Plainview - Funeral services for: Charles “Dick” Trimble, 60 of Plainview will be Saturday, February 4, 2006 at 10:00 a.m. At First Presbyterian Church in Plainview. Burial will be at Plainview Memorial Park under the direction of Bartley Funeral Home.
Officiating: Rev. Drew Travis of First Presbyterian Church, Plainview, Tx.
Date and place of death: He died Tuesday January 31, 2006 at Covenant Lakeside Hospital in Lubbock.
Date and place of birth: He was born August 19, 1945 in Amarillo, Tx. to Wayland “Scooter” and Martha Lois Trimble.
Date and place of marriage: Married Lynda “Lynn” Hendrick on November 25, 1965 in Amarillo, Tx.
Background info: Moved to Plainview in 1958. Graduated from Plainview High School in 1963. Attended West Texas University. Was employed by Amarillo Hardware from 1965-1966. Employed by Morrow Thomas Hardware as a salesman in Amarillo from 1966-1969. Employed by Zork Hardware in Albuquerque from 1969-1970. Employed by Amarillo Hardware from 1970-1991. He was co-owner of science and service, currently in Amarillo and Olton, it was founded in 1991. Co-owner of B & T AG Distributing, currently in Amarillo, it was founded in 1993. Owner of Trimble Farms Inc. currently in Plainview, it was founded in 2000. He was active in Texas Cattle Feeders Association and Texas Water Utilities Association. He was an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Plainview.
Survivors: His wife: Lynda “Lynn” of the home; 1 daughter: Jody Rogers with husband Monty of Odessa, Tx.; his mother: Martha Trimble of Amarillo, Tx.; 1 brother: Joe Trimble with wife Jonnie of Harker Heights, Tx.; 1 sister: Mary Martha Magee with husband Rod of Lubbock, Tx.; 3 grandchildren: Ryne, Kelsi, & Kole Rogers all of Odessa, Tx.; 6 nieces and nephews and 8 great nieces and nephews; numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
preceded in death by his father: Wayland “Scooter” Trimble.

Charles Edward Beene
Odessa - Charles Edward Beene, 65, of Odessa went to his home in heaven on Wednesday, January 25, 2006.
Charles was born in Odessa on January 25, 1941, to Ed and Mary Beene. He graduated from Odessa High School. Charles attended cosmetology school while trying to decide on a career, and 45 years later he was still doing hair. He worked a short time in Odessa nd then went to New York City where he was a director of several salons. Charles was the model for the ad campaign “only her hair dresser knows for sure.” His picture was in Times Square and on bill boards everywhere. When Joan Rivers went on tour, she invited Charles to go with her as her personal hair dresser and they became good friends. Barry Goldwater’s daughter-in-law called and asked Charles to go into partnership. He visited Las Vegas and after seeing the salons, he remained there. He returned to Odessa in 1976 to care for his ailing parents. He met and married Virginia Orr in Odessa and had a wonderful marriage of 18 years. He always said he wanted a large family and he got one.
Charles was owner and operator of Charles and Co. He tried retirement but didn’t like it and continued to work at the Chateau as well as several other places. He served on various community boards including the Ector County Library, Ellen Noel Art Museum, and the Permian Playhouse. He was named the volunteer of the year for the Permian Playhouse. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife, his precious Shitzu, Sadie, step-children, Eddie and Melody Thomas, Carl and Candy Frantz, and Dick Nichols, sister and brother-in-law, Wilburn and Colleen Fletcher, (9) grandchildren, (19) great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins, and many friends.
A memorial srvice will be held 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2006 at the First United Methodist Church with Pastors Terry Tamplen and Jeanie Williams officiating.
The family suggest that memorials may be made to the Hospice House of Odessa.

Martha Wood Buchanan
Odessa - Martha Wood Buchanan died Tuesday, January 24, 2006 at the Hospice House, Odessa, TX. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006 at Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens in San Angelo with Rev. Jimmy Braswell officiating.
Martha was born May 2, 1926 in Del Rio to Dred and Josie Miller Wood. She was raised in San Angelo and graduated from San Angelo High School and College. Martha was married on November 3, 1946 to Jack Smith (Smitty) Buchanan in the First Presbyterian Church in San Angelo by the beloved Dr. B. O. Wood. They were blessed with two children, a son, Joseph (Jody) Wood Buchanan, and a daughter, Marsha Kaye Buchanan.
In 1960, the family moved to Odessa. Martha was employed for many years by El Paso Products Company, Odessa Natural Corporation and Meridian Oil. She retired after 25 years of service with the El Paso Company.
Martha was an ordained deacon and elder and member of Westminster Presbyterian Church of Odessa. She was a member for many years of the Bible Study Fellowship International studies. Her main interests and loves were her family, church, cherished friends, gardening, and being a faithful student of the Bible.
Smitty preceded Martha in death in 1996. Survivors are their son, Joseph (Jody) Wood Buchanan, Odessa, daughter and son-in-law, Marsha Kaye & Larry Tester, Lubbock, granddaughters, Emily Beth, Odessa, Rebecca Tester, League City, and Jennifer Tester, Lubbock and great-granddaughter, Jacy Beth, Odessa.
Other family members and survivors from Lubbock, are Tommy Wood Mandry and wife, Barbara; Thomas Mandry and wife, Elizabeth, and children, Madelyn and Emma Grace; Amy Cox and husband, Jim and children, Mattison and Mandry;from Athens, Texas, Dr. Robert Wood Strain and wife Nancy; from Tarzana, California, J. Shaffer Smith III and wife, Claudia, and children, Samantha and Danielle; and numerous loved ones from San Antonio.
There will be a visitation 7:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2006 at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.
Those wishing to make memorials in remembrance of Martha may send them to Westminster Presbyterian Church, 4901 Maple Avenue, Odessa 79762.

Mittie Anderson Davis
Odessa - Mittie Anderson Davis, age 83, of Odessa, passed away Saturday, January 21, 2006, at Parks Methodist Retirement Village.
She was born January 16, 1923, to Eyster and Mary (Simpson) Anderson in Odessa. They preceded her in death.
She lived in El Paso from 1941 to 2004 before moving back to Odessa. She retired from Southwestern Bell Telephone in 1986. She was active in Eastern Star.
Survivors include her daughter, Sandra Russell and husband, Mike of Midland, TX; brothers, Harold Anderson of Yuma, AZ; and E. M. “Andy” Anderson and wife, Ethel, of Odessa; sisters, Jody Smith of Aransas Pass, TX, and Addie Belle Whitlock of Odessa, and four grandchildren, Holly, Heather, Jeremy, and Zachary.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, January 28, 2006, at Odessa Christian Faith Center with Rev. Don Caywood officiating.
Services entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Jo Ann Baker Haning
Odessa - Jo Ann Baker Haning, affectionately known as “Maw Maw”, went peacefully to be with her Lord Jesus Christ January 24th, 2006.
Jo Ann was born to Charles and Eula Mae Baker on September 7th, 1930 in Stephenville, Texas. She married the love of her life, Louis Earl Haning, on September 3rd, 1949.
Maw Maw was so proud of her family of women; two daughters, four granddaughters, and two great-granddaughters, all who loved her dearly.
Losing Maw Maw is bittersweet. Our hearts are filled with sorrow, but we have peace knowing that her heart now knows complete joy because of her Savior! Maw Maw you left our hearts warm with memories. We love you and will miss you dearly!
Jo Ann is predeceased by her loving husband of 54 years Louis Haning.
Mrs. Haning’s survivors are Pat Chavanell and husband Joe of San Antonio, Texas; Peggy Smith, Brandee Joletha Smith, Scarlett Smith, and Amber Smith, all of Katy, Texas; Melissa Ford and husband Peter of North Carolina; granddaughters, Brittney Ford and Hannah Ford.
The family will receive friends at a visitation on Thursday, January 26th, 2006, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home.
Services celebrating her life will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 27th, 2006 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home Chapel, with Reverend Charles Tapley officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Arrangements are under the direction of Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Odyssey Healthcare at 2651 John Ben Shepherd Parkway, Bldg. 4, Ste. B, Odessa, Texas 79761.

Abel C. Gonzalez
Odessa - Abel C. Gonzalez, lifetime resident, of Odessa, departed this life Monday, January 23, 2006, at Regency Hospital. He was born Tuesday, January 03, 1956 in Odessa to the late Genaro and Betty (Campos) Gonzalez.
At age 15, Abel began working at the Ector Theater where he remained as projectionist until its closing. He operated the projectors for the last movie shown and was the projectionist for the first movie shown at its reopening. He also liked to garden and raise baby chickens. He was a member of Crescent Park Baptist Church.
Those left to cherish his love and memories are his sister, Lolly Meeks, two nieces, Elizabeth Beaty and Vanessa Johnson, four great nephews, and two great nieces all of Odessa.
Pallbearers are Charles Johnson, Brannon Beaty, Jason Weaver, Roy Gonzales, Richard Gonzales and Joe Solis.
In lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Ector Theater, 500 N Texas, Odessa or to the National Kidney Foundation, 30 East 33rd Street, New York, NY.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM, January 26, 2006 at Acres West Funeral Chapel, 8115 W University. Interment will follow at Rosehill cemetery.

John William Franklin
Odessa - John William Franklin 54, passed away January 23, 2006 in Grapevine, Texas. He was born July 18, 1951 in San Angelo to Roy L. Franklin, Sr. and Mary F. (Lucas) Franklin.
Visitation will be 7:30 to 9:00pm, Friday, January 27, 2006
Funeral services will be 2:00 Saturday, January 28, 2006 in the Frank Wilson Chapel. The service will be conducted by Phil Martin, long-time family friend and business partner of Chip Marcum.
Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Gardens.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his twin sister Jan Franklin Marcum and husband Chip of Grapevine, with whom John had resided for the last two years and who will miss him dearly. Nephews Jason and wife Rachel Marcum and children Evan and Chloe of Bedford, and Colin Marcum of Hurst; sister Jean Franklin Hall and husband David of Odessa; brother Roy L. Franklin, Jr. and wife Geonne of Odessa; cousin Jimmy Franklin of Puyallup, WA. He is also survived by five other nephews, one niece, a myriad of great nephews and nieces, and two great-great nieces.
Pallbearer will be six of his nephews; Jason and Colin Marcum, Bryan and Cory Hall and Matt and Craig Franklin.
Services entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Helen Doris Shults “Na Na”
Odessa - The angels took Helen Doris Shults home on January 16, 2006, after having complications with cancer surgery at Loma Linda Hospital.
She previously had hard battles in life, having breast cancer in 1993, bi-pass surgery in 2000, and a defibrillator implant in 2005, She was born on September 11, 1916, in her country home in Salem, Illinois, to William Barkley Thurman, a farmer, and Rosa E. Thurman, a teacher, where she spent her childhood years. She was baptized at an early age and was a member of First Baptist Church while living there.
She graduated from Salem High School, and completed two years of Business College. After graduating, she worked for the State Penal Institution in Sacramento, CA. She later returned to Salem, IL, where she met A.T. (Ashel Tyler) Shults, Jr., and married him on June 17, 1949.
They began their married life in Breckenridge, TX, moving to Rising Star, TX, then moved to Odessa, TX, where they raised their family.
She spent 23 years of her life being a legal secretary at Lawyers Title Agency and McMahon Law Firm. She loved working and made many friends while there.
She lived with both children after her husband passed away, in 1983, mostly with her daughter in California, as she enjoyed the mild weather there.
Na Na and Pa Pa taught the grandchildren how to tie their shoes, taught Aimee how to read at age three, and listened to them when they wanted someone to talk to. They went to every school program they had from elementary to high school. Judy and her children would take family trips with her and Pa Pa through the years to many different places. She lived life to the fullest!
She enjoyed going out to eat, to movies, and on trips with her children and their families anytime the car left town. She loved to go to Ruidoso, NM, when she lived in Texas. She loved watching The Price Is Right and 20/20, taking care of her beautiful flower garden, and going to lunch with her daughter, granddaughters, and great-grandchildren. She was proud to be able to still be driving her car. Na Na enjoyed riding around with grandsons, Jason and Brendan, listening to her favorite music, which included Jerry Vale, Tony Bennett, and Frank Sinatra. Her family was her pride and joy. She had a special friend named Dee, in Apple Valley, CA, who was her “running buddy”. Her grandsons and grandsons-in-law loved to tease her; it made her day to laugh with them. Even the grandchildren’s friends loved to kid around with her, and her, with them.
She was lucky to be able to spend a lot of her time the last few years with granddaughter, Aimee Williams, her granddaughter, great-grandchildren Hailee, age 2 1/2 years, and Shane Tyler, 8 months. She touched lots of lives.
Her son, David, would come to California and take trips to Las Vegas with his mother. She loved seeing him and looked forward to taking trips and visiting with him.
She is predeceased by her husband of thirty-two years, A. T. Shults, Jr., parents, William and Rosa Thurman, sister, Beaulah Caldwell, and brothers, Howard Thurman, and Lyle Thurman, and a baby brother and sister.
She is survived by her daughter, Judy Motley and her husband, Ronnie, from Apple Valley, California, her son, David Shults and his wife, Marilyn, from Jenks, OK . Her grandchildren consist of Stephanie Holt and husband, Jeff; Cedar City, UT, Jason Motley, Apple Valley, CA, Aimee Williams, and her husband, Bill, Phelan, CA, and Brendan Motley, San Bernardino, CA, Chris Shults, and wife, Kelly, Tulsa, OK, Michael Shults, Jenks, OK. She is survived by her great-grandchildren, Hailee and Shane Williams, Phelan, CA, and Andrea, Ericka, and Tristan Tyler Shults, Tulsa, OK. She is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa, TX, on Saturday, January 28, 2006, at 3:00 p.m. There will be a viewing on Friday and Saturday, at Sunset Funeral Home.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Sunset Memorial Gardens and Funeral Home.

Anastasia (Ann) Johnson
Calverton, N.Y. - Anastasia Johnson, 83, passed away Saturday, Jan. 21, 2006 at Medical Center Hospital in Odessa, Texas.
Anastasia was born in Brooklyn, New York on December 7, 1922. She was raised in New York City and moved to Bellmore, New York where she lived most of her life. She moved to Odessa with her husband in December, 1988.
Mrs. Johnson served in the Navy during World War II as a wac.
She was preceded in death by her husband Francis Johnson on October 9, 2004.
Anastacia leaves behind three sons, Kenneth Johnson and wife Nancy of Ocala, Florida, Barrie Johnson and wife Joél, of Rockville Center, New York, and James Johnson of Odessa, Texas. Also surviving are 2 wonderful grandchildren, Kenneth and Brian of Ocala, Florida.
Services are entrusted to Bartholomew Funeral Home of Belmore, N.Y., with burial in Calverton, New York.
The family would like to express a special thank you to Odyssey House for all their kindness and care.
I will miss you! Your son, James.
