Dr. John P. Hansen
Dallas - Dr. John P. Hansen, 77, of Swatara, Minn. and Dallas, died Sunday, May 15, 2005, at his residence in Dallas.
He was born Feb. 11, 1928, in Bain, Minn. to Charles and Henrietta (Taylor) Hansen. He was a U.S. Army veteran servingin occupied Japan and Korea. He married Doris Dropps Sept. 9, 1950. He earned a bachelors degree in 1954, a Masters degree in 1955 and a Ph.D. in 1958, all from the University of Minnesota. He worked for the U.S. Bureau of Mines in Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Minneapolis. He was Professor Emeritus and Professor of Metallurigical Engineering at the University of Alabama. He was a research scientist for the Army Missile Command and the Alabama Geological Survey. He was noted in Who’s Who of America for his research with space metals.
Funeral services were held May 19 at the United Methodist Church in Hill City with the Rev. David Brown officiating. Burial was in Macville cemetery in Swatara, Minn. Arrangements are by Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home of Aitkin, Minn.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 11, at Christ Lutheran Church in Dallas.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Haacke; and sisters, Audrey Lund and Joyce Walker.
He is survived by his wife, Doris; sons and daughters-in-law, Steven and Sharon, Bradley and Charlene, and Kurt and Marjorie; five grandchildren; brothers and sisters-in-law, Carlton and Ginny Hansen; Lewis and Dorothy Hansen; Charles Hansen; and Malcolm “Mick” Hansen and Patricia Haacke; sisters and brother-in-law, Margaret Anderegg and Lois and Donald Carlson. Survivors in the Odessa area include Mrs. Anderegg and her sons, Dennis (Jeneane) Anderegg, Mark (Cindy) Anderegg, Major Tony (Elaine) Anderegg, and Clare (Lea) Andregg; and her daughter, Gloria (Lloyd) Bluhm.

Earnestine ‘Tina’ Claiborne
Odessa - Earnestine “Tina” Claiborne, 75, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Sept. 13, 2005, at Hospice House.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at RoseHill cemetery with the Rev. Marcella Bassett officiating. Arrangements are by Odessa Funeral Home.
She was born in Shawnee, Okla.
Survivors Son, Bryan Claiborne of Temple; daughters, Marilyn Turner of Cedarburg, Wis., Karen Claiborne of Odessa and Pamela Turner of Belton; sisters; Ann Machalek and Beulah Warren, both of Temple, and Jarildean Davis of Dalhart; nine grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Gloria Earlene Felton Foster
Pampa - Gloria Earlene Felton Foster, 79, of Deer Park, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at her residence.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Memory Gardens cemetery with the Rev. Richard Bartel officiating. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
She was born in Enid, Okla., and was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors Sons, Rick Foster of Pampa, Joe Foster of Odessa and Chuck Foster of Boerne; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

James E. Gatlin Sr.
Abilene - James E. Gatlin Sr., of Abilene, a former heavy equipment operator and truck driver, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital in Abilene.
Memorial services will be at 3 p.m. today at Northwest Church of Christ. Arrangements are by North Funeral Home.
He was born in Bowie County, was a Marine veteran and a former Odessa resident.
Survivors Wife, Netta Foster; sons, Jay Gatlin and Jerry Gatlin, both of Odessa, and Billy C. Gatlin of Boone, Calif.; daughters, Linda Swain of Marks, Miss., and Mary Nagel of Brownwood; stepdaughter, Cindy Howell of Clyde; brother, William Gatlin of Brownwood; sister, Dale Reynolds of Odessa; 21 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Floyd R. (Gray) Morris
Odessa - Floyd R. (Gray) Morris, of Odessa, a retired Phillips Petroleum Co. employee and Newport Plumbing employee, died Monday, Sept. 12, 2005, at his residence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. today at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Steve Grace officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born in Walters, Okla.
Survivors Wife, Tommie Jo Callaway; son, Floyd Ray Morris of Vernal, Utah; daughters, Margie Murray, Virgie Martin and Kay Lovell, all of Odessa, and Patsy Hubbard of The Woodlands; brothers, Coy Gray of Anderson, Calif., and Neal Gray of Cottonwood, Ariz., and Goldie of Idaho Falls, Idaho; 16 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren.

Paul Ybarra Rodriguez
Sheffield - Paul Ybarra Rodriguez, 36, of Monahans, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, in Galveston.
Rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Friday at the church with the Rev. Serifin Avenido officiating. Burial will be at Sheffield cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton.
He was born in McCamey.
Survivors Wife, Melissa E. Rodriguez of Monahans; daughters, Hali Brianna Sparks Rodriguez of Rankin; stepdaughter, Selena Balderas; parents, Albert and Cruz Rodriguez of Odessa; brothers, Joe Rodriguez and Ricky Rodriguez, both of Odessa, and John Rodriguez of Sheffield; sisters, Suzanne Ramirez of Sheffield and Yolanda Chavez of Odessa; and grandparent, Antonio Ybarra of Sheffield.

Lucille Slocomb
Odessa - Lucille Slocomb, 95, of Odessa, a retired schoolteacher, died Sunday, Sept. 11, 2005, at Parks Methodist Retirement Center.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Terry Tamplen of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Arrangements are by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
She was born in Miles and was a member of First United Methodist Church.
Survivors Son, Bill Slocomb of Leesville, S.C.; brother, Hollice Lyle of Alice; and one grandchild.

Seminole - Olga Castillo, 72, of Seminole, died Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2005, at her residence.

Andrews - Connie Underwood, 89, of Andrews, died Wednesday, Aug. 14, 2005, at Permian Regional Medical Center in Andrews.

‘Bobby’ Edwardo Arredondo
Odessa - “Bobby” Edwardo Arredondo, 42, of Odessa, a supervisor, died Saturday, Sept. 3, 2005, at his residence.
Rosary will be said today at 7 p.m. at Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapels & Crematory. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Uecker officiating.
Survivors Parents, Erasmo Arredondo and Clara Arredondo; brothers, Joe Erasmo Arredondo of Apache Junction, Ariz., Ernie Arredondo of Memphis, Tenn., and Sammy Arredondo of Odessa; and sisters, Mary Lopez, Sylvia Saucedo and Berlinda Lopez, all of Odessa, and Connie Polk of Arlington.

Neva Bennett
Andrews - Neva Bennett, 91, of Andrews, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, in Andrews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Andrews Church of Christ with Mark Wilson, Rodney Noble, Moody Conner and the Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating. Burial will be at Andrews Old cemetery. Arrangements are by McNett Funeral Home.
She was born in Checatoh, Okla., and was a member of the Andrews Church of Christ.
Survivors Daughters, Ellen Hoffman of Andrews, and Phyliss Bain of Shreveport, La.; five grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

Barstow - Ed Carr, 74, of Monahans, a machinist, died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2005, in Odessa.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Barstow cemetery. Arrangements are by Family Funeral Services/Jackie Harkey.
He was born in Pecos.

Petra Rodriguez Castaneda
Sheffield - Petra Rodriguez Castaneda, 93, of Sheffield, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at her residence.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at Good Shepherd Catholic Church with the Rev. Serifin Avenido officiating. Burial will be at Sheffield cemetery.
She was born in Sanderson.
Survivors Sons, Adrian Castaneda of Midland, Alejandro Castaneda of Sheffield, Osbauldo Castaneda of Sonora and Alfredo Castaneda of Cameron; daughters, Lenora Medina of Sheffield, and Lucille “Lucy” Hargis of Bastrop; 55 grandchildren; 97 great-grandchildren; and 29 great-great-grandchildren.

Kermit - Maurine Hanks, 92, of Georgetown, died Thursday, Sept. 1, 2005, in Georgetown.

She was born in Leon, Okla.

William Landa Jr.
Odessa - William Landa Jr., 70, of Odessa, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at his residence.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Odessa Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Miller officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He was born in Pittsburg.
Survivors Sons, Billy Landa of Odessa, and Charles “Chuckie” Landa of Pittsburg; daughters, Sherri Ash of Dallas, and Debbie Landa of Pittsburg; brother, Ronald Landa of Pittsburg; and 11 grandchildren.

Antonio Madrid
Odessa - Antonio Madrid, 95, of Odessa, a rancher, died Monday, Sept. 5, 2005, at Medical Center Hospital.
Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Francis Frey officiating. Burial will be at RoseHill cemetery. Arrangements are by Odessa Funeral Home.
He was born in Shafter and was a Catholic.
Survivors Sons, Jesus Madrid, Alberto Madrid and Basilio Madrid, all of Odessa; daughter, Manuel Madrid of Austin; 14 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.

Vicksburg, Miss. - George “Bob” Moore, 77, of Bovina, Miss., an oilfield well service person, died Sunday, Sept. 4, 2005, at the V.A. Hospital in Jackson, Miss.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Edwards cemetery with the Rev. Greg Clemts officiating. Arrangements are by Frank J. Fisher Funeral Home of Vicksburg, Miss.
He was born in Fort Towson, Okla.
Survivors Wife, Barbara Henley Moore of Bovina, Miss.; son, Bobby Moore of Bovina; daughters, Debra Fahlstrom and Euna Moore, both of Bovina; sister, Juanita Brooks of Paris, Texas; and six grandchildren.

Daniel ‘Buster’ Lynn Nimmons
Texas City - Daniel “Buster” Lynn Nimmons, 33, of Texas City, died Friday, Sept. 2, 2005, in Dickinson, Texas.

He was born in Odessa. He was a former Odessa resident.
