloa, Mexico; and brother, Lonnie Holbrook of Perryville, Ark. She is also survived by too many grandchildren and great-grandchildren to count.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 1, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel with Jess Little officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Services are entrusted to Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.

Mary Margaret McDonald Beard

Odessa - She said she would be going home on Sunday, and when her loving heavenly Father called, we let go her hand and said goodbye.
Mary Margaret McDonald Beard was embraced by the loving arms of her Lord on Sunday, March 20, 2005. She was born Dec. 13, 1933, to Ola Mae Keller McDonald and Richard Martelle McDonald in Big Spring. Margaret moved from Big Spring with her family to Odessa in 1947. She met the love of her life, William Carl Beard in 1947 at Crockett Junior High School in Odessa. Margaret graduated from Odessa High School in 1951 and spent her freshmen year of college at Baylor University in Waco. Margaret and Carl married May 29, 1952.. Together, they attended the University of Arizona and graduated in 1955.
Margaret’s legacy, and her pride and joy, was her family. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. For forty years, Margaret made Sunday lunches a special time for her family. During this time she passed on many family traditions and testimony that will live on for generations to come.Margaret made her profession of fatih in Jesus Christ at a young age. She has served First Baptist Church Odessa faithfully, since 1955 on many committees and in different areas of the fellowship.
Margaret was a gifted school teacher and served Ector County Independent School District for thirty seven years. She was part of Delta Kappa Gamma and the Odessa Study Club. Her knowledge, kindness and grace made her a wonderfull mentor for young people.
Margaret was preceded on her journey home by her parents, Ola Mae Keller and Richard Martelle McDonald and her sister, Doris Ann Salmon.
She is survived by her husband, Carl Beard; sons, Marty Beard, Randy Beard and his wife, Sandra, both of Odessa; daughter, Molly Taylor and her husband, Dennis Taylor, of Hewitt. She is also survived by seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Family visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. A Memorial Service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 23 at First Baptist Church of Odessa.
The family suggests memorials to the children’s area or the library at First Baptist Church.
For her family and friends, we find it hard to let her go, but we know heaven rejoiced and welcomed her home.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Boby E. Lee Fleming

Odessa - Boby E. Lee Fleming, 69, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2005, at Hospice House in Odessa, TX.
He was born December 2, 1935, to Clarence and Jessie Mae Fleming in Oklahoma City. He married Sarah Jeannette Lightfoot on March 2, 1964, in Juarez, Mexico. He served in the U. S. Air Force and was an office manager in the oil industry.
His wife and his parents, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his son, Thomas Fleming and wife, Kathy, of Odessa; daughter, Sarah McPherson and husband, Darrell, of Odessa; brothers, Don Fleming of Seminole, and Don Dennis and Louis Dennis, both of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren, Steven Fleming and wife, Angela, Jessica Banda and husband, Joe, Danielle McPherson, Laura Johnson and husband, Don, and Brandon McPherson; and four great-grandchildren, Courtney, Meagan, Kylea, and Coby.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Today at Victory Temple Assembly of God Church. Interment will be at Belview cemetery in Rotan.
The family suggests memorials to Home Hospice.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Ann Averett Motl

SAN ANGELO - Ann Averett Motl, 70, of San Angelo, passed away Friday, March 18, 2005, after a brief period of cancer related illness.
She was born Feb. 18, 1935 in Coleman to Robert C. and Bryson Dial Averett. She married James D. Motl June 14, 1952.
Ann is survived by her husband; three daughters, Nan and husband, Guy Hadorn Jr. and Martha Motl, both of San Angelo, and Debra and husband, Steve Lewis, of Odessa; four granddaughters, Rebecca, Rachel and Paige Lewis of Odessa, and Lisa Hadorn of San Angelo; one great-grandson, Jason Kale-Hadorn of San Angelo; one sister, Louise and husband, Raymond Steward, of Odessa; two brothers, Jack Averett and wife, Elouise, of San Antonio, and John Averett and wife, Audrey, of Statesboro, Ga.; two special nieces, Judy and husband, Mel Wideman, of Lubbock, and Karen and husband, Eric Echols, of Arizona; one special nephew, Ronnie Steward of Odessa; one sister-in-law, Billye and husband, Ted Kyle, of Pittsburgh, Pa.; and one brother-in-law, W. M. “Mickey” Jones of San Angelo; and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was preceded in death by parents; and one sister, Evelyn McClelland.
Special thanks to Hospice of San Angelo for all their assistance and care: Especially Lea, registered nurse, and Michelle, RN.
Private graveside services will be at Fairmount cemetery with Bob Thayer of Odessa Bible Church officiating.
The family ask that memorials be made to Hospice of San Angelo.
Services are under direction of Shaffer Funeral Home of San Angelo.

Ernest Albert Scheible Jr.

Midland - Ernest Albert Scheible Jr. of Midland, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2005.
He was born March 8, 1917, to Ernest Albert Scheible and Pauline Juliana Radeke Scheible in Humble and attended school there. Ernest served in the US Army from Feb. 26, 1941, to Feb. 21, 1945. He served during World War II in the European Theater in Germany. He was honorably discharged as a Master Sgt. He received a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star. Ernest worked for Texaco for 45 years, retiring as area supervisor in Kermit. Upon retirement, he enjoyed 17 years on Lake Livingston in the piney woods of Texas. Ernest relocated to Midland for the last few years of his life.
He was preceded in death by his father; mother; four sisters; one brother; and one daughter.
Ernest is survived by his wife, Klietamae Scheible of Midland; son, Tom Scheible and his wife, Mary, of Houston; two grandsons, Austin Scheible of Austin, and Zane Scheible of New Caney; a special brother-in-law, Bill Leonard of Huntsville; and several nieces and nephews.
He was a member of Alamo Heights Baptist Church of Midland. Ernest was a faithful member in various Baptist cChurches, where he taught Sunday School and served in other areas.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. today at Alamo Heights Baptist Church with the Rev. Gary L. Redwine officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park. Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home.
Memorials may be directed to Home Hospice, 901 W. Missouri Ave., Midland, TX 79701.

Ruby Truex

Midland - Ruby Truex, of Midland, passed away Saturday, March 19, 2005.
She was born June 23, 1918, in Lynn County to William Jackson Long and Fannie M. Wickliffe Long and was reared and educated there. She married William Roy Truex on May 26, 1936, in Midland. She was employed at Midland Memorial Hospital as a cook and dietician. She went into private nursing care, after leaving Midland Memorial Hospital.
Ruby was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, W. R. Truex; sons, Eldon Truex, Neil Truex, William Truex and Gary Truex; daughter, Belinda Merriman; brothers, Charles Long, Robert Long, William Long and Muriel Long; sisters, Edna Stephens and Rachel White; and one grandchild, Danny Merriman Jr.
She is survived by her daughters, Lois Ruth Friedrichs and Patricia Boydston; sons, Dearl Truex, Noel Wayne Truex and Ronald Truex; 14 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. today at Ellis Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Myron Unruh officiating. Interment will follow at Resthaven Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Michael Campbell, Gary Truex, Robert Friedrichs, Neil Truex, Jerrod Truex and Stephen Truex.
Honorary pallbearers are Jimmy Friedrichs, James Friedrichs, Jonathon Furman, Tommy White, Richard White and James White.
Arrangements are under the direction of Ellis Funeral Home, 801 Andrews Hwy, Midland, 432-683-5555.

Stacy Stamps Whalen

ODESSA - Stacy Stamps Whalen, 32, a homemaker, of Odessa passed away Thursday, March 17, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
She was born April 27, 1972, to Jerry Wade and Carol Stamps in Andrews.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Terry Wright officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Carol Ann Stamps; and brother, Jerry Wade Stamps Jr.
She is survived by her husband, Carey Whalen; sons, Jeffery Stamps and Joey Martin; father and stepmother, Jerry Wade Stamps Sr. and Margaret Stamps; sister, Cindy Stamps and twin sister, Tracy Stamps King of Lake Elsinore, Calif.; brothers, Greg Stamps, Mark Stamps and Cory Morris of Kingsland; and many nieces, nephews, and loving friends and family.
Pall bearers for the service include Jason Anderson, Dale McKinley, Wayne Anderson, Charlie Webb, Mark Stamps, Rob King, David Foreman and Ray Collins.
Stacy was a very special lady. She was loved by everyone whose lives she touched. She accepted everyone regardless of their status. A sweeter person will never walk this earth.
The love of her life was her newly found best friend and husband, Carey, and she was his best friend and the love of his life.
Stacy’s oldest son, Jeffery, shared with the family how much he loves and misses his mother and recalls being his mom’s best friend at various times in their lives.
Stacy’s youngest son, Joey always brought a smile to his mom’s face by saying she was the greatest mom in the world. Joey used to ask his mom if it hurt when she fell from heaven. Joey’s fondest memories are shooting pool with his mom.
Stacy’s twin sister, Tracy, would like to express her most sincere appreciation to Stacy for being her best and sometimes only friend her entire life. Stacy was and still is her everything. Their unbreakable bond will be cherished for eternity. Tracy will forever love and miss her Stacy.
Stacy’s oldest sister, Cindy, expresses that she always envied Stacy. She wanted to be just like her. She learned so much from Stacy. She was her hero. Stacy will live forever in her heart.
Stacy’s brother, Greg, remembers all of the wonderful times that they spent driving around in her car, listening to music. He cherishes each and every memory of her.
Stacy’s dad and stepmother are so proud of Stacy. She is a precious daughter that has enriched the lives of all around her. She was a wonderful mother.
Gone is Stacy, but her memory lingers in the minds of the people whose lives she touched —forever.
