Rev. Charles Joseph de Vesine Larue

SAN ANTONIO - The Rev. Charles Joseph de Vesine Larue, retired priest of the Roman Catholic Diocese of San Angelo, where he served from June of 1993 to January of 1996, died Monday in San Antonio following a lengthy illness. He was 74.
A Rosary will be said for Father Larue at 7 p.m. Friday at Frank Wilson Funeral Directors in Odessa with Deacon Alan Neff presiding. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Marys Catholic Church in Odessa with the Rev. Michael D. Pfeifer, OMI, bishop of the Diocese of San Angelo, as the principal celebrant and the Rev. Francis Frey, pastor of St. Marys Catholic Church, will be the homilist. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Father Larue, born in New Orleans on September 19, 1930, served as Parochial Vicar at St. Ann’s Church in Midland, St. Josephs Church in Stanton, and St. Isidore Mission in Lenorah from June of 1993 to October of 1994. He then served as assistant pastor at Sacred Heart Cathedral in San Angelo, from October 1994-November 1996 before his retirement.
Father Larue was ordained a priest by Bishop Pfeifer at Sacred Heart Cathedral in San Angelo on June 26, 1993, at the age of 63.
The son of Ferdinand Louis de Vesine Larue and Elizabeth Corinne Bonnecaze, Father Larue graduated from New Orleans Jesuit High School in 1948 and served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1949. He then graduated from Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge, La., in 1954 with a bachelor of science degree in accounting.
In 1954, Fr. Larue went to work for a small independent oil company and eventually for Steck-Warlick Printing Co. in Dallas. He transferred with the company to Austin in 1969 and returned to Dallas with Steck-Warlick in 1973.
Father Larue moved to Odessa in 1974 where he began work as assistant treasurer and controller for Area Builders and Clyde Construction Co. He also operated a private tax business out of his house until 1986.
In 1989 he entered Sacred Heart School of Theology in Hales Corners, Wisc. Father Larue resided at Padua Place, a retirement home for priests, in San Antonio, before his death Monday.
Pallbearers are Michael P. Larue, Steven J. Larue, Christopher E. Larue, Landis C. Mahaffey, Jr., Ventress E. “Vet” Thoms III, Gerald F. Dickinson, Bart W. Neff and George L. “J.” Johnson III.
Father Larue was preceded in death by his mother and father, and by his brother, Ferdinand L. Larue, Jr., of Lafayette, La.
Father Larue, who, previous to his entry into Sacred Heart Seminary, had been married , is survived by four daughters, Elizabeth Thoms of Georgetown, Patricia Dickinson of Cedar Park, Judith Larue of San Antonio, and Marguerite Amundsen of Cedar Park; a brother, Louis P. Larue of New Orleans; and sisters, “T.C.” Dwyer of Saint Michaels, Md., and Kitty Mahaffey, of Saratoga, Calif., and four grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, Father Larue’s family earnestly requests that you help them honor their father with a memorial fund at Padua Place, a retirement home for priests, in San Antonio; donations should be made to “Padua Place, ” 100 Peter Baque Rd., San Antonio, TX 78209.

Milford L. Prichard Jr.

Abilene - Milford L. Prichard Jr., age 76, died Tuesday, August 23, 2005, at Hendrick Health Systems in Abilene.
Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, August 25th, at The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Rd., Abilene, TX.
Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday, August 26th, at Pioneer Drive Baptist Church with doctors H. Bailey Stone, Phil Christopher and Jeff Ried officiating. Burial will follow at Elmwood Memorial Park. Services are under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home.
Milford Lewis Prichard Jr. was born on May 23, 1929, in Corsicana, Texas, to parents Milford Lewis Prichard Sr. and Lizzie A. Brooks Prichard. He graduated from White Face High School in 1946 and went on to attend Eastern New Mexico University in Portales, New Mexico; and later graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene in 1957. He married Rosa Lee Hemphill in Littlefield, Texas, on June 10, 1958, after she graduated from HSU, where they met. They lived in Abilene from 1958 to 1978 when they moved to Odessa; and then returned to Abilene in 1995. Milford worked for the U.S. Postal Service for 39-years. He was a member and Deacon of First Baptist Church of Abilene, and in his earlier years he was ordained as a Deacon at Southside Baptist Church, where he faithfully served and also taught Sunday school. While in Odessa, he served as a Deacon and taught Sunday School at First Baptist Church. He was active through Abilene Baptist Social Ministries; a former member of Greater Abilene Kiwanas Club; served on the HSU Academic Foundation; was involved in the HSU Cowboy Club; and was also an avid supporter of the HSU sports programs. Milford was preceded in death by his parents.
Milford is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Rosa Lee of Abilene; a son, Marlon Prichard and wife, Sherry, of Seminole; a daughter, Lou Ann and husband, Paul Draper, of Abilene; three brothers, Bill Prichard and wife, Sue, of Odessa, Jim Prichard and wife, Phyllis, of Odessa, and Ed Prichard, of Florida; also one sister, Fay and husband, Jerry Rutherford, of Horseshoe Bay, Texas; two grandchildren, Daniel Paul Draper and Grace Leann Prichard; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be sent to the HSU Athletics Department or Donor’s favorite charity.

Lillie Mae Walsh Steen

Odessa - Lillie Mae Walsh Steen, 74, of Odessa, died peacefully on August 23, 2005, with her family by her side after a courageous battle with Lewy Body Disease
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 27th, at Frank Wilson Funeral Chapel with graveside services at Monahans Memorial cemetery in Monahans.
Lillie Mae was born on Dec. 12, 1930, in Ranger, Texas, to Percy Dean Walsh and Grace Haney Walsh. She graduated from Monahans High School in 1948 and was a resident of Odessa for 37-years where she retired from Dillard’s. She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Odessa, where she sang in the choir. She will be remembered fondly for her faith in the Lord, her caring spirit, her strong will and her love of family and friends.
Her legacy is carried on by her son, Kevin Steen and wife, Carol; and daughters, Tracy Millican and husband, Doug, Treva Flanagan, all of Odessa, and Pam McMaster of Georgetown; grandchildren, Brandon Steen of Nashville, Tenn., Misty Steen, Mason Steen, Jason Bowling and wife, Amy, and Hilary Millican of Odessa, Dee Dee Hawes and husband Cody, and Shelley Ray and husband, Rob, both of Georgetown; great-grandchildren, Britton, Tristian and Dalton Hawes of Georgetown, and Jas Bowling of Odessa.
She was preceded in death by her son, Sean Steen; mother, Grace Walsh; father, Percy Walsh; brothers, Dean, Cline, James (Pug), Gene and Gloyd Walsh; and sister, Juanita Bawcom.
Pallbearers will be: Jason Bowling, Brandon Steen, Mason Steen, Cody Hawes, Rob Ray and Sean Alley.
Honorary Pallbearers: Britton and Dalton Hawes and Jas Bowling.

Geraldine Gibson Anthony

Brentwood, Tenn. - Geraldine Gibson Anthony born May 29, 1925, died August 24, 2005, at 80 years of age.
Geri was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ, a Bible teacher, an accomplished artist and a devoted mother, grandmother, sister and friend.
She was preceded in death by her husband Jack Gibson; her husband, Lonnie Anthony, and her son Vance Gibson.
She is survived by her son Jack Gregg Gibson (Mavely) of Odessa, Texas; her daughter, Victoria Gibson-Fourkiller of Nashville; grandson, Dillon Gibson of Tahlequah, Oklahoma; five granddaughters, Darbi Poe (Billy) of Fort Worth, Texas, Hayley Davis (Kelby) of Odessa, Kelee Wright (Kirk) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, Kaela Fourkiller of Nashville, Tennessee, and Kate Gibson of Austin, Texas; five great-grandchildren; sisters, Rozella Duermyer of Eugene, Oregon, and Novella Burrus of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, Don Finto (Martha) of Nashville; and by her Anthony children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was a member of Antioch Church of Christ.
Memorials may be sent to the world missions departments of Antioch Church of Christ, Fourth Avenue Church of Christ in Franklin, Tennessee, or to the Belmont Church in Nashville.
Active pallbearers are Kevin Moore, Todd Anderson, Kevin Williamson, Michael Yates, Lincoln Coggin and Vance Vannett.
Honorary pallbearers include Andy Woodard, Kirk Davidson, Van Cluck and the “Good Sisters” prayer group (Pat High, Jane Burnett, Era Jaynes, Martha Butler, Linda Elder, Mary Stanley, Anne Severance, Martha Finto and Gloria Grant).
The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home and for the hour preceding the Saturday morning service.
Funeral services will be conducted by Don Finto and Weldon Rickman on Saturday morning at 10 a.m. at the Brentwood Funeral Home, 9010 Church Street East in Brentwood, Tennessee.

Frederick William “Freddie” Frank

Odessa - Freddie was born July 19, 1931, in Baton Rouge, La., to Bill and Edna Frank and passed away Monday, Aug. 22, 2005, in Odessa. He was 74.
He is survived by his wife, Ila Joan Frank of Odessa; one daughter; one brother; two sisters; and two stepchildren. Freddie was a member of the Andy G. Vaughn Masonic Lodge in Odessa.
Freddie grew up in Kilgore and began his career as a professional musician there at the age of 17. He traveled all over the country, from Texas to California to Louisiana and Florida to Greenland and Nashville.
Freddie was a great fiddle player, teacher, songwriter and vocalist. He wrote and recorded several songs, one being a West Texas favorite, “This Old Rig.” Most People will remember him from the Stardust in Odessa, The Stampede in Big Spring and The Texas Country Bluegrass Band.
He’ll be missed by all.

Arren C. ‘Mac’ McDonald

Andrews - Arren C. “Mac” McDonald born July 30, 1919, in Pine Island, La., passed away Aug. 24, 2005
He retired from Continental Oil Co. in July of 1975.
He is survived by his wife, Wanda, who he married Dec. 10, 1959; sister, Jewell Wadsworth of Odessa, nine children, Leslie Kindel, Carol Sewell, Donna Holeman, Bruce McDonald and Kerry McDonald of Abilene, Susan Guerry and Eric McDonald of Odessa, and Joe McDonald of Allen, and Robin Westfall of Fort Worth; 23 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at Andrews cemetery.
Services are entrusted to Andrews Funeral Home.

Helen Lois Spencer

ODESSA - Helen Lois Spencer, “Aunt Helen” was born January 26, 1920, to Dollie Willman and Walter Willman.
She was born in Ranger, Texas, in a big Army tent. Through her growing up years, she was raised by her parents and her extended kinfolks. As a family, they experienced the Great Depression and the hardships of that time. She lived all over Texas and much of New Mexico.
Then she spread her wings and lived in Argentina and also in Africa. She traveled the Holy Land and much of the European continent before she came back to Texas.
She always kept up with the family, and could tell you everyone’s birthday, wedding date and birthdays of the children. She had the family collection of pictures and could stump anyone with some of the old timey ones. She was particularly sought after at the family reunions because she was the “Resident Authority” on the family. She could look back on her life with a great deal of certainty because she kept everything on her calendars. It was difficult, if not impossible to win an argument with her because she kept everything in black and white. She also cultivated a host of friends that she kept through the years because she cared about them, and was also a great letter writer.
Through her years of illness, she gained more friends — especially those associated with Hospice of Midland. Special thanks go to Peggy Abel, her hospice nurse, Mary Moysard, her respiratory therapist, and to Dr. Richard Reese and Dr. Gregory Bartha for directing her medical care. Thanks to Richard and Gilbert for keeping her oxygen in good supply and to Pharmacy Unlimited for going “above and beyond.” To the entire team of Hospice of Midland she was simply “Aunt Helen.”
Special thanks to Bert Huff, her hairdresser for over 35 years and to Vena for keeping her supplied with the Odessa American over the last several years to she could work her crossword puzzles. Family members stayed close. She would want to make mention of Bob and Emma Howard and family for helping her with household and car maintenance and for those special delivery “goodies.” And, how about those fish fries at C.A. and Marta Marie’s house. Those were extra special times because all the clan from McCamey, Crane and Odessa would gather for food and fun. Sometimes, Betty Carolyn, a cousin from the Fort Worth area would make the trip to join in this festivity. There is one lady that Aunt Helen had a special love for, and that was her Aunt Marie. Through the years, they shared many memories, letters, and jokes.
Survivors include two nieces; Donna Willman and Carol Armstrong, her husband Larry and their family. Great nieces and nephews are: Gary Armstrong and daughter, Hanna; Beverly Mewborn and children Brooke, Brett and Chelea; Cindy Herzog and husband, Brett, and their children, Brandon and Mason.
Aunt Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her only sibling, J.C. Willman, her Beloved Randy Spencer, and her infant daughter Civila Annette.
Graveside services for Aunt Helen will be on Saturday, August 26, 2005, at 11 a.m. at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Family visitation will be Friday from 6-8 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Aunt Helen requested any memorials go to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital- 332 N. Lauderdale- Memphis, Tennessee 38105- because of the special work they do with children; or to Hospice of Midland- P.O. Box 2621; Midland, Texas 79702- for the friendships, care, and attention she received through the months she was under their care.
Aunt Helen, thanks for the memories. Go to God.

Patricia Gene Adams Nolan

MIDLAND - Patricia was born on April 24th, 1930 in Ringgold, Texas, and died August 24th, 2005 in Midland, Texas, at her residence.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Louis Harrison Adams and Myrtle Alice Young Adams; brothers and sisters preceding her death are: Pauline Grace Witt, Lula Beatrice Downey, Emma Inez Roberts, Myrtle Louise Robertson, L.H. Adams, Jr., Horace Allen Adams, James Dell Adams, Lenos Elaine Meadows and Billie Ernestine Adams.
Pat is survived by her husband, William J. (Bill) Nolan of Midland, Texas; sister, Ethel Rhae Bussanmas of Littlefield, Texas; children, Kenneth Randell Ahler of Santa Fe, New Mexico, Richard Gene Ahler of Huffman, Texas, Martha Alise Haymes and husband, Tommy, of Lubbock, Texas, Shari Rhae Thomas of Odessa, Texas, Maurice Bud Thomas of Navarre, Florida, Steve Nolan of Caldwell, New Jersey, Larry Nolan of Midland, Texas, David and wife, Delinda, Nolan of San Antonio, Texas, Kelly Nolan of Carrollton, Texas, and Tammy Nolan of Midland, Texas, grandchildren; Dale Bookout, Jimmy Ahler, Adam Ahler, Carrie James, Patricia Alise (Tricia) Haymes, Randy Haymes, Rhonda Haymes, Tod Thomas, Derek Nolan, Matt Nolan, Braxton Nolan, Tory Nolan, Libby Nolan, Connor Nolan, Ally Nolan, Sophie Nolan and Cade Nolan; great-grandchild, Jessica James; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation is scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, August 26th, 2005, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home in Odessa, Texas.
A celebration of Pat’s life will be given at 10 a.m. Saturday, August 27th, at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel in Odessa, Texas, with the Reverend Jimmy Braswell officiating. A graveside service will be celebrated later, that same afternoon at 4 p.m. at the Littlefield Memorial Park in Littlefield, Texas, with Nathan Crawford officiating and a visitation immediately after the service.
Honorary pallbearers are: Tod Thomas, Larry Cox, Johnny Witt, Bruce Adams, Randy Haymes, Tommy Haymes, Derek Nolan, Matt Nolan, Braxton Nolan, Charlie Evans and Dennis Parks.
In lieu of flowers, Pat requested donations be made to Home Hospice, 901 W. Missouri Ave., Midland, TX 79701, (432) 570-0700.
