Ruby E. Brown
Odessa - Ruby E. Brown, age 93, a longtime Odessa resident, passed away Saturday, February 17, 2007, at Hospice House. She had struggled with Alzheimer’s Disease for approximately the last four years. Prior to that, she had enjoyed her retirement, having retired in 1978 from S&H Green Stamp store where she had worked for 24 years.
She was an active member of the Eisenhower Church of Christ before her illness. Ruby was born June 2, 1913, in Booneville, Arkansas. She married James Hubert Brown in November 1929. This marriage was blessed with two sons, Roy Brown and Bill Brown.
Survivors are: sons, Roy Brown and wife, Hazel, and Bill Brown and wife, Darlene; grandchildren, Jim Brown & wife, Debbie of Hobbs, N.M., Teresa Ingram of San Antonio, Steve Brown of Odessa and Debra Williams and husband Phillip of Evanston, WY; 11 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great grandchildren.
Visitation was held at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors on Monday, February 19, 2007, at 6:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 20, 2007, at 3:00 p.m. at Eisenhower Church of Christ. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
Pallbearers will be Jim Brown, Kirk Brown, Daniel Brown, Steve Brown and Phillip Williams.
Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Maudene Whiteside
Odessa - Maudene Whiteside, 81, of Odessa, passed away Monday, February 19, 2007, at Hospice House.
The family will receive visitors from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, February 23, 2007, at First Assembly of God Church with Rev. Paul Thompson officiating. Interment will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.
Maudene Whiteside was born August 26, 1925, in Hawley, TX to Lemuel and Iva Williams.
She married Grady Whiteside June 7, 1946, in Morton, TX. She was a homemaker.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Grady Whiteside, brothers, O’Neal Williams, Eldred Williams, Donald Williams and sister, Electra Bishop.
She is survived by her sons, Dale Whiteside and wife, Maria of Dublin, TX, Terry Whiteside and wife Nadeen of Midland, brother, Alfred Williams and wife, Mildred of Windom, TX, sister, Darlene Banks and husband, Lloyd of Portales, NM, grandchildren, Shelly Norwood, Heath Whiteside and wife, Brianne, Joy Whiteside, great grandchildren, Cameron Norwood, and Eric Copavo
The family would like to express their appreciation to Dr. O’Hearn and his staff, Nurses Unlimited and special caregiver Yolanda Olivas. Memorials may be made to Home Hospice and Hospice House.
Services are entrusted to Frank W. Wilson Funeral Directors.

Bennie Dean Babb
Odessa - Bennie Dean Babb, 78, a longtime Odessa resident, passed away Monday morning, February 19, 2007, at Medical Center Hospital. Bennie retired from Eidson-Wasson Realtors where she was a broker for many years.
She was founding member of Asbury Methodist Church and a member of Beta Sigma Phi. Bennie was born November 17, 1928, in Cisco, Texas, to the late Newt and Dora Fields. She married Elbert G. Babb Jr. on December 24, 1946, and they made their home in Odessa. This marriage was blessed with two loving children Michael Babb and Benna Stiver.
Survivors are husband, Elbert Babb; son, Michael Babb of Odessa, and daughter Benna Stiver and husband, Mike of Constantine, Michigan; grandchildren, Matt Babb of Midland, Neal Buckingham of Odessa, Melissa Babb of Orlando, Florida, Thomas Buckingham of Manchester, Tennessee, and Jessica Buckingham of Constatine, Michigan. Bennie had 4 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home on Wednesday, February 21, 2007, beginning at 10:00 a.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, February 22, 2007, at Abury United Methodist Church in Odessa. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens in Odessa.
Pallbearers will be S.W. Howell, Bruce Babb, Kie Echols, Eddie Garcia, Matt Babb and Neal Buckingham.
Services are entrusted to Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Directors.

Debbie Cobb
Odessa - Debbie Cobb, 52, of Odessa, died Saturday, Feb. 10, 2007, in Odessa.
Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Dunn Street Baptist Church with the Rev. Mark Kirby officiating. Burial will be at Eunice cemetery in Eunice, N.M.
She was born in Checotah, Okla. She was Baptist.
Survivors Sons, Robert Leathers of Florida and Charles Dwight Cobb of Odessa; daughters, Amanda Newbrough of Odessa and Brandi Jo Moore of Arkansas; mother, Carolyn Griggs of Checotah; and numerous grandchildren.

Winston Evans
San Angelo - Winston Evans, 84, of San Angelo, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, in San Angelo.
Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Glen Meadow Baptist Church. Arrangements are by Shaffer Funeral Home.
He was born in Plainview. He was formerly of Odessa. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.
Survivors Wife, Dottie Evans of San Angelo; daughter, Wendy Evans of Austin; brothers, H.C. Evans of Hereford and Herbie Evans of Plainview; and sisters, Maurine Selby of Hereford and Bernice Donathan of Wildorado.

Maria De La Luz ‘Luz’ Garcia
Seminole - Maria De La Luz “Luz” Garcia, 85, of Seminole, died Monday, Feb. 12, 2007, at Memorial Hospital.
Services were Wednesday at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. Hugh Thekkel officiating. Burial was held at Gaines County cemetery. Arrangements were by Boyer Funeral Home of Seminole.
She was born in Mexico.
Survivors Husband, Armando Garcia of Seminole; sons, Jaime Garcia and Armando Garcia Jr., both of Lubbock, and Johnny Garcia and Jessie Garcia, both of Seminole; daughters, Sara Flores, Anna San Miguel and Margaret Ontiveros, all of Lubbock, Mary Allen of Eunice, N.M., and Martha Garcia of Seminole; brothers, Emelio Reza and Juan Reza, both of Mexico; sister, Margaretta Almanza of Mexico; 14 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Nora Sue Moore
Odessa - Nora Sue Moore, 72, of Plano, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, in Plano.
Memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by Turren-Tine-Morrow Funeral Home of Allen.
Survivors Sons, Darrell Moore of Odessa and Robert Moore of Flower Mound; daughters, Sandi Moore of Plano and Kari Pfeifer of Frisco; and seven grandchildren.

Barbara Delores Ann Smallwood
Big Spring - Barbara Delores Ann Smallwood, 38, of Big Spring, died Wednesday, Feb. 14, 2007, at her residence.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Nalley-Pickle and Welch Rosewood Chapel with the Revs. Byron Brown and Dana Brown of First Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be at Trinity Memorial Park. Arrangements are by Nalley-Pickle and Welch Funeral Home and Crematory of Big Spring.
She was born in Hamlin. She was a member of First Church of the Nazarene.
Survivors Parents, J.W. “Jay” and Jonel Smallwood of Big Spring; brother, Austin Brown of Big Spring; sister, Brianna Brown of Big Spring; and grandparent, John Edwards of Hamlin.

Odessa - Billy Heard, 69, of Odessa, died Tuesday, Feb. 13, 2007, in Odessa.

Irene Allen
Marathon - Irene Allen, 94, of Fort Stockton, formerly of Alpine, a homemaker, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, in Fort Stockton.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Marathon cemetery with the Rev. David Allen officiating. Arrangements are by Fort Stockton Funeral Home.
She was born in Seminole. She was Baptist.
Survivors Son, David M. Allen of Albuquerque, N.M.; daughter, Patricia A. Gulihur of Fort Stockton; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Angel Fuentes
MONAHANS - Angel Fuentes, 80, of Monahans, a mechanic, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007 in Midland.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at St. John Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. John Lucido officiating. Burial will be at Monahans Memorial cemetery. Arrangements are by Harkey Family Funeral Services.
He was born in Marfa. He was Catholic.

Fort Stockton - Maria Adela Garcia, 79, of Fort Stockton, died Friday, Feb. 16, 2007, in Fort Stockton.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. today at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Monday at the church with the Rev. Arturo Pestin officiating. Burial will be at Fort Stockton Catholic cemetery. Arrangements are by Memorial Funeral Home of Fort Stockton.
She was born in Fort Stockton. She was Catholic.

Odessa - Olivia Herrera, 77, of Odessa, died Thursday, Feb. 15, 2007, at her residence.
A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Monday at Martinez-Smith Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Mass will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with the Rev. Joe Uecker officiating. Burial will be at Rose Hill cemetery.
She was Catholic. She was born in Melvin.
Survivors Sons, Raul G. Herrera, Rodolfo Herrera and Ruben Herrera, all of Odessa; daughters, Antonia Martinez and Raquel Aguilar, both of Odessa; sisters, Delia Martinez, Hermenia Cantu and Maria Gonzales, all of Harlingen; 12 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
