Violet McClain

LAMESA -- Violet McClain, 78, of Lamesa, a homemaker, died Sunday, May 31, 1998, at St. Mary of the Plains Hospital.

Burial will be at 10 a.m. today at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. today at First Baptist Church Chapel with the Revs. Lomer Green and Dennis Teeters officiating. Arrangements by Branon Funeral Home.

She was born in Dothan and moved to Lamesa in 1994 from Odessa. She was Baptist.

Survivors: Daughter, Martha Gerber of Lamesa; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Lee Nunn

KERMIT -- Lee Nunn, 78, of Kermit, a homemaker, died Friday, May 29, 1998, at Odessa Regional Hospital.

Graveside services were held June 1, 1998, at Kermit cemetery with the Rev. Gary Seelau officiating. Arrangements by Cooper Funeral Chapel Inc. She was born in Vivian, La., and had been a resident of Kermit for 40 years. She was Methodist.

Survivors: Daughter, B.J. Mann of Kermit; brothers, Franklin McMillan Jr. of San Antonio, Travis McMillan of Tow; sister, Lois Hicks of Blanco; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Dorothy Sherrod

ODESSA -- Dorothy Lee Sherrod, 69, of Odessa died Saturday, May 30, 1998, in Corona, Calif.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at Northside Baptist Church with the Rev. Glenn Harlin officiating. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements by Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

She was born in Sapulpa, Okla.

Survivors: Son, Scott Sherrod of Sugarland; brothers, J.D. Hill of Kilgore, Billy R. Hill of Ojai, Calif.; sister, Geneva Ackley of Corona, Calif.; and two grandchildren.

Iva Werneking

ATHENS -- Iva Nell Werneking, 88, of Seminole died Sunday, May 31, 1998, at Seminole Memorial Hospital.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Foster & Brown Funeral Home Chapel with Randall Ator officiating. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memorial Park cemetery. Arrangements by Foster & Brown Funeral Home.

She was born in Athens. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

Survivors: Son, Weldon Werneking of Austin; daughter, Carlene Chandler of Seminole; sisters, Bonnie Arthur of Athens, Odi Faye Brown of Seagoville; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.

Alcario Marruffo

ODESSA -- Alcario Marruffo Sr., 85, of Odessa, died Sunday, May 31, 1998, at Medical Center Hospital.

Services are pending with Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Gerrel Raney

ODESSA -- Gerrel B. Raney, 76, of Robert Lee, died Monday, Juen 1, 1998, at his residence.

Services are pending with Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Virginia Gamboa

PECOS -- Virginia Gamboa, 80, of Pecos, a homemaker, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, at her home.

Rosary was said Sunday, May 31, 1998, at 7:30 p.m. at the Pecos Funeral Home Chapel. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. today at Santa Rosa Catholic Church with the Rev. Antonio Mena officiating. Burial will be at Greenwood cemetery. Arrangements by Pecos Funeral Home.

She was born in Marathon and lived in Pecos most of her life. She was Catholic.

Survivors: Sons, Anastacio Gamboa, Liberato Gamboa and Ismael Gamboa, all of Pecos and Robert Gamboa of Coyanosa; daughters, Rosa Peticolas of El Paso, Maria Castenada of Coyanosa, Corina Pando and Sue Carrasco, both of Pecos; brother, Joe Vasquez of Fort Stockton; sisters, Herminia Rodriguez and Dionicia Vasquez, both of Fort Stockton, Juana Moralez of Roseville, Calif., Maria Bass of Carlsbad, N.M., and Manuela Villalba of El Paso; 19 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Fred Rice

TULSA, OKLA. -- Fred Rice, 78, of Tulsa, Okla., a retired employee of Amerada-Hess, died Sunday, May 31, 1998, at Southern Hills Rehabilitation Center in Tulsa.

Services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Community Chapel with the Rev. Ernest Wall officiating. Burial will follow at Gaines County Memorial cemetery. Arrangements by Boyer Funeral Home.

He was born in Floydada, and he moved from Seminole to Tulsa in 1974. He was Baptist.

Survivors: Wife, Jo Helen "Joey" Rice of Tulsa, Okla.; daughter, Virginia "Ginger" Test of Abilene; brother, J.C. Rice of Seminole; two grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Dorothy Sherrod

ODESSA -- Dorothy Lee Sherrod, 69, of Odessa, died Saturday, May 30, 1998, in Corona, Calif.

Bob Bowden

MONAHANS -- Bob J. Bowden, 70, of Monahans, a retired rancher, died Saturday, May 30, 1998.

Services will be held at 10:15 a.m. Monday at First United Methodist Church in Monahans with the Rev. David Snyman officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery.

He was born in Corsicana, and he was a Navy veteran of both World War II and the Korean War. He was Methodist.

Survivors: Wife, Charlene Bowden of Monahans; daughters, Lu Anne Hostler of Phoenix, Ariz., Sue Ellen Lamm of Nausa, N.H., and Barbara Lynn Peieffer of San Angelo; brother, Jack L. Bowden of Grand Junction, Colo; sister, Frances Weaver of Arlington; and four grandchildren.

Susie Dial

LAWTON, OKLA. -- Susie B. Riggan Dial, 92, of Lawton, Okla., a retired teacher, died Friday, May 29, 1998, at her home.

Services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Bearden Methodist Church in Bearden, Ark. Burial will be at Moss Hill cemetery in Bearden. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home.

She was born on Cooney, Ark., and she was a newspaper writer and a member of the Arkansas Education Society. She was Methodist.

Survivors: Son, Keith Dial of Odessa; daughter, Freda Benton of Lawton, Okla.; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

ANDREWS -- Elsie Green, 68, of Andrews, died Friday, May 29, 1998, at Permian General Hospital in Andrews.
